I'm also an one-eyed freak. My left eye is prosthetic.I thought I was the only one but now I know that I'm not alone. I lost my eye when I was 2 years old. Now, I'm 15. I lost my right eye when I was two months old because of a cancer, so I have never know what having with two eyes is. However, I don't think it's a big deal and I live well with it. Also, people are really cool about it and since I have a prothesis, people don't even notice it unless I tell them. Talking about my "handicap" has never been a problem for me. Also, the tip about sitting next to a person on the side where my eye is is so true! It's so uncomfortable for me walking next to someone but not seeing them, so I always walk on their left!

Love this. I was born blind in my left eye. I'm 44 now and the depth perception struggle is real. It's amazing how many things require that. Driving is by far the most dangerous... Parallel parking and parking garages are my nemesis and I joke my car is a "bumper car" because for me, I constantly hit the wall in front of me in garages. My husband once moved the shelf I used on the side of the garage that let me know I was in... Yeah... I demolished his work bench but at least it wasn't the house. 🤣 Any type of racquet sport is a bust, ping pong and pool are downright hilarious. Even riding bikes and skiing can be a little tricky (stay far away from trees and posts!) I recently took up painting... Went to pour paint on the canvas... And poured it BEHIND the canvas lol. But with enough time, you adapt and come up with lots of strategies to help you. But seriously, when you have one eye, you really do need to drive like a grandma... No exceptions!! ❤️

I also have one eye. I lost my left eye due to Retinoblastoma when I was one. Hearing someone else talk about their experience has really helped me become more comfortable with myself and realise that my one-eye life dosen't define me. I'm currently 15 and I used to be so ashamed of the fact that I only had one eye. And it honestly took me up until this past summer for me to gather the courage to tell people because I was so scared that I was forever going to be known as "the freak with one eye". I am now much more comfortable with myself and I now know that it's not my cancer-journey or the fact that I only have one eye that define me, but rather my opinions and who I am in relationships with friends and family that define me. Keep doing what you do because you inspire so many and I can assure you that a lot of people out there feel much better about themselves after watching your videos!

I was born 5 months premature, I stayed in the hospital for 3 months fighting for my life, in order to keep me alive the doctors had to up the pressure of the air I was inhaling and with all that built up pressure the optic nerve in my left eye broke off. I’ve been blind since birth and constant pain, tears, doctors visits.
Seeing this video made me really happy to know I’m not alone.

The depth perception loss depends on the individual. I haven't lost any and went right back to living normally right away - including surfing, driving, working out, running stairs, eating, shopping, landscape photography, drawing, designing, etc. If you are already athletic and have very good spatial awareness, it may be an easy transition.

Sighs, you are such a beautiful person!! you have spectacular muscle movement of the prosthetic which makes you look so good.
I have a prosthetic right eye since birth Im 58 now. I never had any issues aside from grade school where kids would ask questions about my eye.
It was never a problem for me losing it at birth not like someone who just loses an eye what they must overcome. I played hockey was MVP, raced dirt bikes was 2 time amateur motocross national champion, drag race bikes...never had any depth perception issues. My only tip would be to wear glasses to protect the one eye you have left, I cant say how many times glasses may have saved my eye.
Anyone else out there feeling depressed or not normal.....let me give you some advice from living on this rock for 58 years.......there are some people out there with far worse things wrong with them than this, think of them and what they must be going through....your problems in life will seem less important....in essence....just get on with life and don't worry about what others say/think.

Wow! This is great. I’m 75, have had a “glass eye” since I was 10 and this is the first time I’ve ever heard someone talking about people with one eye. The junk you get in your eye when you wake, the rubbing your eye only to find out later it’s been looking up while you were looking straight ahead. Enjoyed the tips. If you don’t have a mirror to check, use your phone. I have several stories about having one eye which can be an ice breaker if you’re not self conscious. I think there are only 2 things I’ve missed not being twin eyed.
    1. Those pictures where you stare at for awhile and supposedly see an image. (Or maybe that’s just me.)
    2. 3D. Would love to experience 3D.
Anyway, thanks for the lovely, informative video. You did a terrific job.

I lost my left eye when I was just 11... I still remember the last crumbling visions and all the procedures trying to save it. Its all gone now, it doesnt make amy difference if I close it or not.
I never really worried about loosing my eye, thats strange I was not even afraid of surgeries, after that I started to regain vision slowly and slightly,... but then I lost it all, no signs of light but i would lie to my mother that Im getting better just not make her worried.
I feel I grew up as a bit of a weirdo, I was bullied and abused at early age in a very sick and ghetto enviroment, under a fascist regime that culminated in warfare when I was just 9, and all these enviromental and social factors had been way more traumatic that I could understand back when I was little. Now that Im a psychologist I realize I also have ADHD as it was probably an escape mechanism, till got pwrsonal problems I deal with, Im allright I think Im still happy in this terrible yet isolated country of despair, I dont think much about my eye but... Im affraid I will loose the other too as I realized Im diagnosed with Wagner Syndrome and my town has a dangerously high level of air pollution that will risk retinal detachment in my other eye as well... I look forward to a future as therapist and service dog trainer but really live in a shit hole country its depressive to just survive here... but I wanna ask you just one thing... I seem very clumsy, I often hit objects on my blind spots but I also have a weird walk. I dont understand but people say I walk weird and I tend to bend my head leaning forward and doing so I sometimes appear aggresive or just weird but I dont reallize that until Im told. It made me wonder if its because of my eye. I have also poor vision on my remaining eye and thats -7.5... sometimes I feel Im seeing the world through a hole from a box stuck on my head... I dont really realize how hard it is for me but sometimes I really feel tired and lazy and Im just not sure how much my eyesight affects my life.
Do you have problems walking around with one eye?
    Thanks !

My elder bro lost his right eye when he was 8 yrs. That changed our family's life. He was brilliant in studies. Faltered thereafter. For years smile and laughter was gone from our household. But now he is 38, married with kids. He is amazing with driving and all other things imaginable. But he is NOT successful in his work just makes end meet. It pains me all the time. It also make me sad that he cant enjoy 3d movies n nd 3d games..apart from many other regular eye functions that he misses

I like that you don’t revolve your RUclips channel around your disability like a lot of other you tubers do to get more views. You show that you live a normal life just like everyone else does ,yet still throw in your story here and there. That’s how it should be. You do good.

Eventually had a retinal detachment from a surgery gone wrong...weak blood vessels inside my eye rupturing...but i wear a shell over my eye due to eye color change and shrinkage. I adapted well with depth perception. Had no issues at all driving or any other activities. Great video and awesome ideas! 😁😁😁😁🙌🙌🙌🙌👍👍👍👍

I am 63 and had my right eye removed at 2 months old. You actually only lose 10% of your peripheral vision. My restriction on my license is a right outside mirror. These days that's no big deal. In 1972 my first car was a 1966 Ford Galaxy 500 I had to drill holes on the right side and install a mirror. You could get a small blind spot mirror and attached to the right outside mirror to help. ENJOY life don't ENDURE it! Mike from Milwaukee.

I lost my left eye to cancer at the age of 5, I'm now 38. Not gonna lie life has been hard, when I was in school I got picked one and made fun of, didn't have many friends, was called a one eyed freak ( saw someone else was called that in the comments, I'm so sorry, I know how bad that hurts). But back in the 80s survival rate wasn't that great, I had a 50/50 chance. I have my good and bad days with it (suffer with depression, anxiety and PTSD) I always ask my boyfriend what it's like to see with two eyes, and he's tried to cover up one of his to see if he can do everything I do with just one ( he couldn't) not gonna lie it was pretty funny watching him walk into the wall, and completely miss the cup when he tried to pour water in it 😂. I'm not sure what my point really was, but I really thought I was the only one with one eye.

I’ve been blind out of my left eye since I was born. I still have an eye it’s just smaller and doesn’t work XD. It doesn’t usually bother me and I usually just forget about it but recently I started driving and I just got into hiking and realized I kinda have a tough time with depth perception. I’ve just noticed that driving seems more difficult then my moms explaining it, and it’s kinda tough for me to read the terrain easily. I had never really thought about how my eye effected me cause my body had adapted but all these new experience are making me kinda nervous/self conscious about it. Thanks for having a video on this it definitely made me feel better and reassured me that I’m not going crazy lol.

It’s been about a month now trying to deal. My eye ball was split in half and I have no retina. I see too much light and the depth perception is off. My eyeball is still in my eye waiting to heal.
