    I've been blind in my right eye for over 40 years (I'm 50) since an accident and EVERYTHING this guy says is spot on. I can do anything, I find skiing fine but do worry about people coming over my right side and I never wear headphones so I can be as aware as possible. I think I have a bit of an issue with not seeing the bumpy terrain and get caught out but that may just be me. I can ski any black run. I won't ride a motorcycle on the road though because I can't shoulder check, my nose gets in the way. I've driven for 30 years no problem with the dark. I do still occasionally bump into people or door frames and people who approach me from the right still surprise me. My friends don’t do that though. My iris is always open so I wear good quality (Serengeti, Oakley or Ray Ban sunglasses.) I recommend wrap round Serengeti for driving and buy safety glasses for cycling. My wife always make sure I sit at the right chair if we’re out for dinner with people, bless her. I do have two different colour eyes as result that I wouldn’t change if I could. If you’re new to having one eye I’m sorry you’ve had this experience but there’s lots of us out there. It’ll be ok. Buy safety glasses for cycling.

    I lost my right eye thanks to cancer recently. I lost my vision slowly & that really helped me adapt, but driving was so hard when I first starting having issues. I am getting my first prosthetic near end of Feb. This has been incredibly helpful as I have been so worried about the "what after"

    This video really helped me out.
    I live in the states, specifically in California.
    Here, a person like me with monocular vision can indeed drive, so as long as the good eye is beter than 20/200 with glasses, in my case, I'm 20/125.
    You gave some sound advice, the additional mirrors on a car helps with blind spots.
    Thank you so much for the video.

    Hello,
    I was wondering if you know if people who are blind in one eye can drive in the UK?
    My sister really wants to get a driving licence but she is blind in one eye. we have to wait a few weeks before we can see the optitions. But I would really like to know soon.

    I had to learn this all myself 19 years ago when I lost most vision in 1 eye mostly at 15 from a paintball injury they did an experimental surgery to see what they could do to help but I have no lense and can't see out of the center of my eye there was nothing like this then thank-you so much. they couldn't put a lense in because I was 15 and cause my pupil was blown out till I was 25 cause the eye was still growing. thanks to the person that donated his body to science because I had glaucoma so they put a stint in to hold the drainage tube in place so I could keep they eye in case of the other one loosing vision I owe so much to UC Davis Sacramento for helping me out I would love to thank them all in person but my ptsd from everything won't alow me to return sofar im working hard to get over it all thanks again for your advice it really helps even though I didn't lose my eye I deal with similar side effects

    I have had a horrific hemorrhage behind my eye. Initially I had about 60% vision loss in my right eye. I still had left peripheral vision in that eye. Now I am down to 90% vision loss in the eye but it’s more a black and solid green orange instead of just black. I feel like I am walking in a bubble I find myself closing the affected eye to try to steady myself and to prevent dizzy and nausea. I don’t know if this is normal. The whole bending down and picking things up is absolutely a struggle I can’t guage the distance of the item and the floor then when I stand up I have to steady myself. I was trying to drive initially but at this point I am not comfortable doing so. I am still incredibly blessed because my dr says with time I may regain my vision. But my life has not stopped even though I have not been participating in all of it. I have to learn to do life with one eye. Should I patch it? Should I tape it? I don’t want to lose the eye muscle… any advice is welcome!

      I had something similar happen, I had a blood clot in my right eye about 6 months ago. I lost I would say about 10% of vision in my right eye. I got the same thing but mine is definitely green in the area I can’t see now. I run a lot and struggle when my eye pressure builds I become nauseous. Thank you for sharing helps me think I’m not entirely alone in this matter

    • @paulgeelen134
      @paulgeelen134 9 месяцев назад +1

      Regarding your cross eyed right eye. You can have surgery to correct a divergent squint however this generally only lasts for a while and requires further surgery after a few years. You may consider visual optics to correct the appearance of the eye. You need a good optometrist to use prisms A prism will bend the light in your glasses to give the impression that the eye is looking straight. It is non invasive and they can use test prisms to give you an indication of how it will look before proceeding with ordering the glasses.
      This may cause issues with your vision however it is worth a try before looking at surgical options.

      Thank you so much...i have one more question.....my right eye is just a little bit inward and when i wear my glasses it becomes very much less ....can't i fix it with eye exercises? ....this crossed eye problem occurred because they used to cover my left eye so i can use my right eye and bring my vision up but i was a little kid and started peaking with my left eye from the top right conrer of my eye patch .....so can i adjust it a little bit with exercises?.....thanks again ❤

    I was born premature at 6 months. I am partially blind in left eye. Docs told me that there's nothing that could help me with this situation and that I needed to protect my right eye at all cost. I found out what this was called 8yrs ago when I tried to go get my CDL and I was told that I will never be able to drive any kind of commercial vehicle then I said to myself well that's dumb as hell cause I got my regular drivers licenses. I'm 41 now an I've only been in 2 wrecks and they happened my Jr year in high school. Now I'm on up in age it's bothering me a lot to know that one day I'll start losing sight in my right eye the older I'm getting, it actually almost freaks me out every time I think about it cause being able just to see out of one eye is a normal to me since born like this.😔😔😔

    Why people with one eye blind can't get Disability certificate? One eyed people can't get into a lot of jobs bcoz of their blindness in one eye. Moreover in this modern era they face locomotary problems as well because for almost all jobs these days people need to travel on their own vehicle ( more frequently) but the biggest problem is that one eyed persons can't get driving license in most of the countries which makes their life more difficult...there are many others problems too in day-to-day life...but the irrational standard for disability benefits rules/laws don't considers one eyed people as "disabled". Can't this ambiguous laws be amended for the sake of making their life atleast some easier?
