If this iPhone continuity works like the iPad to my Mac Studio, it wont work. I cant wirelessly connect my iPads to my Mac Studio. I have to plug them in to use the continuity camera.
Bought my first ever Macbook last month so pretty excited for my first software update for this. And it looks indeed packed with some very good features
I've just got a MacBook and I frequently think my iPhone notifications should come through to my MacBook, so it's a seriously good thing that iPhone mirroring is coming because that's just a next level continuity upgrade that makes me extremely happy I chose to get an apple laptop over a windows one, but I struggle to understand why it hasn't been a feature for many years.
@@ascoolasariv6969 I've had windows desktops for 10 years+ and haven't once seen a native phone mirroring software, even now on my windows computer I can't see a native phone mirroring app, we are talking literal seamless continuity from MacOS. if it was a feature that has "always" been available I would've seen, heard or at least used it by now.
The safari reader can already change its style and auto-activate on sites. The new thing is that it's better now secluding text, and has table of contents thanks to Apple AI.
You’ve also been able to change the font and select one of four background colors. Not sure why any of that is considered new. The only new thing would be a page summary and bullet points. All good to have, but some of that’s been there for years.
I've been using some native version of 'READER' for about two years. Not all articles and websites are available but I learned it from another blogger. Press COMMAND, SHIFT, and the letter R simultaneously. Great for these old eyes. You can customize the font and the colors of the text and background. It's Great. Bob
You've always been able to auto enable reader for whatever website you specify. I've had that feature enabled for many websites for years now. So it's not a new feature.
Regarding the concern at timestamp 1:10 - 1:32: The issue is happening because the developers of certain apps have not yet implemented responsiveness for split screen. Currently, the app has a default size, so it cannot be resized beyond that. The likely solution would be to make the side tray smaller, which would make the main section larger and allow the video to adjust to its preferred size.
The betas have been pretty stable. I’ve got betas running for Mac and iPad, though none of the others. I haven’t seen a single crash or any other instability, though I cannot get tiling to work at all. I never see those rectangles.
Just a wee comment: The reader has had the ability to change the page background colour, font type and font size for some time now. Anyone not on the Sequoia betas, looked at the reader button and you will see on the opposite end of the address bar the two As. Push that button and voila. Functions just like it does in iOS.
Notice how when you tile a window on Windows, the animation is buggy, and it has to recalculate/redraw the content with the new size. On MacOS Sequoia, it just resizes without any glitches in the application's content. I absolutely love that. However, the imperfect sizing of certain applications remains a dealbreaker.
My guess as to how apple added the window tiling feature even when microsoft owns the patent is that there's a slight difference in functionality. On mac, when you snap a window it doesn't fill to the edge of the screen, giving a slight gap unlike windows. I find this incredibly annoying and I can't think of another reason they would have opted for this instead of snapping fully to the edge. (I didn't read the patent details so I could be totally off)
one HUGE issue i have with the push towards Mac gaming is, that in order to play most of the titles i would need to buy the games trough Apple. so my collection of titles on steam or other stores would be useless.
GPTK is the biggest change for me. A lot of people, like me, have been waiting something like this. I'm very proud of Apple because they are taking things serious about gaming on Mac!
It's the thing I miss the most when I use my MacBook is how bad it is at managing screenscompared to my Windows machines. And even though I use Magnet too, it's still just not as good.
Safari Reader! A couple of OSs ago; Reader used to launch automatically when the 'start speaking' keyboard command was initiated. Now we we have to go to Reader Mode and then trigger Start Speaking. This is clearly much less good than it was before, so must be a bug that Apple forgot to fix.
I cannot believe that I’ve been successfully using a computer for so long without “hiking in maps“. Also, I couldn’t think of anything more annoying than I last notifications on my Mac while trying to get anything done on a computer.
Scaling apps -- well, that would work fantastic on an iMac or a monitor, though. Some apps need minimum width. I use a 1440p monitor with split screen 2 browsers, which works wonders. Make it 1080p, and halfscreen windows get very cramped.
Its cause their isn't much countinuity, the games valve (steam) ported over stopped working cause of the complete removal of 32 bit support of apps, so games that already where their had to be brought again. Its only gonna appeal to a very few niche set off games

The notes app just stops responding, the music app just plays the first 10 seconds of a song then stops, I don't know if it's just an M1 thing. Some third party apps glitchy with apps like Zoom leaving the orange dot close to the left of the notch (the wrong side) even when the app is closed. Many times when the lid is closed with a video paused or still playing in VLC, there is a weird unbearable sound that's played by the speakers when the lid is later opened (something like "zzzzzzzzz"). I Also hate the calculator App it's so small and can't be sized, Just look at the calculator in windows (it's way better).
