8:00 I can speak on the STP movements a bit as an owner of a couple Zodiac watches -- It seems like the 3-13 movement has a higher defect/failure rate than we'd like from a Swiss movement, and I believe that's why Zodiac has either moved more towards the 1-11 movement or has made changes to the 3-13 movement to prevent early failures. Both of my watches feature the 1-11 movement, with one running within COSC standards and the other running about +15spd. The ETA movements are certainly nicer when it comes to the feeling of winding or setting the time when compared to the STP clones. There's a bit of roughness to the crown operation that isn't there on my ETA or Sellita movements.
Thats pretty much how I feel. I have a Zodiac Super Seawolf 53 (not sure which stp movement). It runs at +7/+8 seconds a day, so quiet ok, but the crown action is lacking. It feels almost a bit gritty.
The Breguet Classique elicited the biggest emotional response from me. For some weird reason I felt strongly of the 1980's- a kind of deja vu impression. But aesthetically it looks steampunk in a very classy way. The dial's treatment when it catches the light-very futuristic. Minimal stopwatchesque case. All tied together with the classic roman numeral motif to make a very good looking watch.
Everything you said, Teddy, about the two-tone Santos is EXACTLY why I bought it…the gold bezel and screws just bring it all together and makes it an icon. But you (and everyone on Reddit) are right: the bezel is a scratch magnet and you jus have to wear them with pride.
I went vintage to find a solid gold dress watch. Definitely a lot better value, esp. for a piece that's not worn very often. Lots of lovely vintage Omegas, Longines, etc. out there with great history for a lot less money than new. Also Junghans makes some nice gold tone versions of the Max Bill, just sayin!
In the southern part of India , especially kerala state 80s and 90s marked huge influx of foreign money through NRIs..during that era if you had a gold diastar (bridge) on your wrist it was considered as a symbol of a successful life..
Actually exactly the same today in some European countries especially in France. People have already gotten sick of infamous Rolex, and today Rado diastar with gold aesthetics is a symbol of class and success.
I'd like to add a gold watch to the list, this is what I plan to get in the near future: The TISSOT PRX Powermatic 80 (ROSE GOLD fluted Bezel) at around 2500$. This one is has an actual gold bezel (the one in the video just has a gold color).
Do some research, I like the PRX myself but a watchmaker advised me that the movement is not what it used to be & customer service is not good. So I pumped the brakes. Still looking into it..
This is hilarious timing because I've been looking for a gold watch for like the last month. Great timing. I'm on a budget so I went with a vintage all gold seiko 5 automatic.
Are you kidding? Rolex is the best?:) Then you probably have never had Cartier, Baume&Mercier, Certina, Norqain. Even some Orient timepieces today are better than most Rolexes.
@@tongotongo3143Sorry Orient better than Rolex? You are talking absolute rubbish. Whether you love or in your case hate Rolex, it cannot be denied they make amazing watches. Yes there are better watches out there such as Patek, AP or A Lange and Sohne, but Rolex are amazing watches. And yes the Bluesy is one of their best.
I think it must have been tough to choose between the 222 and the rose gold overseas, IMO i prefer the overseas in rose gold with that stunning blue dial
Hey Teddy. Big fan and kudos to literally starting the watch community on RUclips. Purchased the Hydroconquest because of your video on it. Couple of requests - 1. it will be great if you can share more outdoor footage of the watches. The indoor shots are amazing but the outdoor shots will give a more realistic view of the watch will look like. 2. Please do a review of the Rolex Datejust 41 with smooth bezel. I personally own one and whilst I think it is a great demonstrator of the lineage of Rolex, it is also a much hated watch by the watch community. In fact, it is harder to explain to people why the Rolex is not a status symbol but a purchase from a brand which has many achievements to it, for instance first waterproof watch, climbing the everest and even going to the deepest ocean descent!
Sorry, but you know a little about Rolex if you believe those myths. Why do you even care what others think? Why do you even care about some community? Are you buying watches for others or for you?
I just got the gold Casio A168, and I legitimately like it as much as my more expensive watches. Something about it and it’s steel colored brother make them both nearly perfect.
I think that Rado were on the ball when they came out with the Diastar way back in 1962. Brilliant. This piece to me looks a decade ahead of its time. Very nice design indeed.
Beautiful watches for dream . I espescially like the REVERSO, The BREGUET Classique, The CARTIER SANTOS, The LONGINES Zulu Time, The OMEGA speedmaster .
I have never been a gold watch fan. But then I wanted to complete a set of Casio A1000 watches, and the A1000MG-9 was on sale for 50% off, so I ordered it. It blew my mind with the warm gold tone and golden sunburst dial. I'm now looking in to gold (toned) automatic watches.
Going for a vintage/used all gold watch there are still bargains to be had I managed to buy a 18k solid gold Dubey & Schaldenbrand Aerodyn Trophee Limited Edition for $2000 in excellent condition less than two years ago A beautiful Curvex case, turned dial and display back showcasing a fully engraved and gilded movement
Kudos for choosing the correct gold Rolex. A real classic. Watch a tennis match, or the start of a Grand Prix race. You'll see the Rolex clock front and center, wearing a fluted gold bezel.
Hi Teddy, why you ignore Tissot gold classic, 18K gold, I think it's the cheapest Swiss gold watch, I think, make a review on that. Make a plan on Monaco tour, let's see what you find there.
Love this. I feel like gold pvd is a tough category to buy in. Would love to see a video like this on microbrands to see if there are any sleeper watches out there.
That VC 222 is an insane grail piece. If id ever have the monetary power to own that id be done with the hobby, sell everything else and just rock that forever.
I've got a gold Movado Circa on alligator strap,it was 900$ US. The dial is rich. Not my most expensive watch but hard to beat for looks Teddy Ballgame!
Gr8 Video Teddy 👍 I do feel you missed out on including the Longines Heritage Classic, one of the best value full-gold watches on the market, in my opinion.
Nice vid… I’m trying to figure out if I want the omega or Rolex (all gold) options you featured… I feel Rolex is more classic but the omega moonshine is pretty slick… especially with the gold bracelet
nkuwan You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
Teddy please, we need a wristcheck of your watch at the start of this videos! People out there, could someone identify what is Teddy wearing? looks really nice on white
Gold PVD is true gold, just of varying quality. Some gold PVD is 3 microns of PVD deposited gold overtop the rest of the PVD coating, that gold wears off quickly but the undercoating looks the same so the wearer doesn't know. Other companies use 15microns of gold, which is thick enough that in gentle use it won't be worn off within the original owner's lifetime.
I think the B&M Clifton watches are a bargain, especially in gold. I want to get one before the word gets out. I tried on a Bronze Gold Seamaster 300 a while back and that is a really, really nice watch in person. A family of watches that doesn't get the love it deserves is the Jules Audemars collection. They aren't as pricy as you might think and the Dual Time is an especially beautiful watch. I also love the VC Patrimony collection which I think is a bit overlooked.
I recently acquired a TAG Heuer 1000 in gold, aka "The Wolf of Wall Street" watch that is nearly identical to the Rolex GMT Master II, at a fraction of the price. What is your assessment of this timepiece, Teddy?
Hello TeddyB. Huge fan and love the content you make. Use it extensively to build my collection, and also to discover new gems out there. I was wondering if you could give some love to making videos focusing on "his and hers" category. I got a girlfriend and I discovered she enjoys watches too (not as much as me but is definitely willing to go out matching watches). It would be super nice to see whats out there that could be paired together for couple's watches. Maybe showing them in different price ranges. love those videos!! thank you very much. keep the good content coming!
Since the time of this video, Wise in Thailand is getting ready to release its ADAMASCUS ADX101YG True GMT 18K Gold Cap 200, which should compete well with the Longines and Tudor gold-capped GMT models mentioned here, at a far lower price.
Thanks Teddy awesome video! I would add to the more affordable spectrum the 18 karat gold cases from Longines Elegant, Record and Masters collectionsbetween 5-8k usd
When did Teddy start featuring those guns?
Bang bang!
Must be trying to get those wrist circumference numbers up! (I also have a 6.25" wrist and need to hit the gym lol)
Lmao what guns. He's got baby snakes on his arms
@@SuLu_XDyou can hardly increase your wristsize. It’s Mostly depending on bone thickness

When i was a kid i bought Casio watches because they were so futuristic, now i buy them because they're retro or even vintage😊
Casio Oak collection in gold aesthetics today gives you respect anywhere in the world even among nastiest watch snobs.

I’m not a huge gold watch guy but as always Teddy has shown me several watches I now want to own👍🏻👍🏻

Yes, Breguet, Mido, and Cartier are the top of the cream here.
What a redditor
I am surprised that you featured a Bluesy. It’s so underrated watch, together with two tone Santos. You are a man of great taste.
The pontiff would approve!
Everything you said, Teddy, about the two-tone Santos is EXACTLY why I bought it…the gold bezel and screws just bring it all together and makes it an icon. But you (and everyone on Reddit) are right: the bezel is a scratch magnet and you jus have to wear them with pride.
two-tone Santos is what i have on looking at the video :) love this one! have it on all the time.
Not really a big gold person but I think the Nomos metro in gold and Nomos Lambda in rose gold are both beautiful and under appreciated watches

The tissot excellence in 18k gold is a solid gold case for under 3k for the quartz and under 5k for the automatic. Over 13 grams of gold in them.

100% agreed on the bluesy, simply one of the greatest watches ever made

Good series idea, perhaps to follow carbon: full ceramic, bronze, unusual materials such as tungsten or silver...

The omega Seamaster 300 in bronze gold is a beautiful watch. Another one is a globemaster in steel and gold or a aquaterra in ateel and gold
Is the cassio watch worth the buy? I mean i know its relatively inexpensive but does it look extremely cheap when you use it?
The 2 Tone “Bluesy” is still the best. ✨🔥✨
The best two tone Rolex has to be the Datejust.
Going for a vintage/used all gold watch there are still bargains to be had

Most vintage watch's are crazy value .
Speaking of curves the Gruen Curvex is awesome .
The gold Speedy is badasssss

Finally I have been waiting for this video!!! Thank you!!
Was able to order the casio oak in silver colour for $300. I think i got quite a good deal, can’t wait for it to arrive
Love that Zodiac! 🤩😍
Good list. I totally agree with you about the two tone Santos. And I'm a little surprised you didn't include the Oris Aquis in the S&G catagory.
Could you do a video on tonneau case watches from affordable to luxury! Loving the content btw :)
That Omega is **chef's kiss.**
That Longines is a banger, man. 😮
Missing here is the 190th anniversary Longines in rose gold. The carved out numerals are so incredible. Granted, it's a very rare watch.
That was a shock at the end of the video! Seeing the Nautilus after the Breguet makes it painfully clear how hideous that Nautilus looks.
Breguet and Speedy did it for me
All gold watches I feel are generally too flashy for me, however one I have my eye on is the new all gold Rolex GMT Master
I love my casioak full meyal gold variant
For the casio, I think you've got to go with the black dial / cover. Makes it look more 80s / retro and not like trying to bling.
Please mention if the links or bezel is gold capped or solid gold tp give us better understanding. Thank you
Good topic and great list. It would be fun to know the ratios of case materials that are available today at different price points

A Patek 3919 Is a killer deal around 8-12k for full gold manual wind movement
When it comes to fine imitation watches, amzwatch delivers. I've bought from them several times, and I've never been let down.
My favourite steel and gold watch is probably the Tudor 1926 with the black dial. So underrated!
