Mille Grazie Bazzas! If I had to pick one voice to listen to on a desert island, it would be Lucia. So lovely ... and this woman was a gifted actress with a killer sense of comic timing. Most opera singers over-act when they are attempting comedy, but Lucia's more subtle expressions (so evident here) are much funnier. It is a shame that her Schwipsleid (Tipsy Song) has disappeared from RUclips. So beautiful and so funny. She plays "tipsy" so well that it makes all the other singers attempting this look like amateurs, drunk rather than tipsy. I saw her only once (in an unmatchable Marriage of Figaro) and that performance made me love opera.
That was GREAT! Fabulous singing with a straight face. The man reminded me of Peter Sellers. Thank you for posting, I enjoyed the spoof very much. Smooch g
Yes she seems obviously to be lip-syncing, but the voice is unmistakably hers and ... wow ... what a comedienne! Miss so much this marvelous creature of the stage. She, Auger, and Troyanos all succumbing to cancer in their mid-50s in the same year. One of the worst years ever for the opera world.
Her partner is the brilliant and talented Peter Alexander, singer, comedian, and TV star in Germany for 40 years. Look at the clip of him singing ‘Komm mit mir ins Chambre Séparée’ with Ingeborg Hallstein.
The song is "Du bist der Kaiser meiner Seele" ("You are the ruler of my soul"). It is from the operetta "Der Favorit" (The Favourite) by the Austrian composer Robert Stolz.
