  • Warning: this material contains lead and could be hazardous to your health when cutting. The video describes the cutting and polishing of a faceted gemstone.
    most of the steps are covered but to due time limits not every step can be in detail. I use a manually operated facetron machine to cut.

    I'm surprised at the material. I would have not thought to use TV picture tube. Nice! Also excellent work.

      Hi and thank you for your comment. As a faceter and most hobby faceters might agree, im always looking for free or low cost materials to cut either for practicing a new design or otherwise and any kind of glass works well.

    A beautiful, well executed cut, Brent.
    I'm curious, having never cut TV glass before, do you wear a mask when faceting the "stone"? My reason for asking is that I've heard rumors that there can be lead contaminates in the stone.
    Thanks much for the nice video.

    • @tennpikr74
      @tennpikr74  5 лет назад +1

      John, ive heard of the lead concerns but i didnt worry about wearing a mask as long as i didnt create any airborne grinding dust. Polishing can be challenging because of scratching due to the softness.

      Hi, thanks for watching. you can learn from lessons by internet teachers or maybe by books and videos. This piece i cut i thin is glass which is softer than most of the gemstones i cut so no problem at all.
