Can't find some parts of the Monster OST?
It has come to my attention that although most of the music from Naoki Urasawa's Monster is contained within this video, there is some music from certain moments and episodes that was not released in the official OST, and therefore does not appear in this video.
Thankfully, various individuals are working to upload some decent quality bootlegs of this "missing music" with the dialogue and sound effects reduced / removed.

Wolfgang Grimmer and Martin were my favorites characters in this show . I just can't forget those characters ; I wanna to rewatch it again and again and again .... . I cried when Grimmer Died . he's a real Man

@@memememe13132 Maybe it was for the best,how many awesome animes lowered their quality cause they got very good reputation.Reputation spreads the word but in the same time many people will come and check it cause of reputation and those people rarely filter what they see.When that audience is bigger than the starting base audience then it gives different impact and it might be enough to change its direction.We got a masterpiece so we should be happy,plus the anime studio and the author will have something to be proud when they see comments from an audience that they apperciated the anime and understood what exactly they wanted to do.

Islam is an arabic word that means the Surrender to the One and Only God, our Creator, Protector, Provider, who gives us life and all that we have, we are safe and sound by his will and grace, we are His and to Him we return, and we have to thank him in this trial life by submitting to him by our free will, or later in the Day of judgment when it's too late to save our own skin. Islam was the original Religion descended to earth from heaven with Adam and Eve (peace and blessing be upon them) in the beginning of humanity. and was passed to people with the succession of the 124 000 prophets and 315 messengers of God to all nations and civilizations since, passing by Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ismaël, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Solomon and Jesus (Peace and blessing be upon them) during the history of mankind, the last replaces and completes the previous, until the succession of the last messenger of God fourteen centuries ago, Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) to complete the noble morals of all mankind, to bring humans and jinns out of darkness into light, and to purify people's religion and belief from corruption and polytheism, and return it to purity and true monotheism, like it was in the times of the prophets (Peace and blessing be upon them).
Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy.
Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah said in Surah An-Nisa : O FOLLOWERS of the Gospel! Do not overstep the bounds [of truth] in your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. The Christ Jesus, son of Mary, was but God's Apostle - [the fulfilment of] His promise which He had conveyed unto Mary - and a soul created by Him. Believe, then, in God and His apostles, and do not say, "[God is] a trinity". Desist [from this assertion] for your own good. God is but One God; utterly remote is He, in His glory, from having a son: unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth; and none is as worthy of trust as God. Never did the Christ feel too proud to be God's servant, nor do the angels who are near unto Him. And those who feel too proud to serve Him and glory in their arrogance [should know that on Judgment Day] He will gather them all unto Himself: (171-172 / Translated by Muhammad Asad).
Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Ali-Imran : Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of God is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning!
Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures.
Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement.
It is they whose works shall come to nought both in this world and in the life to come; and they shall have none to succour them.

jihane hamdaoui I don't think it starts slow. There are just some side stories, which are very good actually, that may seem to give a more slow pace to the series. Personally i loved every single episode. However the last episodes are epic as you said.

+Myriad00 the thing is, lunge was so smart he could have solved the whole case and finish the anime in 3-4 episodes. So they had to make lunge have a flaw, which is to view Tenma as the main culprit and be oblivious towards anything else
+jigglymabob I agree, but I think there's a good reason for Lunge's behavior. His extreme intelligence and systematic tendencies have caused him to become very obsessive, and since he's basically never been wrong before, he can't really see that possibility.

That doesn't hold up really. Johan himself is quite an unrealistic villain. In reality is he actually possible? An individual who can influence people to do such things just be speaking to them and recalling their past etc. He too has some kind of special powers. He is some kind of super human.
Uggh... the song that starts at 1:28:15 is my FAVORITE piece of music in this beautiful anime series! It makes me sad, yet hopeful. It makes me want to cry but also want to smile. I just love it so much! Kudos to Monster for being one of the best anime shows I have watched thus far.
Not only the song is great but it also is used in the most appropriate scenes inside the anime. I remember myself crying many times (a perfect balance of sadness and happiness at the same time) while hearing this song when some powerful stuff was happening in this magnificent show.

1) "Naoki Urasawa, creator of Manga / Anime "Monster" has won two prestigious awards at the 45th Angoulême International Comics Festival.
In addition to having an exhibit of his works on display, Urasawa took home both the Fauve Special Award and the Fauve Polar SNCF Special Award for mystery works!
Those in France who want to check out Angoulême's Naoki Urasawa exhibit for themselves will be able to do so at Hôtel de Ville's Paris Rendez-Vous from February 13 to March 31, 2018.

Well i think monster in terms of writing is better than 20th century boys but i personally enjoyed 20th century boys more than monster, both are masterpieces anyway.

This anime teaches us how the lack of mother/child bond and the love - unconditional love a mother gives does to a person. The lack of identity, the lack of love, the lack of existence, even gender identity .. all create a monster. A mother that doesn't love is a true monster. A mother that choose between her children or never search for them .. save them .. sacrifice her life for their existence .. isn't a mother. I look at my daughter and I had times were it doesn't matter if this step is going to literally put me at risk .. because to me, her safety, her happiness and giving her her mother was more important than anything. It hurts .. at the end and as a mother .. I wanted to hug Johan. I couldn't but go through a rollercoaster journey until I found the answer for his troubled existence. It is sad that this story is not an alien through life, many serial killers have a bad disastrous childhood .. many have a mother who can't love.
I always saw the mother as the real Monster of this series

Johan's last words haunt me. Which one of them did his mother pick? Did he do what he did just because he was tormented by this mixture of guilt for being the one who was saved and shame for possibly being the true unwanted child? I can't stop thinking about it. I love to rewatch the ending. The feelings I get are so rare.

And to think the mom had no power. Their parents meeting was no chance all was planned to create the child that would be according to this Organisation would be Hitler incarnate. I don't think the dad's death was coincidence he served his purpose. If mom had gone against them she would have met the same fate leaving both kids in the hands of those people.

Guys,everyone has a latent monster inside himself. A momebt,a decision can make this monster emerge. Our name and the love of our deareast ones protect us from becoming this monster. When Anna was gone,Johan life was cursed: he had to become Anna, to forget love and his name. Just to protect her. And no one could save him,from that moment,the intelligent,sweet boy,shared his mind with an horryfying creature. And this story is placed in our world,not in imaginary world. Johan is real,someone knows his name,and till hw will live,Johan will be. Hope everyone of you stays well and warm, because the Monster is everywhere.
Johan undoubtedly thinks his mother saved him on accident and that he was unwanted. Just look at his shift in tone, body language, voice and mindset once Anna returns from the red rose mansion. Johan is waiting for her and they immediately run away, his mother is nowhere in sight.

Islam was the original Religion descended to earth from heaven with Adam and Eve (peace and blessing be upon them) in the beginning of humanity. and was passed to people with the succession of the 124 000 prophets and 315 messengers of God to all nations and civilizations since, passing by Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ismaël, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Solomon and Jesus (Peace and blessing be upon them) during the history of mankind, the last replaces and completes the previous, until the succession of the last messenger of God fourteen centuries ago, Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) to complete the noble morals of all mankind, to bring humans and jinns out of darkness into light, and to purify people's religion and belief from corruption and polytheism, and return it to purity and true monotheism, like it was in the times of the prophets (Peace and blessing be upon them).
Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy.
Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI).
Allah said in Surah An-Nisa : O FOLLOWERS of the Gospel! Do not overstep the bounds [of truth] in your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. The Christ Jesus, son of Mary, was but God's Apostle - [the fulfilment of] His promise which He had conveyed unto Mary - and a soul created by Him. Believe, then, in God and His apostles, and do not say, "[God is] a trinity". Desist [from this assertion] for your own good. God is but One God; utterly remote is He, in His glory, from having a son: unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth; and none is as worthy of trust as God. Never did the Christ feel too proud to be God's servant, nor do the angels who are near unto Him. And those who feel too proud to serve Him and glory in their arrogance [should know that on Judgment Day] He will gather them all unto Himself: (171-172 / Translated by Muhammad Asad).
Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Ali-Imran : Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of God is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning!
Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures.
Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement.
It is they whose works shall come to nought both in this world and in the life to come; and they shall have none to succour them.

Every form of media has its best piece, and Monster is the most precious jewel of anime. This soundtrack has just reminded me how great the series was.
Sweeper 32:18 gives me such chills, I can't begin to describe the feeling x_x. To me it's like a complete road to the hell of terror and hopelessness and back. Part, Gingerly and Angel hand had just as big an impact, I think I temporarily teleported to another emotional and mental dimension while listening to them, oh god o.o. I'm especially intrigued tho by the subtle sense of fragility and tenderness Gingerly made me think of, those delicate little tones you hear in the middle of it made me feel like peeking into the heart of a strangely mature child, but who still retains some traces of his stolen innocence -might be placebo effect at work, but to me, that's definitely a tune created for Johan specifically, the two blend into one just perfectly.
I gotta say, Naoki Urasawa is one of the best authors out there.
Whoever translates his works does an amazing job, as well. Serious props to the translators.
If you enjoy Naoki Urusawa's Monster, I'd also heavily recommend
I. 20th Century Boys - A group of children decide they'll be the protectors of the world (since they loved anime and superheros they wanted to be like them when they grew up) what they didn't know is the world was being threatened to end by an unknown cult leader who had the unnatural ability to murder people without ever having to even meet them who simply went by the name "friend."
- I believe this is actually his longest work with a total of 11 "Perfect" Volumes and a 12th after story volume.
II. Pluto - A story about how a world filled with robots and humans coexisting would work, and the death of a very famous robot.
III. Asadora - Something caused a giant tsunami in Japan that took out a portion of the country. Now, a young child by the name of Asa slowly uncovers what that thing was while also slowly fostering her love of flying (pun intended). This manga series is ongoing as of now, but is slowly being translated and put out as each volume finishes.
IV. Mujirushi - A story of a young girl and her father as he works through his recent divorce and a mountain of debt he placed on himself due to a heinous amount of bad decisions he made in the past. It's potentially Naoki's shortest story being a total of 9 chapters long.

I'll be forever be thankful to my friend who recommended me this anime. What a Story, Characters and locations where the story takes place. Apart from the baby, I loved all of 'em. This OST is literally goosebumps for 1 hour 37 mins. People say Attack on Titan or Death Note or Naruto are all time great animes when they clearly haven't seen this gem ❤

I never thought I'd find such a beautiful gem of a anime before. This was such excellence in writing, I truly wish there was more. I loved all the characters and got easily hooked.
Absolutely phenomenal stuff!
Johan shows us that “the real monster (last episode)” is something that exists within us all. He and Tenma are two sides off the same coin, yet share similar qualities. When Johan kills the doctors, it’s because Tenma truly believes they’d be better off dead. Tenma felt he had to stop Johan because he created the monster- that it was his own fault. In the end, he knew he couldn’t kill Johan, because he would become just as bad as him (the scenery for a doomsday). People saying Johan is the villain or a psychopath are missing the whole point of the series, and I believe that point is that monsters exist within us all “the monster inside me is getting bigger…. Chomp chomp, munch munch, gobble gobble”.
Yes!! This!! One of the many things that I love about this series is how _human_ every character Naoki Urasawa has written feels. We could be any one of the people in this story. It could happen to anyone.
Once you finish the anime/manga you're left with a feeling that your life is in YOUR hands.
I would highly recommend Monster to anyone that wants to watch an anime that isn't solely targeted at kids and want to watch something that is intellectually stimulating and allows you to think deeper into things, like what is the meaning of life, why are some people evil and how our choices/decisions affect us and those around us.

Monster literally changed my life. Once it ended, I garnered a new perspective on life. I don't really know how to describe it, but while I was upset that this masterpiece had come to an end, I couldn't help but be grateful. We all have backstories, some could be really dark, some could be really happy, it all depends on the memories we have. Yes, memories are so important in life and especially your name, cherish that you have a name, because some people don't even have the privelege to be called by their own name. 😔

I'd argue that Monster is probably one of the best anime/manga ever created. It's hard recommending something up to this caliber but I guess the recommendations I can offer are like Infinite Ryvius (which you should see for sure it's a classic). If you just want some deep stuff that is dark than Ergo Proxy is cool. Or something a bit more colorful while being deep Katanagatari is always good. And if you like big journey's that are a bit realistic than you might like Michiko and Hatchin.
Psycho pass has a similar detective vibe, it has more philosophical themes, although it's set in a futuristic environment.
They both have a complex villain who has a grand plan and involves shady/questionable organisations. They also both share similar themes such as a character determined to kill another regardless of the consequences involved.
Death note is very similar

Only by listening to the OST makes me want to watch this anime. I know that this one really treats us as mature people,and there are so less like it.
Back before anime was popularized in the West, before we became inundated with a wave of watered-down kiddie fare. There was Monster. Berserk. Code Geass. Death Note. Lain. Ergo Proxy. Evangelion. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Hellsing Ultimate. Steins;Gate. Before the normies invaded the anime community in the 2010s and massively overhyped at-best-decent shows like Demon Slayer or Hero Academia, or even atrocious shows like Sword Art Online, leading to most of the industry churning out similar stuff and abandoning what we loved about anime by the wayside in their pursuit of fame and money. Attack on Titan, surprisingly, managed to live up to its hype, especially in the later seasons, becoming one of my favorite anime of the 2010s alongside the excellent Fate Zero.
TL;DR
I'm looking for anime recommendations. I can't go back to mainstream anime after a masterpiece like Monster.
Hi, I'd highly suggest checking out Parasyte, Girls Last Tour and Made in Abyss. Parasyte is an absolute Masterpiece and for me has one of the greatest stories and adaptions of all time, much like Monster. Girls Last Tour may look cute on the surface, but it has an incredible story and world and very haunting music and feel that can make you cry. Made in Abyss is also another one that has many dark elements and an amazing world building concept and story, highly recommended. These are 3 of my favourite 2010+ shows. In addition, you may want to check out Madoka as it has been compared to Evangelion a lot and has a really incredible story as well and is perfect example of show that you don't judge by its cover.
Watch perfect blue, Vinland saga, hxh, bebop, champloo, san gatsu no lion (yes it is a sol on the surface but sticking with it till s2 will really reward you it's one of the most acclaimed anime for a reason), though this is a divisive one for many try rezero has some of the best fleshed out lore and world ive seen in anything and the monogatari series the humor and how confusing it starts off might turn you off but stick with it till kizu and see if you like it, it has some of the best character work and dialogue in the entire medium with really unique direction and music
Dang, I made this comment almost a year ago. Just gonna pop a few reccommendations I've found since, cause I've dug deep into older anime in the past year and found some good stuff:
Baccano, Gankutsuuou, The Soultaker, Texhnolyze, Angel's Egg, Ghost in the Shell, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Gurren Lagann, Kare Kano, Toradora, Dimension W, Log Horizon, Yona of the Dawn.
Definitely gonna check out Madoka Magica, Bakemonogatari, and some other Shinbou shows at some point thanks to Soultaker getting me hooked on his style.
