  • Alex Waller from Trippin On Trout takes a deep dive into his Fishpond Thunderhead Backpack and shares his favorite things about the bag after 6 use of extensive use.
    Alex has been fishing these bags HARD. He's had a few different variations and has swam them across rivers, hiked hundreds of kilometers with them, camped with them, and basically just beat them up.
    Today he does a full fishpond backpack review to share his thoughts on these bags, as well as the upcoming features and design changes that will come in the next generation of the Fishpond Thunderhead Submersible Backpacks.

    I can tell out of a lot of reps you have used them thoroughly. I’m planning on staring with the thunderhead sling pack. Thanks for a straight forward review.

    another great review from alex. can't beat fishpond...been running the backpack and hip pack as well for a couple years now. have a tendency to wade a little deep and take a dip from time to time and as long as you've got'm zipped up everything inside stays dry as...i just have a habit of leaving the hip pack zipper open lol

      Yep Alex is the man. I've done the same with my Yeti submersible. Pain in the ass if you don't close that last cm of zipper! haha

    Perfect timing! Welll for me finding this review as I'm going to look at these today hopefully. I've been watching your trippin on trout vids for awhile now so appreciate how hard you are on your gear. I'm actually a lure fishermen but find that fly gear is just way better thought out and works. I've tried a few 'other' bags and I'm always compromising in more ways than I'd like in regards to features or in Alex speak 'hangy off bits' 🤣 and comfort. But the other thing I've been considering recently is safety. I'm often off by myself in the middle of nowhere in a river and I realise what that means and a submersible pack that would actually keep me afloat in an emergency might be a good idea. Great honest review and I'm gonna do what you say and go and poke one l, bit of a drive down Hereford way (UK) but I need to get hands on to get a real impression.

    Can I ask. I’d be using mine a fair bit in the saltwater on the flats and the surf. Do you need to do anything with zips against rusting ? Or just at the end of the day hose it down with freshwater ? Love the look of them.

    Would love to know how you organize the inside. It’s just a big hole and all my stuff moves around. Anybody have a solution?

    How did you run it into the ground? Did the bag fail, break etc and if so what failed/broke??

    My only gripe with mine is how big it is. It’s really pretty huge.

      @intoflyfishing  2 года назад

      Ya I think it’s a bit bigger than my Yeti Panga. But i like the added features and adaptions.

      @@intoflyfishing I agree 100%. It’s a bit too big but the accessories are great. I really like the extra rod holder.

      @@mudduck2520 mmm it’s a pretty thick material so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. But just make sure to avoid snags I guess.

    It does look like a nice product, bit it comes with a very large price tag. It is out of my budget.
