Entertaining and educational. Watching your fly management strategy makes me think about how many more flies I'd have if I didn't spend all that money on fancy boxes.
Oh, one more thing, I ordered a hoodie for my friend and a t shirt for me. Amazed at the quality and fit. One of the most comfy shirts I have. Really nice. Thanks Ben!!!
I bring a Katadyn BeFree water filter and just refill from whence I wade, occasionally camel'ing up. Even then, I still don't drink enough and end up getting a little dehydrated.
Yep this vids in the algorithm now. Never heard of this channel and I'm glad it popped into my recommended. Here's to this vid surpassing 40k views in a week or 2 .
In addition to my supplies I bring an emergency parka, sunscreen, a little bottle of iodine, and bug spray. Oh and a trash bag when I remember to replace it, I like to collect litter, there's always some :(
Most important item in my bag: my Ten Essentials. That first aid kit came in real handy several years ago when my buddy snuck up behind me on a small stream while I was casting and I planted a Caddis fly in his cheek.
They make beer coolers for golf bags that look like your rod tubes and sling over the shoulder when not stashed in the side of a golf bag. They will keep your beer cooler a little longer, and make a great empty holder. 🤙🏼
Good list of essentials. Will check my pack contents and see if I measure up. I’m not a huge fly fisherman. Yet. FYI- In Canada, we take real beer on the river. Just want that out there.
Huge Fly Fisherman Good come back! Great channel by the way! Funny Labatt Blue story. When we lived in Australia we hosted a Stanley Cup party for some fellow expat Canadians and a token American. We went to get booze for the party, at a Walmart sized grog shop, and asked the guy for some good Australian wine, like Yellowtail. He said “Aussies don’t drink that $hit!” Then he sold us some good stuff. We asked if he had any Canadian beer. He said he had Labatts Blue. My wife quickly replied, “Canadians don’t drink that $hit!” Cheers!
Nice waders!! I got the pro ones. Know that was a Huge fopah. Still, really nice waders. Like my vest. I’ve tried all the sling, back and hip packs, my friends love it when I try something new. Also, one thing I always have is a Sawyer water filter. Works great and I don’t have to carry more than one water bottle. That way I can take my 3000 flies to use 3 or 4. Great video, Stay Huge!!!
Thanks! This helps..I was looking at packs online yesterday. Sorry about your lunch..hope you survived. I got a few miles downriver yesterday and realized..after I got Super thirsty..I left my water bottle in the truck. 🤨🥵 Have a Huge Memorial Day Ben! 🇺🇸
Stay huge! Thanks for an upload this morning. Really liking the channel👍 keep up the great work. Trying to hit SW Colorado more this year. Trying to get out of the hell hole know as 11 mile canyon. You think u will head that way at all for some content??
I have a pocket in my fishing backpack that dedicated to food, and I always have a protein/granola bar, an apple and some trail mix. So if, like exactly what happened on Friday, I hike a couple miles up to a mountain lake and forget my lunch I’m kinda covered 👍
I have the vest-backpack combo thing that holds every single piece of my tackle and every fly I've bought. I've also upgraded from beer to flask of single malt Stay wet keep em huge
I used one of those blue lost creek net magnets with the tether. It works well. I use a fishpond chest pack. It carries more flies than I even look at and my back hurts. I cant change. Ibuprofen is a must. No one wants a headache or some shit while they're trying to fish. I wear a Hydration pack backpack thats on the smaller side but I can stick a set of korkers soles in there So I can switch between rubber and felt so I don' t die (yes I use bleach, have extra dry felt, treat it know all about AIS) Biggest pro tip I Pack a wind/rain jacket that clips onto my backpack in it s own little pouch it came with. The backpack also hold two beers. one in a standard koozie to be drank soon and one in one of those yeti can koozies. The yeti will keep a beer cold in my backpack in 90 degree weather for about 4 hours, sometimes closer to five. Don't forget to pack haribo twin snakes and beef jerky. Also bear spray.
I’ve got a Simms freestone backpack. It’s nice because it has a net holder. It’s not waterproof but I bought a small drybag I but in the bag. Don’t need to spend the big $$ for a waterproof bag when your fly boxes are all waterproof and you have a drybag for everything else
This might be the most random question but once you land a fish, what do you do with the rod? With bank fishing, I’ll set down the spinning rod n reel, but what do you do with a fly outfit?
I didn't see a Zip-Loc for used TP or a Deuce trowel to bury it at least 6" (so that animals are less likely to dig it up.) You are obviously a good steward of the resource so maybe it's something to think about. 👍 I've been enjoying binge watching your videos.
Damn, i never would have thought about foreign money.... But I do like to hike far when i fish. I am gonna tape some Yen to my Tenkara rod (just in case). Good tip Ben
Two half eaten chicken wings, one fully chewed up wooly bugger and a partially crushed warm can of PBR. Probably doesn’t count as a fishing pack but I will watch the video. Cause they are always HUGE.
My Fishpond mid-length net is lighter than my friend's metal-ass Rising short net :} I have a system with a stretchy cord, a carabiner, and magnets that make it effortless to grab if I've got a good fish on. If I'm bush-wacking I put it in the actual net-slot of my hip bag. Works for me. And folks if you can acquire a Rod Vault or the like, I highly recommend it. You might get a free sticker from Ben!
Don't get dehydrated. Only idiots get dehydrated when there's plenty of water around. Take one of those little 2oz Sawyer filters and share the stream with those trout.
Can you do a video that explains why it’s bad to high-hole a fellow angler? There’s nothing worse than working up river toward a hole and have some idiot crash through the bushes 25 yards ahead of you and cut you off. I see it all the time.
If you carry your TP with you, please carry a shovel as well!!! Nothing worse than coming across someone else's crap pile and toilet paper that they didn't bother to dig a 12" hole for!!! Apparently very prevalent in Oregon.
This may sound like a crappy suggestion, but something else I’d suggest all outdoors people have along with them in whatever your “pack” is, anti diarrhea pills. Just trust me on this.
If you hike and fish in the mountains a rod vault is pointless. If, like me, you fish and drive along a stream or river a rod vault equals more casts per day. Isn't that what it's all about? Sure I built my own out of water pipe and it looks like a rocket launcher on my wagon but I love it.
Love the rod vault slam!
Where do you keep the powerbait?
Next to his rapalas

The ibuprofen was a good tip for me. I forget water exists while standing in it.
I bring a Katadyn BeFree water filter and just refill from whence I wade, occasionally camel'ing up. Even then, I still don't drink enough and end up getting a little dehydrated.

I love the fly boxes!
I use a vest and a backpack so I can carry more flies that I won’t use
Same here, I like a small chest pack with a camelbak backpack. Boom.
James Ward sounds good!
Most important item in my bag: my Ten Essentials. That first aid kit came in real handy several years ago when my buddy snuck up behind me on a small stream while I was casting and I planted a Caddis fly in his cheek.
Tippet rings! I carry thousands of tippet rings! When the Zombie Apocalypse occurs I’ll have the market cornered.

So Labatt Blue? That’s good beer.

You need to cowboy up and pull a pier cart with a 48 quart Yeti
Thanks! This helps..I was looking at packs online yesterday. Sorry about your lunch..hope you survived. I got a few miles downriver yesterday and realized..after I got Super thirsty..I left my water bottle in the truck. 🤨🥵 Have a Huge Memorial Day Ben! 🇺🇸

A trout, a stick to hold it with and a fire. Lunch!!! Actually an awesome lunch.
On blood thinners so bandages. Also ibuprofen and aspirins(chest pains me or someone else) a good knife. And a lighter.
What length of cam straps do you use? Great video!!
1 ft

Thank you for the huge wooly bugger action. Was looking for that there 👍😂
I have the vest-backpack combo thing that holds every single piece of my tackle and every fly I've bought. I've also upgraded from beer to flask of single malt
Stay wet
keep em huge
😂😂😂😂😂 I'm not sure what I learned, but I can't stop laughing and that's good enough. Bravo!
I wear a vest and then a small hip pack to hold my fly reels and other assorted necessities. I like having everything in front where I can reach it.
Lone Star Beer prostaff I see.
lifestraw helps for dehydration problems.
No forceps? What are your takes on the tippet bars?
They were in my pocket. And the bars aren’t for me.
"but hey it's a great compliment to your rod vault" 😂
How much beer can that drone fly in?
Ben, no fried chicken, dry salami or cheese? Thx for keeping us informed and fly fishing fun. Cheers to beers!
Not enough beer. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 Where is the skeeter juice?
They aren’t out yet.

Holy crap! You crack me up!!
Quality intro
No leader straighteners?
I use a sling pack!
I’ve got a Simms freestone backpack. It’s nice because it has a net holder. It’s not waterproof but I bought a small drybag I but in the bag. Don’t need to spend the big $$ for a waterproof bag when your fly boxes are all waterproof and you have a drybag for everything else
Dude. Exact same program for me.
Yes! You’ve affirmed I am in fact, the perfect pack packer. Only thing you’re missing is pepper spray and a 9mm bc Arkansas.
I'm done with vest too. just got a Sage Brush waterproof backpack! I'm trying to limit the amount of fly boxes I take to the water!
Good hair edit in the first :30 bro.
Ben love you're work. If you come to Estes park I guide up here. I'll fish with you any time
Nice. I guided in Estes for 4 summers.
Those fly boxes...I get they work for you, but now my wife thinks they will work for me too...
Hahaha!
Creek company xr12 gang😂 love the raft😂
Hey, HFF, can you do a video on how to properly clean waders?
This might be the most random question but once you land a fish, what do you do with the rod? With bank fishing, I’ll set down the spinning rod n reel, but what do you do with a fly outfit?
The Ibuprofen logic is spot on.
I didn't see a Zip-Loc for used TP or a Deuce trowel to bury it at least 6" (so that animals are less likely to dig it up.) You are obviously a good steward of the resource so maybe it's something to think about. 👍 I've been enjoying binge watching your videos.
guy in the backpack picture probably one of the best Navy SEAL's ever...
Damn, i never would have thought about foreign money.... But I do like to hike far when i fish. I am gonna tape some Yen to my Tenkara rod (just in case). Good tip Ben
Stop it!
No fired chicken?
Does your pack fit the waders and boots or would you wear them even if hiking to spot? It seems tiring to hike out in wading boots any distance.
I rarely hike in waders, but I’ll hike miles in my wading boots. So no, they don’t go in my pack.
I must have missed it. Did any one see how big the midge box was? Asking for a friend...
Two half eaten chicken wings, one fully chewed up wooly bugger and a partially crushed warm can of PBR. Probably doesn’t count as a fishing pack but I will watch the video. Cause they are always HUGE.
Geez, you could fit the kitchen sink and a Tenkara rod in there.
Stop it
I bring a life straw so I don’t have to carry water cuz it’s heavy
Ben, is that your first sponsor on your shirt?
I wish

You redeemed yourself at the end there.
But can you cast in it?
Yes
I also carry a first aid kit and lately I added pepper spray (you never know ...)
Add a first aid kit
🔥
Most important part is the beer
Looks like me going for my net
An empty plastic bag to collect any dirty trash found along the way? Or maybe that's mostly a streetfishing issue.
let's see if the batteries are still good ...... yup, been there done that.
Don't get dehydrated. Only idiots get dehydrated when there's plenty of water around. Take one of those little 2oz Sawyer filters and share the stream with those trout.
I think I can lighten my bag! LOL. 🎪
How about drinking water?! That takes up a large part of my pack especially if I'm hiking in to somewhere
No first aid kit?
That’s what the duct tape is for.
I carry needlenose pliers that have nippers built in
Yes, surprised he didn't mention pliers or forceps.
They were in my pocket
What’s the beer you’re drinking?
Can you do a video that explains why it’s bad to high-hole a fellow angler? There’s nothing worse than working up river toward a hole and have some idiot crash through the bushes 25 yards ahead of you and cut you off. I see it all the time.
ruclips.net/video/BEooE0fVSbk/видео.html
but is there room for a fishing guide , or the old beat up coffee pot
No fish whistle? I think you’re hiding something.
No fried chicken?
I usually carry a chainsaw to free my flies from the trees...
Beer is food.
If you carry your TP with you, please carry a shovel as well!!! Nothing worse than coming across someone else's crap pile and toilet paper that they didn't bother to dig a 12" hole for!!! Apparently very prevalent in Oregon.
I just put in my pocket.
My registered nurse side cringed when you said you get dehydrated and take ibuprofen, protect those kidneys!
Umm, water? As in a water bottle? Or do you mountainman it and just sip from the river.
Did you not see the High Life?
This may sound like a crappy suggestion, but something else I’d suggest all outdoors people have along with them in whatever your “pack” is, anti diarrhea pills. Just trust me on this.

That is most definitely not what it’s all about.
I am surprised you don't have a bad back! Worse than a woman's purse!
I counted 3 beers, gonna need to up-size that bag to fit the other 3.
There were some items in the bag that were left out of the video.
Please, for the love of God, never take your sunglasses off again. You are not buttery.
No fried chicken?
