What I learned to do over the years is first draw the line with a pencil that's easy to erase in case I make a mistake, like she taught us here, and when I am satisfied with the line, I then go over it with a liquid eyeliner to make it pop more and look smoother. 👍 great video! Andrea, please, make a similar video for the hooded eyes. I tried many times to follow your makeup looks with eyeliner, but because of my hooded eyes, they do not turn nice, the line always looks "broken". Thanks in advance!
Ive been doing "the comma" for years and I've always wondered how to make my eyeliner look better. You really helped me a lot and my eyes look so much better now! Thank you for being such a good teacher!
When I was first trying to figure out how to do winged liner back in the day, so many beauty gurus would keep their eyes closed and pull on the lid. I don't see how that can end up looking good, even with tight eyelids (which I do not have). I eventually learned that you need to apply liner with your eyes open and the skin where it naturally is, rather than pulled up. It's always going to be more challenging with my slightly hooded lids, but I continued to practice and eventually got decent at it. I just leave my excess eye skin where it naturally is when my eyebrows are relaxed, and draw the eyeliner over my crease, as if it's not there. Andreea, you-are-amazing. I have made the same mistakes and I’m so glad I found this video. I really enjoy listening to your videos and truly appreciate your kindness and beautiful disposition. God bless you.
A food of thought: I would LOVE to see a proper way to use makeup remover when removing eyeliner, especially when it comes to waterline and when we do tightlining/filled the gaps in our lashes. Also would love to see how you might have done to prevent black eye gunk when we wear liner!!! It's super annoying and not pretty!
Use Kajal for the waterline & tightlining. As for eye makeup remover, it should have oils in it... soak a cotton pad, and gently press & lay on the eye for about 3-5 seconds so the remover can soak on to the liner/mascara to break it up before actually rubbing it off.
I have watched plenty of eyeliner videos, but this is the first time I understand the difference between what I have been doing so far, and how it is supposed to be done. So easily explained and So useful!
Thank you! Jumping in the eyeliner ring 68 years young. I don't think I'll take the wing out that far but your demo thoroughly appreciated...gives me a place to begin! I might add your charm truly precious....humor a bonus*
OMG!! i’m 24, have watched eyeliner tutorials probably since i was 14, and never figured it out so would normally just skip doing it or be okay with an ugly thick line covered by mascara. This is the first time in my life i’m so pleased with how my eyeliner came out!! thank you so much! and your personality is adorable
I just had a lightbulb moment watching this - of course! Follow the waterline! I've been doing the follow-the-line-from-the side-of-the-nose-to-the-end-of-the-eyebrow trick. No wonder it has looked off! (And I should get an eyeliner pencil to practice with, you're right.) Thanks Andreea!
You are such a good teacher and seeing the “mistake” side next to the “correct” side really shows the difference the technique makes! Thank you for this!!
You have such a beautiful and gentle way of talking.. very humble yet so accurate with your opinions (and backed up by skill). I love it! You’ve renewed by interest in trying out winged eyeliner again with this tutorial ❤ I always find tutorials so difficult because our eyes are all so different.. the slant/tilt, shape, face shape, and more importantly (to me) the amount of eyelid that is visible when our eyes are open.. makes suuuch a big difference for what works and doesn’t work. I’m half Asian, but don’t have fully hooded eyes (people don’t realise I’m Asian) though I do have partially hooded eyes.. very much unlike your stunning eyes. I also think I have slightly down turned eyes? I’ve googled to understand my eye shape and what the best techniques are to suit and it’s so confusing lol. I’ve been guilty of pulling my outer eyebrows up while drawing the liner wing, and you’re spot on with how unrealistic it turns out.. very unflattering. Love your preferred method. It gives your eye such a big flattering lift and youthfulness. Very much more elegant too.
You just proved me that I’m being doing it wrong all my life 😭 I knew it because it didn’t look good so I stopped wearing make up many years ago. But I want to learn and will try this technique, it makes a big difference. Thank you for this video , is WONDERFUL! Much love 💗
I usually don't like "mistake" videos especially 10 minutes long, but she speaks so sweetly and is so gentle I could not stop watching. I do not wear makeup but I want to try. I think she will be a great guide.
I honestly appreciate this type of video! I love the contrast between the two eyes that you demonstrated. You’re a great teacher! I’d love for you to do one about blush placement. Even bronzer and blush placement. I remember years ago, you had a video with a correct side and an incorrect side - whole face. It’s been one of my favorite videos ever, I’ve watched it several times.
The mistake with the liquid liner is that we use the tip a lot. See the way Andreea holds the pencil. Try to use the liquid liner like the pencil. A little slanted but horizontal.
warwickshire234 while I appreciate your intent, I have had it explained more than once. I need to see it. Also, no offense, but how do I know you even do eyeliner well?
@@warwickshire234 Exactly: that is what I was clearly explained in person by a make up artist when struggling with eyeliner my first times! Thank you... ✩✩✩
You are so beautiful...yes on the outside but also your fun, sweet, kind spirit. I am one of those beginners that gave up. I want to try again. Thank you.
Me too. Wore makeup daily when young. Now at 57, and with a little more time, trying to learn it all over again. Andrea's videos are a godsend. She is so precise in her explanations but not arrogant. On a side note, someone who creates similar daily looks but also some very exotic, structured looks is Hindash. He is fun to watch but don't expect the tutorial approach like you find on Andreea's channel. They both have a classic style in their approach to makeup. Sublime!❤
i've done the wing for probably 35+ years and NEVER thought of following the bottom water line! ---- TOTAL game changer!!! and at 48 i NEED this tip :) thank you thank you thank you!!
23 years of always clumsing around with eyeliner...and this is the tutorial that helped me the best. im so happy i found it, thankyou so much! it still worked even with my uneven hooded eyes!
This lesson could have been one of your one-on-one lessons just for me. All those mistakes on how to do a wing are what I do and I'm aware that it's wrong but never really knew how to fix it. I've watched other tutorials on youtube but somehow when you explained it I got it. Thanks so much!
@@anasya6196 lol sorry that made me laugh.. my eyes are at different heights on my face, one eyelid is droopier, and one eyelid folds over a little bit more on the outer edge. I gave up on eyeliner recently and have been doing only mascara.
@@icxcnika123 I have the same problem, on good day (when I have more time and patience) I can do an okey eyeliner but sometimes I just gave up, they are not always similar but eh I guess not everyone is blessed with makeup skills and good face 😒
Why is she just the cutest thing ever? I love her, and especially how she shows realistic mistakes. She's much easier to follow and relate to than many others that I've watched.
Thank you so much for making this!! I've looked up how to do eyeliner or eye make up looks sooo many times and every tutorial skims past actually showing and explaining how to get the full bold line and I always end up with it looking like the right side and not knowing how to improve it. Thank you!!
I've just finished watching your brushes videos because I can't stop thinking about them 😂 Now this! thank you Andreea for empowering women with makeup! You are well loved!
I know this video is old but thank you a lot, you were the only person in all platforms who helped me to achieve a good eyeliner. I will forever be grateful.
Tried and tested while watching your tutorial for the first time, Hands down the best and easiest winged eyeliner video by far and I have watched at least a 100 of them. Thank you very much...
Thank you for this video. I have been aware of making the mistake of putting eye liner too low at the outlet corner of my eye, and tried to fix it, but I didn’t really know exactly what to do. It was hit or miss, and sometimes I felt I made my eye look smaller by trying to loft the line too soon. This was so helpful!
I cant express my gratitude enough! I was doing everything you showed on the "wrong" side of your face - and I had always known it was wrong, I just never knew how to do it better. Now thanks to you, I do! I got it right on the first attempt and it's made me so happy.
This was so helpful! I've been doing winged liner for years and I still struggle. I've learned some of the "mistakes" you mentioned over the years, but my biggest challenge (having deep set, slightly droopy eyes) is lifting the wing so it lifts my eyes
In high school my friends literally taught me how to do the “wrong way” and I’ve been doing it ever since because I thought they knew what they were talking about. This video is SO HELPFUL.
I just did this...because I definitely did...what wasn't the best idea. There is like a 100% difference with how my eyes look and I love it. You are amazing! Love your channel
Its 's so easy to follow you by showing the wrong and better side. I like how you teach your way but not forcing or making feel bad. Im gonna practice the eyeliner with my hooded eyes! THANKS!
I think this is the best eyeliner tutorial I've seen so far, as I always did the exact mistakes you showed. Thank you a lot for all the tips and tricks, you're my favorite makeup youtuber, sending you lots of love! ❤️❤️😘
I am looking forward to trying this technique! I have hooded eyes and have never been successful at making it look right. I learned of your RUclips videos from my daughter who is in her middle 20s. Needless to say I am not young but you are never too old to try new things. Andrea, you are a wonderful teacher and congratulations on filming your master class videos. I wish you much success. I am praying for you, Alex, and the baby as you begin this new chapter in your life. I will pray for your mother as well. May God bless you and your sweet little family.❤️
i love it how nice a makeup tutorial can be without the "you did everything wrong!!!1!11"- tone and instead just be like "you can do this to improve, or you don't bc okey is sometimes just fine too". Thank you very much :) it's a very handy video and i'm sure it helped a lot of ppl with improving. And let me say: i'm very happy to see that even a experienced makeup using person needs time when it comes to certain things. that gives me hope and hopefully a little more patience in the future :D
THANK YOU!! For the first time in my life I can finally make one! Not that perfect but I'm proud of myself 😭 I've watched many tutorial videos but yours is so helpful and easy to follow!! 😭❤
Wow. Just starting to learn how to do eyeliner and I came accross this video and I have to say that she’s literally has the most warm hearted tutorial I’ve ever watched. Wish I could be her student. I’d never missed a day.
When you have hooded eyes, this is just so hard to do without looking odd. I prefer a ‘feline flick’ to a wing as it provides a little lift without getting crazy.
@@mz.abbott8365 It just means you extend your upper eyeliner beyond the eye in a little ‘flick’ or ‘tick’ which does not need joining far back to the eyelid like a wing. (What Andrea describes as a ‘mistake’! 😆) You don’t need as much space as for a wing, and personally I love the way it looks.
I tried this for the first time and wow! It completely changed my look! Amazing what these little details can do for you! Thank you for this wonderful tutorial!! ❤
I really liked that you showed that the “bad” way isn’t that bad. Because not everyone can wear the better version. I have to keep my eyeliner pretty low at the end because I have hooded eyes. And only if I wear it like in the bad version I don’t have to draw about the “hanging” skin.
This type of sharp-angled wing is not very pretty to me. I like more of a classic cat-eye like is common with Indian women and kinda 1960’s if I am going to have a distinct line and not smudged look. But, I honestly think she gave a good lesson and her sweetness and gentleness makes me want to watch more of her stuff. I love that she acknowledged that there are different ways that can look good and showed several unfinished ways that are unflattering (she is 100% right about not leaving a gap. It looks crappy if you leave a gap.) I prefer fine felt tip liner. So much easier than pencil and easier than liquid or gel pots. Glossier has the best easy one called Pro Tip. Thanks for sharing though. I like your brows and your skin and your voice, everything but that angled wing.
Great video. I wear my eyeliner like that all the time and was making the mistakes. THanks for showing me the right way. It looks way better now. THanks!
Thank you! I started doing my make up again after alot of “natural years” and I couldn’t understand why it looked so different. This explains it all. I had no consideration for the aging and continued to apply the liner as I did young. I’m looking forward to trying your technique. Thanks again!
I really enjoyed watching this video. She seems like the sweetest person and like she cares about helping others and passing on some knowledge and tips to other women. Her tone of her voice was pleasant to listen to and she kept my attention I didnt drift off watching her video and actuallly watched the entire thing from beginning to end. So glad I came across her and now subscribed and cant wait to see more video and learn some new stuff from her yay.
I’ve literally made all of the mistakes you showed the times I’ve tried putting on eyeliner, which aren’t many because I never knew how haha and it actually made me feel upset because I think eyeliner looks sooooo good on everyone else, but not on me😂 I’m so excited to try this method now😍 Eyeliner here I come😍😍😍
Fabulous, easy to follow, tutorial! Thank you! For me, eyeliner like this is a mystery (because I don't do it enough). Some days it comes together beautifully while other days it doesn't. It's all about practice, practice, practice! and I need to dare to wear it more often. Thank you!
That was awesome I needed this I’m running to my bathroom ASAP to start practicing I can’t wait. I have done the pull mistake because my right eye has the turrets and from winking uncontrollably for 31 years it’s very tight and wrinkled and almost impossible to use the pencil it’s too much skin. It’s not so bad from afar but when you get up close and put the pencil down then you see just how bad it is. So what im thinking is to take your advice and to sharpen my pencil and maybe find one that’s more of a glide. Thank you beautiful.

Great examples and realistic demonstration, such a refreshing comparison and practical tips I hope you’ll consider a video on what you do for your nails to look as classy and flawless as they do and what to avoid. Thanks for considering!
I do the “comma” shaped thing when I try to do a winged liner. This is very helpful - and shows me why I always hate how my winged liner comes out! i will keep trying.
Same Emily !!! This tutorial really brought a lot of clarity for me personally. The ability to observe not only her technique of the correct more appealing way of creating a cat eye With her also implementing the most common mistake that she has witnessed & actually putting that first for those of us who are making this common mistake to view. I think that was exactly what I needed to understand how to properly create the cat eye.

As for eye makeup remover, it should have oils in it... soak a cotton pad, and gently press & lay on the eye for about 3-5 seconds so the remover can soak on to the liner/mascara to break it up before actually rubbing it off.
I have heard that if you have eye gunk you struggle with that you need to start taking fish oil. No idea how that works...but could help maybe??
You are so nice, who were telling us what's wrong while trying not to hurt our feelings because we do it wrong. Love it.
I love it! You’ve renewed by interest in trying out winged eyeliner again with this tutorial ❤
I always find tutorials so difficult because our eyes are all so different.. the slant/tilt, shape, face shape, and more importantly (to me) the amount of eyelid that is visible when our eyes are open.. makes suuuch a big difference for what works and doesn’t work.
Much love 💗
Same here... 😢
Every time I wear makeup I come up with a new eyeliner shape
Same. I have different eyebrows everyday
Omg yeeeah
Me too
Damn so relatable sis
I tried this the other day and got so many compliments on the difference!
So there is hope!!
The "correct" eye has more lifted wing effect and is more flattering. I don't use this technique because I suck at it. She does it very well. Thanks
I usually don't like "mistake" videos especially 10 minutes long, but she speaks so sweetly and is so gentle I could not stop watching. I do not wear makeup but I want to try. I think she will be a great guide.
Everything you said is exactly how I feel when I do winged liner. Gaps, not filled in and the wing in the wrong spot! Thank you!
I’m actually already set on this, but I haven’t gotten the hang of liquid liner. Could you do a part 2 about liquid liner?
agree
The mistake with the liquid liner is that we use the tip a lot. See the way Andreea holds the pencil. Try to use the liquid liner like the pencil. A little slanted but horizontal.
warwickshire234 while I appreciate your intent, I have had it explained more than once. I need to see it. Also, no offense, but how do I know you even do eyeliner well?
@@warwickshire234
Exactly: that is what I was clearly explained in person by a make up artist when struggling with eyeliner my first times! Thank you... ✩✩✩
warwickshire234 I agree - it is so hard! I have tried holding it more horizontally and “feathering” in small strokes, and I just make a mess of it 😞
You are so beautiful...yes on the outside but also your fun, sweet, kind spirit.
She is like that big sister we all needed to teach us this stuff. It’s so nice listening to her, even her tough love is kind. 😅
This lesson could have been one of your one-on-one lessons just for me. All those mistakes on how to do a wing are what I do and I'm aware that it's wrong but never really knew how to fix it. I've watched other tutorials on youtube but somehow when you explained it I got it. Thanks so much!
It's extremely hard when your eyes are a bit different. Thank you so much for the tip. I definitely see the difference.
Yes! My eyes are sisters, definitely not twins. :-D
@@lanalegge6569 mine are not even friends
@@anasya6196 lol sorry that made me laugh.. my eyes are at different heights on my face, one eyelid is droopier, and one eyelid folds over a little bit more on the outer edge. I gave up on eyeliner recently and have been doing only mascara.
@@icxcnika123 I have the same problem, on good day (when I have more time and patience) I can do an okey eyeliner but sometimes I just gave up, they are not always similar but eh I guess not everyone is blessed with makeup skills and good face 😒
I know the struggle!! My eyes are so asymmetrical. One is more round than the other. With a lot of practice, I think I’ve got it down :)
Thank you!!
Thank you for this - I tried the ‘correct’ method today and I looked more awake and alert. I really love it! My new way of wearing eyeliner!
I've just finished watching your brushes videos because I can't stop thinking about them 😂 Now this! thank you Andreea for empowering women with makeup! You are well loved!
Which video?
THANKS!
The moment when the video changed to your Pre-eyeliner look... WOW. You look sooooo beautiful!
omggggg, you're amazing! Now I understand why my eyeliner always looks so bad, and I won't make these mistakes again. Thank youuu!!!
I love the way you share your method… politely delivered 😍🥰😘
i love it how nice a makeup tutorial can be without the "you did everything wrong!!!1!11"- tone and instead just be like "you can do this to improve, or you don't bc okey is sometimes just fine too".
Thank you very much :) it's a very handy video and i'm sure it helped a lot of ppl with improving.
And let me say: i'm very happy to see that even a experienced makeup using person needs time when it comes to certain things. that gives me hope and hopefully a little more patience in the future :D
I so appreciate your detailed instruction and explanations and, as others have noted, your gentle encouragement for us non-makeup artist types!
THANK YOU!! For the first time in my life I can finally make one! Not that perfect but I'm proud of myself 😭 I've watched many tutorial videos but yours is so helpful and easy to follow!! 😭❤
the space between the eyelashes and the line is the reason why I stretch the skin with my finger! time to practice now!
Wow. Just starting to learn how to do eyeliner and I came accross this video and I have to say that she’s literally has the most warm hearted tutorial I’ve ever watched. Wish I could be her student. I’d never missed a day.
I have over 20 years of MUA experience and this was eye opening! (no pun intended) I do my client's eyeliner this way but not my own 🤦🏼♀️
I like the way of teaching how to do makeup correctly.
You are Very patient, very clear and detailed.
When you have hooded eyes, this is just so hard to do without looking odd. I prefer a ‘feline flick’ to a wing as it provides a little lift without getting crazy.
What’s feline flick Dear? I don’t have hooded but “deep-set” winged tends to look JACKED up on me…it disappears lol 😂🥺
She is so quiet and polite! I love her
I tried this for the first time and wow!
THanks!
when you realise the wrong side is what you been going out with all these years :(
For like...12 to 15 years of my life... 😂
I was today years old when learnt my mistakes
The way I do eyeliner is not a "mistake". My eye anatomy is completely different than hers - her "right" way is just not possible for all people.
@@saravillablanca3177 there are tricks though
Same
Thank you! I started doing my make up again after alot of “natural years” and I couldn’t understand why it looked so different. This explains it all. I had no consideration for the aging and continued to apply the liner as I did young. I’m looking forward to trying your technique. Thanks again!
What a sweet, kind, caring lady! Yes, I learnt lots...but she made me smile so many times from her thoughtfulness. True beauty from the inside out 😊
I really enjoyed watching this video.
Thank you!
You do have a gently soul, thanks for the instructions, love it!
This is actually so helpful. I never do my eyeliner cause I don’t really know what to do most of the time. I’m going to try your technique 💖
What a nice way of addressing!!! So kind so friendly... thank you🙏
This helps me SO much when I actually SEE how drastic the comparison is

I finally feel like putting on some make up again and want to have fun with it. Thanks to you
I truly love the "gentleness" and soft caring voice Ali has...Such a lady!!!! thank your sharing grrreat makeup tricks of the trade❤💋
It’s like you’ve been in my bathroom mirror, watching me apply eyeliner all these years. 😂 I appreciate your gentle nudge with these instructions.
I am making all the mistakes lol You are the only beauty youtuber I can watch without getting intimidated. Such a gentle instructional style. Thank you very much for this video.

This is the first makeup tutorial I’ve ever enjoyed!! Thank you!!
Watched this last night, tried it this morning and 💥 BOOM 💥 my eyeliner was so much better. You’re a genius!
I was raised country by a tomboy mom. This is super helpful! I've been trying to teach myself for years on how to do all this, and which products in which order. Thank you!
Thank you for this fantastic tutorial! I
love how the “wrong” side was not exaggerated because it helped to get a realistic point of view! I was wondering if you could do an in-depth lip liner tutorial (how to over-line correctly w/o looking like a clown) and smokey eyes tutorial for hooded eyes one day? Big hug 💓💫
I love how feminine and clean this is! Thank you for the tips! I’m giving this a try
Just a big hug and a big appreciation for all your work!! You’re a true artist!! 🙈🤗🤗
Great examples and realistic demonstration, such a refreshing comparison and practical tips
I hope you’ll consider a video on what you do for your nails to look as classy and flawless as they do and what to avoid.
