Spawn is my second favourite superhero after Ninja Turtles and this movie really didn't do him justice. This is an actual movie that desperately needs a reboot, not what Hollywood is doing right now. But we'll never get it. Todd is too much of an egomaniac, no studio in their right mind would produce the movie under his conditions.
Though you're probably right, I think there might be hope in this case. We all know that Hollyweird has had several large flops lately. If there was ever a time that some studio might take a shot on something like this, it may be close to now. They're getting desperate and it did make money the first time around. We'll see, I suppose.
@@JKM395 IF they actually have a good script written by someone other than Todd. And actually have Spawn be the main character, not make hime the shark from Jaws. Yes, there has to be horror elements but Todd's idea to only have him in the movie for a few minutes makes no sense. I remember his script got leaked and there was a scene where Spawn literally turned into a couch, like what hahaha.
Fortunately from what this video mentioned about the King Spawn script, Todd wasn’t credited as a writer. But the people who were actually have some solid output. One of em wrote for the Joker movie for example. As unique as Todd’s original idea was with the whole jaws inspired story… that’s something he should try AFTER we get just a GOOD REGULAR representation of Spawn. We didn’t wait nearly 30 years for a film that barely has him in it or is more of a detective drama with a side of Spawn. Also… there’s gotta be a better choice than freakin Jamie Fox for the role 🤢
I remember loving this movie when it came out. Also the comic book, every time my dad and I would go downtown to the comic store (in the basement of a book store above, you had to walk past all the pr0n as a kid to get to the comic books downstairs), and dad and I would go there on State St in Madison, WI. I would always pick up the latest Spawn comic books to see what kind of twisted vision Todd could come up with next. McFarlane Toys are still influential to this day, I still have the McFarlane Toys action figures for the Akira movie anime and the motorcycle with Kaneda and Tetsuo. Those things still look incredible.
Too funny this is suddenly on now. I've just started going over the series on MAX. I honestly still can't believe they got John Leguizamo in that suit for the movie! 😈🤡😂
God fucking damn, I loved the animated series. If only they made a movie that followed the comics and animated series better it would be a awesome movie.
I'll never forgot running to my comic book store when Spawn was released. It had a huge release party, and was so much fun. I used to have both Spawn and Violator toys. It was such a fond memory. I remember the movie being good, but it deserved an R rating. I hate the MPAA
Anyone who played the game Heretic would notice the Chaos serpent's design was inspired by the Violator. Never red the comic before, but, seeing a Chaos Serpent just made me like the movie more as a kid!
Spawn was my second attempt at collecting comics, starting with Spawn Universe. Collecting new issues got away from me over a year ago and I'm way behind. I just hope the next movie is more likely to be made than I am able to catch up with the comics.
Now that Hollywood has seen R-rated comic book movies do well, very well in the case of Deadpool, how about we get a proper Spawn movie? I used to really enjoy the animated series, wish that would have went on.
Grew up watching this movie. I always loved it. Never saw the comics, buy the visuals and story concept were awesome. Quoted Clown so many times lol. "What a pretty little dress. Wonder if they got it in my size?" 😂😂
Me and a group of friends were SO excited to see this being huge fans. We were kinda in stunned silence at the end with how bad most of it turned out. The Hell sequences with Malebolgia talking without his mouth moving were low points.
Jai white said in an interview that they changed the movie took stuff out and changing everything in the editing room. He said he saw the movie at the screening like what the fuck was that which made the movie suck.
This is one of my favorite movies. I loved everything about it back then and I watched it a few years ago and I still enjoyed it. Glad the cape stayed as well!
Used to work at a video rental store. One day a New Line rep came in. We talked for a bit about this and that, then he offered me a free shirt. It was a Spawn shirt. 😁 I honestly hadn't seen it yet since it was super fresh, but I couldn't pass up a free t-shirt. Still have it somewhere. Also have a duffle bag from Paramount. Good times. Good times.
I saw this movie in a small (Probably closed) theater in Dover DE, right next to a Chuckie Cheeses. My dad didn't want to watch Spawn and watched Air Force One next door so it was cool that you mentioned those being out at the same time. I do wish I had watched Air Force One instead. That movie is pretty solid. Spawn might have been the first film I saw on the big screen that I didn't accept as a good movie right away. At a certain young age, you just accept everything that contains your fav characters in it. Everything I love is flawless, right? This is was the first time I questioned that. I remember hating the heart felt scene at the end when Spawn is playing with the dog and everyone is sitting in the living room like they're about to start passing around Christmas Presents. I can see now that the forced PG - 13 and constant studio demands were really what made this film suffer. I might still order a copy of it. There is something sort of fun about it. Def check out the animated series. Also has a cheesy ending monologue but it's very brief. Everything before that is hardcore.
A big mistake of having Spawn go around without his mask. We see only his burnt face. In the comics we rarely see his face. Im the movie, we rarely see his mask.

Four years ago , I said that Idris Elba would have been a much better actor to play Spawn over Jamie Foxx .
The Spawn movie was amazing.
Just like venom, it should have been rated r
Too funny this is suddenly on now. I've just started going over the series on MAX. I honestly still can't believe they got John Leguizamo in that suit for the movie! 😈🤡😂
God fucking damn, I loved the animated series. If only they made a movie that followed the comics and animated series better it would be a awesome movie.
I'll never forgot running to my comic book store when Spawn was released. It had a huge release party, and was so much fun. I used to have both Spawn and Violator toys. It was such a fond memory.
I remember the movie being good, but it deserved an R rating. I hate the MPAA
Spawn really was great. I like the sqawn universe a lot
Anyone who played the game Heretic would notice the Chaos serpent's design was inspired by the Violator.
Never red the comic before, but, seeing a Chaos Serpent just made me like the movie more as a kid!
Till this day spawn is one of the best experience I’ve had in a theater thank you Todd McFarlane
If a new Spawn movie is made, it will sadly be woke as all hell😢
So much appreciation for this channel with a The Pest mention. Freaking love that movie. Haha.
they really need to bring Spawn back while rated r comic movies are doing good. please please please! i actually loved this terribly good movie.
Spawn came out when I was at the prime age to just absolutely love it. I watched it almost everyday for years.
I love the HBO cartoon. The movie should have been Rated R and more serious like Blade but it was decent Michael Jai White did a good job as Spawn
With the success of Deadpool movies, there's a market for an R rated Spawn movie today.
I was around 12 when Spawn came out. Definitely the target audience and I believe I saw it about five times in the theater. 😂
The practical effects and the suits were pretty good but man, the CG really holds this movie back, it’s just terrible.
He De-Spawned, buahahahah!
...ok, I'll show myself out.
That's enough, Clown.
Spawn was my second attempt at collecting comics, starting with Spawn Universe. Collecting new issues got away from me over a year ago and I'm way behind. I just hope the next movie is more likely to be made than I am able to catch up with the comics.
Blew my 6 year old mind when I saw this in the theatre. I loved the action figures too.
Love this movie. Even better with the soundtracks.
Jai white said in an interview that they changed the movie took stuff out and changing everything in the editing room. He said he saw the movie at the screening like what the fuck was that which made the movie suck.
Yeah I remember him saying they had to cut the movie about 21 times to get the PG-13 rating
The crow, spawn, and resident evil were my FAVORITE 90's soundtracks!
This is one of my favorite movies. I loved everything about it back then and I watched it a few years ago and I still enjoyed it. Glad the cape stayed as well!
One of my favorite movies as a kid
Peak cinema! 🤌
If not for the Hell sequence....the rest of the movie is very, very good.
A big mistake of having Spawn go around without his mask. We see only his burnt face. In the comics we rarely see his face. Im the movie, we rarely see his mask.
Rated PG-13 movie diminished the superstar anti-superhero popularity and the character has been stuck in the 90's ever since.
Oh the Soundtrack. It is absolutely amazing. Have it on MC to this date. One of the best ever❤️
John playing clown was the best part of the movie. He is the reason I have clown tattooed on my chest.
I have this on vhs and love it
Now is honestly the best time to release a new rated R Spawn.
