Blue boy and Pinky were a fashion trend. My grandmother had their portraits hanging in the hallway on both sides of her front door. Oklahoma city 1950s and 1960s. So of course I researched them. Interesting history.
I even had tiny versions of them in my dollhouse. ❤ They mark the time when blue became for males instead of red and pink. Females got the pink. ❤
The original paintings can be seen at the Huntington Museum and Gardens in Pasadena, California.
Wonderful Chateau. Vivian has designed two Chateaux over 20 years, so she has a detailed, rich but relaxed style. I love the funny touches added in. It is great that one day there will be 7 or 8 bedrooms completed. ❤

That buffet in the dining room is jaw-dropping it’s beautiful I’m not sure if I would paint it or change it. But I know With Vivians exquisite taste it will be beautiful

You brought out her playful side and the explanations added so much! Well done! I agree she has a warm and beautiful home! I mentioned quite some time ago on a Chateau Diaries episode that Mummy reminds me of Joan of Arc. I still think so. People comment on her "gruffness" for lack of a better word. But I think it's because she has standards that she doesn't like to see people cross. She doesn't suffer fools or laziness easily. She's the Joan of Arc of LaLande! 😊🤗🧐

I think that a home is a reflection of the people/family who live in it so to say that this is a most amazing chateau is a direction reflection of what wonderful people reside in it. I swear it isn't fair that some people get all of the talent, beauty and fascinating lives while the rest of us can't draw a straight line and live in tiny apartments. I would be a bit bitter over it but since you are kind enough to share a little of yourselves and your home then I guess I will still have to think you are wonderful. lol
A couple in NY lived in a tiny one bedroom apartment and 50 years ago bought cheap paintings from young artists. They had OK jobs, but not great. They later had dealers look for them, only bargains of strange new artists. They hung paintings on the ceiling when they ran out of room on the walls and stacked them under the bed. A new wing of a museum is opening up for their collection, which they are leaving to the world.
Vivians paintings are beautiful...I LOVE them and the plates OMG STUNNING I LOVE the birds to who knew how talented you are and have been hiding. You should paint again or do commissions true artist it should be shared ❤❤

I absolutely love Simon and Vivienne's style. It is warm, comfy, cozy, and interesting. It doesn't take itself too seriously. However, there are points of serious high-end antiques and objects of beauty and art. I love it! A wonderful amalgamation of American and European sensibility. 🥂🍾🎆❤️🔥

There is so, so much to be impressed with inside and out of Vivienne and Simon's unique Belle Epoque Château de la Croix-Boisée. I love the range of periods and styles of the beautiful furnishings but of it all I am in awe of the Limoges porcelain plates that Vivienne so perfectly hand-painted with various colorful birds and greenery.
This was so wonderful. I’ll now have to add Chateau

The original paintings of “Pinkie” and “The Blue Boy” by Thomas Gainsborough (18C, English) on which Vivienne’s grandma’s needlepoints was based are actually in the Huntington Library, Art Museum & Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California (open to the public).It’s near Pasadena. We visited when we were in LA. Worth a whole day visit !

I love love the way Viv. creatively and theme wise does up her rooms. She carefully plans and improvises a bit and makes the most perfect room. And I love her choices of color. Her Love of statues and tapestries make the best accessories for a house personal for their family and guests.Vievienne is perfect vlogger. But has so many interests that keep her busy and us entertained

Oh My, The Kitchen. I just love the kitchen. The talent and the creativity involved in doing it all themselves, it is so beautiful. I saw the Joan of Arc bedroom reveal a while ago and it is truly amazing as well. What inspirational designers and artists they both are.
