    Don't forget how AMC went balls deep into NFTs, further souring the brand. There was even a "blockchain-based" junk heap of an isometric survival game called Empires that went as well as you'd expect. You couldn't play as any of the main characters unless you bought a $100 jpeg of them. The Walking Dead as a reputable franchise is dead because AMC couldn't resist milking it at every opportunity.

      Not every brand has done NFTs, just like not every celebrity did crypto endorsements. The brands that did NFTs were the money hungry ones or the clueless ones. AMC also did way more then just drop some NFTs, they sold an NFT game too.
      And from what I can see, DC is probably trying to salvage profits from what they got themselves into. There's like...NO news about the DC NFTs. So it's not like they're doing it because it's a massive hit.

    The worst part about kenny in season 2 is that every single one of his reactions are considered this great evil and everyone reacts like he's this horrible person, but then consistently kenny is just having very normal reactions to things. Like when his wife dies he secludes himself in a tent and everyone is like "oh boy kenny is really crazy now" but then when you visit him he's just sulking and grieving over the loss of his wife and he quickly gets back up when clementine shows up, it's like the writers simultaneously wanted kenny to be this horrible person but at the same time their idea of horrible was just very normal and healthy reactions to things.
    Then at the end jane pretends to kill the baby after trying to actively harm kenny all of this time and to no surprise kenny treats her like a baby murderer, she actively poked the bear and was surprised when the bear fought back, but there was no option to shoot jane, only kenny. If someone harms your baby you're going to do something drastic no matter how sane you are, because that's the non-psychopathic reaction to losing your baby.

    • @_indigo_inked
      @_indigo_inked 8 месяцев назад +22

      Alright, but to be fair bro, he was actively making himself a danger. In season 2 he raises his voice at Sarita when she disagrees with him on minor things, actively chooses to torture Carver, and beats up Arvo multiple times when he’s a kid that lost his sister as a result of our group stealing medicine.
      Kenny is the character that always uses extreme force when faced with an issue. We gotta admit that flying into rages and showing that level of brutality can get dangerous when survival depends on building bonds and trust.
      He was always good guy at heart. A fucking ride or die for his family and Clementine; however, his mental state just kept fracturing and it wasn’t good for the long term. He needed help processing things, and he just couldn’t get that considering his only support left standing is an 11 year old kid.
      I think his reactions and break down were very realistic because holy shit this guy goes through it, but it wasn’t safe. Realistic also doesn’t mean it’s how everyone would respond, letting things go and being very logical is also a realistic response in the other direction. The way Kenny goes to the darkest option is certainly not how a mentally stable person would respond to some of the situations. We can tell by how the others were genuinely scared of him. It’s fair that they worried they would get caught up when Kenny becomes a liability.
      A real sad story considering the people around him didn’t have the context to know this wasn’t Kenny’s baseline. He wasn’t a piece of shit before the Walkers. He had crazy trauma and since he didnt trauma dump on these strangers, they just didn’t know that there was a more stable Kenny in the past.

    • @JeanneHamada
      @JeanneHamada 7 месяцев назад +48

      @@_indigo_inked I kinda disagree with that first paragraph. Carver did maimed Kenny to the point that he is blinded, and I'll be shocked if his reaction to seeing Carver on the floor isn't to attack this very man who in the same week has took his sight away.
      On the other hand, Arvo is probably the person who stole the medicine or atleast smuggled it out because he will still blame you regardless if you took it or not, putting you as the black sheep. Arvo isn't a trustworthy guy no matter what and I think Kenny see through Arvo's facade of a weak and scared man, which is why he isn't having it easy.

    • @Kek393
      @Kek393 7 месяцев назад +33

      @@_indigo_inked Arvo literally got half of the group killed regardless if you let him keep the medicine or not. He's constantly antagonistic, refuses to cooperate and is an active danger to the group. The fact that Kenny was seen as the bad guy for wanting to get rid of a literal walking danger to the group was ridiculous. Especially since when Kenny was fixing the truck they were sucking him off and using his good nature and trust for their own gain.
      Carver was a horrible human being and deserved everything he got. Kenny clearly had a lot of pent up anger so at the very least he got rid of it by bashing a horrible man's head in.
      Yes, he shouldn't raise his voice at Sarita but at the same time Season 2 constantly showed most of the adult cast as useless, which means Kenny was completely right in his constant need to keep Sarita safe in spite of her wishes.

    • @_indigo_inked
      @_indigo_inked 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@JeanneHamada Fair point on the Arvo thing! I don’t actually find him completely trustworthy, that kid hates us and we really don’t know him, I just see why other people would want Kenny to take it easier on the kid. Instead I feel like Arvo becomes a stronger outlet for Kenny’s rage because the guy’s life is falling apart.
      I also know that Carver is an evil piece of shit who hurt and brutalized Kenny. Buuuuut my point still stands that not everyone’s response to that is “let me torture this guy with my own hands now that he’s down.” Many others would just kill him without inflicting that same pain to vent their rage.
      Kenny chose a brutal revenge, and it was entirely optional. The group found it scary because it showed Kenny’s capacity for it and that he’s not the person to let something go or try to be the better person. That can be scary when you know this is a guy could decide that you’re the enemy next if you fuck up big enough.

    • @_indigo_inked
      @_indigo_inked 7 месяцев назад +4

      @@Kek393 No matter what Jane takes Arvo’s weapon and they hold him up, which Arvo’s group might be considering the robbery. No matter the choice, Arvo walks away without all of his things, which is dangerous in the apocalypse. If Arvo says “hey two people held me up and took my weapon” it does make sense for his group to go “fuck that we have more people, let’s go get it back.” It fucking sucks but yeah the Russian group is also doing survival shit as a response to perceived theft.
      Either way, hell yeah he’s antagonistic to our group! In his eyes, our group helped ruin his life by killing his sister and holding him hostage lol If you choose to be kind to him, he kinda sounds like he doesn’t want to be robbing you back anyway. Now he’s stuck in this situation and spends the rest of the time wanting to escape.
      As far as the sister turned Walker, he’s grieving and not going to acknowledge that his sister was already doomed. Kenny sure as hell doesn’t acknowledge when his loved ones got bitten.
      If you can see the humanity in Kenny I’ve got zero clue why you can’t see it in Arvo. Bro just lost his sister and now he has an angry white guy shouting racist stuff at him, obviously he literally hates us. It’s reasonable from his own pov.
      It’s less reasonable in my eyes for Kenny to continuously beat him. At one point Kenny calls Arvo a liar and starts beating him before realizing Arvo was telling the truth. People around Kenny are going to consider that lack of patience and quickness to violence scary as hell.
      Realistically, they either needed to let Arvo leave or kill that kid rather than dragging him around and beating him. They kept him with the group to lead them to supplies, but if the plan was to keep him alive, they did need to treat him nicer. He doesn’t do much to our group other than lure us to a bunch of people who wanted to take from us. Bonnie does something similar at one point too.
      Also I think he raises his voice at Sarita at one point about moving a box of decorations. Bro just has anger issues aside from the safety thing.

    And to think that in more recent years, Skybound did try to revive the Telltale Series but through DontNod (devs behind the Life is Strange series). Though ultimately due to the increasingly chaotic & toxic workplace environment within DontNod, Skybound winded up pulling the plug on the whole thing and went about their own business to start milking the Invincible series instead.

    I do think it's funny how the show had the cliffhanger, when the comic was already out and even people who didn't read it could probably just find it by googling "who does Neegan kill"
    Edit: Alright, yes I know the show and comic are different, I'm just saying the fact they dragged it out like everyone was gonna keep guessing was kinda dumb when viewers could just look up how it went in the comic and default their expectations to that. And yeah AMC didn't do their own twist on it, just went with Glenn cuz it was the straightforward route.
    Though it's worth noting that while the show did definitely change how some things went it still usually stuck to the same beats for things they did recreate from the comic directly. It's pretty obvious an adaptation is gonna be different from the source material, but I never got the vibe the show was ever willing to fully rewrite the basic plot from the original story unless it was specifically to account for something they were doing with their own ideas they pushed into it.
    Glenn was already being used to tease the audience with the idea of getting killed off as early as the first season so I think it's pretty clear they weren't gonna drastically change his story or shift his importance since he never got much else in the show up until that point. By that point in the story he had his role outlined for him and AMC had no real reason to deviate. And again since they don't usually change stuff from the comic "just cuz" they'd have no reason to do anything except what people who already knew were expecting them to. So yeah they shouldn't have dragged it out like it was a big deal, it really wasn't.

    • @dwightyboy5324

      I mean at the time it was kinda cool speculating at the time. Everyone was kinda wondering if they'd keep it the same and the lineup was really different. In the comics it was Rick, Carl, Maggie, Sophia, Glenn, and Heath. In the show a lot more characters were added, and since Abraham outlived his comic character it wasn't for certain. I definitely think it was a mistake to do that awful cliffhanger though.

    • @JewTube001

    You unlocked a lot of memories for me in this video, I was a telltale fan from the start of the walking dead season 1 and their strongsuit was always that point and click adventure style of gameplay, you got to unlock choices and make choices through those little explorable moments and that was a huge part of what made the walking dead season 1 so personal. Then at the end your group treated you differently based on how you treated them which tied every single choice you made into one big bow, so even if not siding with kenny was very impactful all the way back in episode 2, it would change how he saw you on episode 5.
    Then 400 days came around and I remember telltale devs actually told us that the people from it would have a major impact on the gameplay of season 2, even simulating the choices you made during 400 days to affect how they were in season 2.
    Then when season 2 began to be teased I remember a bunch of people were speculating what was going to happen, a lot of people were expecting lee to be alive or a zombie due to clementine aiming her gun slightly to the left when she shot him but that wasn't the case. Then when episode 1 of season 2 came out we got to speculate on all of those future episode teasers and what they meant, spoiler alert they actually meant next to nothing and some were so irrelevant that they had to change it, like carver was originally meant to be Troy until he was changed. The biggest problem though was that 400 days thing, the characters actually had 0 change no matter what choices you made, and they all acted exactly alike regardless which was basically the beginning of the end for fans. Another huge problem was the fact that if you could choose to save someone in season 2 that meant they were going to die regardless and would have a minimal role until then, people were waiting for nick to die and he eventually did but not before becoming a complete mute and not playing a role at all in the actual game until the time came for his death.
    Then season 2 ended and the devs were like "your clementine will drastically change how she is in season 3" and then all the kenny fans were hit with the worst death in history when he gets paralyzed through a car wreck, and it was just because they wanted to rope all endings back to a single point, so jane hangs herself, kenny dies, and she ends up being no different except with a missing finger, by that point everyone who didn't read the writing on the walls in season 2 checked out. (then I remember during episode 5's release they decided to make the thumbnail a major spoiler for a character death in the game, and it would've had much more of a negative impact if people didn't stop caring at that point).

    I watched the video till the end, I was considering getting the Telltale game, but saw the ending at the end of the vid, I tried to avoid as much as I could but it is already ingrained in my memory. I wanted to experience the game not knowing anything, now I don’t feel like getting the game at all 😭. Great Vid BTW

    Not only did we watch Clem grow up, but for fans like me who were kids when we started playing the game, we grew up with Clem. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Twd season 2 slander will not be tolerated. Staying at the farm put limitations on them. But limitations breed creativity

    The Telltale walking dead games are among my favourite video games ever. Season 1 is a masterpiece, Season 2 is worse but still pretty great and Wellington is an emotional ending where you have to go in without Kenny or stay with him. ANF’s death I found out by playing made me go to Wellington so Kenny is alive out there somewhere knowing he got Clem and AJ somewhere safe. ANF… is meh, Javier is decent and has great lines but I mostly care about Clem who is a side character who’s just a friend of Javi. TFS however? The final season? It got so close, so close to Season 1 and is legitimately a great game with story and characters I love. Seeing Clementine grown up just a couple years away from adulthood looking after AJ is great, their bond is great, seeing Clem grow to like-like someone of your choice and fight to protect her new friends and home and ultimately win in the end even if she nearly died to do it is just one hell of an ending. She lost half of her lower leg to being bitten to protect AJ and her friends but she made it, she can lead her new home and enjoy it and maybe just get a prosthetic someday to get back kicking if AJ finds that foot book. I cried, especially then but also for S1 and S2’s endings. It’s just a shame it was already too late for Telltale by the Final Season, they were depending on it and while it was a return to form in quality and fan reviews, it just wasn’t successful enough to save a Telltale who had recently learnt from their mistakes.
    To quote Kenny at the Wellington ending: “I’m real glad to have met you, Clementine.” She is my favourite video game character ever, no others got me as invested as she did.
    TWD games are a mixed bag but Telltale truely knew how to make them great and unforgettable. Guess there’s a reason they were the ones Skybound liked and helped out to the very end, getting back TFS’s dev team to finish it as the Still Not Bitten team after Telltale died half way through. So in a way Telltale didn’t die until the Final Season was over with the thank you and Clem’s hat as that’s when the people responsible for the game had finally finished it.
