  • I cut a 376 carat portuguese cut gemstone in the synthetic material Yttrium Aluminum Garnet or YAG. This material is used in the optics and laser industry. It can be purchased in several different colors.
    When i strated cutting the gemstone i had planned on cutting a variation of a standard round brilliant but after starting i decided to cut the portuguese design. Therefore i had to make the diameter smaller so the the gem would be tall enough for the portuguese deeper pavillion.
    I used an ultra tec v2 faceting machine w the digital angle readout which was added on.

    Hmm water on batt with 60K! Had no idea and will keep this in mind with my next YAG.
    Curious, the method you used to align the crown, zero cheater > placing the girdle on the lap at 96... What's the equivalent Facetron method, because I know you've used both. I'm thinking it can't be done with Facetron?
    Also the white turn table at the very end, where'd you get that?
    Thanks and nice work Brent.
    Jamie.

      @tennpikr74  2 года назад +1

      Hi, the facetron uses keyed dops therefore you would not need to align the stone. But if you find the crown facets are not aligning w the pavillion facets after transfer you can loosed the nut at the index gear end and align the girdle facets to the lap at the proper index setting. the turntable came from amazon, they also gave me a mirror disc to set upon it if i want.

    There is probably a solvent that could dissolve epoxy

    You can touch only the Stone in Ice, It Will shirink by termal dilatation and pop off from the epoxy.
