I had a few issues with Rob Zombie's Halloween remake, but it was pretty good. My problems with it were; 1) Too much cussing 2) don't like the explanation of why Michael is a killer. The things I liked were the orange mask he wore as he escaped the asylum and the time spent on his younger years in the asylum.
It was an action movie more then Horror. Zombie trued reinventing the wheel here and wasn’t close to being a great film . What made the originals great is you didn’t see to much of Myers and when you did it was at the right time ,stories are best revolving around the supporting cast , Myers was like an action hero in Robs movies .
I actually really like these movies. The over the top cussing is hilarious, the kills and theme song are still good, and casting a 6'9 295 pound guy to play Michael instead of just another normal sized guy was a great idea. Makes him stand out more amongst other slashers and makes him way more intimidating.
First movie really wasn't bad. I liked it. The second movie wasn't bad neither. Just the white horse thing kind of weighed it down. But they were both decent.
I think the supernatural aspect completely tarnished the sequel it was brought up out of no where it wasn’t explained why lori/angel was having these visions and doesn’t really do anything with it besides giving her something else to fuss about other then finding out her real identity and then her just becoming evil and getting locked up made 0 sense doctor Lumis doing nothing but being a asshole throughout the movie when he was shown as someone who actually gave a shit in the first one and micheal seemingly trying to avoid conflict for strangers but completely goes off the handle for random people just lacks consistency
Rob Zombies take on Halloween and the origin of The Shape was crude, sick, unsettling, raw, violent and at times bizarre. All reasons why I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think this explains why some people dislike it so much is they can’t handle how demented and traumatizing the film is at times. Michael Myers is portrayed so ruthlessly and aggressively, the shaking camera work when Michael is pounding the guys head against the bathroom stall, you can almost feel each kill viscerally. The highly dysfunctional and at times incestuous family dynamic (for example when the dad makes an inappropriate comment about his teen daughter in the kitchen), innocent children subjected to an emotionally neglectful and festering home environment. At least for those who grew up in broken households or witnessed their parents go through a nasty divorce, the family scenes at the beginning are definitely powerful. As a child your parents yelling vehemently at each other is one of the most terrifying and haunting sounds, supplemented with the ear piercing cry of a baby and dishes being thrown to the ground, just brutal.
The reason people dislike the Rob Zombie version of Halloween is because they humanize Michael, they give him this unnecessary tragic backstory to get us to sympathize with him. Michael in the original films doesn’t have a tragic backstory and isn’t sympathetic because he didn’t need one/didn’t have to be, he’s 100% pure evil and his motivations are unknown, Michael felt more like a demon/force of nature than a man, and that’s what made him scary. Rob Zombie’s Michael Myers doesn’t feel like Michael Myers, he feels like someone cosplaying as Michael Myers, and while I do think the films themselves aren’t that bad they suck as Halloween films because they don’t understand what made those original movies great.
@@AthifArif-g4t I couldn't agree with this any less. I was born in the 70's and watched the original Halloween on VHS. I never thought to myself that Michael Myers isn't human in that film. He seemed very evil, violent, powerful and resilient.. In fact we even see him as a small child committing the murder of his sister which is very disturbing for a young boy however making him a sick human being. I 100% AGREE with Tyler Montoya in the sense that it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility that there is this boy who was chastised, tormented, then snapped and killed his sister and stepfather. After being arrested and institutionalized, he grew into a massive man with demented anger and rage inside of him. When he kills the orderly (who treated him nice during his time in the nuthouse) when he crushes Joe Grizzly in the truck stop bathroom and when he violently impales people with the knife with insane force it creates this haunting anticipation of complete doom when he gets near his next victim. You know he has no soul and is operating like a complete, massive, killing machine and I think Zombie captured a more realistic back story as to how all of this culminated. Also when you compare Zombie's first Halloween film to Halloween Ends it makes Zombie look like Francis Ford Coppola or Stanley Kubrick. Ends was a DUMPSTER FIRE!
@@leewinter28I’m not saying that Michael isn’t human in a literal sense, I’m saying it in a metaphorical sense. Throughout the original movies Michael is described in a dehumanizing manner (often referred to as the evil”evil on 2 legs the boogeyman, it, etc) mostly by doctor Loomis, even the way Michael acts and moves feels unnatural, Rob Zombie’s version humanizes him by giving him this tragic backstory “oh look at how terrible Michael’s life is, his stepfather treats him and the rest of his family like garbage, he’s relentlessly bullied by his classmates, how sad”, it’s the same reason the curse of thorn trilogy failed (even though I enjoy those movies) Humanizing Michael and giving a reason for his actions/a backstory removes the appeal/fear factor of the character. That original script would brought the series into the brutal and raw horror shores of the 70s where no rules were set and horror was free from mainstream.
I really liked the first Rob Zombie film, but thought he took it way too far with the sequel. My favorite version of his first fil is the workprint that was leaked. I think it had the best of the theatrical and unrated versions in it, though I did prefer the prolonged chase with Laurie in the unrated version.
I think it also had to do with the production team and all the hell they were giving him while making the first and he only agreed to do the sequel to get out of a three part sequel that’s why it feels so rushed and bland

My best friend used to say his take was that the original Halloween was the legend of Michael Myers, while Zombie’s version is more like what actually happened. It always made sense to me in that way.
That's actually a great way to look at it. I think Zombie's version of Micheal Myers is a little too much of a stereotypical psychopath, but looking at his Halloween as the truth behind the myth might even be what RZ was going for
I’m still pissed at what they did to Danny Trejo’s character,it was one of the first times he played a non criminal who didn’t deserve what he got. He’s such a good dude that even on those other roles it’s hard to watch him get taken out, especially when you see his head on a turtle🤪

John Carpenter has denied that Rob ever talked to him. He's annoyed by that rumor. He said, that Rob. NEVER talked to him, but Zombie was using this to try to help the movie somehow. Carpenter didn't care at that point...about Halloween anymore.

I once saw one of the work prints of part II (Zombie) sue me I like them, where Laurie kills both Loomis and Micheal I want to know which work print that was it seemed a better version
My biggest issue with people complaining about the early-late 00s horror remakes is that they aren’t consistent with their criticisms if it’s too much like the original it’s not good if it’s too different also not good I feel like you gotta appreciate them for what they are
Ain't gonna lie, movie was pretty dark! Especially in a kids eyes turned to evil, what i love about rob zombie especially his music is to look out what's around you & its a proven fact..
I actually love the first Rob Zombie Halloween (not so much the second) I like how brutal Micheal is in that movie, do find it hard to recommend to others tho since the dialogue can be… extreme to put it lightly lol.
I really liked & enjoyed the Rob Zombie versions possibly more than most of the 90’s-03 sequels. They were gory and a fresh take Michael. They could have had Danielle Harris in her reprised role from the originals. A different take on her character and original death. But overall, IMHO I see the positives
Rob zombie doesn't get enough respect for remaking the best version of halloween... people really can be haters... rob zombie deserves way more respect and credit... only thing i wish was different was that part 2 since they had to change to child actor they should have covered his face with the paper mask he made in the asylum... my only bad take other than that it was a masterpiece
I actually liked the 2007 Halloween. 2009 was kinda meh. It wasn't the worst thing I've seen. Better than Halloween Ends imo. I liked Tyler Mane as Michael. Turned him into a 6'8 monster.
It made no sense if Michael Myers is human and you can identify with him the you miss the whole point of the original movie, Michael was scary because he has no background like joker, besides the facts with his family Michael Myers is a walking demon the sister thing happened in Halloween 2 but to me the original had it best Laurie didn't know who Michael Myers was so it added to the psychopath effect and homicide maniac chase everyone around but again no one in the town thought Michael has a sister and to me changing the story for the sequel took away from the sequels later on.
The movies had there moments but letting everyone know and showing everything about Myers backstory completely removed the mystery aspect. That along with making Myers 12 feet tall were poor decisions.
Rob Zombie’s halloween from my honest point of view was kinda like the movie batman begins, resurrecting the batman movie franchise after the disaster flop 1997’s movie batman and robin so yeah between movie flops halloween resurrection and batman and robin 1997, both movie directors Christopher Nolan and Rob Zombie revived two of the worlds iconic movie franchises halloween and batman. 🎬
I don’t understand the hate for Zombie’s H1. It’s lowkey amazing. I know the childhood parts are so grimy and gross, but the last half, aka the OG Halloween 1 remake part, is brilliant. It’s terrifying and a great modern spin on a classic. Idk I really enjoy Zombie’s H1 as a true horror movie. The Myers’ mask might be my favorite in the series, but the OG 1978 mask will never be topped. It’s a great change up from Michael being just another person in the background to him being a walking refrigerator. I like that we have a different and more brutal take. Zombie’s Halloween 2 on the other hand is garbage
At 5:34 yeah i just know that about Danielle Panabaker was supposed to be Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie Halloween 2007 Remake and I wouldn’t mind Danielle Panabaker as Laurie Strode as that character she was in a another remake Friday the 13th 2009 and also Piranha 3DD 2012 and I wish Danielle Panabaker would of gotten to play the role for Laurie Strode but oh well it is for what it is but i still enjoy Scout Taylor Compton as Laurie Strode i think she still a great actress and she is also beautiful and very gorgeous too
It was watchable but I always say it's not scary that Michael becomes a product of his environment. A kid snapping because he got bullied at home and school and started killing animals that gradually turned into murdering people isn't as scary as a kid with a normal life snapping

You either like Rob or you don’t, I love him. I saw and have the first film, I never saw the sequel only parts of it. Look it’s never going to be like the original which I liked and it’s not everyone’s cup of tea at least he only made 2 instead of the 9 that followed the original. The last movie Halloween Ends was horrible which basically has Laurie befriending a nerdy kid and the kid wants revenge against his bulllies and somehow meets Micheal hibernating in the sewer and forces him to teach him how to kill. The moral of the story don’t make friends with Laurie Myers or you’ll become Micheal.
Me too. I actually like the second one even more. In fact I think I've watched RZ Halloween 2 more times than any other film in the franchise. And the fact that it makes people mad, makes me like it even more.
There were talks before about a third installment to Rob Zombie’s halloween movie saga but then it became unclear if Rob Zombie would come back to write and direct a third movie so then therefore with that being said the whole idea for a third installment of Rob Zombie’s halloween became completely scrapped and then of course Rob Zombie himself went on to make other movies. 🎥

The first one was amazing! The second one started out really well. I wish they would have kept it in the hospital like the original. But somehow it just went somewhere else.
The original Halloween was pretty good; but the remakes are some of my favorite flicks!
Showing Michael’s face and talking as a boy killed the mystique.
The best Halloween movie ever !!!
Lol, no
What happened to "wtf happened"?
The edge has been smoothed out. Sad to see
Right? WTF usually meant something went wrong and uncommon knowledge to the public. Now he's just discussing old shit and reminding us of basic facts.
@@iHaveTheDocuments Scraping for content. No new ideas, nor anything exciting in the world of movies,
which also applies for this channel and pretty much all of RUclips.
i know lol i clicked this thinking omg what happened to the film was it pulled from all media etc, but nothing happened...he's just explaining it. -_-
Would love to see what Halloween would have been like without Winestine telling him to "make it more rob zombie!" Every 5 minutes.
IMHO thought the work print was the superior version, gave heart to the film & song usage was better, shame it never got released as a supplementary feature when released
I once saw one of the work prints of part II (Zombie) sue me I like them, where Laurie kills both Loomis and Micheal I want to know which work print that was it seemed a better version
I love it tbh. Rob Zombie is awesome
My biggest issue with people complaining about the early-late 00s horror remakes is that they aren’t consistent with their criticisms if it’s too much like the original it’s not good if it’s too different also not good I feel like you gotta appreciate them for what they are
the first one was actually pretty good to me honestly
Honestly rob zombies films as rob is a singer did a excellent job on the movies i totally like them ,
Same here. But maybe I'm biased due to my love of Rob/Sheri.
I honestly adore Rob Zombie’s Halloween, I prefer it over the original. Never bothered to see the second one, I feel like it ended perfectly.
thats the answer im looking for
Amen to this!
I personally liked Rob Zombies Halloween 1 and 2. It’s was a refreshing take. I didn’t want another Carpenter copy movie.
Rob zombie Halloween in my top 3 of Halloween movies
Ain't gonna lie, movie was pretty dark! Especially in a kids eyes turned to evil, what i love about rob zombie especially his music is to look out what's around you & its a proven fact..
Robs Halloween is my 2nd favorite Halloween movie
This Halloween was pretty Good rob zombies Halloween 2 not so well
I actually love the first Rob Zombie Halloween (not so much the second) I like how brutal Micheal is in that movie, do find it hard to recommend to others tho since the dialogue can be… extreme to put it lightly lol.
The missing year wouldve been nice cause i always felt there was a missing part of the story between Halloween 2 and 4
I like Rob zombies movies especially Halloween.
If you ever wanted to see Michael Myers kill half of the og Spy Kids, this is your movie
@@TonyCakaScarface welcome to the Rob zombie's Halloween cult.
Michael being white trash, 7ft tall and rolling around in a hoodie? Garbage
Resurrection immediately looked better after zombie’s remakes.
I actually liked the 2007 Halloween. 2009 was kinda meh. It wasn't the worst thing I've seen. Better than Halloween Ends imo. I liked Tyler Mane as Michael. Turned him into a 6'8 monster.
I love the Zombie versions.
I'm 45 years old. I only respect love, and watch are the two Rob's Halloweens. Classics right there.
I liked both the rob zombie Halloween movies.
They not classics but his Michael was definitely the most violent and vicious
great additions to the series.
H1 was great..made myers seem somewhat real..Manes height was the selling point..an absolute unit
"What's the difference between jelly & jam?"
I like his take on the movies but his writing holds these movies back so much
Would have loved to have seen a Hellraiser crossover
Rob Zombie’s halloween from my honest point of view was kinda like the movie batman begins, resurrecting the batman movie franchise after the disaster flop 1997’s movie batman and robin so yeah between movie flops halloween resurrection and batman and robin 1997, both movie directors Christopher Nolan and Rob Zombie revived two of the worlds iconic movie franchises halloween and batman. 🎬
The title pretty much sums it up.
The Uve Bowl of horror.
I Like both of Rob Zombies Halloweens. For me they were far better than most of the sequels giving us a new insight.
At 5:34 yeah i just know that about Danielle Panabaker was supposed to be Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie Halloween 2007 Remake and I wouldn’t mind Danielle Panabaker as Laurie Strode as that character she was in a another remake Friday the 13th 2009 and also Piranha 3DD 2012 and I wish Danielle Panabaker would of gotten to play the role for Laurie Strode but oh well it is for what it is but i still enjoy Scout Taylor Compton as Laurie Strode i think she still a great actress and she is also beautiful and very gorgeous too
The first one is epic in both theatrical and unrated, but II is far more enjoyable in the theatrical cut.
Nope, both are ass shit
If I was a director I’d try to make a sequel to Halloween resurrection just for fun!
The cursing could definitely be dialed down, but it was a good modern take on the original 🤷♂️
Rob’s two Halloweens are unironically my two favorites of the entire franchise!
Same, i was never a fan of the original and the sequels, i was more of a Freddy and Jason fan, but Rob Zombies Halloween 1 and 2 are amazing
Ooooph. L
I hate how people are so over critical on this remake... this was an absolute masterpiece!
I actually loved both Rob zombies Halloween movies they were fire
Danielle Pennebaker is too dam cute for this version of Halloween.
It was watchable but I always say it's not scary that Michael becomes a product of his environment. A kid snapping because he got bullied at home and school and started killing animals that gradually turned into murdering people isn't as scary as a kid with a normal life snapping
The Rob Zombie apolgists in this comment section just proves that all you have to do is make a shittier Halloween in order to make a shitty Halloween "actually pretty good if you stop and think about it".
Halloween 6 comes out. "Actually, Halloween 5 wasn't that bad."
Halloween Resurrection comes out. "Actually, Curse is not THAT bad..."
Halloween 2007 comes out. "Halloween Resurrection has a 'special' place in my heart..."
Halloween II comes out. "The FIRST movie was actually better. This killed the franchise."
Halloween 2018 comes out. "This is perfect."
Halloween Kills comes out. "2018 was the GOAT yerrrr"
Halloween Ends comes out. "Rob Zombie was better."
NEXT HALLOWEEN. "Halloween Ends is actually a masterpiece but you guys just don't see it bec-
*Halloween 6 comes out*
Fans: Halloween 5 wasn't bad! I mean, it's way better than this modern 90s MTV generation crap! Why is he part of a stupid cult now? Also, what's up with goddamn flashing strobe lights?
*Halloween Resurrection comes out*
Fans: Halloween 6 is underrated and actually quite good and doesn't deserve the hate it gets. Who the fuck is this Busta Rhymes?
*Rob Zombie's Halloween II comes out*
Fans: The first one was not that bad! This one is just godawful! WTF is up with these stupid white horses? What is this, The Never(Fucking)Ending Story?
*Halloween Kills comes out*
Fans: Just awful cringe! The 2018 requel was actually good and they should've just stopped there. The whole damn "Evil Dies Tonight" shit got so fucking old and they were trying too hard to remake Halloween II and failed.
*Halloween Ends comes out*
Fan: Wow, this fucking awful! Nobody gives a shit about this Cory character. We apologize for calling Kills "awful cringe". It's actually a great throwback to Halloween II!
*Whenever Halloween is rebooted again*
Fans: Wow, this is worse than that Rob Zombie crap from 25 years ago. We were way too harsh on Ends, years ago. I actually think Ends is a very underrated and misunderstood cult classic. WTF is this shit!? Micheal shouldn't be talking like a special needs kid!
The donut scene has Rob zombie written all over it
I actually thought rob zombies version was great I loved it
The ones who like this version, are the ones that love Resurrection
Can’t lie I despise the Rob Zombie Halloween Movies as they’re my least favorites in this Franchise
They’re better than 5 or 6 .
I think 6 is better than Zombie's movies. Well, a hybrid cut of 6 taking the best aspects of the theatrical and producer's cut is better imo
@@petevaldezbc1the sequal yes the first hn imo
Wait a minute, what John Carpenter movies was Dee Wallace a regular in? Did you mean Tommy Lee Wallace?
What happened to Rob Zombies Halloween - simple answer It sadly existed. 😂
Better then kills and ends tho haha
I unapologetically love both RZ movies.
Me too. I actually like the second one even more. In fact I think I've watched RZ Halloween 2 more times than any other film in the franchise. And the fact that it makes people mad, makes me like it even more.
Based
It was good, second was goofy
There were talks before about a third installment to Rob Zombie’s halloween movie saga but then it became unclear if Rob Zombie would come back to write and direct a third movie so then therefore with that being said the whole idea for a third installment of Rob Zombie’s halloween became completely scrapped and then of course Rob Zombie himself went on to make other movies. 🎥
