We didn’t have a name for it, but in the 90’s this was how I caught all my 24+‘s out of high pressure gold medal waters in Colorado (Cheesman Canyon and the like). Those big trout would see and indicator and KNOW there was a fisherman around.... settle right to the bottom no more white flashy flashy. We would typically use it for sight fishing monsters, so you knew your drift and slow set the hook if you saw it feed where you thought your fly was. 🤙🏼 love the vids 🤙🏼
My boy James is a great guide! And is definitely a master of the Euro style nymph fishing,
Just finished a HUGE binge so perfect timing. New subscriber so this is excellent.
Me too. I watched em all twice
Congrats Bill.
Thanks for the opportunity Ben.
So what’s it called when I use my 20 fly nymph rig. Don’t need to match the hatch when you are using every fly possible. One of em has to be right!
Alex T. It’s called innovation , haha
You’re a genius holy fuck
Alex T. We call that “Trot-lining” in the South.
I'd call it a mess
Fuckin snagging lol
Wait... what? You're giving Bill a TENKARA pole so he can go Euro-Nymphing & I won the Orvis rod? Sweet! Congrats Bill! Keep em rollin' Ben!
Well that’s Huge... All the cool guys are doing it.
Ive been flyfishing for a long time, why do i like your vids, i know all of this stuff but i keep comming back, oh the insanity.
Hold on, I’m getting my tenkara rod.
“If flycasting is a poem by Maya Angelou, euro nymph casting is a Soundcloud rapper. It’s trash.” Hahahahaha
When he was saying that Did you notice the angler across the river (over his right shoulder) exhale a huge dab hit❕❗️🔥 stay huge🤘
Ha! Nice catch. I hadn’t noticed.
jake rozier your observational skills are astounding . Hahaha
Yeah Bill! Come to dark the side .... the 3100 recon is an awesome rod , just saying .
I feel dirty just for having watched that.
Might have to try this euro nymphing thing.... Oh, and Congrads Bill
Great easy to follow intro video to euro neatness, muchos gracias fellas 👍
Ben
Glad to see chuggin Miller High. Best beer in the world.
Great article on Euro Nymphing. The sighter nymph line is really cool. It gives you a better visual of potential strikes.
Ben, Great video I think i'm going to have to watch a couple more times. Would love to get your take on "Dapping".
Love you guys! This is REALLY different :D I think my Swedish watchers would kill me if i did what you guys just did right here :D Great video! Oh btw: Its one rod, one line, one fly or its long line fishing...
Congrats bill..🤘
Oliver Edwards (old school fly fisherman, also Huge) perfected the line indicator imo.
অঞ্জন কমঠ প
Note to Ben: you use your fly line in euro nymphing when the HUGE trout you catch run upstream!!
Didn't win, but AWESOME give away. and I am still not convinced I can talk myself into Euro nymping… the fishing kind at least
Congrats Bill. Keep up the good work Ben
Great vid fellas! Funny and informative. Been wanting to get into it but need to research on how to rig it. So confused. As well as technique. I need a day with 'Ol James! Haha Do you guys ever make it to CO? Roaring fork, frying pan area?? It'd be a blast to rip some lips and tells some lies with ya! Thanks gents! Subscribed!
Oh btw, ero nimphing is the tipup from ice to fly
Kudos to the winner! Thanks for the huge giveaway (pun intended)
10k giveaway just ended and you are already at 13k? Nice
It's interesting to see the argument for bobberless nymphing come full circle, I grew up in the 80's, I saw Joe Humphreys demo his then "new" tuck cast only to have the demo interrupted by him catching a fish on nearly every cast, in those days, the thought of using a strike indicator was sacrilegious. Tying yarn onto your leader?? Where's you worm bobber boy? So now the way I learned to fish nymphs is back and those not using bobbers are being called weirdos, but Euronymphers do add a section of colored leader, so they are weirdos in that respect. What ever happened to watching the line and feeling for a strike? And, if your not hooking the bottom your not deep enough. Stay Huge. Love the videos.
Oh, you mean highsticking. Yea, we been had that, Klaus.
Love your videos! Cheers from the 406
Your creater on the rise congrats
Holy Shit I did this type of fishing this summer, did not realize it was called Euro Nymphing. Works like a charm. Great Vid.
The "make your leader longer" tip is subjective. I much prefer using a level fly line for more grip when setting the hook and playing fish.
This is going to be like the pair of parachute pants you had in the '80s except the Internet will never forget.
congrats Bill!
Great stuff "Ben Euro Fishing" haha
I subbed to about trout
Dang it HUGE......you were in my back yard and you didnt take me fishing? Well next time if you want to catch HUGE fush...hit me up.
Just when I was asking myself what about Tenkara ? bang 💥 Im glad you cleared that up I was getting ready to unsubscribe . Huge fan don’t scare me again like that :-)
Skiing today at Winter Park I looked down at the chair I was getting on and there was a "I'm a Huge Fly Fisherman" sticker on it. Reminded me to watch your video tonight and reminded me to practice casting on my lawn except I don't have a lawn. Is it OK to just practice at a lake with big trout swimming around in it?
Congrats Bill!!!
Congrats to Mike for winning the Orvis Recon. So what rod length and weight do you guys out there use for tight-line nymphing. I’m using a 11’ 3 wt that seems to work-I catch fish. But it just isn’t any fun. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, repeating a drift 8-10 times, move 2 feet and do the same thing....over and over again. I love tossing dry-dropper rigs to riffles and pocket water for brook and brown trout in mountain streams or even an indicator set up with multiple nymphs for rainbows in local lakes. But even though I catch fish doing it I just don’t find any enjoyment in Euro-nymphing.
I definitely recommend tying or buying some euro style flys with heavier tungsten beads (3.0mm and 3.5mm). My leader is 6ft sections of 20lb to 15lb to 12lb maxima to about 6ft of 2x sighter then a tippet ring.
What's the next progression of euro-nymphing, tipping your fly with a night crawler? Haha!
Congrats bill!!!
Bill owns a chest full of rabbit feet haha, and it paid off!
So its cane pole fishing with a fly pole. Interesting
glorified tenkara right.
If you’re still having trouble giving away the fly rod, I’d be more than happy to help you out. Could sure use a 10 ft 3wt for Euro nymphing.
Cheers!, stay Huge!!
No, but I'm ready for the pun fart.
Monacoan technique?? Hahaha. I love euro Nymphing with my 2wt Moonshine rod. Just another technique for the variety. New sub for sure!
"Characterized by not using an indicator". You just use Bi-Color line or similar line that is easy to see which you watch for changes in movement of your fly that INDICATES you make have a strike.
"How is it fly fishing if you're not using a fly line"? Because you are using a fly. (A single-pointed hook dressed with feathers, hair, thread, tinsel, or any similar material to which no additional hook, spinner, spoon or similar device is added) almost always a fly in a nymph pattern.
anyone else hoping the wade fishermen in the back would stumble and fall? anyone?
Proud #eurogeek
Ok so I have literally no idea how to euro nymph even tho I’ve tried a lot do you need a 3 weight to keep a tight line cause I use a 7/8 beginner trash fly rod and it doesnt work at all
This shit works so well in Michigan, If you tie your own nymphs and have plenty of em.
The "rules" in competition fly fishing are just damn stupid. Here are the rules (according to me...and also according to me i'm the only person who matters) Rule #1. Catch the fish on a fly with a fly rod (no tenkara) land it in a net and at the end the team with the most weight in fish wins. Like bass fishing...but with less beer belly.
Congrats Bill. Lucky S.O.B
I have the last rod lou oveite ever made, ask your older freinds
Euronymphing is code for“Tenkara”
I do hate the term because basically any beginner fly fisherman who uses nymphs are technically euro nymphing. I'd say it's just nymphing. New lingo, such as the new "surfer dude" that's taken over the trout and wing shooting worlds are some of the most non ethical people ive ever met
i don't blame dry flyers for being down on euro nymphing but anybody who nymphs with weight is not that far removed from euro nymphing... Also, is using an indicator better than euro nymphing? i don't know... to me it depends on the size of the stream. Where i live, there are many good small streams. Euro nymphing small streams is pretty darn effective.
Congrats bill
This has nothing to do with the topic...but I've been fly fishing for a few decades and never made the switch to an expensive large arbor reel I've got some nice fishing poles, but will finally spending a little extra on a nice reel change my life.
Really like you guys!!!
Hola Ben, where can we get I'm a HUGH fly fisherman stickers? Didn't see them on your merch page.
www.hugeflyfisherman.com/shop/
Damn it Bill
Dude.....you're euroing it up..ahhhhhggg
I never use strike indicators. You don't need them to see a strike, even without the fancy colored tippet.
We just not going to talk about the murderer in the background half the time?
What are your go to beers when fishing. And do you change up in different situations??
PBR or High Life, depending on what’s on sale.
That is quite the scarf.
Bobber boy for life
Dame bro getting popular in the world
@ 2:12 He really said there are 69 videos and thought it would go under my premature mind?
That water looks familiar.
Is it bad I have yet to learn wet flies and its been like 6 years since I started?
Can you make a video about how to be a huge instagram fisherman? Thank you
Who's the dork high holing you in the background
Adam Steffen it’s the Juan, fishing shoulder to shoulder with geriatrics is common practice.
The "wanna beer" type or the "Eddie Bauer" type?
Maya Angelou? You could have gone with Robert W Service? Or Bukowski. Didn't Gierach write a book of poerty?
What’s wrong with Maya Angelou?
I mean he’s not entirely wrong, but I’m pretty sure he mixed up hipsters and euro numphers.
Stay huge Bill.
Can you ask Chaz why he's trying to say his name is James?
So mine was your favorite and I didn’t win?!?!?! COMMUNISM Still, Dion’s rocks.
😤 heard you say it once and puked just thinking about it and I'm ready to 🤢 euro nymphing
I want to try euro nymphing.
It's like experimenting at a college party. You know its gay but you might enjoy it
Euro nymphing super cool yea?
COMPETITIVE FLY FISHING!?!? EGADS! Say it ain’t so. Sounds like competitive meditating or being on the pro yoga tour. The only thing worse that comes to mind is........ PRO BASS FISHERMAN ( comes complete with sponsor laden attire and clear glitter coat 100K speed boat for sneaking up on those big boys in style.
Would love to hear the comment about the fried chicken!!!! Geaux Tigers!!! #1

No. New winner has been picked. Uploading video now.
I deleted it after the winner contacted me.
I deleted it after the winner contacted me.
If you only Euro Nymph are you going to be only a Huge Fisherman?
"I don't have myself that much." LOL. Funny how non-euro dudes goof on euro-dudes, because the euro-dudes DEFINITELY enjoy taking shots at the bobber crowd.
That joke was about tenkara, though
@@HugeFlyFisherman Oh right. Well, I was making two points and I didn't make that clear. The Tenkara jab was excellent, and just the fact the "two sides" give it back and fort (bobber vs. euro). Good shit, man, good shit.
Stay huge
Hai friend 👍👍👍👍
Uncle Ben, Lol
Damnit Bill............
nice
#TheExploserMan
Drats! Foiled again.
I still don't want to be a Bill.
It’s not fly fishing, build yourself a 10ft light spinning rod. Noodle rod.
