some people may consider Max Payne 3 as the black sheep of the series, but I always see it as a new perspective on the beloved character, the glitchy cutscenes is now as iconic as the graphic novels.
Max is completely different from who he was in the first two games, he acts and looks like John McClane, the game lacks anything that made the first two games unique and the unskippable cutscenes killed it. It's a good 3rd person shooter, but bad Max Payne game. PS Max kills people for even hitting another woman and in the 3rd one he just let Serrano walk away after that dude In cold blood kill a girl in the head bc he wanted to act tough...yeah same Max my аss
@@emulation2369 serano had been beaten the shit outta him relentlessly and several times just for looking them the wrong way, he had some of his organs harvested and was kept alive because there were more to harvest and because it was inconvenient for the doctor to do it all at once, max couldn't have put serano in a worse fate, plus his entire gang was disbanded/killed/arrested/harvested, so he literally left him alive utterly broken, unable for anything, let alone gather up more people after what happened in the favela and make any kinda plans, IF his body could cope any more with anything after whatever they harvested from him. removing an organ when you dont give a fuck about the patient means you dont care about his survival after the surgery....
While i do feel both has some similarities, they're at least still felt distinct I do love both, esp Dog Days. The raw and unfiltered vibe is some of the most unique stuff in video game. Not to mention that it was made "intentionally" to be a bad ugly game.
Fun fact: Max Payne 3 was originally going to be made by Rockstar Vienna and be set in Russia. This was changed when Rockstar shut down Rockstar Vienna in 2006.
Max Payne in russia would be a banger. Strange that they moved from that idea, as the country has same social problems as Brazil to build a story around. Plus many fans complained that the game became to sunny and bright, which wouldn’t be a thing with russian setting
@@SilentSnake1998it was Rockstar that made the gameplay so good though. Remedy isn’t the best at that. The combat in Alan Wake 2/Control is pretty mediocre
@@jacobross735 Nah, there’s a difference. Alan Wake is a horror game, not an action game. Plus, remedy did Max Payne 1 & 2, with 2’s gunplay being so good that fans have genuinely argued that it could stand with Max Payne 3’s mechanics. Plus, rockstar will be partnered with them again, so it’s gonna be heat no matter what.
During the lead-up to this game, all the trailers / marketing etc. got bombarded with comments like "Nobody cares about this trash! We Want GTA 5!" and look what happened. And people wonder why Rockstar don't make anything else anymore.
Every month the channel GTA Series Videos releases the monthly bonuses for RDR2. Half of the comments under those posts are always like the ones you mentioned, so yeah Rockstar fans never changed even after so many years. I can see why Rockstar focuses on GTA now and even stopped updating RDOnline
@@rono7964GTA V shooting felt like shooting nerf guns. I had my expectation high with GTA V's gunplay because of Max Payne 3. Having Michael a bullet time ability cemented that only to have it feel so clunky.
Well gta is one of the biggest franchises ever. Max Payne in comparison has way less fans. I love max Payne but it shouldn't be a surprise that people were commenting demanding gta 5.
Disappointment or not, this is by and large the greatest end to a trilogy that I think gaming will ever get to see. Wish to god it got the remaster treatment😔
Fuck off is it. Bro you need to play more games if you think that. Halo 3 holds that title (that's right. 3 was actually the end to the trilogy. 343 and Microsoft bastardised the series by making 4 onwards)
Honestly, John Wick gave me huge Max Payne 3 vibes when it came out - the music, the shooting, the depressed scared main protag looking to bury the past and soo on
@@32BitJunkiehonestly I think it was sort of a reference that Max used to be a cop and he wants to redeem himself but never really does until the very end
@@MajinVegeta-t2h If you get to choose between The Last of Us 3 or GTA 6. Which one would you pick? You can't fight GTA in anyway. Rockstar spends hundred of millions to perfect the game in like 5 or 10 years. You're gonna lose the sales to GTA no matter what. What happened with Max Payne 3 is it got delayed for a year or two until it got released with GTA 5 (Rockstar owns both franchises by the way). I don't know what's the reason for the delay, but it happened and again, no game can fight GTA. So here is your answer to the sales. P.S. if you pay attention, some mechanics in GTA 5 are taken from Max Payne 3. Like the flashing screen when you kill and Michael's bullet time ability.
Max Payne 3 is one of the rare cases when the sequel deviates a little bit from the original formula but is still so so good. Disappointing that it didn’t sell well. I think a remaster would be popular, almost nothing like this on the market nowadays.
Still, it's nice that they ended the series instead of leaving a cliffhanger so even if the game financially failed, the players are still satisfied. Besides, rockstar games definitely made than enough money from their new releases and the fact the max Payne RUclips channel still sometimes post means they didn't entirely forget the series. In GTA V, Max is referenced quite a lot.
Max Payne 3 is a great game. High on realism, brutal gun fights which the cinematic cutsenes provide much needed breather with occasional comedy one liners Completely linear, no upgrades a great antidote to traipsing about an open world. Play it now
And I'm afraid of the remake because of that... With the explosions, the broken windows, the physic of the sets, more sophisticated gameplay mechanics... I don't understand why the remake doesn't have a bigger budget... 70M is not enough and i expected more than 100M
@@comicsamsthegreat Yeah, 70m are more than the budget for Alan Wake 2, and that has some of the best production value und presentation you can find. So I'm 0,0 worried about the remakes
I swear no one understands the jump from the 2nd game to the 3rd, here's a quote from MP2. "The genius of the hole: It doesn't matter how long you spend climbing out, you can still fall back down in an instant." The man is literally in despair in MP3 trying to find a way out.
Yeah, but the quote that stuck out to people was "I had a dream of my wife. She was dead. But it was all right.", which felt very conclusive. Rockstar clearly respected the series and tried to do good by it without just rehashing it, but obviously, both change and sticking too much to the formula would've upset fans after 9 years, so this was inevitable.
Well those people don't understand the unfortunate cycle of substance abuse and depression. If they did it wouldn't be surprising to see Max where he is at the start of 3. A loner who's only left with his failures trying to find a new direction.
The truth was like a green crack through my brain. Weapon statistics floating in the air, glimpsed out of the corner of my eye. the repetitious act of shooting, time slowing down to show off my moves. The paranoid feeling of someone controlling my every step. I was in a computer game. Funny as Hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of.
Story wise, not so much I agree. However, I do like the fact that Max FINALLY moved on and found peace. Gameplay wise, it's one of the best if not the best gunfighting games I've encountered and that's a almost a 13 years old game and none of the newer games gives you that bad ass fighting style. Quantum Break might be the closest thing to Max Payne 3 (bullet time mechanic wise), however the game doesn't feel realistic and it's missing the bad ass shoot dodge mechanic.
I disagree with the naysayers. This game was gold and horrendously undersold. It’s a crime we’ll probably never get another. Edit: I know we’re getting the remakes, but damn I want a sequel.
To be honest, I did not love max Payne 3 but as a brazilian who actually lives in one of the largest favelas in São Paulo, I can't explain how cool it is to see your place represented in a AAA game so I really enjoyed my time with the game.
I went back to it after a few years and I really enjoyed it. It explored a part of Brazil that I hadn't really thought about before, along with Elite Squad it kind of made me think about how bad it is there in some places. It's still a beautiful country and I'd like to visit, but I don't think I would fare as well as Max did in some of the grittier parts, lol
@@mungologgo5526 I personally believe that in São Paulo you probably will do just fine, especially if you have a friend to show the place to you. Cannot say that to other States, though.

Finally someone pointed at how good this game is. As a fan of the first two games for more than 23 years, I always said that MP3 was a real masterpiece. Music, storytelling, script, environment, depression, dark realism, and gameplay. I can't remember any other game that had the same qualities together.

The fact they even CONSIDERED doing two without James McCaffrey is absolutely ridiculous. So many companies do this. I’m sure it’s like a budget thing but, come on. Sam Fisher anyone?
Hideo Kojima not bringing back David Hayter in Metal Gear Solid 5 as Big Boss and Venom Snake was a bad decision similar to that. Good thing Rockstar did bring James McCaffrey back.
As much as I still loved Blacklist, Sam Fisher suddenly being voiced by someone who sounded as young as his daughter was so bad I believe it had a negative effect on the story as a whole. The gameplay was 🔥 though
Not only did we say goodbye to James McCaffrey when he passed away, we also said goodbye to Max Payne and every other characters he's playing in the other remedy games. Rest in peace mate, we'll all miss you the most.
His legend lives on in the work he blessed us by doing. He was such a genius to choose being a video game actor. He insured himself a heritage that will never die or grow old.
I love what the distortion in Max Payne 3 represents. It's Max's broken heart trying to heal, while his mind is continuing to figure out whether he wants to set his life straight.Or be consumed with madness anyone that has ever had anxiety knows that feeling. "My heart was telling me that the nightmare was over, unfortunately i had to relive it again" In Max's voice. Looking forward to the remakes, great video alex
The fact is, it's a different guy, it's a different Max. Max in MP 1 and 2 was basically Steven Wright. He was a poet, and he was a comedian, he wasn't actually depressed, let alone being crippled down by his depression. He was expressing his sad mood by droning on saying noirish sounding prose in a pleasant monotone voice, but he always quipped jokes at the same time, and they were great jokes. The villains were silly and cartoony, too. Those were two comedic games in a noir dressing, and that's why people had such an easy time loving them, people love comedy. Now, Max in MP3 is some another guy altogether, and that game is decidedly not comedic anymore, and yeah, maybe hangover distortions fit this guy's whole shtick of trying to get to the place of calm and humor, but Max in Remedy's games had already been there since the start. It's just unfortunate we all had to comb through the confusion for the bullshit business and marketing reasons, don't you agree? They could make this Max Payne black while at it, make the whole project more mythological, and open up possibility for more new artistic spins of this mythological hero in the future. But there's this number "3" in the title that indicates we're dealing with a direct continuation, and they're a total tonal mismatch.
Can it be called a game when you are forced to watch an unskibbale cutscene every 10 steps you take? I had to uninstall it cause it was simply the most irritating thing I ever "played" so if the gunplay was really some of the best ever made for a videogame, I never had the chance to find out
This game also had a criminally underrated multiplayer that had me hooked as my primary online multiplayer game at the time that managed to have implemented the bullet time gameplay surprisingly well. It had cool maps, customizable faction player models with unlockable cosmetics. And there was dlc packs made for the multiplayer where one of them included a coop mode where u played as Max and Passos fighting off waves of the mob
Maan I loved the multiplayer as well. I didnt think I would enjoy Max Payne 3 as much as I did. I even ended up with this giant max payne 3 display from one of my jobs when rdr 2 came out. 😂
The glitching animations gives me a look at max’s mind. Broken and fragmented. He is narrating the story until the very end so it gives a feel of he is telling how it all went, like his mind doesn’t want to remember all that. At the end he stops narrating and the skies become clear. Story wise if we compare it to stuff that we are getting nowadays, it’s a damn masterpiece. The Mechanics of the game is perfect. Music, chef’s kiss. There is no black sheep in the Max payne family, everyone is perfect.
@@AchiragChiragg It doesnt matter, it got overshadowed by the hype of gta 5 and more mainstreamline games at the time. They obviously didn't expect it to be as profitable as gta but that wasn't the point, they had the financial freedom to pursue the games they wanted to make

Max Payne 3 was a very underrated game. The voice of Max Payne James McCaffrey is an always will be the goat. I wish there was an updated for the Xbox and the PlayStation series. Brand new version of it
RIP James. I cried when he passed away. I've installed and deleted so many games on my PC. But one game is never removed and that's MAX PAYNE 3. I never get tried of replaying it and it's a shame it didn't sell well. People don't appreciate a good linear shooter anymore; all they want is openworld, openworld & openworld.
Max Payne 3 is a masterpiece. The airport scene with the music is one of those extremely rare moments in games that just hit. The story, while packed full of action, is incredibly human and a story about self-forgiveness, redemption and acceptance.
I was one of those dudes that hated the direction this game took before release but after playing bloody loved the fact they did so, drastically changing up the setting and to a lesser extent the tone made sure this game expanded upon the story, created new scenarios and couldn't be compared to the previous two games so directly. I loved the way they kept the comic panel vignettes, updating the implementation while keeping a similar vibe. You're god damn right about those shooting mechanics because they're near perfection. This game is the prime reason I now give anything a go despite first impressions.
I'm Brazilian and I live in Sao Paulo, and to be honest, the representation of the city in the game is not far from reality, in some moments you can see that an American actor is dubbing in Portuguese because of the accent, but other than that , the slang, culture, violence and dirt of the favelas is very accurate for me. Many things like cheap prostitution, aversion to foreigners in the city, random shootings in favelas and the adoration for soccer, are exactly the same as reality. To be honest, it's kind of ironic that I love this representation in the game. To complement, if anyone liked the game's setting, I recommend the film "Tropa de Elite", it represents very well the real UFE (BOPE in real life) and the wars in the favelas and corruption.
I think the Max Payne trilogy is a unique case for the industry. Not all parts were perfect and each has its own shortcomings, but all the same they continue to hold the interest of fans even now. I went through the entire trilogy literally a year ago and the emotions were mostly positive, despite the fact that I have my own problems with Max Payne 3, the game works great in terms of gameplay and the game is still excellent and it doesn't need a remake, unlike the previous two, which really need polishing because a lot of time has passed. I hope Remedy will cope with this task before Alan Wake 3 and Control 2. They're doing something that I think is going to be quite challenging and not everyone will like it. And for some reason I believe in Sam Lake even though I'm not a big fan of Alan Wake 2.
Max Payne 2 was like an Opera piece. It was very immersive and I probably replayed the game about 50 times over the years. Between childhood friends we've been saying "Max! Dearest of all my friends" in Vlad's voice for almost 2 decades now. My expectations for Max Payne 3 were very low. It was better than I expected but failed to recreate the amazing atmosphere of Max Payne 1 and 2.
I think many look back at the first two with rose colored glasses tbh. I played the third one first also and was very disappointed going back playing the first two after hearing those were “so much better”.
@@cosmonauthal7651 And the first 2 are way better tbf, i only played max payne 1 when i was 15 and played the fall of max 6 years later then played third and hated it and deleted it. And i still have Max payne 1&2 on my pc.
@@cosmonauthal7651Not at all - the first two just have more profound writing, and capture the essence of what the character was intended to be. Max Payne 3 is better for the combat, nobody is denying that, but the first two capture the Neo-noir theme they were going for perfectly. MP3 exchanged that for more flashy and bombastic shootouts, an odd choice of story, and a frankly overly depressed Max. I still think it's a fantastic game, but Max Payne 1 & 2 just hold something special that the third game lost. It's not "Rose Tinted glasses" if many of us still enjoy the games today. MP2 was my first entry into the series, but the first game is still by far my favourite - my favourite 3rd person shooter of all time in fact.
@@rjayyyy9623 I disagree I found the writing in the first two a little cartoonish and Max a better character in 3. I just didn't "get" the first two but I'm glad you enjoyed them I mean it. Before the game came out, rockstar had an online competition. I won one of the spots in the competition and got to have my face put in the game as a multiplayer character
max payne 1 was life changing for me as a kid max payne 2 was one of the first games to make me cry and introduced me to Poets of the Fall but max payne 3 still might be my favorite of the trilogy. it's beautiful, dark, incredible to play. there'll never be another game series quite like max payne, and 3 especially
The first thing I remember about my experience of playing Max Payne 3, is the face that you can't skip any of the cut scenes. That's the one thing I'd change about it.
Glad you pointed out the Guaraná soda, I have seen enough people criticizing the story because they believe Max was drinking a beer in the end, despite the fact they you see Guaraná soda bottles and vending machines along the whole game
I had a love hate relationship with Max Payne 3. I was so enthralled with Max Payne 1 and 2’s storytelling and depiction of NYC, and then Max Payne 3 came out and it felt superb while alienating at the same time. I loved the flashback missions because it reminded me of the previous games so much that I wanted it to stay there forever with Max wearing his trademark black leather trench coat gunning down mobsters in New York or in this case New Jersey. I couldn’t even focus on the story of MP3 because I was so “home sick” of the previous games that I couldn’t appreciate its art and direction until years later.
The greatest thing imo about mp3 is the they changed the look of max to resemble his voice actor, a name we all know, James mccaffery. If anything it’s a great credit to his role as max for so long and honestly it’s the definitive face of max to me.
lol fans are so stupid to complain about Max's face changing. He had an extremely stressful life and everyone naturally gets old, no shit he won't have the smug grin in his face anymore.
@@adambrande idc if people complain but this time his face is really James face and it’s a great homage looking back. Not Sam lake or some other dude. He’ll always be max now.
Okay, this is gonna be controversial but I like the story in Max Payne 3 the most. I like the depressed and alcoholic potrayal of Max because first his family is taken away from him and later when he is starting to move on and hopes to have a future with Mona, she is killed as well (that too because of someone he used to know as a friend). That sort of stuff would hit someone so hard considering Max had a near perfect life (as he states in the opening of the first game, he had a wife, child, house looking over to the Jersey side & a job that he loved). A non-US setting also works since no one would like to stay in a city (or country for that matter) in which they have nothing but painful memories.
Even though this series might’ve been a failure financially but it’ll forever have a special place in my heart. It’s a great trilogy with a perfect ending and that’s all I could ever ask for.
@@rjayyyy9623 The first one was but apparently the second didn't sell as much as the first, I can't remember how much exactly so take this with a grain of salt but I think they sold less than half than the first one made which is why Rockstar ultimately considered it a failure but clearly saw potential in the series to make a third game (sad that it didn't sell as much either). Regardless I'm just glad Remedy is still making games, they're such talented devs and I'm hella excited for the remakes by Remedy and Rockstar. What do you think about the remakes coming out?
The glitchy-chromatic abberation effect is a direct tribute to 2004s 'Man on Fire' starring Denzel Washington, a movie that directly inspired this game thematically (both crime thrillers set in Brazil and deal with human trafficking) and in terms of visually design. Denzel's character is the real blue print for Max's depression arc in the game. Tony Scott used a similar editing style with filters to convey the momentum and violence, it was considered experimental for its time. This is pretty well known and I'm disappointed you didn't even talk about how much influence this movie has had on this game, considering you mentioned doing 2 months of research for this video
Really glad you mentioned this. I really liked "Man on Fire" and when I eventually played Max Payne 3, I loved the homage that it made to that film just because of how interesting it was stylistically.
Idc what people say, max Payne will always be in my heart, it's one of the best games out there, max Payne 3s combat outshines any game even in today's standards it's considered a god, max Payne might be done, but I'll never stop loving this game, max Payne 3 was the last, now every other max Payne will just be max Payne named but really a cash grab like the remake, it's obviously cus rockstar cannot extend the story, they'll just do this and reboot the series, well after Sony successfully made a masterpiece of a god of war reboot, I have good faith in rockstar for a good max Payne reboot
What blew my mind playing MP1 was when you paused the game you can actually see all the mechanics of the guns in action, i.e. the slide pulled back, muzzle flash, empty cartridge flying out of the gun. No other game did that and we are talking PS2 era here.
Max Payne 3 was perhaps the greatest 3rd shooter of all time in terms of gameplay and mechanics, but it was just not a Max Payne game. the athmosphere didnt fit Max Payne's classic noir style, story was very weak, characters were unforgettable, game was full of cutscenes. I think it would be a masterpiece if it was released a brand new franchise, like a crime/gang story in Brazil or something
Fun fact: The engine animation @6:15 is a 6.2 liter V8 with a 1.9 liter supercharger. LSA engine from a Cadillac CTS-V 09-15 (I own one, PHENOMENAL car), and 5th gen Camaro ZL1. I also stuffed it into a Nissan z32 and Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Possibly the only thing I love more than gaming is cars. Close. GREAT VIDEO 😁😅
Remember working on this - loved every second. Still boot it up on occasion for a cheeky bit of bullet-time fun. Excited to see what Remedy do with the remakes of 1 & 2 but will miss the timbre and talent of James McCaffrey - may the legend rest in peace.
God bless you , i bought this game 1 month after the release date , and i can't explain how much fun i had with that game , the story mode was sick , the Platinum trophy was quite difficult and the multiplayer was almost perfect , congrats for working on such a legendary title like Max Payne 3 !
I love this series to death one of the best games off all time for me personally. I can resnoate with max so much and the depressing tone since i had depression for over 8 years now. But the gameplay is the best shooting in third person games ever not even today someone came close to that. And R.I.P James McCaffrey his voice delivery etc is what made resonate so much with the the character he is Max Payne. I hope the remaster will be good since i put countless hours in all games and cant wait until the games come out. Ty for this essay it was very good and helps this absolute masterpiece of a series thats sadly more unknown today to get more reach to new players
I loved 3 just as much as the first two. I could go on and on about how much I love the story, but one thing that is the most memorable for me is the soundtrack and the scores that were done. I actually credit Max Payne 3 with introducing me to Brazilian hip-hop. The song by Emicida "Sorriso Favela" still gives me chills whenever I hear it because it always reinforced the notion that Max was truly a long way from home and felt so out of place, but he knew he had to fix the situation no matter how fucked up it was. Don't even get me started on Health. Phenomenal band and it's because of the game that I remain such a big fan to this day.
17:17 "Oh, look at that... me, staring back from behind another veil of digital smoke and mirrors. Another identity forged in the fire of ones and zeroes, a shadow cast by the glow of a flickering screen. Funny how you can see yourself, yet still feel like a stranger."
A lot of good games released in 2012 so that didn't helped I imagine. Same thing happened with Titanfall 2, it was a good game and everyone liked it but it was incredibly underrated since it was released inbetween COD's and BF's new titles.
@@varvarvarvarvarvar That's definitely not the reason, that doesn't even happen until halfway through the game. It was most likely a combination of angry old fans that didn't like change and "Rockstar" fans that only cared about the billionth GTA title.
Its due to rdr2 being built around garbage auto aim. A mechanic that needs to be trashed. It's been proven that people can learn to shoot without training wheels. Look at Fortnite. Kids love it. So it proves that gamers don't need their hands held.
@@ldking5132 Fortnite wasn't the game to popularise it though. Auto aim has been around for over two decades now. Red Dead 1 for example with auto aim enabled makes the game a cakewalk, or even look at games like Goldeneye 64. It's been a mechanic for ages now.
Free aim with a controller is so awkward without gyro support. I'd rather have auto aim and feel like a skilled gunslinger than have to deal with aiming with a joystick and getting shot 10 before I land one.
it's not terrible. Plus, It's because RDR2 is focused on immersive story driven narrative, exploration driven, large open world game 'FIRST' & a third person shooter 'SECOND', just like gta 5. Rockstar didn't focus on the shooting in rdr2 because it's not needed (it's a story driven open world game and not a max payne-like third person shooter), also rdr2's gunplay isn't that different from max payne 3. So basically, rockstar 'had to' to make max payne 3's shooting feel as good as possible 'for a third person shooter focused game' because that's all you'll be doing in the extremely linear 10-11 hours game.
Max Payne 3 is ridiculously underrated. It's still the best game of it's kind. I didn't like it on release either, but I bought it second hand many yrs later and realized how wrong I totally was, It is a total masterpiece.
I’ll never forget booting up Max Payne 1 on the PC only to find that a lot of the audio (specifically the narration which is a huge part of the game) didn’t play and I was just laughing at how different the experience is without the monologue aspect
Max Payne 3 is a great video game but not a great Max Payne video game, it’s like they forgot the best one in the trilogy (2) and how Max said he was going to chase self improvement and moving on from the ghost of his wife, his baby, his dame, the familes and life he could never have to enjoy and live a fulfilling life. Max Payne 3 just throws it away and punches in the smell of Rockstar game and he looses all of it. Even then I feel that Max Payne 3 is not as special as the first two because the game is loaded and tinted with the trends of it’s contemporaries, Max Payne 1-2 were amazing because they were thinking outside of the box even with critical limitations.

P.S. if you pay attention, some mechanics in GTA 5 are taken from Max Payne 3.
Yeah, but the quote that stuck out to people was "I had a dream of my wife. She was dead. But it was all right.", which felt very conclusive.

Max Payne 3 fucking ROCKED man, and I say that as a MP1/2 fan!
@@adambrande People just loved the iconic grin, but the face changed in every game, so in that sense it's consistent.
A non-US setting also works since no one would like to stay in a city (or country for that matter) in which they have nothing but painful memories.
ew, ngl 3 had the worst story of the three.
man the music in the airport... was so sic, will never forget this one
19:25 That's not a non-alcoholic beer... it's a popular Brazilian soda. And it F'ing rocks.
No shooter has ever made me feel so badass as Max Payne 3.
Max Payne 3 is an absolute masterpiece, and the airport shootout scene is one of the all time greatest moments in gaming history.
mastepriece? Hahahahahahhahaha awwww you little boy, go back to bed and your mommy to be quiet
Even though this series might’ve been a failure financially but it’ll forever have a special place in my heart. It’s a great trilogy with a perfect ending and that’s all I could ever ask for.
The first two were fairly successful games and are the reason that Remedy are what they are today.
Rockstar just sucks at managing money. You don't need 105 million to make a good game
I find Sam Lake so endearing. He genuinely loved what he makes
MP3 is just Man on Fire - The game.
I'll probably get flamed but this, but the Last of us 2 also has some of the best combat I've seen, and Helldivers 2.
@@someguy8951 ik, sadly not on pc, i was thinking to play TLOU 1 but then i deviated and downloaded re village
This series is so incredible, I'm thrilled to hear that remedy is remaking the first two. Great video and editing, kept me engaged!
8:57 "evolved" and then shows uncharted LOL
What blew my mind playing MP1 was when you paused the game you can actually see all the mechanics of the guns in action, i.e. the slide pulled back, muzzle flash, empty cartridge flying out of the gun. No other game did that and we are talking PS2 era here.
“Maximus Paine” the Max Payne reboot, featuring a new protagonist with a similar name, but different story.
15:55 Health ❤ 🎶 highly recommend!!
Fun fact:
The engine animation @6:15 is a 6.2 liter V8 with a 1.9 liter supercharger.
I used to LOVE playing this back in the day
Remember working on this - loved every second.
Max Payne 3 really was a great end to the series and it was awesome (I even bought the game on pc just to play it again)
I recently played Max Payne 3 and honestly, I really loved it. The story is much darker and grittier but the gameplay is really fun!
The first thing that came to my mind when i heard “Sam Lake” was immediately “SAM LAKE YOU HACK”
Bricky living rent free and thats both funny an bit concerning!
17:17 "Oh, look at that... me, staring back from behind another veil of digital smoke and mirrors. Another identity forged in the fire of ones and zeroes, a shadow cast by the glow of a flickering screen. Funny how you can see yourself, yet still feel like a stranger."
Max payne being a massive critic and public success but the sales being dogshit has to be one of the biggest mysteries of the world
Not really. Story-driven games that feature young attractive women having their head shot in a cutscene generally don't sell like hot cakes.
Funnily enough, seeing Sam Lake irl might be more uncanny than seeing his face in Remedy’s games
It's baffling that Rockstar made Max Payne 3 with some of the best shooting I've ever played in a game, yet somehow made it feel so terrible in RDR2
RDR2 is a slower take on tps. Arthur is not meant to be Payne
I loved MP3 but I think the first 2 were better. Well the story. Loved the gameplay mechanics in 3
That airport sequence was literally i am not locked in here, you are locked in here with me. And then the beat drops. Maxpayne 3 is goated
Max Payne 3 is ridiculously underrated.
It's still the best game of it's kind.
I didn't like it on release either, but I bought it second hand many yrs later and realized how wrong I totally was,
It is a total masterpiece.
you are wrong tho, it's mediocre, little boy
@@mihaimercenarul7467 little boy?
Fitting upload as brazil just banned Twitter today
Remember, kids....
One man's trash is another's
treasure.
This is one of my absolute favorite games.
