  • Grand Power Line of handguns is one of those hidden gems that is unique in the market. The Rotating barrel system makes it a very soft shooting and accurate pistol. Made in Slovakia, it has the Eastern European flare. The X-Caliber is a match ready and the flag ship of the Grand Power Line.

    Chances of Glock implementing a rotating barrel are zero. They just started putting front slide serrations and optic cuts on their guns, they aren't exactly innovative. I love Grand Power, they are extremely underrated. I'll take their guns over Caniks any day of the week. Great video.

    We need more of these. Grand Power didn't even register in my mind, until you said Stribog. I wonder why more manufacturers don't do something with rotating barrels? I've never shot one, myself, but everyone I've heard talking about them loves them.

    Hi sootch00, Video Frame Rates. Broadcast Standards: Cinematic movies FHD 24fps; TV shows FHD PAL 25fps / NTSC 30fps. This is still a problem on RUclips and other media. High frame rates like 50/60fps show imperfections and can cause other playback problems. Shoot whatever high frame rates you like 50/60fps. High fps is for slow motion and editing. But render down in post production. Smoother and preserves the quality after editing. So the finished video is media broadcast standard: 24, 25, 30fps. Easier to watch on more devices, and share on more platforms. Check for yourself and best wishes.

    I have a Grand Power P45L, and I love it. Had lots of failures to feed and eject at the start. This was due to the fact that mag catch wasn’t holding the magazines properly. Once that was fixed, I have had no malfunctions with over 7000 rounds shot. The only complaint that I have, is that if you don’t have the barrel positioned just right…the reassembly will be a bitch. I did buy the Grand Power X-Calibre in an airsoft version.

    It's sort of pedantic, but different delay mechanisms can't really reduce recoil. They can change the shape of the recoil impulse curve, with the area under the curve staying the same. They can make the curve more consistent across different loads. But Newton is a real stickler on these things.

    • @raclark52
      @raclark52 27 дней назад +1

      That’s very pedantic. I would say “felt recoil” is different from recoil and is easily identified.

    • @ExtremeSquared
      @ExtremeSquared 27 дней назад

      @@raclark52 You're right. "Impulse curve" is an important part of that -- with misplaced spikes in the impulse curve leading to high felt recoil.

    Great review… And I do got a question, it was stated that the rotating barrel moves/rotates & slides forward when cycling. Is that true and how does that actually work? If someone could better explain that to me please?🙏

    • @6thmichcav262
      @6thmichcav262 5 дней назад

      There is a wide flute cut into the barrel toward the back. There is a round, hardened cross pin just behind the flute. The slide moves backward under recoil and unlocks the barrel. As the barrel moves backward from the bullet leaving the bore, the barrel strikes the pin and is rotated in the same ratio as the flute is cut. When the slide returns forward under spring pressure, the barrel moves forward and rotates back into position (again, with the flute riding on the pin). The slide then returns to battery until the gun is fired again. That is a highly amateur description, and I welcome any corrections.

  • @JohnHughesChampigny

    So is this rotating delayed blowback, like the MAB PA-15 or rotating locked like the Systema OBREGON? I.E. does the barrel rotate in place (delayed blowback) or move backwards with the slide and then rotate?

    if you can try out the big duty sized grand power LP 380 4.66 inch barrel, fixed barrel so it's accurate, seen a review on it and that thing can run fast with hardly any recoil, speed and accuracy is overwhelming even to sensitive shooters, trigger they claim is a amazing short reset into single action after the first double action pull, a 4.66 inch barrel is pushing a 90 grain hydra shock' 380 to 1070 - 1080 fps wich is maybe 90 fps faster then a 3.5 inch bersa thunder 380 like I have, the federal 99 grain hst rounds expect more velocity and limited use +P ammo like under wood you can use, a full duty size 380 that you carry on the hip but the speed and accuracy is it's upside, getting them bullets under stress and pressure where you want them to go is what it's all about, the heart, spine, head and won't be a problem drawing fast with that full duty size grip, almost like a CZ with very little recoil, could be a step up I power for weak handed or disabled people from other 380s and a 22 lr, a ambI gun for rights and lefty shooter and feed ramp is direct feed, I think double stack 15 round mags, double strike capability, rail for weapon mounted light, cock and lock carry to if you want

    The rotating barrel does not make it a delayed blowback operated gun. It is still a recoil operated gun, the difference being in the lockup of the barrel as it recoils compared to Browning link or linkless lockup of most handguns. Blowback guns have fixed barrels. If the barrel moves, it's definitely not blowback operated.

    You would think they would chamber the new guns in ten millimeters and a half the best of both worlds between nine millimeter and forty five.

    Never ever seen a Grand Power in the wild. Good luck finding magazines or holsters. Or spare parts. Or service in case anything breaks. FedEx it to Slovakia?
    The rotaing barrel system theoretically gives better accuracy as the barrel is not tilting up and down requiring very close fitted bushing fit and lug fit to get consistent accuracy. Same argument for the Walther tilting wedge system that allows the barrel to remain on the same axis using a falling wedge to unlock the barrel from the slide.
