Jim Gaffigan is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer and producer. He presently has 5 stand up specials on Netflix and 3 on Amazon Prime Video. He wrote 2 New York Times Best Sellers DAD IS FAT and FOOD: A Love Story He co-created and starred in a tv series based on his life called The Jim Gaffigan Show. He has appeared in numerous TV shows and films in both comedic and dramatic roles.
Two friends and I travelled from the US to Australia. All three of us are from Colorado. While traveling by train from Melbourne to Sydney we went to the "snack" car. As we waited in line, an elderly woman got in line behind us. We immediately asked her to go ahead of us, we were in no hurry. The woman stepped in front of us and said, "you boys are so nice. What part of Canada are you from?"
Yesterday I tried to let another person go ahead of me at the entrance to a Sobeys grocery store. It took us five minutes of negotiation before he would give in and go first.
I'm from niagara falls and a couple of yrs ago I held a door open for an older black couple.. The woman in a heavy southern accent said to her husband " you see that that little white boy held the door open" she was so shocked. I said just being Canadian
I'll bet she was mad when she found out.
Slomo ah a great 3 stooges line
@Slomofogo step by step, inch by inch..
I can't get over how heart warningly generous and flattering this act is to the Canadians, despite the fact that it's all insulting. Bravo.
David Cross touched on this. His basic premise was that over a century of being neighbours and the only thing they could think of to make of us was how nice we were.
Gaffigan uses irony and understatement so cleverly. I just love how respectful and genuinely self-deprecating he is. He shows you can be hilarious without being unkind or vulgar. I'm a true fan!
Ditto
Jim is playing to his audience.
And yet, here on RUclips, King Baby is rated TV-MA.
"We're not polite, we're passive aggressive." Love it.
An American woman friend who married a Canadian and moved to Vancouver confessed to me in a whisper that "they're not ALL nice here"...to me, a fellow American.
#Truth
@@gregoryh3270 she's moved to Vancouver that's her problem.
@@gregoryh3270 very true
Jim Gaffigan is hilarious an puts me in a good mood every time.
I love his audience voice
...and by doing it he gets to repeat the word 'clam juice's, thusly doubling the use of it.
Me, too. It's perfect.
This year Canada is so against having Americans moving North we closed the border before the election.
It's been almost eerie seeing the few american license plates i do here and there now. feels like I'm seeing a ghost lmao.
How do you feel about the entire state of Washington moving to Canada? 😀
I’m patient I can wait til it opens again.
Viking Valkyrie Don’t hold your breath Val. Our CDn government is going to keep the border closed to non-essential travel for a long, long time. The US has 10 times as many people as us but close to 50 times as many Covid cases.
Cameron Rogers How about a wall?
"there is a youth hockey team staying in every Canadian hotel" that's about right actually 🙂
What's wrong with us staying in hotels, eh? 🏒
That’s *aboot right
I delivered to hotels in southern Ontario for my work and about 85% had youth teams staying there, it was a running joke i had with the staff... they were either there, checking in or just checked out.
@@MykalNines Americans just remember that time when the world wasn't exploding, youth hockey was a thing still. Now Americans think hockey is racist because white people play it.
Jack Mountain
Nonsense. All races play hockey now. Canada supports well planned and supported immigration and people of all races. AND their kids play hockey too! :) immigration strengthens economies.
I worked in a Canadian hotel and been in a crap ton of Canadian hotels and I concur every time there was a children's hockey team
As a Canadian, I can assure you that “There’s a youth hockey team staying in every hotel in Canada” is the truest thing ever said about Canada.
Eh?
I legit wonder if hockey kids ever go home
It's legit facts 😆
That cracked me up.
It really really is lmao
This is how you do comedy right, respectfully funny, no need to trash a country and alienate your audience, love all yor work!
I love how obvious it is that he really gets to know Canada in order to write these jokes. Its so nice that he puts in the work :)
Thank you Jim for coming to Canada, from America, to do jokes about us.
"to Americans passive aggressive is polite" my mind is blown haha
You could just get punched, so yeah its polite to give you a way out.
John to u a school ground is like prison u wanna be up all in it
I traveled around Québec about 2 years ago (My first time in Canada) I was impressed with the elimination of the penny. The US needs to do that. I loved Canada's colorful money too.
Friendly people. I was so happy to speak French with people. I love maple syrup and maple trees. Love poutine. And Tim Hortons.
Take heart - US bills have tinges of colour. Your conservatives can now pay with pinkos.
I use to love finding Canadian coins, including their penny. Harder to do now. When we lived in Seattle in the 70s I found them alot. Canadian quarters even more so.
French in Canada is not French spoken in France. Sometimes you don’t understand it.
They are just copying us here in Australia. We got rid of our small coins in 1990. It is also our tech they use to print their money. But only Canadians would mint a coin called a Loony.
"Because we all know God loves America more" lol...Another great routine thanks Jim...
“And that love is measured in feet.”
@@margaritaalvarez3766 Lol right!

Jim's clean comedy act is so refreshing
😂 Thanks Jim. We're back in lock down here (Melbourne AUS) I am separated from my family and friends whilst also working a serious essential service job. I appreciate the daily laughs from yourself, Michael McIntyre and Sarah Millican so much 😁💙
You wrote "whilst" lol!
@@linshanhsiang pretty standard word here but I'm glad you got a giggle out of it
@@linshanhsiang I love that word....I have used it a few times myself.
My supervisor is from Scotland, he uses that word. 🏴
I'm from the US. I kind of thought Australia and New Zealand were through with Covid but I guess not. Of course we're the epicenter of the covid world here. Good luck and be safe!
Also, just have to say about Jim as a stand up comedian. It is so refreshing that he is constantly laugh out loud funny but never has to revert to the f word or any other swear words. Very witty observations about life and such. Love this guy!
“Pebble economy”... nuff said about jim’s genius
This just healed my blackened heart
Jim is very refreshingly unique. He's not like other comedians. Great voice too!
The amount of knowledge I've learned about Canada from Jim is way more than I could ever learn from any geography book.
@@nadlax5920 no this is where I insist I have no knowledge about geography
Jim Gaffigan should be required learning in all US and Canadian schools!
yeah but...
when was the last time _anyone_ opened a Geography book?
(I don't think I even have to disqualify school kids on this one...)
Eddy_D Is geography taught in school (elementary-high school) anymore?
@@thelitdave Can confirm they still teach it, but you're more than allowed to forget most of it after 9th grade 👍🏽
Jim Gaffigan has the perfect balance in his comedy. He says things that a normal person wouldn’t say, but not to the extremes that some comedians push it. Makes for some good fun that everyone can enjoy!
You’re quite right. His comic persona is sort of middle-aged everyman, slightly doofus, but in fact, it’s very intelligent in its perceptiveness and the balance you describe.
I’m a Canadian, and I have to say, you are by far, my favourite comedian. I love your videos. The next time you come to Toronto, I have to get tickets.
"Cmon China, that's a red flag....with a star in the middle"
That's Vietnam's flag though. China has several at the top left.
@@alexandercressman3420 he was referring to communism
This Canadian loves your comedy!!
I have been reading all these and lmao. I'm Canadian as well but I've been living in the USA for quite some time now. The funny thing is that every time my father-in-law sees me, he has a new Canadian joke for me lol. My husband says, he wouldn't do that if he didn't like you so now i laugh along eh. No matter what I never lose the accent. I'm from Winnipeg, Manitoba and live in Huntsville, AL. I still visit Winnipeg and my family there. When I go in winter, I love it, it's like I've missed apart of myself. I still love my Winnipeg Jets. Go Jets Go 💙.
That metric system joke had me spit my beer out. 🤣
how many fluid ounces?
@@kevind2382 about 30ml
That’s a red flag...with a star in the middle! 😂
I love that joke... and delivery 😆 although he describes the flag of Vietnam- not the Chinese flag
@@allisonr9607 glad I'm not the only one who caught the error in the joke. China's flag has multiple stars, and they're not in the middle.
Funny joke, regardless.
Unh, it's the Canadian flag in the joke, isn't it? So the Chinese will think good thoughts when they see a maple leaf flag and think, "it's a star just like us". Weird Canada?
Red, White but never blue. 🇨🇦
@@allisonr9607 Yeah, or the flag of Hong Kong, but not China
"Everything about Canada is pleasant"
Our native population would like to have a word with you methinks.
They...they don't even pay taxes...
Armah Pruski They do pay taxes if they don’t work on a reserve.
It's time to retire the word "methinks".
The government has been collecting royalties from reserve land for almost 150 years and only returned a small portion to the people.
@DannyGirl google "first nations royalties subsidize Canada's economy'. The plane companies mark up 400% on everything for the far north,
I'm gonna show the metric system bit to my Physics class tomorrow. We are starting off the course with measurements and it´s gonna fit perfectly. So hilarious!
We're unique and we're polite because it's easier to take you money that way.
"Don't shoot your customers." Unofficial slogan of the Hudson's Bay Company.
allan lanktree I thought I was the only one who knew that phrase. Do you know the Hudson Bay Start? Most groups set out in the early morning to get a good start on the trek. The Bay sent their people out in the afternoon. That way if they found out, while setting up camp that night, they had forgotten anything their running would only be a half day behind to catch up. ❤️🇨🇦
When I lived there, it was La Bay.
Ehm... kind of hard to picture given what HBC was up to in relation to their indigenous pelt-trading clients.
Thank you for existing. You make the world a little better. 😊
"C'mon China.. that's a red flag".. laughed way harder than I should have at that.
Knock it off
Okay, so I'm way late to the party. Just discovering this guy on YT. Gaffigan has the very best delivery I think of any comedian. Super witty n smart comedy...not crude but super clever. My ribs are sore from laughing. Thanks JG!!
Your welcome here in BC anytime Jim, we shared a laugh recently at the crafty table on set ;)
It was a pleasure to meet you and I’m looking forward to seeing your work coming up🍻
Stayed up until 2am binging on your videos... and there's a new one about Canada? Woohoo!
Jim and Canada should get a room 🙂
the amount of times ive had to sleep in my truck because "a tournament is in town" is un fuckin real
Yep, even in US , youth competitive travel hockey has grown tremendously, our boys played for 10 years all over US, very costly but great family time
I cannot WAIT for this!!
This is brilliant, thank you Jim.
Jim Gaffigan, I love your stand-up but I have to say that your "Let's Get Cooking" and "Mike & Pat Show" segments helped me get through the worst days of the pandemic. It was a great distraction with a good amount of laughs. Cheers.
I enjoyed the flag jokes. Thank you for these uploads during this stressful time.
I remember driving through the States some years back and while at a gas station another driver, after looking at my licence plate, asked me ' where the hell is *Beaut Columbia*?'
I told him it was north of Peru. ;)
It’s not technically a lie.
@@candie1230 No, it's not. :)
Jim consider this your formal invitation
Love you man. You make life better with your humor. Thanks
This guy has done for me more good than buckets of Zoloft.
It's a new day. Another video is up, so now I can Gaffigan! Yea!
I've been following you since your club comic days Jim. I've seen you live a couple times. I've seen all your specials and heard every joke you've ever told. I don't need to like and subscribe. Your comedy just pops into my head all the time.
I've never had clam juice lol "You better stop with the clam jokes.. it's getting just too much" -- so funny! ♡
1:58 Ok, I'm not a big hockey fan, but even so that one stung a bit.
Thanks Jim for helping me stay steadfast in Minnesota. Although the clam juice is tempting..
Yeah man. Respects from 🇨🇦 bro.
😂 China was mad at Canada and now India is mad at Canada!… This says a lot more about Xi Jinping and Narendra Modi than Canada!
Phoenix B.C. in 1911 played for the Stanley Cup, but I did not know Gretzky moved there.
You rock -JIM GAFFIGAN!!!!!
Hey Jim- Actually, we aren’t the only country to use the Imperial system instead of metrics. Myanmar (Burma) and Liberia still use ounces and pounds. That’s right, Myanmar, Liberia, and the United States. Maybe our system will conquer Equatorial Guinea someday.
Not great company to be in but fundamentally all linked with some appalling humanitarian history. Hilarious that Americans consider themselves as representing freedom with their freedom-units yet they rank appallingly badly on the Country Freedom Rankings.
Bermuda, Barbados, The Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago.
Too funny..brilliant
Well Jim, we'd welcome you here!😉🇨🇦
He’s so talented. I needed to laugh.
LOL...thank you again...
Clam juice? Didn’t know that was a thing. Jim Gaffigan. Educational.
Gotta have Clamato to make a Caesar!
Ever hear of the Bloody Mary cocktail? The Canadians add clam juice and call it a Caesar.
It’s short for Clamato juice
This is part of a larger set, where he talks about Canadians inventing the Caesar, which is a bloody mary with clam juice.
We drink a lot of Caesars here. An alcoholic beverage made with clam juice. If you drink clam juice straight you got a problem lol. Only appropriate with alcohol lol
Thanks Boss
I worked alongside the Mountie in the title page. Nice fellow.
Definitely our best COLONY!!!!.... 💖💖💖
May God save our Empire and our cheerful Queen!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I know in math we’re taught both metric and imperial systems
2:06 Jim “I remember the first time I came to The Canada” Gaffigan
The pebble economy bit got me 😂
I knew there would be at least one clamato joke. That alone is enough to think Canadians are weird.
@David Goodfellow That is correct. I love good Caesars, but of course I am Canadian.
Im absolutely convinced that most Americans have never tried a Caesar
@David Goodfellow It's pretty funny because I am now living and working in the Dominican Republic and I bought a bunch of Clamato here. Probably the Canadian tourist demand. But the USA, no way they know.

Too* hot
Well in Canada at least.
Great show!
"In America, passive-aggressiveness is being polite" is spot on.
The first time I came to Canada, I discovered the cans of soda are smaller. In Plattsburgh they're 12 oz., in Granville they're 10 oz. Man I got jipped 2 oz. 😲
I want to go to Canada, not because of American politics but to settle in Quebec as the Francophone portagee
We need more.
The King of the Hill episode where Boomhauer goes to Canada for vacation and a Canadian family goes to Arlen was the best.
Ok..this just a personnel observation from experience...coming from NYC now a duel citizen & my mother being a detective I have never met so many liars as where I am....but they are polite..they do it with a smile...but over stupid stuff...when a neighbor was asked why she would lie about something, her answer floored me..it was" I don't know"..
we had hockey teams all the time where i used to work i was always breaking up games of mini sticks in the hallways and stuff

It’s called Clamato and it’s made in the States. Wadda ya say to that Jim?
He's referring to the Caesar drink that was invented in Calgary and one of the ingredients in clam juice. You are partially correct, Canadians use Clamato juice to make a Caesar now.The original base drink was invented in the US. However the Caesar is most popular in Canada.

Is this about when Canada dumped trash in Philippines and wouldn’t take it back until Duterte got angry? Or am I forgetting something important.
@@tiringsarcasm I'm forgetting the details. It probably wasn't that important, to begin with. After all, the Prez of the Philippines is pretty psycho, period.
