Something about Friday the 13th movies in the 80’s just had this incredible charm-beautifully shot, good casting, campy but enjoyable dialogue and plot, a simple good time watching kids get hacked up and a great final girl (except Tommy Jarvis) making it to the end. Good times.
Woah 2 hours, I'm looking forward to this one. I got the Friday the 13th (2009) 4K from Arrow Video recentl, can't wait til I have some time to watch that too
My F13th Mount Rushmore is probably 1,2, 4 and 6, although there are times when I think I like 3 and 7 as much as 6. There's so much variety in the films, you can have a great time with pretty much all of them!
i'm like that with part 6, but that's since i got into these just around the time part 7 came out, and got a taped/dubbed copy of part 6. meanwhile my local video rental shop had parts 1, 4, 6, 5 (and later 7 and 8) but 2 and 3 were stolen, missing, or broken so it was a while before i saw either of parts 2 or 3.
Good video as usual, but I am missing the heartfelt narration from the usual guys in some of these.. Lance is one of my favorite narrators on the channel! ❤
just found the perfect video to watch with my meal but on a main note friday the 13th part 4 and 6 are the best and my favorite in the whole franchise and i lowkey like rookie jason from part 2 with the bag-head.
I've always said to this day...The "Friday The 13th" Franchise is the best classic horror-franchise EVER...The era alone in which they were filmed...with the cast(s) they used are unparalleled....
What no one ever talks about is that Paramount wanted to end the Friday the 13th franchise with Part 3 in 1982, wanting to distance themselves from the slasher film craze and feeling that the genre was losing popularity. While Part 3 was a success, Paramount felt dissatisfied by the film itself, which is why the decided to REALLY end it with "The Final Chapter" in 1984. But Paramount, still drunk on box office returns, decided to continue the franchise despite objections from those in the studio who wanted to end it, and the series fell into shameless self-parody with A New Beginning, Jason Lives, The New Blood, and Jason Takes Manhattan.
@@Madbandit77 Money is money. Any and all studios will forfeit their "prestige" for cold hard cash and then, per Hollyweird Accounting, claim they lost money.
Jason lives is easily the best film in the series because its the only one that feels like an actual movie as opposed to a B grade straight slasher. With that said Friday is my favorite slasher series but all the films minus about 2 are the same thing with slight varations. Jason Lives is the only one that feels like a real movie made by a real director using the series concept of Jason.
I remember THAT 3D craze. It lasted from about 81 to 83. Some OTHER movies from that craze were Parasite, Treasure of the Four Crowns, Space Hunter, Jaws 3, Metal Storm, The Man Who Wasn't There, Amityville 3, House of Wax and Andy Warhol's Frankenstein (those LAST TWO mentioned there being OLDER films that were re-released during said craze).
Great video! In our house, Friday and Jason are at the top. For us, we have the most fun watching this series among others. The cheesiness, the settings, the music, the nostalgic apect...nothing says 80s slasher like Friday the 13th ❤😊🪓
The original 8 movies all had their moments - even Manhattan has the decapitation! My favourites include the original, II, IV, V, and VII, but they're all watchable - like a slightly edgier cozy mystery.
to each their own but after 7 they go down until the remake but even then... 1-7 the Paramount year's are the best year's of F13th to many but again to each their own...
@Whitleythe13th you're not wrong. I guess what i said i could've said better. I have a distinct fondness for Jason goes to hell even though I know it's shit.
Goes to Hell is a good horror movie just not a good Friday film the whole series minus Goes to hell and X is the same thing each time with only slight varation. Only Jason Lives feels like an actual movie by an actual director.
The original is the best followed by part 4. I love part 7. We are long over-do for a new Friday the 13th film. The next Friday the 13th is in December. Im going to a horror fan event at a local movie theater for the re-release of Friday the 13th part 5: the new beginning.
I am in the F13 minority. I think Part I was boring as hell until Mrs. Voorhees showed up. Part VIII is great because it got Jason out of the woods and is not his true defeat. I believe the New Line movies are canon without prejudice and that Jason is dead-dead-deadski at the end of X.
Roy doesn't get enough credit for not breaking character, considering how much damage he takes during the movie. He doesn't scream in pain, he just takes it like how a hockey mask wearing super zombie would.
5:08 Its strange that the first film is meant to be 'Death At Random but Certain' to being morality plays. Jason goes after the sins of those that lead to his death in basically all the sequels.
Great team work from my favorite horror channel. I was born in 75 so I grew up with the paramount era. This was my favorite slasher series growing up and it still is. Thanks for the video guys.
I watched all these videos when they were released individually, and now I watched this entire thing.. Wtf is wrong with me? F13 is one of my childhood memories that sticks with me like a spear to the chest..
F13th is literally a ripoff of Halloween (the creators have even said it) but it’s still a better franchise than Halloween. Jason will always be the GOAT. Although I know a lot of people seem to love Kane Hodder I think he’s overrated and his movies are the worst of the franchise! (JTM, JGTH and JX are garbage- TNB is his only half decent movie) I really loved FvsJ and the 2009 reboot.
Paramount best to worst- 4,2,3,1,5,6,7,8. At least today. 1,5 and 6 could change depending on my mood. 7 and 8 are dogs dinners but I think I like them better than the new line ones.
That's so crazy to think that a man turned down playing a horror movie legend because he didn't have a ride, my fuckin ass would be hitchhiking without second thought, or take a fucking bus, what missed opportunity
it's not really a continuity problem on "jason was cremated" or at least not close to other real issues this series has had already, one politician didn't know the truth on that, it's even shown as doubted by the sheriff when the mayor says it right in part 5.
Friday the 13th part v,was an ok movie but without Jason it's just another movie, however it's better than Jason goes to hell, which also had no Jason and even worse you think by then and now if you're going to make a Friday the 13th, you'd think that Hollywood would have a clue and have Jason, because it's not Friday the 13th without Jason
Who cares about gene siskil or ebert they didn't know anything about movies when they said bad things about my movies i just hated them even more i think someone was paying them off gald there gone now they where such lairs
I hate the mpaa so much they should mind there own business like to meet them so I can tell him what I really think about them don't ever mess with my movies
Dominated the 80s due to mass releasing every year. Basically the franchise forced itself in. Too bad after the 80s were up the franchise doesn’t translate to modern day. Being hot for one decade isn’t that good of a track record. Jason is survived today through nostalgia. Good luck.
Being hot for a decade is a far greater achievement then so many that followed who couldn't remain hot after one sequel or less. The only reason it isn't a thing as of late is due entirely to the lawsuit between Miller and Cunningham.
Crazy Ralph “it has a death currrrrse” so underrated
Paramount Pictures cranked out F13 movies in the 1980's and I loved it. I saw most of the movies at the movie theater. What a fun decade.
Jesus Christ JOBLO a Two Hour Video That you made Awesome.
It's a compilation, but still... yay

Tommy jarvis was the worst part of the franchise. His “twist “ ending ruined part 4. He was a total dumbass in part 6.
@@JohnMac-w4fin all fairness, his boneheaded idea at the beginning of part 6 is the whole reason there’s a part 6.
@@JoshAintSoCool never followed through on part 5’s ending either

100% facts
Jason's always been the goat of slasher villains to me. 🔥
Friday the 13th series is like comfort food.
Yes very soothing 😌
Awesome Documentary! 😊
Woah 2 hours, I'm looking forward to this one. I got the Friday the 13th (2009) 4K from Arrow Video recentl, can't wait til I have some time to watch that too
Finally some appreciation for part 7!!! It’s always been my favorite!
Same here my friend! Always my favorite and now my 11 year old daughter loves it too!
I think Friday the 13th is a better franchise than Halloween it's more fun and entertaining to watch especially Jason Lives
This channel is easily one of the best on RUclips. Great job!

The thing is Paramount is an A-level studio, and despite the financial success, the Friday the 13th franchise is grindhouse fare.

There's something beautiful about the fact that jason is so well known that people watching the first movie get a reverse twist they don't see coming

I'm sorry, Roy over Corey!? Did you not SEE the kills in ends? As much as I like part five, The kills were weak as hell.
I'll die on this hill and alone, but I adore Jason Goes to Hell. 4 through 7 and 9 are far and away my most favorite Fridays.
I liked Jason X. Fans s..t on it so much but the kills were some of the best in the franchise and Uber-Jason was an amazing design.

@boomstickcritique902 agreed
2 hour video!!! Yes please
I could not be happier with this.
The first one has such an interesting Behind Tue Scenes! Thank you!!
Many thanks JoBlo...
Part 6 is still the greatest frankenstein film of all time. Fight me.
Awesome documentary! Unfortunately the background music is so loud and distracting it makes it impossible to watch. 👎🏻

The birth of the slasher

Producers on part 5 cut corners at every turn… except on the c0caine. lol.
Ironically enough the same could be said for Halloween 5
How'd ya'll get Norm Mcdonald on the narration?
Right?!

I love friday the 13th 1to 8 there the best my favorites are 6 ,4,2,7,8 part 6 is so amazing I love Jason's weapons tool belt knife 🔪 tent pegs
Need to bring back the fun & charm of 6-8
Jason is so scary!
My fave killer.
Has anybody ever told you that you sound like Norm MacDonald doing a news report? Wait, are you secretly Norm McDonald?

Derek Mears is the man, I agree. Holdder is like if WWE hired a wrestler to be Jason in the royal rumble or something. I agree, overrated

everybody knows part 6 is the best. and only taylor should do wtf videos.
1:04:23 Well, thanks a lot, Stephen 😑
Jason used the buck 101 way before Ghostface

The first 4 films are classic. After that it just becomes a race to the bottom.
this video's got a death curse
Chapter 4 is so overrated I really don’t get why it’s a favourite

Siskel sounds like a b-
A real wet blanket 🙄
Would anyone like 2 see Jason Voorhees in a foreign, like do some damage & be an anti-hero.
Friday the 13th final chapter was the best thats just my opinion
Hate to tell you this but Halloween started the slasher franchise.
The fact that some no talent wish they were but never could be;Like siskel and ebert. To be giving out betsy palmer's personal address is disgusting.
