  • I want to post this video showing the new motor I found. I couldn't slow the wiper motor down any lower than around 10-12 RPM with the PWM without the motor stalling. I spent probably 4+ hours searching on the Internet plus posting to forums and didn't get any feedback looking for options having high torque / low RPMs. So I'm thinking maybe other people are looking for something like this too.
So as I say in the video - I used a torque conversion chart and this motor has over 2X the rated torque of the wiper motors. This new motor I now have at around 5 RPM and can easily go slower if I want. It isn't slowing down at all.
So I purchased the motor at Amazon. Here's the description - High Torque DC 12V Reversible Geared Reducer DC Motor with 9RPM Speed 10mm Out Shaft. It was $65 - but as I added up the additional cost for a gear reduction or pulley system for the wiper motor I think it all came out about even.
I don't know yet how durable it will be but I'm not seeing any slowing down of the motor through the entire rotation so I'm hoping it lasts a long time.
Again, this is for all of you that may be like me - looking for a motor that has high torque and low RPM. One additional item - I ended up extending the arm off the motor another inch which let me The prop is now working exactly how I wanted !!!!!!

I wasn't really impressed with this prop as I followed your progress but it turned out fantastic! You have great vision.

thanks for the response. I agree - nothing much to start with. I try to do everything really low tech. Motors, PVC pipe and sometimes bungy cords. I enjoy the whole process because I really don't know exactly how it's going to turn out in the end. This one came out pretty good I think

Can you please provide a link to Amazon for the motor? I need one too for my projects. Thank you 👍🙏

Thanks - this is my best single prop so far. The motor is working great and the slot in the shaft which gives the pause also worked out well. I'm now trying to figure out how to get multiple movements out of my other props.

Could you show how you hooked up the sound and lights to the switch?

First look at the 3rd video of this series and it shows the first basic setup of the switch. Then look at the 4th video and it shows it completely wired for both the speakers and the LED lights inside the head. Let me know if you have any questions after that. Good luck
