No truer words: "hooded eyes at 40 are different than hooded eyes at 50 or 60". My hooded eyes are now 73! I cannot wear any shadow other than matte any more. My eyelids have too much loose skin. Plus my eyes are subtly shaped differentjy. Ugh! If I don't wear shadow I look sick. Shadow always makes my eyes look bigger. I refuse to leave the house without it. Your techniques are perfect for me. Thank you, Risa.
I’m 86 with heavy hooded eyes and don’t wear shadow because I just make a mess. This is definitely the best tutorial I have ever seen you explain everything so well. Thank can’t wait to try this
I'm almost 46, and you are the FIRST channel that has suggested using a smaller, denser brush in place of the bigger, fluffy one. We hooded girls just make a mess with the fluffies unless we're softening edges.
I just turned 61 and have Graves disease. There is no visible lid left because of the swelling. I just tried your tutorial, and OMG! I can't believe the difference! Thank you thank you thank you! I had given up any and all eye makeup. I feel like a new person! Now when I go out I feel more together and like my old "girlie" self. I can't thank you enough for caring about us. I feel like when women reach that "certain" age, no one cares anymore. Please keep up these videos, you've got a follower for life! Lol
Omg you are so sweet. I hope you are living your best life. I know you feel like people don’t care anymore, but there are some out here! I wish I could give you hug and take you to lunch once a week or something. I hope you’re giving yourself a lot of love and care you deserve. I love that you watch these tutorials to pep yourself and try new things. Never give up! Right? 🤟
I had Graves .Disease UCLA Chief Surgeon Dr. Michael Yeh removed my thyroid with his Jr. Surgeon. Best decision of my life. I said no to radioactive pill. I take synthroid every morning , no issue at all.
I just turned 70 3 days ago. I was a cosmetologist for 45 years, worked a lot with makeup also. However, now that I’m older, I see where these ideas will help for my changing look. Thank you!
Over the years I have watched a ton of makeup tutorials but this is the first time I’ve ever commented. I am 68yo and, needless to say, my eyes are very hooded. The techniques in this video are game changers! Not only are my eyes transformed, but my entire face looks 10 years younger. I would never dreamt what a difference this would make. Thanks for this fabulous video!
Thank you Risa! You are so correct. It’s not fair to watch someone with 20, 30, or even 40 to say hooded eyes can be enhanced a certain way because in reality if you are 50+ it just won’t work! It’s so frustrating to try to apply eyeshadow and it look nice. I appreciate your videos and tips for us 50+ ladies dealing with “Mature” hooded eyes. I’m 53 and have small eyes to begin with add the addition of my hooded eyes being small and heavier with age I’ve felt like I just can’t do it without it looking like a hot mess. I’m short on time in the mornings, but I want my eyeshadow to look put together. Thank you and please keep giving us techniques that will help us all achieve that look like yes that is beautiful… Just like you.❤️
I’m 73 and have just started Re learning to apply make up! This video has made the most sense to me than all the ones I’ve watched so far! Thank you for your presentation. I will be watching it very often to hone my skills. This video is packed with lots of info & I will enjoy it each time I know! 20:27
I was always under the impression that “hooded eyes” were very big and wide with a defining crease on the eyelid a la Paul McCartney. You seem to be creating a hood around your eyes, thus making them bigger and actually hooded. I’m now 72 and have very big eyes, and find a lot of skin sagging over what used to be hoods. Your eyes look great with make up.
At 64 with practically no lid space due to heavy eyelid folds - I should really say collapsing but whatever - this video gave me back much needed hope to get my eyes look their best as I go into the office every day. Other videos on this subject don’t even compare to yours. Thank you!!
I encourage you to get creative! Though you may be more limited on the lid, the bottom lash line, inner eye, and outer eye areas are fair game if you’ve got the real estate!
A lot of content creators either don't address or downplay corners in videos so I appreciate that your tips focused on how to make those smoother while dealing with common problems placing pigment there. I have the same hooded eyes & issues as you do, and struggle with the corners!
😊 19:51 Risa I'm 63 and just got an amazing man in my life after being alone for 26 years. It has made me really want to take care of myself and start wearing makeup more often. I have been watching videos for makeup for women over 60. I realize I now have hooded eyes. All the videos I watch show using eyeliner to lift up your hooded eyes. That's too hard for me. I stumbled on your video, and you're a genius! I love the way you do your eyes. I'm going to be watching more of your videos!! Thanks so much for sharing your makeup artist tricks with me!!
I gave up on makeup 20 years ago because of my hooded eyes. You've given me hope again, but now I have to buy all new products and brushes since I threw it away. I'm 65
Yes yes yes!!! I think we just give up because what worked in our 20s and 30s doesn’t any more!!! I related to you so much ! In your post you said “you threw it all out” I did too! And i gave 100s (literally) of brushes and makeup to my daughters! Your post really resonated with me. Maybe we aren’t meant to be invisible after 40. We just need a new technique and new brushes!!! Take care! Amy😘
I stopped when the chemistry changed. A lot of the makeup I used, especially the fountain, caused me to break out. Now I'm completely clueless as to what to use.
I’m a pro MUA and I wanted to let you know I saved this video as a technique reference for myself personally as well as for clients. My own eyes became hooded with the passage of time and I needed to adjust my personal application. I’m working with a mature actress this week and I came back to refresh my info. You are correct, no one knows a hooded eye better than someone with a hooded eye. Your method really makes the eye look larger. I refer many friends and clients to this video and your channel. Thanks!
So I have watched youtube videos on everything to the point of feeling I have my PHD from youtube university. For some reason I never thought about makeup techniques. I just sat here and did my eyes along with you and feel like I sliced 10 years off my age. I am 42 again which is my favorite number! Thank you!!
I can't thank you enough for this video. When I noticed that my eyes started to hood, I stopped wearing makeup completely. You have shown me that I can make my eyes better. Thank you! I would be forever grateful if you gifted me the exact products you use because you look amazing!
Wow! This is a game changer for me! 68 yrr old makeup enthusiast here who has watched several other hooded eye tutorials but never was able to achieve the blended, non heavy look with my shadow. You are an excellent teacher and can really beak down the process step by step. Thank you!
So excited to finally know how to make the most of my hooded eyes. I'm 55 and was so frustrated with my eyes that I stopped wearing eye shadow all together. You've not only educated me but inspired me as well. Thanks so much!! Have a blessed day ❤️
Im 44 and I tooootallly get the frustration with my partial hooded eyes and finally! I make up artist with hooded eyes herself who gets it :) thank you so much! This really helps.
Risa. You are a true champion. This is the best technique ever, for my 52 year young hooded eyes. I too have one eye more hooded than the other. Keep up the good work. ❤❤
I am 52 and what I could do even 10 years ago does not work today. I love the new technique. Thank you Queen Risa. I also have to say I’m still loving and have repurchased several times your lashes with BK Beauty. You nailed them! ❤❤❤
It's kinda depressing sometimes. I stopped doing makeup at all almost 10 years ago. Now I'm 41 and just getting interested again, and nobody prepared me for how much it would change. If I knew, I would have had fun and experimented more while I could. But content creators like this help so much. If I was on my own I would just get frustrated and disheartened trying to do the wrong things for my eyes.
Great tutorial. I used to do makeup years ago, I am now 65 years old and there is always still so much to learn, especially because makeup products and fashion changes every decade or less. I found it cute when you spoke about “very difficult”, try my age, the word it’s “almost impossible” but with new techniques and lots of patience, we, mature beauties, can get the job done. Thank you again.
Loved this tutorial! Now if you could condense it into a 5- minute morning routine, it would be perfect, lol!! You are so right, each decade brings on new challenges! At 62, my hooded eyes are a constant challenge!! You are a beauty, thanks for the product info too!! 🌟
Your makeup is so flawless and natural looking! I turned 40 and i am finding out that none of my old makeup works for me anymore and i feel like im relearning how to apply makeup bc its all changed, from my skin going dry, my new creases, changing all the colors to soft neutrals, changing the coverage and finding a differabt base for foundation......I need videos like this theyre a huge help! Thank you!!
I never had hooded eyes...until I reached my late 40's. Partially hooded, I can relate to the frustration when trying to draw a wing at the outer corners with skin obstructing the process. Make up application techniques are now different at my age. The skull and eye sockets shift as we age. Eyes retreat further back into their sockets calling for different make-up maneuvers. But it's fun learning new things all over again. Wonderful tutorial, thank you!
So glad I found your channel. I just turned 71 and grew hooded eyes and have been at a loss on how to show them at their best. I learned today that I am using incorrect sized brushes for one thing. I also learned about eyelid concealers. Now I must practice, practice, PRACTICE ! Can’t wait for more tips! Thank you! Dee from AZ 👩🏼🦳🌵🌹🍷🙏🏼🇺🇸
WHO needs a cosmetic surgeon when we have Risa?????? Nice job girl! Great tip on pat, tap, punch, blend. Having hooded eyes myself this is a game changer!😉
At 48 I got hooded eyes and have struggled ever since with applying makeup and also feeling confident at all! THANK YOU so much for these tips - I used them and it worked so wonderfully and I am feeling so much more confident! !! I appreciate it! THANK YOU!
So, I'm 20, but I do my mum's makeup sometimes & she has hooded eyes, so that's why I'm here! Thanks for the tips, your makeup looks phenomenal, and you don't look a day over 26 haha
Dearest Riza because of your videos on hooded eyes and other make up techniques, I was inspired to improve my overall appearance again. I now have been doing the hooded eye technique you have demonstrated, although I haven’t perfected it yet. 🎉I also am motivated to dress up nicely again. Thank you for inspiring a 65 year old woman. You rock my world. I love your style. You’re God sent! If I could give you a thousand thumbs up I would. ❤❤❤
Thank you for being vulnerable to help women to look their best at various life stages. I am 65 and want to wear makeup more often for a clean, professional look. Your taking time to present this step-by-step video will help me to do this every time!
Loved the intro on this one because I think makeup culture has kind of (sadly) shifted away from being about enhancing things we like about ourselves to creating or seeking the same aesthetic. ❤
Things definitely changed when I got into my 50s. I, too, have hooded eyes and found that I have been doing these techniques for a fews already. I LOVE my slanted brush, I use it for my eyebrows since I don't really have any. Thank you for this video.
Love! Several years ago, one of my co-workers did my eyeshadow with the urban decor neutral pallet and it made such a difference. I later purchased the same pallet, brush etc. but haven’t been able to replicate (I have hooded eyes and I don’t normally wear eyeshadow because I just don’t know how to apply without looking worse). I think this technique is very helpful!!
I love your videos Risa❣️ I am 53 with hooded and textured eyelids. And I love me some sparkle. I try to do the sparkles tastefully without looking like I’m trying too hard. Eyeshadows are just my jam😍. I would love to see you do a glam look with some shimmer and bling. Thank you so much for sharing all your tips and tricks! Xo😉
Thank you so much for not holding back and showing step by step tips. I never had hooded eyelids and over last few years I do. I am 52 and needing a new way to put on makeup so your expertise has been a huge help and very inspiring!
Thank you Risa, I’m new to your channel, I’m glad I found you. I have extreme hooded eyes and a downturn right eye, it’s so difficult trying to put eyeshadow when your eyelids folds. I love watching your tutorials because I can actually relate. Your beautiful and thank you for all the tips and tricks.
My right eye turns down, kinda droops, very visibly now, ugh, I've found that I can make it look like the other one by drawing the eyeliner line higher at the outer drooping corner, it gives the illusion that they match❤
Love this content Risa! I try to go very lightly with my eye makeup with 3 different shades of the same color palette for a “no makeup” makeup look for work (bedside patient care). This tutorial has really helped me refine that natural look and lift my 61 year old hooded eyes (right is heavier and minimal lid space than the left eye).
This is just one reason why you are kind of a master at what you do. Well, it doesn’t look as seamless as what you did I’m going to keep practicing because your techniques have helped me so much and it definitely looks better than it did. As someone with hooded eyes, your information is invaluable and seeing how you look, when you’re done with your beautiful process is beyond inspiring. Bless you. 💜🦄💜
So many amazing tips that I found myself rewinding to watching them over and over to remember the technique! Really super informative and practical applications 💜
Thank you! I’m a 58 y.o. with hooded eyes, and yes, one of them is more hooded than the other, making eyeshadow application tricky. I can’t wait to try this technique!
You look gorgeous, as always! Hooded eyes are for sure beautiful, but when the skin on the eyelids become more loose and crepey, eye makeup is challenging. This tutorial is very detailed and explanatory, so I definitely will have to try this method. Hoping I will manage the way you did the outher half and corner of the lid. That really did wonders. Thank you so very much! 💕
OMG !! You are amazing ! You have no idea how self conscious I’ve always been about my hooded eyes , and they get worse the older I get; but this is a game changer , I can’t even express how thankful I am to you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hooded eyes for the win!!!! I agree with you completely that the hooded eye is ever changing. I'm 59 and can see a huge difference in my eyes. The outsides of my eyes are getting a more downward look...but, hey---Lauren Bacall rocked her beautiful hooded eyes too!!!! Thank you for this one!!
Risa, thank you! I’m older than you and have discovered my eye shadow technique I’ve used for years no longer works on my hooded eyes. Suddenly they are even more hooded and I was panicking! I found your video just in time! I can’t wait to try this!
Thank God someone did a video on hooded eyes!! I love your techniques and I didn't think there was hope for me to wear eyeshadow. I didn't know they were called hooded eyes. I just knew that over the years my eyes started changing so I gave up on wearing eyeshadow. This is an area I think needs to be addressed more often. Thank for doing videos for people our age. Just because we are older doesn't mean we stopped wearing makeup.
I loved this tutorial as someone in the hooded eye community 😆It turned out great when I tried it and I loved that I didn’t feel like I had to buy all new makeup. ❤
I was sooo happy to find your channel Risa because you and I gave the same eyes. Very hooded. Not deep set. You've taught this 55 y/o woman so much shout how to make my eyes look beautiful in my 50s. You will always be my go to
I really appreciate this tutorial. I'm 74 and I think I can pull this off. I'm going to try. I'm going to check your other videos for makeup application. Love how healthy and glowing you look.
masterclass indeed! something that normally we have to pay to watch. thank you. i don't usually do an eyeshadow just the one and done liquid eyeshadow since my hands have no art whatsoever but i learned how to do the wing eyeliner which until now i fail but i will try again using this.
I don't wear makeup much at all. I was not taught a technique. I have always had hooded eyes but because I'm now 51, I notice it more. I enjoyed the tutorial but for me, I would need products that are more affordable for someone who would do this for special occasions. You're a beautiful woman, thank you for your help!
Great tips. I usually use a small pencil brush or a smaller dense brush like you suggested to work on my crease before blending it with a “ fluffy” brush. Makes all of the difference.
Oh my goodness! I can't thank you enough! Lately when I look in the mirror or at a picture, my eyes just look bad! And I have not done anything differently. I'm turning 50 this year and realize I SHOULD be doing differently. Just tried this and it's wonderful. I know as I practice this it will get even better. Next step will be to adjust my foundation/concealer/highlighting. Thank you!!
As always, your understanding of the ever-changing challenges we face as we age is very much appreciated. Great job on the tutorial! Have a couple of new tricks to try out! The only thing I still haven’t learned to do is apply false eyelashes. I’ve watched your tutorials and others but I just can’t seem to get them on correctly. But I’ll keep trying or they will invent a new false eyelash product that even I can do! Thanks again Risa!
Thank you for this video. I followed step by step and my eyes turned out great. I agree with all the other comments, finally someone with hooded eyes doing a very easy step by step tutorial. Well done and thank you again.
You are such a great teacher and I think you are absolutely gorgeous!! You know exactly how to show your eyemakeup better than anyone!! Thanks so much!!!
Thank you for you confidence booster. As an aging woman I don't find it necessarily inappropriate to wear your looks, however I do find it to get more difficult to apply the look correctly due to failing vision, and shaking hands. This makes me give up on wearing makeup altogether. Not to mention the time it takes. I get tired after a time. So if you have something that's quicker, that would be great. Thanks
Hi Risa! Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial. I really appreciate you taking your time and really showing us clearly where the placement needs to be. I am 48 nearly 49 and the skin on my eyes I’ve noticed just recently is so much looser than it was, and one eye is more hooded than the other 🙄 so I’m really looking forward to trying your wing technique. Many thanks again. Much love from the UK xxx
you made this very simple and easy. ive struggled with eye makeup bc of my hooded eyes. for many years i didnt know what the problem was! i cannot wait to try this technique. thank you
Brilliant video Risa and one I will be keeping in my library and using for reference. I never suffered from hooded eyelids, but as I'm getting older (60) in September they are now heading south (as is everything else) aah the joys of getting older it's truly wonderful, anyway great video and thank you 🌟
First, you look amazing! Second, starting anything, no less a a new career and business, at 42 is remarkable. You should teach a master class in taking risks! lol Lastly, this is the video I have been waiting for. Love your learned-through-experience techniques
I've basically given up wearing makeup at all as, at almost 60, my hooded lids now sit directly on my lashes. I'm going to experiment with these techniques and see it it helps at all. BTW, thank you. It's fantastic to get this kind of advice from someone who actually has hooded eyes, too. You get us!
Thank you for this video. After 30 years of wearing make up I’ve never been able to get my eyeshadow and not make my eyes look bad and I nailed it the first time I appreciate that you’re realizing that people can’t always get the expensive brands, but I’m definitely going to get an eye primer
This video changed my life, I'm completely serious. Thank you! For my entire life I've never really worn much eye make-up because of my hooded eyes. Everything I tried looked terrible. I felt I would have to be content with a little mascara and a bit under my brows. I followed this exactly and I can't believe it! I'm going to be 50 in a few months, and this took a decade off my eyes!! Thank you!!!
This was SUPER helpful! Usually I cannot follow video techniques when I do my own hooded eyes but THIS was the first time I could do it nicely myself. You are the best!!!!! Thank you so much for all these tips❤!!!
I’m going to try this technique but hold out little hope it will have any longevity on my skin. I’m 78 and have eye folds across the whole of my eyelid and wrinkles at my outer corners. I do use lid primer and powder. I have no trouble with eyeshadow on my upper lids. However, eyeshadow and eyeliner on lower lids usually smears and disappears in no time at all. I’ve tried waterproof pencils and liquid liners. Tightlining works but I can’t bring color from the eyes out to the sides without it smearing probably due to wrinkled skin that rubs it off. I’d like to use false eyelashes or wispies on a regular basis but find them nearly impossible to apply. I should probably revisit your video demo on false eyelash application but any extra tips for us older ladies would really be welcome.
Giiirl! This look is my new holy grail eye shadow formula for my "fancy" occasions. That includes work. I'm a professional character actress. Sometimes I work with the largest company on the planet for that. I have naturally massive eyes- but deep creases and small lid estate comparatively. I can't tell you how many times people have seen me, believed I'm perfect for the role, then gotten me into "the makeup" only to decide that I don't fit the role, strangely. I have pale, pale skin with striking contrast between my skin, eyes and hair, plush lips and huge eyes. I fit the roles, but their assignment of literally just one makeup type per character is ruining a lot of great opportunities for themselves and many people. My features are so cartoonish, sweet, balanced and feminine that I don't tend to wear a lot of makeup anyways, and I have perfect skin. For almost every non formal occasion, I just need to moisturize my face, add a shimmery glow booster, a little cream blush if I like, concealer for my eyes, some tinted jelly lip gloss, a bit of brow pencil, then I buff ivory pressed powder into my skin and top my lashes with lengthening mascara and I'm set for 18 hours minus powder touch ups. My features speak for themselves. I love that your eye makeup style in this video is literally just that: it's an ever so slight, elegant enhancement of what's already on the canvas. I've just done it for the first time on myself and I'm honestly mesmerized. For the first time in my life, I feel like I am wearing eye makeup and not vice versa. Usually, getting into professional makeup, they require that you must absolutely wear a lot of heavy black liner and thick black mascara or thick black falsies. I would do it, then quietly draw the liner on in a thinner style and do the wing in a more appropriate fashion for my eyes and they'd let it go because it looked so nice, but I'm going to show them this style and pitch it to them: Doesn't it look so sweet, young and fresh? Wide open, wide awake? Natural? Harmonious? And with a shimmer or glitter on the first part of the lid, enchanting? 😂 I'm rocking your eye makeup style with a bold red lip right now and everything on my face looks elegant, harmonious, fresh, young, enchanting, balanced. Usually doing a full face with the common eye makeup looks fake, heavy, garish on me.. not today. Risa, thank you so much for your genius makeup video. I'm thrilled it showed up on my feed ❤
This is absolutely fantastic Risa 😀 I’ve saved it to my playlist to use next time I do my eyeshadow. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience ❤
I'm a former Cosmetologist, 51 and have used pretty much this same technique(applied differently)all my life. The skin on my eye lids are beginning to really sag(hood) This is a great refresher and NEW WAY to get my eyes done! Thank you sweet lady. 👁🗨 ✍️👨💻 💄🎨👓
This was so helpful. I despaired I'd never be able to wear eyeshadow on my extremely hooded eyes again, but now I feel like I have some good tips and tricks to help make my eyes look nice in eyeshadow again. Thank you so much!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I stumbled upon this video this morning and did my makeup like you taught. This evening when my husband looked at me when he got home from work, he looked at me and said, "Why are you so pretty today?" My husband has never said that to me ❤️ So thankful for your teaching. I too am 50 years old and have so many new things to overcome with my skin and eyes.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have hooded lids, so I am going to try to do this. I am not real good at doing things like this but I am going to try. You are the best at explaining things to us. Have a great 4th!!
Glad i happened upon your tutorials. I am 58 and have been battling how to apply makeup my entire life especially with hooded eyes it has been a task without much success. I am looking forward to trying your products and techniques and fingers crossed I can make it work beautifully. I admit I need help. I deal with the public on a daily basis and I want to be presentable my lack of self confidence in my appearance makes me want to hide behind desks, counters and frumpy clothes. I’m an attractive woman but I don’t know how to bring out the real me with self confidence. I don’t have any family, it’s just me and I want men to find me attractive enough to ask me out. How you apply your makeup makes a difference. With many prayers I hope this helps.
Thank you! Heavy lids are a family trait. I've had them all my life and for years, waffled back and forth from very light tints--practically no color, to very deep and dark jewel colors, both trying to hide the heavy lids! Now that I'm 64, I just look so tired all the time and realize I need some lift. I recently lost the use of my dominant hand, so find these techniques are actually very simple, especially using fingers! Thank you, Risa, for addressing our aging problems.
Thank you! I have been searching for help with my 60y.o. hooded eyes. It feels like the beauty industry forgets about women over 50. You never see fashion or beauty products for us that make women our age feel sexy, valued, or appreciated .
You’re right, the beauty industry is not kind to women in our age group BUT there is hope, this channel helps us and gives us confidence. I’m 59 with hooded eyes and I all but gave up. Now I’m going to try to be more mindful with my eye makeup application.
@@victoriahollis3454 I use a mishmash of inexpensive brushes from Jessup (amazon), Maange (amazon), Coastal Scents, Quo (Canada), Still (Walmart), e.l.f., etc. I just look for small brushes or brush sets with little brushes in them, in the shapes I think would work for my eyes. I don't pay any attention to what the intended purpose of the brush is; some of the ones I use for my eyes are intended for the lips or for concealing!! 😄
Thank you so so much for this. This video has been a life saver. I'll be 37 in a couple of months and have tried for so many years to apply makeup. I would often give up, try again, and continue that cycle. Specifically because of my eyes (lips too but that's a whole other thing lol). I recently tried again, and felt defeated. My eyes are extremely hooded and almost give off monolid, the skin texture of my eyes has always been loose and can seem quite wrinkly when applying eyeshadow. This video has helped me immensely, and I'm happy to finally be able to try makeup again. You've given amazing tips, I'm truly grateful and happy to be able to wear makeup with confidence. Thank you! 💕
I thought it eas just me. I was so glad to hear you say that hooded eyes are different as we age. I have never really been into makeup until about 20 years ago. So I'm kind of slow at learning how to apply different techniques. It seemed like they would work at first and then stop. Now I know it is because my hooded eyes are different at 61 than they were even at 55. I'm going to try your technique and hopefully, I will see the difference. Thank you again.

Risa this Look is Stunning!! Hooded eyes or not we could All use a Lift! I’m going to use these tips!! Thank you!!
Just ahead of you at 75! I agree, make up is even more essential as we age. Further, it takes a deft hand! 😅
My hooded eyes are 77 and I still love shimmer…but I’m aware I’m going to run out of time for the shimmer! 🎉
Soon to be 70 and I love her techniques❤
Just turned 65, & I just can't let go of using shimmer shades on my lids, lol. I probably shouldn't, but ...
FINALLY someone with actual hooded eyes doing hooded eye makeup!! thank you for this
Lol I read this comment on every hooded eye video I watch
Same! They always do them on barely hooded eyes....not one with a literal fold. Thanks!
I’m 86 with heavy hooded eyes and don’t wear shadow because I just make a mess. This is definitely the best tutorial I have ever seen you explain everything so well. Thank can’t wait to try this
I love you wearing makeup and still learning ... I'm 68 and trying to stay motivated to care about my looks. Hugs and thank you
I'm almost 46, and you are the FIRST channel that has suggested using a smaller, denser brush in place of the bigger, fluffy one.
Lol
63, same issue! No visible lid at all. Can't wait to try this!
Right? 🤟
Agree agree agree! Thank you!
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you and please keep giving us techniques that will help us all achieve that look like yes that is beautiful… Just like you.❤️
Risa Thank You for your NO BS attitude- we look to you influencers for real helpful suggestions -you are the real deal !
I really appreciate you posting.
I’m 73 and have just started Re learning to apply make up! This video has made the most sense to me than all the ones I’ve watched so far! Thank you for your presentation. I will be watching it very often to hone my skills. This video is packed with lots of info & I will enjoy it each time I know! 20:27
I'm 65 - I agree with you!
Thank you!!
Try tape for hooded eyes. A real game changer for me.
Yes, yes, absolutely please keep.
I am 59 and I wear glasses, but I now have hooded eyes and kind of gave up on eye makeup, but I’m going to try again. Good for you…
I’m a pro MUA and I wanted to let you know I saved this video as a technique reference for myself personally as well as for clients.
Thank you!
😊😊😊😊😊
So excited to finally know how to make the most of my hooded eyes. I'm 55 and was so frustrated with my eyes that I stopped wearing eye shadow all together. You've not only educated me but inspired me as well. Thanks so much!! Have a blessed day ❤️
Im 44 and I tooootallly get the frustration with my partial hooded eyes and finally! I make up artist with hooded eyes herself who gets it :) thank you so much! This really helps.
‘Arch and out arch and out…’ that may be my new mantra. Thanks for another helpful. My faves are long form tutorials. ❤
Please make more videos.
Love that you're doing a fashion.
Learning a lot from this video.
I agree!
That’s what I need!! A 5 minute routine, but with these results!! 😂

THANK YOU!
I have really hooded eyes and your technique is a life saver! Thank you for looking out for us hooded eyes girls ❤
This was fascinating !!!
What brush is she using to press the dark shade on the outer corner? I can’t really see it
You had me at being a RUclipsr over 40, talking about hooded eyes- with actually having hooded eyes. 🙌🙌🙌
Hooded eyes at 54, I needed this thank you
Thank you for being vulnerable to help women to look their best at various life stages. I am 65 and want to wear makeup more often for a clean, professional look. Your taking time to present this step-by-step video will help me to do this every time!
Risa, thank you, thank you, thank you! That was the best hooded eye makeup tutorial ever I’ve seen. I can’t wait to try it❤
Agreed!
Loved it, I learned a lot.
Loved the intro on this one because I think makeup culture has kind of (sadly) shifted away from being about enhancing things we like about ourselves to creating or seeking the same aesthetic. ❤
Completely agree, it is like we are all wearing the same mask.
Xo😉
Besties love.
Wow, amazing work.
Bless you. 💜🦄💜
They are sooo interesting.
Hi I am almost 70 and still love makeup. Your video has changed my application of eye makeup. Thank you.
So many amazing tips that I found myself rewinding to watching them over and over to remember the technique! Really super informative and practical applications 💜
I would love to see you continue.
I love your partners.
So fascinating and informative.
You will always be my go to
I like your quote a lot.
I like your video a lot !
She has hundreds of videos for this exact subject matter under videos.
Great tips. I usually use a small pencil brush or a smaller dense brush like you suggested to work on my crease before blending it with a “ fluffy” brush. Makes all of the difference.
I like comment your photo.
Love this series !
100% I'm in the same boat as you lol.
Great work as ever.
Amazing. Really helpful and good.
you made this very simple and easy. ive struggled with eye makeup bc of my hooded eyes. for many years i didnt know what the problem was! i cannot wait to try this technique. thank you
Brilliant video Risa and one I will be keeping in my library and using for reference. I never suffered from hooded eyelids, but as I'm getting older (60) in September they are now heading south (as is everything else) aah the joys of getting older it's truly wonderful, anyway great video and thank you 🌟
I like your video very much.
I love that you are straight forward, no nonsense with ridiculous takes. Your presentation is to the point and professional 🙏🏼
First, you look amazing! Second, starting anything, no less a a new career and business, at 42 is remarkable. You should teach a master class in taking risks! lol Lastly, this is the video I have been waiting for. Love your learned-through-experience techniques
Thank you! That’s not a bad idea! 😃
Finally I found someone who knows what I’ve dealt with for long time. Thank you so much!
You get us!
Always love watching your techniques. So helpful. I love how you do your eyes.
Thank you so much!
Your hair is very beautiful.
Thank you for this video. After 30 years of wearing make up I’ve never been able to get my eyeshadow and not make my eyes look bad and I nailed it the first time I appreciate that you’re realizing that people can’t always get the expensive brands, but I’m definitely going to get an eye primer
Way to go Risa! You knocked it out of the park! Thank you for the great tips; I will be trying this out tomorrow 😊
Thank you !!! Amazing work...
I would do it, then quietly draw the liner on in a thinner style and do the wing in a more appropriate fashion for my eyes and they'd let it go because it looked so nice, but I'm going to show them this style and pitch it to them:
Doesn't it look so sweet, young and fresh? Wide open, wide awake? Natural? Harmonious?
And with a shimmer or glitter on the first part of the lid, enchanting? 😂
I'm rocking your eye makeup style with a bold red lip right now and everything on my face looks elegant, harmonious, fresh, young, enchanting, balanced. Usually doing a full face with the common eye makeup looks fake, heavy, garish on me.. not today.
Risa, thank you so much for your genius makeup video. I'm thrilled it showed up on my feed ❤
I love your style, it's classic and never goes out of style. It's an amazing transformation with the punch blend etc. You are very skilled.
I was a makeup, and your technique is what I used “back in the day”. You are the best I’ve seen on eye tutorial. Beautiful
This is absolutely fantastic Risa 😀 I’ve saved it to my playlist to use next time I do my eyeshadow. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience ❤
I love you messages.
I'm a former Cosmetologist, 51 and have used pretty much this same technique(applied differently)all my life. The skin on my eye lids are beginning to really sag(hood) This is a great refresher and NEW WAY to get my eyes done! Thank you sweet lady. 👁🗨 ✍️👨💻 💄🎨👓
This was extremely helpful. Excellent! Thank you for sharing this.
I appreciate you so much for being with us !
So detailed and beatifully made.
This was so helpful. I despaired I'd never be able to wear eyeshadow on my extremely hooded eyes again, but now I feel like I have some good tips and tricks to help make my eyes look nice in eyeshadow again. Thank you so much!
This is so helpful thank you!
You're so pretty and talented-
such a good teacher! ❤
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I stumbled upon this video this morning and did my makeup like you taught.
This evening when my husband looked at me when he got home from work, he looked at me and said, "Why are you so pretty today?" My husband has never said that to me ❤️
So thankful for your teaching. I too am 50 years old and have so many new things to overcome with my skin and eyes.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have hooded lids, so I am going to try to do this. I am not real good at doing things like this but I am going to try. You are the best at explaining things to us. Have a great 4th!!
It is incredible...
OMG Risa! At 53 I’m fighting those freaking mutant rogue brow hairs down on the middle of my lids every 2 days! I thought it was just me!!😂
Hi Risa! Thanks so much for this video! You have taught me so much over the years!! ❤
Love is like the ocean.
Great explanations and demo. Thank you so very much!
You're very welcome!
I am 82 years old. I enjoyed this very much. I have small hooded eyes. Thank you.
I've been using a very similar technique for my deep-set eyes using teeny tiny eye brushes.
Any particular brand of brush? Im struggling to find small brushes
Thank you! 💕
This is the masterclass that I needed!!! Thanks, Risa ❤
I enjoyed reading this.
My Monday morning Risa is here and right on time! 🙌💜
