Wow I finally had to the courage to look up how to put on makeup even when blind in one eye. I have always said I don’t like makeup because it felt like to much but I really don’t like it because I’m blind in my right eye and I found it impossible to do my eye makeup. Tysm really I think I’m going to start putting makeup on now❤️
Same! ❤ I would just skip eye liner completely. Ive tried the stamps and stencils. Occasionally my husband helps me when I really want to wear it. But when hes not around I feel overwhelmed and get frustrated before I even start. I was contemplating asking my 7 and 8 year old sons to practice so they could help me.😅 This video explained it so simply. I honestly feel silly for being so anxious all these years!

I'm late to the game, but thank you for this. I went blind in my right eye a few years ago and the first time and only time I tried to put on eyeliner (something I wasn't terrific at to begin with tbh), I couldn't do it and I was so frustrated that after a good half hour of trying I basically collapsed on the bathroom floor and cried. It sounds so stupid now but at the time it seemed so important. But recently I've wanted to try again and I found this video. So I'll buy a cheapish eyeliner in case I still can't figure it out and give this a shot. Thanks again!

I was born with a cataract in my right eye, and it seemed like I could never do eye makeup right. I would just give up and not try it again for months. I use this hack to fill in my eyebrows. It's great as I don't find magnifying mirrors magnify enough to see the detail. Works best when autofocus is playing ball though. Will have to try with eyeliner Sarah

I'll have to try this. I have amblyopia in my left eye to make me blind in the middle of my eye, then I got cranial hypertension and lost my peripheral vision in both eyes. I never thought I could wear make up because I couldn't see out of one eye, but I'll give it a try.

First time viewer! Hi from Wales 🏴 Blind in my left eye and impaired in my right so officially classed as blind. Not sure this will work for me, as I need to lean my elbows on things and have a steady mirror, plus I have a Ptosis of the left eye, but will certainly give it a try! ⭐ I like using an eyeliner stamp as a guide too. Not ideal but it's ok with practice 👍
Here's another hack that I discovered while using this trick to do eyeliner for the first time EVER(!) today: take a video of yourself doing the makeup up really close and then you can watch it later and see what you did right and what you did wrong. Also, how you can do it better and you can watch it again and again. Maybe even take a video every time you do it until you get it down pat! It feels like a great idea...I'm so, so happy I saw this video because then I thought to do that!! Good luck everyone!! 😀
I've held back in doing make up because I am scared it looks bad and uneven because my left eye is near-blind and I just can't see. However, after 6 years of contemplating I decided to just go for it, and here I am watching this tutorial. It is very confronting to watch it, yet it feels like such a reloef to see other women with similar experiences try make up too

Thank the lord for you. I've been at a loss since my accident in 2008. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8+ and I have to hold it upright like you would for a selfie in front of my right (low vision) eye. And I'm going to need a brush tip eyeliner, not pencil. But other than that, this works like a charm! Thank you so much!

The thing I can't seem to figure out is eyeshadow... I can do mascara and my eyebrows fine, but I'm blind in my left eye and sure, I can do that eye but when I have my right eye closed to do eyeshadow on it, I can't see! I was watching another video before this which was much longer and very helpful and everything...but when I skipped ahead to the eye shadow part the makeup artist did one of the girls eyes for her in that frustrated me because I was hoping she would have some sort of tip as to how to do eyeshadow when I close the eye I can see out of. I may try eyeliner now, though! Terrific video! 💗 😀
I have a lazy right eye and just started applying makeup. What I ended up doing is getting a small 20x mirror and Velcro it to a car phone holder with a goose neck (removed the phone holder). I have use of both hands, I can position it where I needed and with the goose neck, I can adjust it up or down for eyes and lips.

I end up with wings going down and all over the place
So I’m not blind or can’t see one eye but I have this really rear condition ( can’t remember the name) where I can’t use Either eye to see left and right so putting on eyeliner or anything to do with having to use my eyes to see left and right is a struggle. i'm commenting here on the full vid too cause i'm still so confused on how this works.. i have corneal scarring in one eye, putting one liner on that eye is no problem at all since i can see it w my good eye, but can't do it the other way around without having to have that eye partially opened to see and try to be careful w not poking myself (ah trauma 🙃). so how does this work exactly? I wear glasses and my right eye is very bad-I have been trying to do the cat eye bc I think it looks so elegant and I always fuck it up! This is a really good idea and I will have to try it! Also, I try using the liquid liner and I may have to try the liquid pen she is using in this video, it seems much easier.
I'm blind in my right eye but my trouble is putting on eyeliner on my left eye because I need to close my left eye to do it, but can't see out of the other one. Wouldn't be using the phone be the same as a mirror and magnified mirror?
I have the same issue & feel I can't do eyeshadow. But the thing I just learned about eyeliner is your eye doesn't have to be fully closed--you might just have to squint a little bit. That's what I did. I'm completely blind in my left eye I've always been and I bought eyeliner for the first time ever today(!) and it was like a sparkly liquid which was easier for me and I just squinted and not only did I use my phone and I was able to zoom in quite a bit I also took a video of myself doing it and then I watched it later to see what I did right and what I did wrong. So even if you can't fully see it at the time you get a better idea of what you should be doing and keep filming it & rewatch to improve. Good luck! 😀
tried it, but couldn't get it to work... blind in right eye, can't see to put liner on left eyelid because I have to close the lid (shutting off my vision) in order to do it. If my seeing eye is closed, there is no way to see what to do. Doing the right (blind) eye is no problem at all because I can see with my left eye.

i'm commenting here on the full vid too cause i'm still so confused on how this works.. i have corneal scarring in one eye, putting one liner on that eye is no problem at all since i can see it w my good eye, but can't do it the other way around without having to have that eye partially opened to see and try to be careful w not poking myself (ah trauma 🙃). so how does this work exactly? (and yes i watched the whole vid...several times)

I just caught this video on your blog and wondered if it would be useful for me, and I'm so glad I checked it out! I'm not blind in one eye, I'm just extremely short-sighted (-11 prescription eek!) and so eyeliner is a battle. I'm going to need to try this out and see how it goes, so thanks Emily :)

Here’s the problem I have, I have nystagmus and my eyes keep shaking and my hand shakes, so like I can’t do a straight line, do you have a hack for that?
I wear glasses and my right eye is very bad-I have been trying to do the cat eye bc I think it looks so elegant and I always fuck it up! This is a really good idea and I will have to try it! Also, I try using the liquid liner and I may have to try the liquid pen she is using in this video, it seems much easier.

I'm blind in my right eye but my trouble is putting on eyeliner on my left eye because I need to close my left eye to do it, but can't see out of the other one. Wouldn't be using the phone be the same as a mirror and magnified mirror?
I have the same issue & feel I can't do eyeshadow. But the thing I just learned about eyeliner is your eye doesn't have to be fully closed--you might just have to squint a little bit. That's what I did. I'm completely blind in my left eye I've always been and I bought eyeliner for the first time ever today(!) and it was like a sparkly liquid which was easier for me and I just squinted and not only did I use my phone and I was able to zoom in quite a bit I also took a video of myself doing it and then I watched it later to see what I did right and what I did wrong. So even if you can't fully see it at the time you get a better idea of what you should be doing and keep filming it & rewatch to improve. Good luck! 😀
tried it, but couldn't get it to work... blind in right eye, can't see to put liner on left eyelid because I have to close the lid (shutting off my vision) in order to do it. If my seeing eye is closed, there is no way to see what to do. Doing the right (blind) eye is no problem at all because I can see with my left eye.
