  • So I apologize for posting the same video again but I got a full uncompressed copy from the guy who took the video so it's a much better quality video. So I'm reposting it.
As I said before, I've never been able to get a good video of the full set up of our house on Halloween night. But a shout out to Mark Van Wyk who came by our house and posted a GREAT video of everything.
It was a perfect night - clear skies. We gave out 1350 pieces of candy. Easily more than 1000 people.
    So here's my comments:
!. The first pumpkin guy - I posted about earlier this year when I asked for advice on building a motor assembly that moved 2 directions at the same time. the head is moving side-to-side and the arm is moving up and down. It worked - and didn't break.
    2. The singing pumpkins - I use 3 ft. blow up pumpkins and an animation DVD I bought 10 years ago that I edited down.
    3. The oversize leer ghost - it worked great. I did connect 2 bungee cords inside to pull against the head since it was kind of heavy. Everything balance out well.
    4. The graveyard - you can see the "bride and groom" are moving up and down. Same type of motor assembly - twine goes up through the tree and each body balances the other so it moves very smoothly.
    5. The graveyard - smoke, lighting, and the 7 props moving up and down and side to side.
    6. The spider cocoon - this one is somewhat hard to see. I use 2 red downlights and 2 strobe lights so its hard for a camera to see it all. 17 things moving off the same motor. Everything worked - no breakage.
    7. Spider-Man - Basically a "hangmans" prop. The cool thing is both Spider-Man and the body in the center of the cocoon run off a PicoBoo Jr - so there are pauses between the movements - makes it way more realistic.
    8. The headless guy - easy one-movement prop. I did need to add a counterbalance weight to the help pull the arm up.
    9. Last pumpkin guy - easy setup - the one motor moves both the head which is on a lazy-susan mount and the arms attached so all moves side to side.
All the props have speed controllers

fantastic set up, looks like the evening was a success. we use quite a few spiders throughout our small display and I've always wanted a designated spider area like yours. looks like that's another thing on my list for this year.

I Over Heard Is There A Projector For The Pumpkin

Yes - good catch. I don't think I've ever shown exactly how I do this. You can see that a car is parked in the middle of the driveway. I found an old dog crate that I put on top of the car. I bought a 1990s Sanyo In-Focus off Ebay for $60 ten years ago and it's still working. I cover the crated and the car with black visqueen so you can't see it. The projector goes in the dog crate. The wires are run up and over to the left where people can't walk. The night before Halloween I do all the set up. I have to move the car to position it right to fit the distance between the pumpkins. Usually about 20 feet back.
