I’d assume the reason there’s only one zipper is because if there’s 2 then there might be a little gap in between them and wouldn’t be waterproof? Maybe
If I don’t get the fishpond pack in the give away, I will find out where you live and put tiny pinhole punctures in all your beer cans! Then when you go fishing, you will find all your beer cans empty.
Funniest giveaway idea I've seen in a long time!! Have you thought about getting copyrights on the recycling concept, then sell it to Patagonia? 'Would make a lot of people happy to get their used returns and you might be able to quit your job!
Appreciate you stepping outside your norm and giving us your “real world” thoughts on the Orvis Backpack. I like to travel light when fishing, however I do like to have all my gear handy for when it’s needed. Thanks again!
Ben, I appreciate your no nonsense approach to the nonsport of fly fishing. Winter is right around the corner and I'm excited to not match the hatch anymore. Many thanks.
I haven't checked out these backpacks much. I usually stick to a solid day hiking bag. Right now I am pretty happy with a north face bag with a water bladder pouch. But then I am usually hiking as much as I am fishing and sometimes, hiking with no fishing. I do like the dual rod tube holders. I've rigged a few solutions for myself, but a ready built solution in the bag is nice.
Almost made me laugh out loud when you mentioned the giveaway (I didn't know about the insta post). Really caught me off guard and I think this is way better. Not sure if I actually want to win it tho :D
I have a similarly sized sling in which I keep reels, spinning tackle, bait, and odds and ends like the license. But my daily carry is a fanny pack, in which I have flies, indicators, tippet, and other extraneous gear. Makes it ultralight and modular.
Great content as always. Talked about a few of your videos to some buddies on a fishing trip this past week. Was surprised to hear they had not seen any of them. They are now on their way to being HUGE.
I’ve always used fishing vests or waist packs, but because of You I want to try a Huge backpack. I’m actually a minimalist, but could carry that ladder and more beer & chicken for my buddies if I have a Huge one. Just tryin to keep up! Have a Huge week Ben..and Thanks for the opportunity to win, and your great videos! 👍 🎣
You got me into fly fishing years ago and I have improved over the years and I have not gone back to my bait caster and spinning rods and i and I say is thanks you for that!
I agree about the size. I was looking for a new waterproof backpack and everything was just to big. I want a pack that I can fit everything I need for a longer trip but I don't hesitate to grab as I head out the door for a quick hour of fishing.
I creeped through the comments just to find this. Ben, way to actually do what you say. Your sarcastic self depreciating viewpoint on fly fishing is fucking hilarious. I've also convinced my dad that he can't have a beer until he's caught a fish.
The two outside side pockets is exactly why I have chosen the Orvis waterproof backpack over the waterproof packs of Simms, Fishpond and Patagonia. I have used my side pockets to store a jacket, water bottle, travel pillow, etc. The other backpacks only have cam straps or expect you to buy an accessory attachment. The inside pockets of the Orvis are far superior to other packs and will be used more than you think they will be to keep stuff separated and accessible.
Started fly fishing earlier this year, been using a trail running vest pack to hold my crap and somehow it makes me even dorkier than a fly fishing vest would... Works solidly okay though!
Yeah, I do like gear reviews. Helps a lot since I don’t have an opportunity to try out stuff for a couple months to see if I like it. I’ve donated a bunch of stuff to Project Healing Waters not that it’s junk but it just didn’t work for me.
New Orvis pack looks freshy dope! Usually I’m a hip (fanny) pack guy but I’ve been motorcycling into some fishing holes in Olympic National Forest and backpack is needed... I think I found what looks like some rare redbands too so pretty. Thanks for the vids!
Another Monday of hell another awesome fly fishing video. You the man brother, that's awesome of you to give away your old bag. I'm the type to keep it just as a back up or incase a friend is ever in need. I have to ask how many batteries do you usually carry for your GoPro when out filming? I tend to use quite a few during the course of the day.
I loved my Orvis storm front but before the zipper failed after 4-5 years of hard use I bought the Fishpond zip top pack. Maybe I’ll go back to the Orvis then next time it’s time to replace it. Loved your humorous review. Please don’t bother me with that POC busted old pack.
I’m super new to fly fishing (I started this summer), but these are basically the only fly fishing videos I wanna watch. Gear reviews are nice, but I say don’t force it. Review what you want if you want.
You are truly one of the best fly fishing channels ever! You have truly helped me improve as fly fisherman through your great videos. I hope you don’t ever stop being huge
Love the small bags. I am constantly rotating through small bags that aren’t fishing bags to fish out of. . From Duck blind bags to kids bookbags. You don’t need a big bag to stay huge!
That thing you said you’re not sure what it is is for pulling the zipper closed after some use. I have the same pack, love it, but eventually the zipper will start to “stick” at the end of the zip path (idk what you call it I’m not that huge) so that little rubber guy is for more leverage.
Your Monday morning videos are the only thing I look forward to on a Monday morning....Do you think that bag has enough room for all of my midges and possibly a rod vault????
Thanks for the gear review. Been trying to decide between this bag and the dry creek z from simms. Might go this one as it is a little smaller! Keep up with videos I enjoy them!
My son just got his Echo Gecko delivered today for his birthday. He loved last week's video where you were using your kid's rod!! Now he said he needs a backpack....
Been watching your channel for a couple years now. I honestly learned how to fly fish by watching your videos, and and by getting out every weekend of course. Anyways Huge fan and always recommend the channel to other new fly fishers.
been using my lowepro flipside as my dslr/tackle-backpack. if i want to creep on some wildlife i cant really fit all my tackle and stuff (so i have to be a little choosey), but 24-70, camera body, maybe a gopro...can fit all the fly gear...though i might be screwed if i fell in.
I like gear reviews. I’d love to see you do a gear review of your old bag. BTW, are any of the holes large enough for a can of PBR to fall through? I hope none of them.
I am new to fly fishing and gear reviews from a regular like yourself are awesome! PS, I grocery shopped in two locations yesterday with my fly down!.........My wife knew and never said anything.
Your videos are the best. Hank Patterson and Tom Rosenbauer wrapped up in one dude. But if I get your backpack, I’m just going to hang it in the tie flying room for decoration.
Some more gear reviews would be great, I was just looking at that pack at the Manchester store the other day, would love to hear your opinion on in it in a few months once its been well used. Keep up the awesome content!
Love your videos. Would like to see more gear videos. Example, the New Zealand strike indicator vs foam vs thing a ma bobs. No offense but I don’t really want your old backpack, but I would love a beer coozy or a huge sticker for the truck.
Great video as always. As someone who just got into fly fishing in this Covid era I greatly appreciate all the information and tips your channel provides.
Hey man, don’t need the backpack, I’m a vest guy myself, just want to say I love the channel and an added bonus is you’re the only fishing channel I watch that my girl doesn’t completely hate having to listen to while she’s on tiktok.
Thank you Ben for another fantastic video ! If there was only a video on proper casting techniques in small streams and rivers made by you. Have a great day.
I work for a waterproof gear company. The reason there are not 2 zippers on the pocket is that having 2 zippers creates a gap, even if that gap is small it is a point where water can enter the bag. Thus, 1 zipper. Just a friendly bit of info
@@HugeFlyFisherman interestingly enough we got some YKK samples that do just this. Things are looking good. The only issue, and its one we always face, is user error.
I'm 66 and have been using the same old Orvis vest since I was 26. I dyed it green so it's equally manky to your old pack. Maybe time to modernize. New stuff wont work any better but I'd maybe look more hip.
THE GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED
Can I get a consolation coozie?
Was it me?? Did you pick me? Because that would be HUGE!!
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww
did i win?
Do you have an Instagram
I’d assume the reason there’s only one zipper is because if there’s 2 then there might be a little gap in between them and wouldn’t be waterproof? Maybe

If this backpack doesn’t smell like stale PBR, I’m sending it back.
Ben, I appreciate your no nonsense approach to the nonsport of fly fishing. Winter is right around the corner and I'm excited to not match the hatch anymore. Many thanks.
Orvis probably made the bag “HUGE” for all of your “HUGE” fans. This channel is not for small fly fishers, it’s for HUGE ones.

Ben and coffee on a Monday morning. Pretty cool start to my week.
Love the vids, watch them every week!
The back tabs in the side of the zipper is for leverage when closing and opening it and the tabs on top is for a tippet holder
I enjoy watching the Huge Flyfisherman every Monday morning!!
Great content as always. Talked about a few of your videos to some buddies on a fishing trip this past week. Was surprised to hear they had not seen any of them.
They are now on their way to being HUGE.
I caught my first king salmon on fly yesterday, does that make me HUGE yet?
That makes the fish huge, you're still only just a fisherman
I didn't see extra beer in that bag?
Thanks for the video and keep it huge my friend.
Yesterday I caught two brookies, two rainbows and eleventy branches.
Any willows? Those are native.
@@fly_out_west they were hybrid cut-willows

How is the pack holding up? Any issues or concerns? I am thinking about get one just worried about the durability. Thanks!
Rock solid so far. I’ve learned that the little tabs are for help pulling the zippers closed.
Oh and congratulations Ben on breaking 30k subs that is super HUGE and well deserved.
I use a sling back and that thing hurts one shoulder pretty bad

Ben, I’m not sucking up here, but I seriously look forward to your videos on Monday. Helps me not have a case of the Monday’s.
Good Morning Ben. Is you Fishpond backpack smaller than the new Orvis? Why did you choose the Orvis rather than getting another Fishpond?
Good review. But it's supposed to be a DRY bag. Is it...did you test it in water and in a heavy rain (or under the faucet) and how did it do?
I am new to fly fishing and gear reviews from a regular like yourself are awesome! PS, I grocery shopped in two locations yesterday with my fly down!.........My wife knew and never said anything.
Does the bag have the modular snaps so I can clip my fishpond chest rig in it?

Definetly one of my favorite fly fishing RUclips channels
Here's my comment. But just wondering if you shot this outside of redcliff? I feel like I've hiked this trail many times.
You are quite possibly the best fly fisherman I've ever watched on youtube!!
I do like your gear review, do more! I have the same Orvis bag and love it, has held up well from South Louisiana to Belize to Chile.

The easy entry is nice, no hoops to jump through. Love the gear reviews as I am a gear nerd
That back pack would be a HUGE upgrade from my hand me down it has HUGE holes in it. STAY HUGE

What’s your thoughts on fanny packs? I usually have a back pack too, it’s mostly for beer.
One of my favorite channels! Great job my huge dude! Come fish the Green just below Flaming Gorge soon!
Like the gear review. how did u like your fishpond backpack? Did you check out the new fishpond before u got the orvis?
That a cool thing to do. I just moved away from Colorado springs but now I fish for bass
So glad I ran across this channel! You’ve helped me a lot mentally and out on the water man! Thank you a lot!!!!’
So how many beers can you carry when fully rigged for fishing?
Thank you Ben for another fantastic video ! If there was only a video on proper casting techniques in small streams and rivers made by you. Have a great day.
...but is it optimized to hold Tenkara rods?
How do you think that Orvis pack will hold up in the salt??
Will This hold tenkara rods OR cane poles?
Does the FishPond bag include the fried chicken warmer?
hey where do i get all that cool gear like your shirt and drink holder
Love the videos, been fly fishing for about a year now and I'm lovin it. Think your commentary is hilarious and always on the nose. Stay huge
Does it ship full of warm beer?
Been watching you for a long time. Met you in Dutch John. Thanks for the stickers. Thanks for giving the green a little bit of juice!
That backpack gives off the same vibes as my fishing shoes. 6 years old, a few holes, and still catching fish.
I cast flies but I don’t catch fish... so a waterproof backpack that leaks is exactly what I need. Thanks for the show it is fun to watch. Ciao.
How many beer fit in the old bag?
So the backpack comes full of HUGE FLY FISHERMAN stickers for future repairs to the bag right?
Looks like a nice bag, my pack isn't waterproof which makes for soggy days when its rainy.
How many beers fit in an orvis backpack?
If I get the pack am I automatically required to carry PBRs with me at all times?
Went trout fishing yesterday, didn’t catch anything. Is that huge?
Is Huge more important in length or girth?
Sick Karate tutorial Ben. Just a little feedback wish you would stay more on topic and show the roundhouse kicks in slow motion.
Nice review, I was just looking at these. I mean the beatup fishpond one. I can't afford that orvis one.
Great review Ben, keep the impartial gear reviews coming. I’ve also been enjoying the Spotify list: careless reggae! Cheers, Gary
So happy to have stumbled on this channel, learn alot and get some laughs every Monday.
Thanks for all the fun videos. New to fly fishing and I’ve watched most of your videos. Thanks again!!

Do you ski? Or would that cut into your February fishin' too much?
Do either of the packs have a pocket for fried chicken?
Does it come with a long forgotten beer?
but can it hold water?
Any reason why you didn't buy another Fishpond?
I would like to know how many "craftbeers" can fit in that old backpack....keep the Monday entertainment coming.
😂😂😂😂😂Craft beers??!
