trevor randomly describing how to breed a pichu with volt tackle is truly the most trevor thing of all time
Sad.
Josh gagging jarlic water and Trevor immediately agreeing to let him do the same thing is peak “boys will be boys” energy
it reminds me of that video where some guy, prolly drunk as a skunk, is getting a pizza out of the oven and somehow manages to get the whole oven, the kind that has burners on top, to fall on top of him; or else one where they try to flip a pancake and the whole skillet comes off the handle
I'd willingly take a jarlic water shot. I know, I'm a little different lol
Jqrlic qater😂😂😂 Welcome ot beloved ×>13968 bqtmwll kludge Haha😅
Anyone know how long you can survive on just Toblerone? My grandkids have not been freezing me any thing evlsr😢 not even water all we have is coke zero 😮😂Baha
They both look stoned in this video
Past Foods with Josh and Trevor is one of my favourite Mythical Kitten series. Glad it’s back.
Daddy said to stay off the Comments kitten, you don't want daddy angry
Meow
I'd watch a Mythical Kitten show. But I think they are dog people. :(
I must have missed the mythical kitten series =(
Aw mythical kitten sounds so cute!
My family owned a Pizza Hut in the 90s to early 2ks. I can safely say, the P Zone literally bankrupted my family’s restaurant. Thank you for reminding me of why I had to wear Velcro shoes in middle school!!!!!!
i'm so sorry
Why
Lmao the last part 😭
keeping the mythical kitchen trauma dumping energy alive
I almost got a job as a waitress at one of the last dine-in pizza huts in western, WA but the GM never put me on the schedule after orientation. 😑
Never paid me for the 8 hours of orientation either which they promised. Ended up getting a great job a few weeks later but I still resent it lol.
Its now a chik-fil-a
Used to work at Pizza Hut. Regular pzones used medium size pizza dough. I would use large to make massive ones. And adding the white pizza sauce made it hit extra hard
And this is why they discontinued. All that dough wasted
Did it slap? I bet it slapped. It was a slap. It slapped hard. Slapping that sauce. Slap slap slap.
Slapped.
My mom managed a Pizza Hut during the p’zones prime. So she’d always make me one the way she knew I’d like, and they were /amazing/ and then one day I got one from another store and got reminded how much my mom loved me because the other one was trash 😂
MY SON TAUGHT ME HOW TO DO THE DOUGIIEERRE😂 Please send me some help my grandkids sold me to Indonesian traders and they won't give me food unless I do the dougie ten times a day, five on the weekends. Anybody else have the same problem?😂❤
And then everyone stood and clapped.
@@vincedibona4687 lol and what part exactly is unbelievable? 😂
They should make the 1950s Disney "Hand-wich"es xD its a Bread Cone w/ Slop inside - Josh will love it
So glad you brought Past Food back from the past!
Yes agreed!
This was absolutely the most unhinged episode from MK in a long time. I legit couldn't breathe multiple times. Had to ask myself multiple times if this is real life or if I am on drugs.
Absolutely hilarious. And long live the P'Zone!!!!
Much like being crazy and right, those aren't mutually exclusive. It was real, yes, but you could conceivably *also* be on drugs!
PLEASE CAL THE POLICE 😮 my name is amnthavan Andover 😅
the pzone was one of my favorite fast food items when it was around. one of the times they brought it back, around 2013 maybe, i bought a bunch to keep in my freezer out of fear that theyd go away again
No you didn’t.
@@vincedibona4687yeah totally unbelievable that someone would buy a few extra $5 food items for their freezer to enjoy at a later date
Josh: once you turn 27, you'll realize that conformity is actually really important
Also Josh: *Jarlic* , calls a pile of meat and cheese a salad, literally runs a podcast called is a hotdog a sandwich
If portmanteaux are nonconformist, I don't want to conform
I blame him for calling it jarlic now
8k I'm 90 yet old in real like my grandkids sold me to Indonesian traders help🎉😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😢
This was literally my favorite item from pizza hut growing up. I was legitimately upset when they got rid of it.
Me too! I remember my brother and I begging my mom to order p'zones for dinner after seeing the commercials.
@loran2156 Same here, also always asked for extra marinara 🤌. BTW, Josh said something about it was meant to be shared. 🤔 Do you know if that's true? 😳 Me and my bro each got our own and would finish them. But that was also back when I had a super fast metabolism and could eat a large pizza and not gain weight 😁 nut not anymore 😢😅 they always said enjoy it while it last and it's gone now 😩😅 anyways, was it meant to be shared?
Also, sry for the long comment and sry if I overshare. I don't talk to ppl very often anymore and not sure what to say and what not too 😋😅
@@matthewenfinger766 I'm trying to remember, I think we would get a few and share them. I don't remember if they came pre-cut or if my mom would cut them into like, 3 pieces each. Man it was so long ago
As a current pizza hut worker they still kinda have it, its just a melt now
Me too. My family loved them.
I love how quiet the tasting scene is, like no background music makes it all the more awkward and hilarious
ya know, I just realized Josh and Trevor are the 2 people you'd think would be in each others way because they both tried to fit this method of chaos. And yet this is weirdly one of the most calm episodes of mythical kitchen I've seen.Even calmer than Josh by himself.
Past foods idea: Wendy's pita wraps! No one believes me that Wendy's had pitas but they were fluffier than typical pitas and delicious. I think they had a ranch, cesear, and Asian one? I only ever got the ranch. It was soo good
I remember those, but I was really little and my mom worked at Wendy's when they came out. There was also a brief time when everyone started buying pitas from the grocery store to help with weight loss or something? Then the fad seemed to disappear.
Chicken Caesar pita wrap and a JBC after a night of drinking.. god, those were the days
Josh, if someone hasn't beaten me to it, calcium chloride is a salt often added to cucumber pickles, it's sometimes called Pickle Crisp.
It's also used to melt snow and ice in the winter.
Watching these two cook gives off major Dr Evil and Mini Me vibes 100% of the time
please never stop past foods, this is my fave duo. it’s like baby sitting the two brothers I never had
I remember eating the p'zone as a child (like, 10 yrs old?) and I loved that thing. I was experiencing it in the era of the brown box, tho, but also mostly eating in restaurant. I believe the PH of my childhood is either gone or, at the very least, no longer supports dine in.
When the Pizzone came out, as someone who didn't like sauce it was so awesome and it never tasted the same after it went away. I do miss that nostalgia from the original.
Josh and Trevor are an unstoppable duo that I’ll never get tired of seeing!
Whoa! I literally just watched the entire Past Foods playlist yesterday because I enjoyed it so much and thought to myself "I hope they keep this series going." Awesome of you guys to continue a fantastic concept! Thanks for putting out such enjoyable content Mythical Kitchen!
Joshs genuine joy at trevors norbit joke is wonderful :)
When they kept trying to bring it back, it was clear it wasn't the same as when it first appeared. I've thought about this thing on and off for years and i miss it everytime
You're forgetting the ORIGINAL....Back in the 80's when I was a young pup in high school working at Pizza Hut, we started serving the Calizza....exactly like the P'zone. In fact, when the breadsticks were introduced the marinara sauce was the Calizza sauce. We even REFERRED to it as Calizza sauce for YEARS.
😮
Dude, you don’t need to make things up to try and be popular. Just be yourself. Let the Pizza Hut go.
Does anyone else remember Pizza Hut crust being so much yummier in the early 2000's? It used to be light, fluffy on the inside and crisp and buttery on the outside. It was sooo good. 🍕
Because they used to make and proof the dough in each store. They don’t do that anymore.
I think P-Hut's "Pizza Melts" are a worthy successor to the P-Zone, great work on recreating this classic "handheld" pizza treat! Thank for uploading and thanks for making my morning great!
P-Hut is also the name of my bathroom
This also reminded me of the Pizza Melts.
Back when I worked at the Taco Bell, I did a brief stint at the adjoining Pizza Hut for some extra hours. This just happened to overlap with the 2019 p'zone appearance. I was surprised to find there was no sauce in it?? It just seemed like it would be real dry, even with all the grease. The customers were also apparently surprised, and we got several complaints about the lack of sauce. May have contributed to its not being brought back again. Anyways, one fun fact is that on the POS, it's listed under "sandwiches," and is the only thing on that entire tab
As someone who appreciates a good billboard shirt that narrates the inner monologue, Trever, bravo.
I actually worked at a pizza hut when the p'zone came out and they were so good fresh outta the oven. Damn man I need to get my p'zone on I'm gonna try making one haha
No you didn’t. Don’t try and fit yourself into other’s stories. Live your own life, man.
@vincedibona4687 wtf are you on about? Like no ones ever worked at a pizza hut before lol
I haven’t been to a Pizza Hut for a very long time, so this is the first I’m hearing that the Pzone is discontinued. Honestly, it’s a little heartbreaking.
🙄
21:25 Trevor saying "That was really good, dude" like a proud father who just watched their son make his first solid cast into the lake lol 😂
Trevor was delivering facts on the Pokemon Gen 3 Light Ball/Volt Tackle mechanics
You're right about margarine being from Napoleonic times! Napoleon's army wanted butter for their rations, but butter wouldn't keep that long, so they needed an alternative. It took quite a while to get a working recipe, the first iterations were apparently completely inedible. Iirc, of course.
All that missing is the "pizza rings" and the meat and cheese cups. Also, The PZone had a small cut in the middle before it cooked, and then you slice it in half after it came out of the oven.
Trevor definitely hit the green prior to this episode filming
Here at 6 am before my kids wake up for school!! I love cooking and when I need to just clock out and laugh I really appreciate this show and everyone who works on it ❤
The niche Light Ball tech from Trevor at the tasting is fun!
when he asked if he could eat the salad, that really resonated with me
Yes Josh, Margarine was created by Hippolyte Mège-Mouriès in 1869 in response to a challenge by Emperor Napoleon III.
Not in the Napoelonic wars but yes Napoleon’s nephew
Yes!!!!! Past Food!!!!! My favorite series!!!!!! I'm very happy!!!
I was thinking about the Big Foot episode while I was cooking earlier and hoping that there'd be some new Past Food soon. Perfect.
I had a friend who used to work for our local p hut. I don't remember most of his stories, but I remember him once telling me about a time he and his coworker were tasked to clean the yellow tiles in the kitchen... Can’t remember the tune, but he made a jingle about how the tiles went from yellow to white. This was a few years after people weren't allowed to smoke in restaurants anymore.😅
I loved the P'zone. Also surprisingly loved that cheeze-it thing they had for a short time.
The papa johns garlic sauce was a game changer. No other garlic sauce is as good. And their spicy garlic sauce is even better. As a major chain pizza joint it’s surprising to have such a tasty dipping sauce.
Most fast food type joints have been downgrading their sauces in recent years by entrenching them in corn syrup and becoming gross, but the garlic sauce is still surprisingly on point.
trevor knowing the details of volt tackle pikachu is so great, loved that dude before and now even more
That pizza melt thing they have now is my go to “work is keeping me late and I gotta grab something” dinner. It is by no means incredible but it’s solid (especially when paired with some spicy garlic wings), it’s not as big as a whole pizza, and the town i work in only has a McDonald’s and a Subway and a Pizza Hut and only one of those actively adds happiness to my life
I love calzones so much. they need to be more popular in fast food, i dream of the day calzones are finally mainstream, and I can drive around town, one hand on the wheel, one hand on my zone, blaring iron maiden and shouting at homeless people. but thats just a dream.
thanks for bringing back past food! perfect thing to watch while recovering from this week's chemo :3
I wish u all the best ❤️🙏
I actually loved the original pzone, but didn't like the new version in 2019. I started making my own calzones to try to imitate their crust because it had a kind of tough chew on a super thin crust. It's really incredible. I think they didn't use as much conditioner back then. I can send photos via twitter or insta and have a recipe too.
I am 3 minutes into this episode and I cannot believe they brought up the p'zolo. I worked at pizza hut when those were out and they were the BIGGEST pain in the ass to make!!
Worked and managed a Pizza Hut in 2017-2018, and I frequently made my own variations of p'zones. I'd usually stretch the dough more than it was meant (i.e. making a medium hand-tossed into a large) to cut down on the amount of bread in each bite. Personal favorite ingredients were medium buffalo chicken and bacon, with garlic parm as the sauce base.
I miss the creative freedom I had working there.
I had pizza hut for the first time in 15 years last week and now you're doing a pizza hut video... the stars, they've aligned
I was a server at Pizza Hut from 2010-2012 and the changes were nuts!
Didn't think I'd be hearing Josh talk about a "drag queen tuck" in this episode, but I did.
Health inspector here! The reason why they couldn’t give you the “raw” pizza toppings is because most pizza places use their bare hands to make pizzas. Therefore, the contamination is from their hands 😊
So happy! You two usually yell through the entire episode. This time you were just as "silly", but without all of the yelling. So much better! I still watch it all and enjoy it, but this was nicer. Great show!
I will forever be grateful I grew up with my dad making bread for the family. Didn't even know what wonderbread was until I was an adult. We'd get some premade/packaged bread for my mom sometimes but never wonderbread specific.
Worked in Pizza Hut in 2007/08. Watering down tomato paste and adding herbs is exactly how we made the sauce
I love these longer edits just watching these two fool around
Trevor is letting his intrusive thoughts win this whole episode XD Lol I thought he was gonna add legos to the dough 😅
I worked at Pizza Hut for 3 years making dough in the morning. We only use yeast, water, oil and we mix it with flour. Then we proof it. That's it.
Can y’all do a Past Food episode for the Burger King cheesy tots? I don’t know why it isn’t a permanent menu item. 😭
I feel so validated actually knowing what Trevor is talking about when he mentioned how to teach Pichu Volt Tackle lol
I don't think anything could possibly be more accurate than Josh's astrological sign pizza being a French bread pizza. He has been talking about those since day one, and I am living for this moment 😂
honestly didnt expect that pichu fact from trevor
The funniest part of this is that they’re like drunk form the jarlic
Juice
10:25 And it's also an ingredient in yoga mats... Real healthy! Gives you intestines something to work out on!
So, I used to work at Pizza Hut and while we didn't have this when I worked there, we had the Hot Dog Bites pizza (and also the Cock-a-doodle Bacon flavor). I can guarantee you that they had a press of some kind to seal the dough together, if they even made them at the store themselves.
Love you guys! You’re so entertaining to watch. I would LOVE to see The Long John Silver’s fish recipe figured out. I love that fish SO MUCH but live nowhere near one now. I miss it and wish I could just make it myself once in awhile. Thank you! You all are amazing and I look forward to many more episodes!
One of my favorite things about this channel is their commitment to actual home cooking and brutal honesty to their own cooking 😂
Rewatching Past Food on the regular was worth it to see new episodes
The PZone was definitely a favorite of mine when I was younger, so it was pretty cool when it came back in 2019
The concept of dipping Pizza is so alien to me.....
Yeah same
The thing about saying how sweet the marinara is - that's how Pizza Hut's sauce is. I had it a couple of years ago (because there was a Pizza Hut right at the bottom of the hill from my house) and the sauce was so sweet. Like I can imagine why young me loved going there when I'd get my free pizza from the Book It program, but 40 year old me could only choke it down because I didn't want to waste food by throwing it out.
I love it when Trevor gets all giggly
OMG! I weep for the missed opportunity for an Idiocracy reference with the diet coke. "It's got electromytes." "It's got what plants crave." I'm sure Josh has seen the movie. No doubt in my heart.
I won't be keeping it to myself. The custom BBQ Hawaiian chicken with PINEAPPLE Pzone with ranch dipping sauce I would order every Wednesday is what got me through college. BRING. IT. BACK.
Idk if anyone else has mentioned this but I do want to add it’s not just the dough conditioner that contributes to Americans having a bread/gluten issue. It’s also the way we grow and process our gluten that expands the amount of gluten per grain of wheat, mixed with pesticides, that many Americans are developing allergies or sensitivities to. Josh is absolutely right tho that it has been professionally studied on Americans who have gluten issues traveling to Europe and having little to no issue at all with their bread. We need to hold our country to a higher standard of quality in all food we put on the market
As someone who works in a pizza restaurant "beef topping" is ground beef that has been made in the same way as pork sausage topping but is only beef no spices or pork
How you going to do a Pizza Hut episode and not tackle the Cheesy Bites crust? P-Zone was just a crappy calzone, but Cheesy Bites were truly a horrific display of mankind's hubris. I worked superbowl night the week the cheesy bite was introduced....most chaotic single day of work in my life.
I just subscribed to this channel and man oh man. I’m deep in binge watching as many episodes as I can.
So many odd things happened at fast food pizza places in the late 80's-mid 90's. Josh is right in saying that delivery based models killed a lot these spots. Pizza Hut was one, but Godfathers was another. I remember the old Lunch all you can eat pizza buffets they both had. Always a great time as a kid. Like $5-$6 a head. Random pizzas would go up there. Some places would get creative chefs in the back and take requests from diners and see how they performed. The dessert pizzas were always great.
But there is one dine in pizza place that did survive....Round Table. Pretty sure they have contracts with Kid's sports programs so that the start and end of the season parties MUST be there.
12:28 this is the most perfect example of a millennial talking to a gen z person that I have ever seen. Just the millennial trying to have a regular human conversation and us gen z people just fully zoned out playing with legos
lmao, Josh and Trevor never fail to make me laught
Actual tears from an embarrassing burst of laughter escaped watching the garlic salt shots to the back of the throats 😂😂😂
Pizza Hut's melts are literally just a worse P'zone. Also didn't know until this the P'zone was meant to be shared. I always ate one on my own because I loved it.
Josh:
Margarine - a creamy butter substitute made primarily from vegetable oils - was invented by the French chemist Hippolyte Mège-Mouriés in 1869 after a food shortage prompted the French government to offer a prize to anyone who could create a cheap and effective alternative to butter.
I worked at Pizza Hut while I went to college. I had some pretty kickass managers who didn't take things super seriously. One of them would let us experiment. We messed around and make a chicken Alfredo pizza with a crust of cheddar cheese on top. To this day, one of the best things I've ever had lol. Had Alfredo sauce on it, the crunchy cheese balanced out the squishy pasta. We used the bread stick seasoning on top... It was great. Shout out to susan lol.
Marinara in Australia is in fact a seafood dish. Tomato based sauce with seafood mix in it
Pizza Hut uses french bread dough to make thier pizzas. Stoffer's just makes it smiply.
My mom loves these!!! Just figured out her Christmas gift- and my uncle's lead up to Christmas gift as I try to learn how to make this semi-reliably!
So delicious! Thanks for the recipe!
Past food is my favorite series y’all do. Shame that the Taco Bell quesarito is gone and would love to see y’all do that one. Simply one of the greatest culinary fast food master pieces and would love to know how to make my own 😜
I used to LOVE the P'zone.
My favorite fast food calzone will always be LaRosa's. I keep craving it since I moved away almost 20 years ago.
In Canada, we actually have those still! They're called 'P-Melts' for some reason. I have never had one and I feel better about that now
Trevor hitting us with the Pokémon facts bro
A Pizza Hut popped up across the street from the car parts store I worked at during high school. Don't remember if I liked it or not. I do remember turning the box it came in into a hockey goalies blocker pad/waffle for when we played hockey behind the counter.
Pzones were amazing. You could eat some and save the rest for later. That’s how big the original ones were before they started making them smaller
