Grimmer, a broken man with double personality who is trying to find his lost emotions.
Since the moment we first saw him, we saw him try his best to be a good man, bettering himself by helping others. This was a sincerely sad moment...
There's nothing sad about this moment. He did it, he found his way back to his diddly feelerino. It's triumphant even though he deserved better days ahead of him, many better days
@@Onigirli Yeah I tried to cry but I couldn't. I wanted to feel bad about him but my brain tells me that I'm just happy for him. Though I still teared up when he spoke about his son.
Does anyone know the name of the soundtrack played in this scene
He is very strong even strongest than Johan and Roberto because he fight with his monster that he was received with experiment in orphan 511 by being kind to humans. Meanwhile Johan and Roberto embrace their monsters side
They never got to have that picnic the next time they met :'(
And he never got to buy Lunge that beer :x
James Cai I thought it was Lunge that wanted to buy him a beer.
+David McGhee they did! you remember the scene in the last episode where Lunge, Suk and Vardemann visit Grimmer's grave and Lunge carries a beer..and places near it... ? it was a warm sun shine on the meadow..the rains have gone..Grimmer's death is a direct challenge to Johan's 'everyone is equal at death' notion.. Because, some people are so heroic in their lives that their death leaves them so high living in the close ones' hearts...So Grimmer did enjoy the beer Lunge brought him... the symbolism and the subtlety in which it is portrayed is unmatched by any other anime...
: (
@@CertifiedGenius007 don't make me cry again😭
The Finale Arc of Monster (last 7 eps).. nothing can top it. SO perfect, everything ties in together, every character, their backstory etc, it all relates and ties perfectly in a mindblowing way.
Never seen so much good characters in one anime truly a master piece
Lunge became my favorite tour the end
+Mr scar lunge was always my fav. eva and richard too
Inspector Spinda I didn't like him in the beginning because he Wouldn't leave Dr. Tenma even though he was innocent
***** But no one but the audience actually knew that
Inspector Spinda I understand but He's Dr
Fuck this guy was a good character.
Thanks to his unique character development + his desire to be humane. :)
Frenzy I recently finished the manga and his death made me both angry and upset. Grimmer was an amazing character in a cast of amazing characters and it was painful seeing him go.
fuck this guy was your favorite?
Almost all the characters of this show are legends, the only bad written one i can remember is the pseudo-johan politician guy. This guy really sucks, it's almost a shame to the show having such a wasted character
"I think I figured out how the show must have ended. The magnificent Steiner... he probably... became human again."
+razi9l1 try hard not to cry
+Angel Yamazaki I tried... I failed :(
Musica Life same :(
+Angel Yamazaki i laughed my ass off at that scene. I hated grimmer so bad lol
***** really? haha well I guess people do have diverse opinions :)
i must say, this is one of the most beautifully composed death scenes in all of anime.
*the most
The character development in this anime is the best I've seen. I almost cried over a fictional characters death :'(
Well if watch enough animes some just keep u crying for days, when you just here the characters name.... believe Koro senesi topped my list
Almost? You SHOULD be crying over it
I did bruh
i cried like hell man
I paused it when I saw him injured, when to the bathroom and started wiping away my tears and hoping that he doesn't die, went back and found out he did die, and then cried for like 10 minutes straight.
This scene made me shed genuine tears. When he said he was weeping for is dead son, I cried.
Powerful Anime. It progresses slowly but because of that it feels very real and the character development is unmatched. The series can really stir up emotions in the audience. Not just sadness but also fear, excitement, anxiety. When I was watching monster, incidentally I was actually also feeling all those things in real life due to certain events that were taking place. That just magnified the whole effect of this masterpiece on me. Even now as I listen to Monster OST's it takes me back to September/October 2013. Powerful Anime indeed. Very influential.
ikr
One of the greatest pieces of art ever!
living the same thing but now september/october 2023... its a masterpiece indeed.
Grimmer was the best character in this anime
*cough cough* Johan *cough cough*
Nawres Alsaleem Tenma yo
***** *cough* *cough* Roberto *cough* and Grimmer *cough*
And Lunge! In my opinion all of these characters was very..."unique"?
Lunge and Grimmer are the best. They are two Motherfuckers, who fuck everyone at everytime
Monster's finale (The last 6~7 episodes) was just amazing.
Monster is one of the few that brings literal tears to your eyes
Grimmer Wolfgang is a legend forever , he was the best in this anime !
I thought johan was the best
Grimmer was great, but for me, Johan was a unique character. He's no 2-D villain; as a viewer you have so many threads to pick up why he's become what he is but no answer is complete.
I just finished watching this episode, and I am truly shattered from within.
It's not always that a character's death makes me tear - and even so, Grimmer's death made me tear true tears of sorrow - like no other character has ever done. Grimmer's character was phenomenally well done. I am amazed at the level of depth, charisma, and kindness a fictional character like Grimmer was able to achieve. Grimmer has to be the most humane character I have ever seen in any anime - and any movie/real life series for that matter. He is truly my favorite character and I'll always have him in my heart. I cried at his death because I could identify with him so well. Because I want to be like him. Because I could understand him so well. And because, I hope to die an honorable death like him when my time comes.
Me too man.I hope my day comes soon.
The awesome thing about Grimmer he's not embrace the monster inside him instead he fight the monster by spreading the kindness to peoples. Meanwhile Johan and Roberto embrace their monster side and bring chaos and suffering to mankind
there was no scene grimmer than this one.
Get out! Now!
this anime is one of the best stories ever. You care for every character no matter how small of a part they have.
Yes. This anime is so underrated
True!
One of my favorite anime characters. Grimmer was the man.
The cries in this anime sound so real...
pokemonfreakful That's because the dub was one of the few of its time to use moderately-professional voice actors. Apparently, the creators had enough of a budget to hire some real heavy-hitters in the American voice acting industry to voice their characters, and it really shows.
You're right about that. The voice acting really IS great, especially compared to most dubbed animes.
Most definitely.
Don't get me wrong; Dubs have been improving quite a bit in the past few years. But dubs on this level still aren't particularly common, and the fact that most of the VAs in this show don't appear much in other anime only makes it better.
Some people still tend to sing songs of "bad dub" when talking about this show, but they don't know what they're talking about.
^ You know what you're talking about.
SEnigmaProductions My main issue with the dub is that, at least early on, it replaced the original gorgeous soundtrack of the show with some super generic, cheap background music. I long for a version of the dub that doesn't have the soundtrack altered.
first grasping that idea was so emotional to me. i cried. i was young when i watched this and it definitely changed my perspective of the minds of others and how I feel others should be treated. i feel to bring positive in life and to continue on and fight when everything feels in turmoil. I think that its a special thing to discover your will to live the next day.
How are u doing today?
doing fine@@Lementaliste
The best character ever... this show is a masterpiece, i think everyone that has dwellt through the dark dephts of depression and suicide, can relate a lot to even the ugliest characters... and for me, Mr. Grimmer had a lot of impact on me, growing up always feeling like a science project and privated from love, taken what you loved most, and just left there to figure it all out yourself, on your own... having him go that far to reclaim his humanity back, what was taken from what the world did to him... is the most tragically beautiful thing i have ever seen portrayer in a piece of media... this truly is a masterpiece. God bless this beautiful show.
Oh, so that's what his English voice sounds like. Reading the manga, I imagined that he sounded younger. Still a good voice, though.
Probably, yeah.
Grimmer expressing his emotions for the very first time is something special, R.I.P. one of the best characters in the show.
;( ;( ;( ;( There is no anime that can get me so close to crying than Monster. everything from the voice acting to the soundtrack is just done to such perfection! We need more animes like this one!
Human shows kindness cause it makes them feel good about themself, or that they feel guilty. Its all cause of emotions. They say People without emotion becomes monster or they are just dead. But Grimmer-san showed us that there is a third option of being kind, even if they are is no reason to be. RIP the man who wanted to cry
I just finished this episode. I cried.
One of The best supporting character ever
Hate how only Johan gets all the credit
Grimmer was such a well made character
One of the best episodes of anime I've ever seen.
I cry everytime I watch this episode and scene. What a magnificent contribution Naoki Urasawa has provided us!
Grimmer is such an awesome character with absolutely beautiful development and writing.
I truly cry every time I see this scene, Urasawa is truly a master.
Just watched this last night and I'm so devastated. He was my favourite. What a beautiful man, beautiful soul 🥺
This anime is INSANELY CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED!!! This video from 2:16 onward is just pure raw undiluted sadness to the core, the depts of feelings which I feel from this no matter how many times I come back to watch it again, is unreal man!!!
*Lunge*, *Grimmer*, and *Martin* (yeah he didn't appear that much but i really liked him) were my favourite characters..i know most people would say tenma or johan or anna, but i didn't like them as much compared to the 3 characters i mentioned above (don't get me wrong i liked all the characters)
Well , Johan is the best villain development but Grimmer is the only character that make me cry and Lunge is the one that i respect most
Raynal Arrung Bua Martin was an actual hero al he had to do was kill her and he didn't he basically gave his life to her
I liked the inspector Richard. He was a good side character
I agree with you, those 3 are the very best.
BadAssMacmillan ...Why though? You haven't explained why you think this very much
"Monster" should be studied as a subject in universities. Directors should take notes on how to "build" a masterpiece...
In nearly every anime I've watched with a body count, there's always been one death that always hits me the hardest and leaves me depressed over it long after I've finished watching it. This was that death for me for this show. Why do the people I want least to die always end up dead like this? I spent that whole episode hoping he wouldn't bite it, and he did. It was just one, "Oh shit no" after another with that last whole massacre arc when ppl were getting shot down left and right. Even sadder, I was all out of alcohol by the time this scene came around. All I could do was cry inside. RIP Grimmer.
This show is a masterpiece.
Gets me every time.
Such a underrated anime, such a shame most people will never witness such character development and story telling, so sad Grimmer never got that beer with Lunge or the picnic with tenma
I'm a pretty heartless guy, but I always cry at this part.
believe me or not but i cried when i read this scene on manga!
On the final episode, I cried... I cried tears of joy. I personally feel that, out of all the anime out there (few of which I've watched), this is probably the best ever made. Never has any movie, show, game, or any type of media, captivated me nearly so much as this. I honestly feel like a different person after watching Monster.
Most realistic interpretations
10 year still crying for his death 😢
One of the Best but yet underrated just because people could not relate to it. It attaches you to the feelings of a middle aged man but the audience includes many young high school lads😑
Why do I find this character so relatable. Such a beautiful tragic soul. Your emotions were like a letter addressed to you many years ago. And I am happy that you were able to find peace and sadness finally.
Thanks for that, related videos. You're a real peach.
Imo this is the saddest death scene I’ve ever seen
When Grimmer was first introduced, he felt like an unlikely yet bland, overly optimistic character to me - the kind you see in a couple of shows - with his over the top smile he kept the whole time.
However I started liking him as the show progressed, and later when it was revealed why he kept that smile, I realized he wasn't that character at all.
He eventually became one of my favorite characters.
Then finally, his death in episode 71 turned out to be the most moving part of this anime to me.
That scene easily made me tear up; especially since Grimmer was my favorite character :/
I cried my fucking hearth out when this guy died, to this day i cannot find a more powerfull moment in anything i've ever seen read or heard, and never a fictional character's death has had such a big impact on me, not even close and the list is not that short. I shall never ever forget this and how much it means to me.
Damn the manga is great but such a voice acting like this makes me felt the emotions more, i admit that after seeing this again tears are pouring down i my eyes
One of the very few times a death in some from of media whether it be a show, movie or video game managed to make me cry.
I never cried watching an anime, until this scene.
So Grimmer and Roberto became humans again at their last moments which means also yohan became human
Its so sad it was dying that bring Grimmer to true happines because when he was living he was empty and emotionless but when he's dying he crying for the first time remembering his died child. Maybe what Johan mean death is equal are for the people that has been experiment like him and Grimmer. Only in death they received the true meaning of life. Very sad anime
I read this part in the book I cried. I saw this part in the anime I was bawling. It's do sad.
i'm crying everytime :`(
this shit will make a grown man cry. RIP grimmer
A man does everything his entire life, running fighting struggling but just a man wants is,
A bottle of of wine and a finest cheese money can buy
Death couldnt fear a real man
Its just like sitting in the city outskirts with your childhood friend
Monster is such a good anime that some characters who just appeared in few episodes make you cry your eyes out when they die.
One of the few anime series I've ever watched completely. Truly an underrated show.
Almost cried watching this episode. Grimmer was the 2nd best character in the show, right behind Tenma.
I love grimmer so much
Same
Tenma was a great protagonist but Grimmer was the better character
Bro shouldn't had died
😭Didn't he promised to buy beer for Lunge and take the boy to picnic
Good wine with good cheese
Nooo 😭
Ikr
I dont think its a good idea to put a spoiler in the title..
i know right i mean i was watching these episodes on youtube and i saw this title of the video while looking for the next episode
There's enough misinformation and clickbait titles on RUclips to protect those who don't already know what happened.
@@victorfinngall3911
Funny you have a Dio Brando PFP and Dio and Grimmer have the same dub VA.
this is my favorite character from the show. the ending scene was so pure and heart rending!
he was such a goated character
True
Mr Grimmer❤️🙇🙇
Go be with your son, Grimmer..... you deserve the rest
Most underrated character in anime/manga
I cry from my son ;_; "heart broken"!
One of my favorites from Monster 🥺 My favorites always die 😪
He's one of those rare characters whom you could literally die for 😩😩😩😭😭😭
Such a beautiful character development , I love this anime more than myself 💕💕💕
One of the best supporting characters in anime, god damn, his death hit me hard.
What a sad scene grimmer was such a good character this scene made me cry😭
He is The Best Character & The Most Satisfying
He is literally the character that deserves happiness THE MOST. And the author kills him, smfh 😭 Johan, Grimmer, and Lunge are some of my favorite characters of all time. So sad grimmer had to die. Rest In Peace you legend ❤️🌹
Honestly, Grimmmer was one of my favourite characters in this show, if not my favourite.
My God this animee/manga is a fuckin MasterPieace
Realistic emotional anime
I cried when I saw this episode😭😭😭😭😭
WHYY GRIMMER 😭
4:12 That frame is just breathtaking...
mr. Grimmer my fav character he touched me
Grimmer deserved much, much better :(
Not sure why, but when I read monster I expected Grimmer to have a softer voice but this fits well too !
My experience is the subbed version of this show, which I really recommend and enjoy. Grimmer sounds very happy go lucky in Japanese.
my favourite character in this series, his death was so sad...
It’s an awful shame neither grimmer or lunge shared a scene with johan
Lunge was in the ambulance with johan
I wish grimmer were to have screen time with his child hood friend Adolfo Reinhart aka Roberto 😢 maybe grimmer would have said his name
i teared up man. good guy grimmer rip (just finished the anime today) atleast he went out like a boss
+Brandon Hilikus also finished the anime just now, a masterpiece.. and a good guy Grimmer he has a good ending.
when mr grimmer sacrificed him self to clear zuks name then run away, we didn't see him for a while till the last few episodes. When that happened i was giddy with exitement...then this scene i was sad for grimmer, sad for inspecter lunge, sad for kenzo tenma, *sob*
Oh Mr grimmer 😢😢
This is beautiful.grimmer was one of my favorites.
I wish I could hug him. And ask him how he could make me stop crying.
I've always liked Grimmer even though he's a killer and his death makes me cry every time, especially when he weeps for his son and Bonaparta kneels down and says : "What have I done?"
I legit cried man.
bro this death hit different 😔
Best. Anime. Ever.
I cried like a bitch watching this episode
