    I am a big fan of the rotating barrel design. I owned a Stoeger Cougar 8040 and the recoil reduction due to the rotating barrel was remarkable. I really appreciate your reviews of pistols that fall in this price range like the TP9SA you recently featured which had been on my radar before the upgrades were made and has moved up the list thanks to your review. Keep 'em coming Sootch and may God bless you in the coming year.

      @@sootch00 I have the TP9SA as well as the TP9V2, probably both bought based on your reviews, lol! I think the SA has the nicest out-of-box trigger I have ever felt, in fact I have accidently discharged it twice since owning, the trigger is so delicate! The V2 provides a standard de-cocking, puts it directly into DA mode without having to rack the slide to fire it. Trigger is still nice, but is really not the trigger of the SA. I wholly recommend the SA, but one really has to be careful with it!

    Great Job as always! I buy guns because of your videos. Took notice about the mag not seating in strongly and I think its because when the slide locks on the last round when you put a new loaded mag in the gun, with force will rack the slide forward automaticly and your able to stay in the fight with less time wasted racking the slide.

    I own its bigger brother, the Grand Power X-Calibur. Low recoil, sweet trigger, accurate as hell, and so far absolutely reliable even with cheap ammo. I'm really excited about this company bringing its products to America. I don't know if I would trade my Glock 26 in for a P11 Mk12, but it's really tempting. I do like what I see.

    Nice review Sootch. Glad to see a different design in the compact market, and not just another Browning linkless cam. Would have liked to see some more aggressive grips on it, and a real shelf on the slide stop. Also, I would ask next time for you to give a visual size comparison with a competitor, like a Glock 26.

    Hi Sootch, another of your reviews causng me to shell out money, lol! Picked up my P11 a couple weeks ago, and I really like the feel and how it shoots. My problem with it is takedown and re-assembly, for me that is NOT EASY at all! To grab, get a grip on, and pull down on those little tabs, and at the same time pull the slide back enough to get it off, I won't tell you how many tries it took me to do that! And you make it look so easy! Re-assembly is almost as difficult for me, but I know I just have to practice with it, at some point I'll get more comfortable doing this. Aside from that though, I do love it! Oh, I also bought my K100 based on your review of it, what can I say, love it too!

    Just picked up my P11 D today, can't wait to get to the range with i! Feels really solid in the hand, has good weight to it. I also have the K100, love it, I have to say it's probably the most accurate out-of-the-box handgun I own! Now, I have not had a chance to shoot my CZ -09 or P-01 yet, will have to see how they compare to it! But I do love Grand Power guns, they are tanks! Oh, I wouldn't call the P11 sub-compact though, I'm thinking it's more "compact" size, like the CZ P-07. Playing with it just now, I realized the frame-mounted safety functions not only as a safety so can carry cocked and locked, but when you press the lever all the way down past the "fire" position, it actually de-cocks the hammer to half-cock! So it can be carried cocked and locked, or de=cocked to DA by using the lever instead of manually lowering the hammer! COOOLLL!!!! And btw, I paid $497 through my local gun dealer, now in 2018 they can be found at lower prices, like mid-400's maybe, but I support my local dealer!

    I am NOT a grammar goddess. I had a difficult time with English and Literature when I was in school. However... In some of your recent videos, I've noticed you tend to use the word "really" way too often. Please, don't be offended by this observation! I do not intend to sound critical and I certainly do not want to offend you!

    @sootch00 Hi Sootch, I purchased both a Grand Power K100 AND this P11 based on your veviews, love them both! Was watching this review again today, and noticed something very interesting! My P11 does not have that ridge on the safety, is just flat serrated. When the hammer is back, flipping that safety up one notch does lock the trigger in safe mode. But flipping it down from the middle "firing" position drops the hammer to half-cock, D/A mode right there! So my P11 can be safely put in condition 2, cocked and locked, or D/A without having to deal with manually dropping the hammer to half-cock, talk about best of both worlds!. And that D/A trigger is silky smooth, seriously! So is my P11 some later version than the one you reviewed, providing either safety or de-cocker, depending on one's preference?

The only think that makes me wonder is not with the review but with the comment from factory about the new take down system...I have a MK7 model were you take down the gun by pulling the trigger guard down and the gun is solid. Factory knows this and to me is just a great marketing tool to improve sales.

    Their older model was something I was considering for my first 9mm. For some reason or another, it was scratched from my list. I ended up deciding amongst the Zastava EZ9, Sar K2P, and Canik Stingray-C.
    All of these are lefty friendly, with ambi controls and/or reversible magazine releases. The K2P didn't have an ambi slide release though.

    I like the way this gun looks so far, but being ambi is a huge plus for me since I'm a lefty shooter. With the reliability and great reviews I've seen so far, I have no problem getting this for a range gun so that it can prove itself in my own shooting for concealed carry. It's a little thick in the slide, so I think IWB is out of the question for me, so OWB and fanny pack would be my carry with this gun.

  • @phucheneh
    @phucheneh 9 лет назад +1

    Sootch, I really like your reviews. Very practical, informative, unbiased...I just have one gripe with this one. You kind of paint the mk6 (STI) and mk7 (CAI) guns as being flawed, with the mk12 being the 'fix.' It's really not the case...while the mk12 certainly has improvements, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the older guns, and people should know that if they can still find them in the $300-400 range, they are a steal. The frame strength is a non-issue; remember, the K100 name came from the fact that one of their prototypes (predating even the mk6, I believe) fired over 100,000 rounds without significant wear. People were simply leery of the style of takedown, though I've never heard of a single issue with it. I've personally had m mk7 apart dozens of times, and it still goes together just as tightly as it did when it was new.

    • @phucheneh
      @phucheneh 9 лет назад

      Oh, and I should also mention that I went out of my way to obtain a mk12 X-Calibur as soon as they became available. If you like the P11, you owe it to yourself to try the X-Cal. Take everything you like about the P11, put it in a gun with a 5" barrel (that barely weighs any more than this subcompact), target sights, and an even better trigger...you just can't beat it. General consensus is that it's superior to a stock SP01 Shadow (a $1500 gun...food for thought for those whose think these mk12's are 'overpriced').

    I think the problem with the earlier Mk7 was not so much a weaker frame but the fact that it was possible to fire the weapon without fully seating the trigger guard.
    Looks like this gun does not have the interchangeable back straps like its 15 rd. brother. Do you find that the grips on this gun fill your hand well?
