From my Occularist, I have found this to be very true. It is easier to process the depth of known objects. He said you have what is called perceived depth perception. New objects take more time to adjust to for someone with monocular vision.

@@bunkysbbq6374 correct. Also vision is really a function of memory based on concepts. So if there is no existing file for a thing then processing comes up with a “no record found”…until that encoding is recognized and readily called up. Of course there’s more to it but simplistically this is how it is. Some people can see but can’t verbalize or name what they see no matter how hard they try. Crazy thing this brain 🧠 of ours is.

I found my depth perception degraded slowly. 8-10 years to lose it.

Hi, trying to find a support group. I noticed yours in just recent. My optic nerve was cut after an aneurysm clip was destroyed in surgery. My eye specialists lied to me after a ct scan was done by my request. two years after results a woman from the office called asking me if I was coming in for result of ct scan, told her I had already been in, she had'nt looked at date on my record. She said " oh my God , she didn't tell you"? Tell me what, that I had an aneurys growing behind my left eye. I had to have em surgery. I was treated so badly. Been trying for over 2 and a half years to find a support group. Totaly blind in left eye. Nothing can be done, no majic pill, no surgery.
