- Join Stephanie Jarvis for a tour of the private Chateau de la Motte Feuilly, hosted by its wonderful owners, Chris and Sonia. Chris is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge about the history of his home, and he shares many stories about the time that it was owned by the abandoned wife of Cesare Borgia…
A huge thank you to Dan from @Escape to Rural France for the amazing drone footage!
This is one of the best tours of a chateau you have ever done. His knowledge of history of the chateau at different periods and the people who lived there is incredible. What a wonderful estate with two very interesting and likable owners. The bloopers were so fun. A great first episode for your new channel.
Wow love the history it's great that it's not lost a very interesting chatau
Yes that was my favorite 😍🤩👍🏽
The ending, when the wheels came off was such fun. People are people the world over and who among us does not had a marvelous memory of laughing uncontrollably over - nothing. Well done.
Hi! You've a beautiful picture on your profile just decided to stop by and say hi! I hope my compliment is appreciated 😊
I love it when owners of places like this, actually leave or put back the history and live with in it. I agree, the kitchen is spectacular. The size of it, the beautiful arches, the fireplace, plus modern stoves, dishwashers, etc. So much history in these walls, and the owners who appreciate it. Thank you for sharing all of this with us.
This is better than any show on the history channel. Congratulations on a mesmerising first episode. This château and it’s history expert owners would be fabulous to have a regular spot on your channel.
All the best with the new channel Stephanie. I've lived in Australia since I was 3 years old (born in London) and I adore chateaus, history and Europe in general (especially France). I was struck down with a rare bone disease 8 years ago (mid 40s) and am now physically disabled in a wheelchair and unable to travel. I'm so enjoying travelling from home, through your channels, others you've shared and all the Escape to the Chateau DIY vloggers.
As I read other comments today I wanted to encourage you....
There will always be people who love, like or dislike any creative content. I'm a blogger, Podcaster and have just had my first book published (my memoirs/plus tips for others living with chronic disease to live the best life possible). I know how hard it is to try and decide what to share and what direction to take with a brand. My story is one of love, laughter, faith and hope..... a little similar to your "life, love and laughter"
Just be true to yourself and follow your heart. Doing this will always ensure you will connect with those who will appreciate all you are doing.
Hope you're enjoying your holiday....also so important to rest and take a break from the public life. Take care, Sam x

What a great start to a new series! The Chateau owners are so down to earth and likeable. Their knowledge of history made this first episode very special. Stephanie, you’ve done it again! ❤
I think the bloopers shows how much time and commitment, both Philip and Stephanie have, to give us all, the best possible tour of this beautiful chateau
One of the most fascinating châteaux I have ever seen. The history is amazing. It always surprises me how close together these major châteaux are. 🇦🇺
Hi! You've a gorgeous picture on your profile! 😍😍Just decided to stop by and say hi 🙂. I hope my compliment is appreciated 🌹🌹
The cat meowing was hilarious, but the bloopers even better! 🤣
Seriously, what a magnifique place! The kitchen was amazing and the floors! 😍
what was in the dish on the tray with the wine glasses that cause the laughing? love this..
@@keithj3223 I don't know!
Just the microphone! Sonia had hidden it there
@@rose-marie7351 Rose-Marie, it was the microphone in the dish. Stephanie replied to me! I am honored, as that she is so busy. The video ended, an then afterwards, I realize how seamless it was, Stephanie has picked up methods from all of her channel 4 work!

Fascinating to hear the history of this beautiful chateau.
I love when the owners are the custodians of these magnificent homes and allow us in to appreciate their beauty.
Merci beaucoup.
I love their kitchen! And the lavender....so beautiful. Love the bloopers at the end. I was cracking up with you. 😀
Congratulations Stephanie. 🎉
If this video is a harbinger of delights to come then this channel will be a resounding success. Loved La Motte, loved your content. Can’t wait for more.
Chris shared so much history of the château, I actually watched this video several times to make notes so I can research. Thank you so much for introducing your viewers to this magnificent château & their owners. Congratulations on your new channel! ❤️
I am dying with laughter!!! The bloopers makes me really enjoy you all so much more! lol! What delightful people you are. And now on a serious note… I really appreciate the care the owners are putting into the castle. Back to laughing with you all again!
This is one of the most beautiful castles I've seen and the history omg, what a corker Stephanie and Philip well done on blowing our minds. Haha nick and Dan so funny. Xx

This is so delightful, Stephanie! Thank you for taking us on so many adventures. I love this idea for the new channel.
Also, I’m quite glad to now know where Borgia-Jesus painting from my childhood church (in a tiny mountain town in the US) came from. I always thought he looked a little too spiffy! 😉🫶🏼
Wow! You’ve done it yet again with your appreciation of history, introducing us to such lovely people & worthy custodians of this charming château, with impressive knowledge and great taste! What an interesting, fun, exceptional video! Thank you & can’t wait for the next one. The bloopers show your genuine friendships and sense of humour too.. so thanks for the extra laugh at the end!
Miss Jarvis takes her guidebook, her gloves and parasol.
And ventures to the country to find a house to call.
Bedazzling the owners with charm and gratitude.
They soon unlock all chambers and serve her even food.
No secret left uncovered.
All passage ways explored.
Miss Jarvis is quite thorough when she attacks the fort.
The audience applaudes her.
For they do learn a lot.
From grizzly crimes committed to brand of chamberpot.
I bow and I salute her:
For entertainment‘s prime.
Miss Jarvis is a diamond.
A treasure of her time ! 🥇😘
❤️❤️❤️
I do hope we will meet some day and have a proper chat and a nice cup of tea. 🫖 😊

Hello from London
I was very impressed with not only the age and restoration of this castle but the wealth of information regarding its history that Chris shared with us. I was in stitches with the bloopers at the end. 😂 Thank you.
Thank you Stephanie....such a beautiful tour. The exterior of the chateau reminded me so much of your chateau. Loved the "Bloopers"!!
Presentations like this one is why I fell in like with Chateau Diaries.
Same here.
What a delight! I’m so looking forward to future discoveries. You’ve done it once again, Stephanie!!
Chris is amazing! His knowledge and passion for the history of the castle and it’s content is simply breathtaking! The bar has been set - this channel is going to be spectacular!
This is so awesome!! Loved this couple and the castle!! I’d love to know more of Chris’ history and how he came to own the castle and how he met his wife!! Just beautiful!! I hope they start their own channel!! Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
Agree! A little bit of non-intrusive background, if possible, about the owners would be good to know.
Agree! Chris spoke French beautifully I think... yet couldn’t place his "English " voice... doesn't seem that French is his birth language.
@@gailcraig4495 Yes! That drove me crazy, what country is behind his accent🤷♀️
I was wondering the same thing
Accent seems americain
I loved every moment of this tour and the bloopers were the cherry on top! Thanks for the fabulous belly laugh! 🤣
This was a ton of fun! Beautiful, beautiful Chateau/Castle and it’s so cool to see the passion and knowledge of the owners! I feel as though I had a lesson in history, but a million times more interesting and fun than school ever could be! 🏰😉👏🏻
So happy to get this channel! I love when you do deep dives into other chateaux, history and culture.
I don`t have anything to say but I have never been the third person to comment, so: Hi!
Very interesting, the owner knows so much about the history of his castle. I love this new channel looking forward to seeing more. Especially the bloopers
Stephanie you are delightful. Phillip’s life has to be so enriched because of you, your infectious personality, your joie de vivre, and your intellectual prowess. Admire and adore you so much.
Yes, I keep telling him that 😉😉😉
What an amazing place with so much history oozing out of it. I agree that the kitchen is drool worthy. I also love the family history that they are adding to the chateau with pieces from their own relatives. I also enjoy the little tongue in cheek pieces but I think my favourite place is the thrown room.
What a phenomenal first video for this new channel. The history content alone makes it substantial. Philip does his extraordinary video taping knowing exactly what the viewers eyes want to see. The sliding chapel stained glass windows, the likely provenance of the "Unicorn at Fountain" tapestry, the "wooden stockade" from the 15th century tower, the tailors bedroom, the "Throne Room", the kitchen of all kitchens....all so simply marvelous !!!
I am just SO VERY HAPPY for this new channel! I love old homes, chateau, and history. Thank you Stephanie.
Well done Stephanie..... Hope to see more of you with Oliver too on this channel! You both together make great co-hosts.
Ollie and I will be launching a separate travel channel, too! We’ve already filmed over 10 videos. But it will be more holiday type videos, whereas here I’ll be focusing on chateaux, towns and antiques (like my old Sundays at the Chateau videos 😊)
@@GrandTourofEurope Thankyou for the feedback. Everything in due course no doubt! You make us all fall in love with France over and over again..... You really are a National Treasure. Continued success to you all and in all your endeavours!
I would've been happy to watch a tour of this beautiful castle for at least a couple of hours! It's absolutely stunning!! The outside was so beautiful as well! I would love to see the sitting room after they have redone it. I'm sure it will be beautiful. The bloopers at the end were so funny! When watching one of these magnificent tours we don't realize how many hours of filming it takes. At least I don't. The editing flows so seamlessly that it feels like you only filmed for a little while not hours and hours. It makes me appreciate the vlogs even more!! This new channel makes me extremely happy!!😁
So amazing that so little was damaged to modernize. Beautiful. So romantic. The chapel so stunning. The kitchen!!!!
Omg! I so needed a good laugh!!The ending was amazing! As was the chateau and it’s history! Thoroughly enjoyed this episode :)
I'm doubled over laughing from the bloopers as well but will stop long enough to wish you a HUGE congratulations on your new channel. It's already a winner!! What a magnificent place to start! ❤
It's Amazing to see layers and layers of history through your eyes. Thank you for letting us step into past and take a peek at the lives back then. Beautifully done! And I will be looking forward to the bloopers at the end of each video from now on!
What a breath taking building.
Being a lover of history, your new channel is deeply appreciated. The added bonus on top of the wonderful tour of such an historic and beautiful Chateau were the outtakes. They were both delight and reminder of just how much time and effort goes into each of your videos. Loved all of you cracking up. Thank you for the history, laughter, and all that you do.
🍁I love how the owner puts in fun whimsy with his history of the château, such as the ‘throne room loo’ 🤣 So amazing all his knowledge, this vlog was fascinating to listen to. The kitchen is my favourite room😍
Oh my gosh-this was AMAZING! The chapel was really special. You all brought the viewer right into the space- I felt like I was there with you all! The blooper reel was hysterical- I had tears coming out of my eyes!! Looking forward to your next one!! :)
This was wonderful but the bloopers were the absolute best! I loved seeing the goofy side of their personalities!
This is fabulous. Can't wait to watch every week. A wonderful idea. Your knowledge of history is amazing. You are a great tour person.
OH STEPHANIE!!!! I can already predict this channel being A HIT!!! 💕 Absolutely LOVE all the history involved ❤️ and the bloopers at the end had me in stitches!! 😂
Hi! You've a gorgeous picture on your profile! 😍😍Just decided to stop by and say hi 🙂. I hope my compliment is appreciated 🌹
Chris and Sonia are utterly delightful. Their castle Chateau de la Motte Feuilly is superb. Fancy it being connected with the Borgia family! The chapel is beautiful too. What an incredible gem of a castle. Thank you Stephanie, Philip and course Chris and Sonia so very much for sharing this very beautiful place.
What a delight! Just wonderful people looking after the chateau.
The bloopers at the end were so funny. Filming everything to look natural is so hard. Thank you. The history of this place was absolutely fascinating. Well done.👏
Thank you Stephanie for your new channel! I was just hoping to see more history of Europe and you are the perfect host anyone could ask for!
I'm sure your new channel will be a great success! So glad you are launching this new channel as I have always felt this type of vlog is what you do best. (I've really missed Sundays at the Chateau, and your more in depth travel documentaries. I would love if you do a segment on Grasse and the history of perfumeries, and any chateaux involved in early perfume making. ( hope you do not mind me suggesting!)
I’d love that!
What a delightful idea 🌹🌹🌹
The preservation of this beautiful castle is quite shocking ❤
I laughed so hard. Thank you for showing the bloopers. 🤣😂🤣.
This home is absolutely stunning❤.
Congratulations Stephanie your new channel is amazing. The chateau is absolutely stunning thank you for making it possible for the world to see it. Phillip and yourself transport us to wherever you are and we feel as if we are there with you all. Thank you another great channel to enjoy. ❤
Philip ~ your handling of the camera is excellent! To name a few things: slowly panning... including the whole scene that is being talked about... getting just the right angle for every shot... I think it looks very professional. And I loved the bloopers with everyone's laughter at the end!
I totally agree, Philips camera work is so excellent and brilliantly compliments Stephanie’s fabulous presenting skills. I had just been re watching some of earlier Chateau Diaries Sunday episodes presenting the history of various towns cathedrals etc because that’s one of the things I most appreciate… the sense of being able to linger for a moment of awe at the beauty just as if I was there in person. You have no idea how grateful I am for all your hard work putting these videos together. Wishing you all huge success!
Hi! You've a gorgeous picture on your profile! 😍😍Just decided to stop by and say hi 🙂. I hope my compliment is appreciated 🌹
What a love couple and beautiful Château, he is so knowledgeable and I really enjoyed hearing the history of their home. I especially love his sense of humor..the throne room with the bells and whistles, the little box hiding the sewing machine in the Taylor’s room. The bloopers at the end were hilarious.
What a beautiful castle. Loved the bloopers!!
Oh Stephanie I am going to love this channel. I had watched your vlog first of course and then to see more of this really incredible Château was such a treat. It’s just mind blowing how old and the history to this place is just amazing and SO interesting and what a lovely couple that own it and are restoring it as tastefully, historically but loveable and comfortable all at the same time. To think of all the people that have lived and been to this Castle over the many hundreds of year would be astounding. I will be looking forward to seeing your videos each month. The laughing, giggly bloopers were so funny as well. Thank you.
This was fabulous. It was so interesting. And that kitchen is amazing. The history of this chateau could be a mini series. So fascinating. Wonderful video, Stephanie. Bravo!!!
Can’t wait!!! What fun!!! Thank you for all you give us! Love and laughter from Florida.
Lovely to see such pride and passion in one's home. It's a gift to all of us. Thank you, Stephanie.
Beautiful tour. Here in Sydney a few years ago we had a visiting Art display at one of our Galleries of The Lady and the Unicorn. It was amazing. Tapestries record such wonderful medieval stories.🦄👑

Thank you Stephanie 💗 I love watching your channel about Lalande 💗
But after the first episode of the new one 🥰 I'm definitely staying.
The behind the scenes bit is amazing!
I love you, your energy and both your channels. Be Blessed! 💗
I have been very lucky through the years to have stayed in many French chateaux and every single time my enthusiasm from childhood resurfaced. I am always like a kid wanting to see everything in the chateau. What a pleasure to see that in you Stephanie, you live in a chateau yet enjoy the discovery with a childlike attitude. I think that is what my wife and I love about your channels. Merci and we love the bloopers. 😂👍🏻❤️
You've set the gold standard. Looking forward to future Grand Tours very much indeed. History, art, architecture and mystery. What a beautiful chateau.
We watched Stephanie’s grand tour of Venice - it was one of the best travel films we’ve seen (and we’re junkies). This channel will be deal breaking!
Wonderful! I love not only seeing these beautiful old buildings, but hearing the history too. The bloopers made me laugh too. I've been in that situation filming and not able to stop laughing. Sometimes you have to give it a few minutes for sure. Oh goodness.
Loved this, so much history! What a lovely couple. Thank you for sharing. 🦋
A new channel! Sounds grand! Looking forward to it! Just happened to be home to be one of the first to view it!🥰❤️🥳
Me too, wondering how many others got lucky too.
Congratulations on your new channel! What an amazing start. I just love all the historic connections. Good too that you’ve included the bloopers. With your excellent editing we would never know what it takes to make these vlogs. Much success to you.🥂

This was so exciting! Can’t wait for the next one.
Best tour. Thay know a lot about their own castle, so nice
This video was amazing! Such a charming couple and such a wonderful history.
Thank you Stephanie, I cannot wait to go on more amazing Chateau tours with you. 🇦🇺
Thank your hosts for inviting us into their private home. I watch lots of history channels and often Chateaux owned by women or the smaller ones have been overlooked (like Lalande and this chateau). The features in the towers are so unique and how they have arranged the kitchen is fantastic. In the past to hold the heat in, keep ingredients separate and stop cross contamination of food, the smaller rooms would have been necessary.
In the past, the kitchens in chateaux were huge. That's why the owner said that he knocked down the partition walls which created 3 small rooms in this old space.
Teh chateau de la Motte Fouilly is not a "small" chateau in the sense that it is part of the French history and is well known by any historians.
@@yomiv6232 Really. No separation of food stuffs by partition walls? Food contamination is a real issue in an kitchen. Vegetable sinks are coming back into fashion and issues with home cooks not knowing how to stop cross contamination in food is an issue now. My grandmother was a professional cook, the other grandmother a nurse and my father a microbiologist.
I am one of your Patreons who said just leave all your videos on one channel, but seeing this makes me agree with your decision. Great job. And please, more blooper reels. I’m wiping the tears from my eyes. Sooo funny!!
Thanks, Judy! I’ve been agonizing about this decision for a long time, but I’m happy to have finally taken the leap 😊
@@arnicepernice8656 since Stephanie is hardly the one driving those nails in the paneling and replacing rotten wood or all those other renovation jobs, she is free to go explore her area and bring us back fantastically entertaining content. I’m 100% on board and couldn’t be happier to keep sending her my “thousands” for her pure entertainment value. It’s definitely a “good look”.
The owner knowing so much history, which is obvious that he loves, was really wonderful. The only thing I would love to see on future videos is more talk from Philip. We know that he would enjoy it and he always has a good word to put in. And I'm sure when you saw that mirror and said Philip would love it that he was probably almost peeing himself looking at it and thinking how cheap it had been. The bloopers at the end. Fantastic!
