  • Join Stephanie Jarvis for a tour of the private Chateau de la Motte Feuilly, hosted by its wonderful owners, Chris and Sonia. Chris is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge about the history of his home, and he shares many stories about the time that it was owned by the abandoned wife of Cesare Borgia…

    I love it when owners of places like this, actually leave or put back the history and live with in it. I agree, the kitchen is spectacular. The size of it, the beautiful arches, the fireplace, plus modern stoves, dishwashers, etc. So much history in these walls, and the owners who appreciate it. Thank you for sharing all of this with us.

    All the best with the new channel Stephanie. I've lived in Australia since I was 3 years old (born in London) and I adore chateaus, history and Europe in general (especially France). I was struck down with a rare bone disease 8 years ago (mid 40s) and am now physically disabled in a wheelchair and unable to travel. I'm so enjoying travelling from home, through your channels, others you've shared and all the Escape to the Chateau DIY vloggers.
    As I read other comments today I wanted to encourage you....
    There will always be people who love, like or dislike any creative content. I'm a blogger, Podcaster and have just had my first book published (my memoirs/plus tips for others living with chronic disease to live the best life possible). I know how hard it is to try and decide what to share and what direction to take with a brand. My story is one of love, laughter, faith and hope..... a little similar to your "life, love and laughter"
    Just be true to yourself and follow your heart. Doing this will always ensure you will connect with those who will appreciate all you are doing.
    Hope you're enjoying your holiday....also so important to rest and take a break from the public life. Take care, Sam x

    Miss Jarvis takes her guidebook, her gloves and parasol.
    And ventures to the country to find a house to call.
    Bedazzling the owners with charm and gratitude.
    They soon unlock all chambers and serve her even food.
    No secret left uncovered.
    All passage ways explored.
    Miss Jarvis is quite thorough when she attacks the fort.

    I have been very lucky through the years to have stayed in many French chateaux and every single time my enthusiasm from childhood resurfaced. I am always like a kid wanting to see everything in the chateau. What a pleasure to see that in you Stephanie, you live in a chateau yet enjoy the discovery with a childlike attitude. I think that is what my wife and I love about your channels. Merci and we love the bloopers. 😂👍🏻❤️

    Wonderful! I love not only seeing these beautiful old buildings, but hearing the history too. The bloopers made me laugh too. I've been in that situation filming and not able to stop laughing. Sometimes you have to give it a few minutes for sure. Oh goodness.

    Thank your hosts for inviting us into their private home. I watch lots of history channels and often Chateaux owned by women or the smaller ones have been overlooked (like Lalande and this chateau). The features in the towers are so unique and how they have arranged the kitchen is fantastic. In the past to hold the heat in, keep ingredients separate and stop cross contamination of food, the smaller rooms would have been necessary.

    • @yomiv6232
      @yomiv6232 Год назад +1

      In the past, the kitchens in chateaux were huge. That's why the owner said that he knocked down the partition walls which created 3 small rooms in this old space.
      Teh chateau de la Motte Fouilly is not a "small" chateau in the sense that it is part of the French history and is well known by any historians.

    • @carolinegooder7091
      @carolinegooder7091 Год назад

      @@yomiv6232 Really. No separation of food stuffs by partition walls? Food contamination is a real issue in an kitchen. Vegetable sinks are coming back into fashion and issues with home cooks not knowing how to stop cross contamination in food is an issue now. My grandmother was a professional cook, the other grandmother a nurse and my father a microbiologist.

      @@arnicepernice8656 since Stephanie is hardly the one driving those nails in the paneling and replacing rotten wood or all those other renovation jobs, she is free to go explore her area and bring us back fantastically entertaining content. I’m 100% on board and couldn’t be happier to keep sending her my “thousands” for her pure entertainment value. It’s definitely a “good look”.

    The owner knowing so much history, which is obvious that he loves, was really wonderful. The only thing I would love to see on future videos is more talk from Philip. We know that he would enjoy it and he always has a good word to put in. And I'm sure when you saw that mirror and said Philip would love it that he was probably almost peeing himself looking at it and thinking how cheap it had been. The bloopers at the end. Fantastic! Keep up the good work. You've got another subscriber
