Hey guys, sorry for pinning this comment on all videos but I want to give you an update on the channel. I've been slowly adding a show archive to the videos including a full transcript added as sub titles and a full track listing (with links to RUclips videos for each track). Pilkipedia archive link has been added as well and I've been having fun illustrating some of KP's best bits, I'm adding these to a shop incase anyone is interested: www.man-moth.com/ It's taking me a while to update the archives, especially as I don't work Mondays so please bear with me as I chip away at it. John Snashall Steve brings nothing to the table, except and lanky goggle eyed freak. Just listen to this episode and tell me what he provided besides being there with a sore throat so Karl can take the piss. Karl even says at one point how he contributes nothing. x
Not this episode particularly but it can't just be Ricky winding up Karl. Steve allows Karl to put his point across (albeit then ridicules it!). Also there is the Steve / Karl insults which is a show staple.
I wholeheartedly recommend listening to the entire catalog of Patrice O’Neal appearances on the Opie & Anthony radio show from 2002-2011 140ish episodes of the best raw and funny radio you’ll ever hear. Not for the faint of heart or the “p.c. crowd”
S2 E30 is a standout for me. Has about 5/6 legendary moments in it, plenty of amazing Ricky laughs and my favourite Songs of Phrase. Also the Guinness book of records one (as said above) is insanely funny, Karl speaking with his mouth full kills me every time
Steve is jokes, love the guy he’s essential to this show. Imagine it with just Pilks and Gervais it wouldn’t be nowhere near as good. Steve is adhesive this show needed to be brilliant.
It wouldnt work without Merchant. Look at the Learn English with Ricky Gervais pilot for proof. Just having Ricky solo drives Karl to the brink of insanity within an hour of filming time

"Grandad, are you eating a Twix?" is one of my favourite moments of these shows. Along with Garlic bread, Faulty Tooth, Square tins, and split tennis ball.
I like Karl's specific instruction to Suzanne when she's ill to go and stand in the frozen chicken section. Rather than just the frozen section he narrows it down to the frozen chicken section.
+HeatyFrog I downloaded all the original clips from the xfm site before youtube and had them on an ipod on repeat. Ffwd 10 years and I'm still listening! I never told anyone for years because I thought it was too weird, but now on youtube its clear I am not alone!!

Ricky even comments about this when he said he listened to one back, how he was just eating, making noises because Steve knows what they mean and barely speaking English lol
There's so many classic moments packed into this episode. Dr Frog. The Comic Characters. "I thought we all agreed that RockBusters was a load of old toss"
Anybody else think that Karl misunderstood the "Steve going home because he was ill" situation? Steve was at his mom and dad's house, fell ill whilst he was there and stayed there for a few more days until he was better. I think Karl seems to think that Steve fell ill and then immediately jumped into a cab in his dressing gown and a thermometre in his mouth and then went to Bristol.
I know someone like this. Big headed, know it all, loud, claims he's just "being honest" as an excuse for being an asshole to everyone. He's also from Manchester. I mean are they all like this up north or what?
I totally sympathize with Steve, I had a sore throat like that a couple years ago and it was absolute agony. I think mine was different though, it was right at the top of the throat. Feeling the most excruciating pain every time you reflexively swallow saliva is torture. It's like there's a knife that stabs the back of your throat every time your throat muscles contract.
A Karl First: Selling the Marketing Director on Ricky’s sarcastic radio spots by pretending to laugh /making him question whether he just didn’t get it is the first time I’ve seen him do something very shrewd in the professional arena. Love it. Also, I agree with others: this is one of the best episodes despite not having anything particularly famous moments in it.
"Me clothes weren't always the best and they were a bit worn but they were always clean" Can't believe Ricky and Steve didn't cop Karl referencing one of his favourite tunes, Living in the City by Stevie Wonder
So, which are everybody's favourite episodes? This has got to be up there for me, when Ricky is cracking jokes and then Karl goes "riiiiight" like a pissed off mum before the record starts 😂

Steve's genuine disdain for rockbusters, especially when he calls it a "piece of old toss", is hilarious to me

I agree John! I love Steve. All 3 of them bring equally great parts to the show.
Steve has by far the sharpest and fastest wit of all 3 of them. This whole show would be pointless without him.
It has to be all three for maximum hilarity.
Ricky’s pause right before he says “Holy Fuk” for the first time always kills me, because he knows how Karl is gonna react
That’s his name, Karl!
12:40 for those wanting to catch the first one
No he paused because he was acting out the amount of time it would take him to answer the door and react to a genuine guest being at the door.
It's Ho Lee Fook
Him stammering and blanking with no material when trying to play Camp David/Gayvid Gray is just as good.

Steve - "Ding dong!"

Perfect one liner given the conversation 😂😂

When Ricky bursts back in saying “right I’m listening out there….” It makes me burst out laughing every time man.
Steve's shocked and troubled reaction racks me up at 15:11 when Karl mentions Rockbusters.

Yes to digging into Chris Moyles hahah
Also love how Karl tries to quickly change the subject every time Ho-Li Fuk is about to be brought up
This is just fantastic entertainment. It's so great that this was on the radio, live.
Among many things I love about this episode, Ricky getting caught off guard by “squoze” at 43:26 is wonderful
You know when you hear “ding dong!” That you’re gonna get a genius comedic character on the level of Chris Moyles
45:34 Stephen slipping in 'not your A-levels but fair enough' when Karl says he gives anything a go once lol.
The way that Steve transitions from lighthearted amusement mocking Karl to abject _terror_ at the mention of Rockbusters coming back
