- On the anniversary of an underwhelming looming-related tragedy, a group of friends travel to the infamous vacation spot "Rude Mountain", where legend tells of a curse that will make any inhabitants incessantly rude to anyone and everyone they come across. In the resulting fray relationships are tested, failed brand ventures are obsessed over, and content creators try to find a perfect spot to record a podcast.

Big respect to Holly for the Dr. Hill scenes. The nature of them means that she was just kind of on her own and couldn't have anyone to bounce jokes back and forth with which is usually what improv thrives on. Keeping that going for so long while being this freaking funny sounds _extremely_ difficult.
Also, since the Dr. Hill segments take place after the events of the ski lodge incident, she has to listen to the antics of the other characters (such as Josh burning his hands, stating that he's a Gemini, and his comments on his vibes, Chris ranting about the Kinect, and struggling to open a door) and find a way to reference them to the patient (who Holly knows the identity to) while remaining in-character.
Wait that was Holly, as in the HLV:AI actress Holly?

I have two arms
The plot so far:
Josh is a vlogger who has made a pact with "the vibes", mysterious energies that, among other things, have made him half ghost, allow him to detect sounds through auras after losing his hearing in the war, and supposedly allow for two way communication through RUclips videos. Josh wishes to draw others into the pact of the vibes and ultimately "speak to the world" via his vibe vlog; to this end, the entirety of Josh's vacation plan is geared towards making the vlog more chaotic, dramatic, and therefore viral. Josh has invited his friends to a lodge on Rude Mountain, expecting the rudeness curse to generate conflict, he has filled the lodge with puzzles to hide things like blankets and the XBox (also one of the puzzles is a wolverine???), and at one point he eats bath salts in an apparent attempt to trip out on camera.
Josh's friends who've been invited for vlogging purposes include: Chris (huge XBox fanboy, in constant conflict with doors), Ashley (invited primarily because she's the only member of the group who can read, seems quite unhappy to be vacationing on a freezing cold mountaintop), Sam (recently released from prison, bathes in intentionally grimy water for some reason), Jessica (came to the mountain to record for her podcast Blue Myself: An Arrested Development Rewatch), Emily (came to the mountain for the sole purpose of being rude), and Matt (spent all of his skill points on two-hand carrying, and quickly comes to regret it)... but Josh's ultimate weapon in generating attention to his vibe vlog is none other than the Anus Unus guy himself: Markiplier, who has agreed to come to Rude Mountain due to a prior arrangement to guest star on Jessica's podcast.
As much as Josh's vibe vlog plan already sounds rather sinister, it goes wrong in many ways: the bath salts don't work as intended, his dragon egg gets eaten, multiple characters start to doubt whether the curse of Rude Mountain is even real... although Josh is initially fond of ghosts, being half ghost himself, upon discovering that the ghost communicating via the Luigi Board is a Libro, Josh considers that he might need to leave, since as a Gemini his vibes do not go well with Libros. And then Josh gets fucking sawed in half (but claims that he will live on in the vibes, and puts a hex on those who killed him).
Meanwhile in the recording booth cabin, Markiplier and Jessica's relationship turns sour, with the apparent final straw being Jessica claiming that a phone is a dog and trying to take it to the kennel. This leads to Markiplier putting a hex on Jess and then hunting her down to ensure she does not come back.
The framing device for this whole thing is a therapy session in which one of the survivors of the vacation to Rude Mountain (implied to be Josh by the line "Really, cut in half by a big ol' saw blade and here you are to tell the tale, with legs still intact?") is recapping the events after the fact to Dr. Green Z. Hill. Dr. Hill's methods are bizarre and oftentimes the doctor will give his patient instructions that seem impossible to follow and then berate the patient for not obeying. Eventually the therapy sessions get derailed by the patients concern over the fact that they are PAYING MONEY for these ridiculous sessions. Outside of the constant gaslighting, other oddities in the therapy session include the patient apparently destroying Dr. Hill's first office through piano playing, requiring Hill's staff to "bind and gag you to contain your power and bring you to [the new office]"; Dr. Hill is impressed that the patient's piano playing was unhindered by their burnt hands, but I'm more impressed that they were unhindered by the fact that Dr. Hill explicitly DOES NOT even have a piano in his office. Dr. Hill implies that he has possibly ceased to be human due to having every part of his body replaced piece by piece... though he immediately dismisses this as just a joke...
Other recurring motifs:
Markiplier being able to cast spells, his first attempted spell is a healing spell that fails because his title as King of Five Nights At Freddy's has been usurped, but his later hex cast on Jessica works fine (apparently only healing magic is tied to being Five Nights Royalty).
People believing that things are dogs. Jessica has the most extreme case of this, sincerely mistaking an iPhone for a dog, but Dr. Hill also has a weird moment of claiming Jessica is a doberman pinscher.

Holly was given a really difficult role since Dr. Hill has long scenes with only one other character to occasionally interact with, but she managed to make those scenes absolutely delightful. She's very skilled and an amazing addition to the RTFD group.

It was definitely a challenge, but I think Holly's experience with endurance improv from the HLVRAI series proved that she was perfectly equipped for the role.
Plus, during those long gaps between Hill's scenes, she gets ample time to absorb everything and plot out her next move more thoroughly than anybody else, which led to some fantastic stuff. Like the nod to Hill's patient having burned hands! It's little, but it works so well.
Also, y'know, they threw in a splash of Ryan. Who's also a really funny dude.

I'm so glad they let Ryan talk during the therapist scenes. I don't think Josh talks during those moments in the game because he's supposed be a mystery. But Ryan's responses to the prompts were pure gold

One of the best parts of this dub for me is that they managed to make Chris; a character that I found (along with Ashley) to be the most relatable in the entire game into someone who thought the Kinect was a good investment.

He's a lot like Dr. Coomer, a character Holly previously played as in 'Half-Life but the AI is Self-Aware'. Highly intelligent and snarky, yet prone to making questionable decisions and tends to babble for an extended period of time. And they both come across as threatening despite, or because, all of this.
Dr. Green Z. Hill even used a modified version of Dr. Coomer's catchphrase at one point ("Ah, hello Gordon!" "Ah, hello patient!"). 37:36

@@knightogourd I'm not immediately sure which version of the Kinect they're talking about, because the hardware was named really stupidly (the Kinect 360 comes before the Kinect One). But it's way too finicky to be used for gaming. And the documentation for its more advanced features just straight-up aren't documented. In order to use the face-recognition stuff, I had to manually fish through over 1300 face points whose order does NOT tell you anything about their location on the face. I'm sure there's fun stuff you can do with it, but I've learned that relying on the Depth camera has kept me from learning more popular image progressing libraries. Microsoft can eat my entire butt.

This is the first thing I've seen Holly in, and Jesus Christ, every time Dr. Hill is onscreen, she's _exceptional._ I'd place it up there with Memphis Tennessee and Dr. Eggman for sheer comedic value.
If you want to watch something else she's in, she plays Dr. Coomer on Half-Life VR but the AI is Self Aware. It's absolutely hilarious and plays in a very similar style to Real-Time Fandub. Would highly recommend.

If you consider that the real-life Markiplier hated (or at least hated at first) Mike (who's Markiplier in the dub) and Josh (who invited Markiplier to the ski trip in hopes of gaining more subscribers) in his playthrough, and he took a moment to think things over when Dr. Hill asks which one he dislikes more, Markiplier viewing this video would be pretty bizarre for him.

The reason the healing spell didn't work is because of Jess chanting Unnus Anus while Markiplier was doing it. The whole point of Unnus Anus is that death is inevitable. You can't just chant that alongside a spell meant to revive someone, so of course it caused the elk to die further. Not surprising.

And the reason he had to tap into his FNAF royalty for the healing spell is because the game series is all about dead kids being brought back to life as animatronics

when he's helping her down at like 1:02:18 the shot pans out and you can see the Graphics left over in the background, not as gory but still fairly detailed Graphics, close your eyes at "let me help you down" and open them at "...smelly, sweaty hand off my fucking face" to miss it.
If you want to skip the Saw scene entirely, when chris walks into the room at 1:00:24 , skip to 1:02:32
the short scene after that, (til 1:03:35) ashley is just covered in blood, but like, you probably knew that going in.
there's a fucked up old corpse looking thing with a saw blade in its head in dr hill's office, not super gory but pretty disturbing i would say. close your eyes at "every goddamn detail" and open them at "really? cut in half by a big ol saw blade" if you don't want to see it (1:03:40 - 1:03:50)
there's some blood on his desk too, and a voodoo doll lookin thing off to the side, idk what it is, it's not the main focus of the scene
1:04:45 there's a sudden pan back over to dr hill at the desk that startled me
1:06:17 not a jumpscare or gore but there's a tarantula in the corner of the screen for like 3 seconds if that's a thing that bothers you

Its basically a bunch of jackass college kids go to a mountain cabin. One dies and then there's an Indigenous American Folk creature used as a scary monster which isn't great.
Theres a big emphasis on butterfly effect and your choices dictates who lives and dies. The whole cast is savable or killable.
Pretty barebones as far as plot goes.

Honestly, the themes that are developing in this dub are very thought provoking.
On Rude Mountain, there’s an urban legend that everyone gets cursed with being rude to everyone.
But it seems that the characters aren’t cursed, they’re only rude to each other because it’s Rude Mountain.
In the end, there isn’t really a curse. It’s only that they think theres a curse that makes them rude. A self fulfilling curse. Truly a thoughtful commentary on the human condition.
