I know! It took me a while to watch the second video, I just couldn't hear any more horrors in her life. I wish her all the happiness in the world, she deserves the world, it most be so hard to speak about what she went through time after time and she does it so she can help others, what a brave woman.

It makes me think about some of the communities in my own country who tend to keep to themselves and you see some of these control aspects in public at times but its rare. I could see these sort of crimes being hidden especially as they have gained wealth and influence but you hope they came here for better lives, Not to bring awful "traditions" with them. (We have had an increase in these sorts of crimes sadly, NZ)

Myself, the girl I wanna marry a British Indian and she faces a lot through her life, not as bad as your story, but she feels a lot of pressure. Your story helped me to understand better now one of the things she is the most afraid of.
P.S.: In Africa, we don't do honour killing, I guess that it still exists, but it's a very, very small percentage compared to most of our cultures. Especially in my country and the countries around, we don't do that. I would love tho to meet you one day if I can, I truly admire your resilience. May you spend happy times with your kids. They're the most precious present you could ever get.
🙄 it really concerns me how people can watch a woman talking about a hugely traumatic life that highlights the biggest cultural problems in society and they instantly start thinking about some stupid, vapid, meaningless award. Like you think fame is a reward for a tough life. She's talking about the real meaningful human experience of losing her beautiful child at birth and you think she wants a dumb award, given by a bunch of nobodies.
@@harrydavey9884I don’t think they genuinely mean an award. Like saying „Wow this mother deserved mother of the year award“ cus there isn’t an award for mothers. It’s just something you say. It was a compliment I believe.
As a punjabi woman i am ashamed this happens in our community but it reminds me how fortunate i am to have a family like mine. My maternal grandfather would go around his village celebrating whenever he was gifted with a baby girl and anyone who disrespected his daughters would never be allowed to step foot in their home. He moved to Canada in the 1970s to make sure his daughters would have a good life and for that i am forever grateful.

We knew a family from the Punjab in Germany, they had one boy and two girls. It was a loving, warm family, where all children were treasured. They told us they were wealthy in India, so we did not understand why they had come Germany. My husband once asked them, and the father answered, as he had two girls, he preferred to live elsewhere, and not in India. This was ten years ago and NOW I understand why.

How can a woman experience so much pain in her life and stay this gentle. Nina is an extraordinary human being.
She has an extreme amount of empathy and compassion for people because of the things she has gone through, she understands what it's like to be at the bottom of the barrel and she doesn't want anyone else to feel like that.

It struck me when she referred to her family dog as a person when she herself was treated like a dog her whole upbringing. That dog was kind in that moment and became more than just a dog. Kindness is our greatest trait.
Animals are never 'just animals'.
I was struck also how her dog gave her love and kindness!!! Its one of the beautiful stories about a pet!!!
I was struck in part 2, when she kept talking about how in the eyes of her family & culture that she brought shame on?!?! Just HOW UTTERLY sick & DISGUSTING that they viewed that she brought shame onto them, when they were the ones who should be SO ASHAMED of themselves!!! SHAME ON THEM!!!
Most people will never reach the level of strength and dignity this woman has. I can only hope the future holds joy and peace for her.

You see, until a certain age, others are to be blamed for the suffering they inflict upon you. However, after a certain age, when you are responsible for the choices you make, there is really no point in blaming perpetrators to whom you have wilfully offered yourself. Imagine, she had allowed herself two opportunities to escape, but ruined both these opportunities totally by fleeing straight into the arms of one perp after the other.

Lots of people don't live in the modern world. Many people still have the same beliefs as their ancestors 1,000 years ago.
Recent story of honour killing in from her ethnic background Punjab,India. A father killed his daughter with sword, stabbed her many times and tied her to back of motorcycle and dragged her dead body to show his pride and ego that he had done a honour killing because daughter has romantic relation with a man.
Parents literally controls everything of a child here so it’s a blessing to be born in a place of freedom and with supportive parents.

I am originally from India. When my sister was born, my father celebrated by handing out sweets and inviting people for drinks. Everyone in the village called him an idiot for celebrating the birth of a girl. My father raised us right by making sure that we did not follow the idiotic ideas of passing on condolences on the birth of a girl. I have one son and one daughter. My brother has one daughter. My sister has two daughters and a son!!!! So yeah, we broke the idiotic thinking from back home!!!
What I don't understand is where do these female-hating people think children come from? If everyone has boys, they will literally die out.

My grandfather told me that upon the birth of my mother, his second child and second daughter, his co-workers gave him condolences and told him that „maybe he‘d get lucky next time“. He very happily told them he was only planning on having two kids. And this was in the sixties, white community in the middle of western Europe.
Apparently your brother in law hasn’t broken out of that cycle, if I have to guess I’d say they had 2 daughters therefore had to have that son so waited tor the third one as is the case across north India. Me myself being from Kashmir after I had my two daughters many people outside of my family tried to tell me I should wait for son before throwing in the towel.
I find it utterly ridiculous that some of us are still stuck with old mentality which made sense back in the day because sons supported parents in their old age while the daughters were married off but for me I am man enough to make sure I build myself beyond the point where I am financially stable to retire and not receive handouts from my kids, if anything I’ll make sure I leave enough for my daughters retirement as well.
As a serving British soldier, I shed a tear for this poor lady. It made me think of my own mum. What were the police and the hospitals doing?
Her mother probably doesn't sleep at night at all. That dog was something truly amazing. He demonstrated more compassion than any human in that household.
"She was a girl, which meant I could break that generational curse of not celebrating a girl"..."My mom had taught me what I should not be as a mom" ...Right there, that hit hard. This woman is the true definition of STRENGHT and RESILIENCE and the fact that in part 1 she said she forgave her abusers (people who literally tried to kill her) is just further proof of that.

Honour Killings are protected as a “cultural crime”? That is INSANE and completely unjust! The law around this needs to be looked at, addressed and changed as soon as possible. Murder is Murder. Women of different cultures shouldn’t fear being killed at the hands of their parents or partner. This is the UK and everyone should be protected and feel safe. I’m with you Nina and I’ll be doing research to help support your non-profit.
What else would you expect when countries like India boasts about its 'cultural' superiority and the modern-day western governments are all about placating them and pandering to their rather 'delicate' sensibilities? Gone are the days when the West called a spade a spade.

Brothers, uncles, grandfathers and sons also. I've watched videos, documentaries and shows with all of these criminals. Often it's all the men in the family working together. There are a number of these cases in the U.S. where the men have been given the death penalty or sentenced to life in prison.
One is the case of teen sisters Amina and Sara Said, born in the U.S. to an Egyptian (immigrant) father and his American wife. The escape attempt failed. The father, Yaser Abdel Said, went on the run and avoided the police for about 12 years but he remained on the FBI Top Ten Fugitive list until his capture in 2020, the FBI was offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. He is currently in prison serving a life sentence. I have watched all the parts in a series on RUclips and a number of documentaries also, It breaks my heart each time. As they all do. It's a travesty, a stain on humanity to allow this in any country or culture, Just evil.

Again, let's not forget, it is all thanks to the 'American wife' - the likes of whom, unlike their eastern counterparts, are ingrained with a better sense of justice and know better than to sweep things under the carpet - the case got the attention it deserved. Criminals from the Middle-east are infamous for doing a runner and escaping to their own countries where they know they'll be well protected, especially in cases of such nature.
I know in the US men have been prosecuted for honor killings.

Nina is a really strong woman. She went through all of that as a teenager and then almost murdered in her 20s to then being abused ONCE AGAIN and raped by her unemployed partner who was living off of her money and suffering a miscarriage due to that partner's abuse. And then when she was in her darkest moment, she still strived to live and then learnt her unknown sister was sold as human trafficking at such a young age?? The fact that Nina still forgave her family members for what they did to her and that she is helping people get out of abusive situations, tells me all I need to know about her. Nina is an incredible human being and she survived the worst and she deserves so much more recognition
The rape & her partner are 2 different men.. she had 1 baby by the rapist and the other children from her good for nothing partner 😔
@@mtnewt1she got pregnant during the time she was being raped by her father and his friends but her parents took her to get an abortion. She had 4 children from her abusive partner and 1 died after he pushed her down the stairs.

My colleague told me how she and her husband rejoiced for a healthy baby daughter and how she witnessed another young Pakistani woman's heart break over having a girl. Her husband and family despised her because of not giving them a boy. It was in London. A very sad situation.

Even after she escaped the brutal abuse of her parents and family, she still ended up suffering domestic abuse. This woman's life story is just so heartbreaking.
It is because most abused people don't know how a healthy relationship looks like or feel like. That's why they usually get caught with different people but the same cycle. I hope everyone who is in an abusive relationship can break free.

Unfortunately, this happens a lot with people who were victims of domestic abuse by their families. They never learned what a healthy relationship looks like. I hope she is (she probably is) getting therapy and learning what a healthy partner and relationship looks like. I just want her to have an amazing life now. No more sadness and pain. Her story broke my heart and there were some points where I had to pause and walk away because it was too much for me to handle.
How on EARTH is it taboo to have a child out of wedlock when raping someone, let alone your own daughter, isn't taboo???! I truly don't understand this mentality! I'm so angry for her and every woman who has had to live through the same thing in their own family.

Although having a child out of wedlock is considered taboo in many cultures, what Nina's father did to her is not some negative aspect of the culture. It's his own depravity that would be considered depraved even in India.

I'm in the U.S.A., and I'm astonished that this is allowed to go on in the U.K.. I was in an abusive home as a youngster until I was sent to my grandparents in another state, and Grandma treated me like gold.

What a horrible story. I feel so sorry for this lady. You would never guess by looking at her that she went thought all that she did. She's very pretty, looks so professional, very articulate and appears to have her act together. It amazes me how she has survived. These two videos have been insanely distressing to watch as an indian girl. I am so thankful she got to speak out about her life and can be heard without being dismissed. I watched through tears as you unfolded your truth. Your determination got you through your nightmare. I'm so sorry that you had to live without love or any kind of nurturing. Similar abuse will be occurring in some sick homes in Canada too. Domestic violence does not discriminate. Leaving an abuser is the main time the violence escalates and death often occurs. Sad but true the way that a human being can be objectified, exploited and treated like worthless, shameful possessions, slaves and vessels to absorb abuse from many inhumane, manipulative, monstrous and heinous people. I'm at 38 year old white man, born and raised in poverty and foster care mostly, in eastern Kentucky. I was tortured, beaten, starved, drugged and raped. All more times than I could count. Both in and out of foster care. It left me broken by the time I even could spell the word broken. I've been in mental health treatment since I was first placed into foster care, around the age of 4 1/2 - 5 years old. Watching the first part of her story, I could relate on so many levels. I was speechless clicking on this video to watch afterwards and finding out it's her all over again. It's almost like my life in a way, because even after I turned an adult, I too, ended up in horrible relationships with horrible women, or even good women that I, myself couldn't love, because I didn't love myself. Ended up in Prison, where the same traumas that I went through as a kid, ended up being done to me again, by both inmates and guards alike. Kentucky has both a broken and savage foster care system as well as jail/prison system. It amazed me while I was inside, and even amazes me now, how they get away with it. It's mind blowing how they break every human rights law in the world, and can still operate without being held accountable, while you sit in there, under their supervision, watching them do it, being held accountable for what you did. I got out after 10 years, completely served out my sentence, no parole, on a non-violent, non-sexual offense of burglary and theft. I dreamed of getting out, only to basically go into shock when I did. I went to stay with a penpal in Seattle, WA, to leave Kentucky asap. Only to find out he'd been lying to get me to WA, and so I left his place. Now I'm still in WA, and haven't had a single run in with the law or abusers since. Instead, I'm bed or chair bound, with a messed up back and mind, on welfare, fighting to try and get my disability. Meanwhile, everyone acknowledges that I have all these mental and physical problems, but my welfare insurance won't pay for the only medicine that gives me peace. So living off ramen noodles and mac n cheese, I live through the internet, dreaming while I live through others lives. Wishing I had gotten a chance to have a life anything remotely close to normal or being valued as a person, wishing someone would find me, help me with medicine, or just come visit me. Only good thing in my life, are my cat, dog, and fiance that I met shortly after getting to Seattle. She's so amazing, and I wouldn't be able to type out my story, if it weren't for her and her love and support through all my struggles and flaws. She helps as best she can, but like this young woman's story, sometimes you just have to wonder. When or if at all, does the suffering stop? When do I meet one of these kind souls I see all over the internet helping people, or being nice to people? Because I've only met my fiance, and that's it. 38 years of living, and only one person that noticed me and decided I was worth having around. I hope this woman was able to find the peace I crave so badly today. It's a process, and a very long process. Maybe in the next life, I'll be reborn into a normal life or something close to it haha. Thanks for reading, whoever did.
EDIT: I tried to reach out to her through instagram around the time I first posted this comment. Hoping to god, that she might be able to help me get the medicine I need. I just wanna heal my mind and spirit, and start helping others. I can't help people in need, if I can't afford to help myself. Ketamine works amazing for PTSD and Treatment Resistant Depression and Anxiety. Sadly, it's also very costly and my savings are drained out and gone now, because of it. It's really difficult to feel a one year break in your PTSD and Depression, after 30+ years of torment mentally, only to have to return to the mental hell, because a cheap drug to make is heavily priced by big pharma. They can very easily reconcile their behaviour with the Religion. They see it through the prism of Sikhism parental allegiance no matter what and tradition with which they are brainwashed. Happens even today in Muslim Sikh African and all Asians in the U.K. That's why they choose to live in areas where their communities dominate

When she said "I was at that time a millionaire" after she detailed how she wanted both her children to only know love and that she wanted to break her generational curse, that's when I realized "this woman has everything to make it out, she has the mindset, the means, and the strength, all she needed at the time was to believe in herself." It's really heartwarming to see that, despite all the horrors one could face, they could be this resilient and persevering, learn who they are as a person, realize what their true worth is, and go on to become such a beautiful human being. I truly hope nothing remotely negative ever happens to this woman again in her life.
Yes... I was thinking she needs to make strategic decisions in her life not emotional ones, understandably so because of all the trauma she has gone through. But now and has done so, must break the barrier and change her life... I think she has finally done this... I am from a subcontinental country and grew up in a western country with a very strict upbringing and STILL had no idea about the UK statistic of 1 honour killing every month...that's truly shocking to me.

Thank you for sharing this painfully personal story and re-living the worst torture any human being can suffer. I would love to know how you approached trauma work or what your recommendations are for people who suffer cultural trauma. Even after escaping abuse, it's something that you carry in the form of PTSD and is almost a continuation of the abuse. Your ability to forgive is astounding to me, there are much lesser things I find myself unable to forgive.

Yes these sick cultures are disgusting. My son friend in his early thirties married a Sikh girl whose parents are from the Punjab and none of her four siblings and parents went to the wedding. They have now reconciled after several years. Another so's friend married a Cambridge Muslim girl from Midlands,only one sister attended the wedding no parents or four of her siblings either. Have plenty of experience as am Indian born and educated but deliberately chose to live in the U.K. Have challenged my grandmother in the seventies in India and it baffles me that Asians and Africans still never challenge their parents on religious and traditional issues. Like young girls aged five wearing the headscarf. Nina saw how different her school pupils were so sounds harsh but there are too many of these stories and it is time for them to challenge their parents.

Thank you for sharing your story. I can relate to your story. I have been through so much abuse since the day I was born. My earliest memories of being abused in all ways possible, being scared, and confused. I never spoke about it until recently. My sisters and I finally talked about it started our healing. I understand what you mean when you say you're glad you went through all that because it made you who you are today. I feel the same way. It really broke me down when I finally talked about it. It took everything in me to pull myself out of that dark place (depression). I admire your courage, strength, and determination to help others. One day I will do the same but now I'm still at the beginning of my healing. It took me 50 years to finally talk about my abuse. You're strong beautiful lady. Keep doing what you're doing. My mom said the exact same thing about how her parents taught her how to not be a parent and how she said as a teenager she would never make her kids go through what she had to endure. My mom, even though she went through severe mental abuse, debilitating beatings, being abandoned each weekend to survive on her own in the canyons of Nevada so her parents didn't have to feed her, and molested by her step father and half brother, she turned into the kindest, hardest working, most selfless person I have ever known to this day. I really admire people like this women who can go though so much torture in life, yet still be a gentle soul, god bless her.
