A government who asks taxes from this property does not deserve to have it, If it were mine I would have demolished it simply because a society who applies taxes over history does not deserve it.
They are 100% deductible of your income tax if the castle is opened to the public for free (75% if it is a paid entrance). And if you don't open it to the public at all, you can still deduct 50% of the cost
The information available about Château du Lude does not include details on the taxes associated with owning or maintaining the château. Here are some key points that might be relevant but do not address taxes specifically: Ownership and Maintenance The Château du Lude has been in the same family for over 260 years, currently lived in by Count Louis Jean de Nicolay and his wife, Countess Barbara25. Financial Aspects While there is no information on taxes, the château generates revenue through tourism, with visitors paying for entry to the house and park. The prices range from €6 for children to €12 for adults for a combined visit to the house and park1. Historical and Cultural Significance The château is a significant historical and cultural site, which might imply certain tax benefits or exemptions for historical preservation, but this is not explicitly mentioned in the available sources. For specific information on taxes related to Château du Lude, you would need to consult French tax laws and regulations regarding historical properties or contact the owners directly.
I would imagine that since it's a historical building that it may be exempt from taxes. However what I can't fathom is the upkeep, maintenance, and restoration costs. I'm not sure how the aristocracy works these days, but if the same family has lived there for 300 years I would imagine that they're most likely not concerned about money. 😂
I hope the library is climate controlled to preserve the books. Beautiful lady leading tour of her wonderful, historic home. I love that the home has its own fruit garden that supplies some of the food for the chateau. I also love that you pointed out that families entertained themselves with music and plays, etc. That was actually passed all the way down to American middle class families. My sis was married to a wealthy man…and I remember, after dinner, each person taking a turn singing a favorite song or two by the piano. These wealthy people could all play piano and could remember many tunes. I loved visiting and relaxing after dinner with them, singing along to old Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald standards. What fun. I’d want to live there just to be able to work in the gardens!
Thank you so very much for sharing this video with us❣️❣️❣️ It was wonderful that this woman took us into her home via the camera and shared so much with us!!!! This was such a generous gift to experience this. Otherwise, if not for this video, I never would’ve.
Thank you so.much for the wonderful tour, and I especially loved seeing some of the private areas. That was a rare treat! The lady who gave the tour was delightful with such a warm personality!
What a very lovely host. I can feel her admiration and deep love for this beautiful and extraordinary chateau. Her knowingness of the people who worked on the chateau is quite impressive. Her generosity in showing us rooms and spaces not normally on tour is very much appreciated. 💝💝💝
Very impressive to watch my ancestors legacy. Imagine doing all these without computers, phones or power tools. It's more than talent but a divine inspiration. The true value of history and its preservation is to remind us that the human mind and spirit have no limits. 😮
What a gift to be able to see this magnificent home. It would be cost prohibitive to build a home of this quality and fine art today. Absolutely outstanding.
Thank you for this translation! I am starting to become obsessive about the French chateau life, buying and reading books and subscribing to many RUclips channels about it. The Chateau de Lude is magnificent and at the top of my visit ASAP list! Madame de Nicolay is such a brilliant wealth of knowledge. Merci encore pour cette belle visite.
Very Massive.., I would feel overwhelmed with this Massively Large Chateau, My Father's family came from France.., Always wondered about the History.., Seems some family Lived about 20 miles North of Paris, and Some Lived Very Southern part.! Sort of Happy They Moved to Quebec,
This is her second video tour of the Château that I've seen. Both have been thorough and highly informative. Her knowledge of the Château and the surrounding gardens is quite impressive. The Château is magnificent, inside and out. How fantastic that it's still inhabited and lovingly maintained by her family. Merci, Madame! Merci beaucoup!
My mouth to the floor. Perfect hostess for this video. Thank you for opening your doors to the public. Would love to visit when i am back in the area. Amazing Chateau.
This is a SPECIAL place. Top notch restoration. The architecture itself is immaculate. The decor is perfection. Such wonderful and careful work. Thank you.
My favorite part of the tour was Eduoard Andre and his Gravity-pressured watering system which not only provided garden irrigation but also supplies the kitchen and the laundry cistern. FASCINATING. Mme Barbara de Nicolay is so well-rounded in her knowledge and so generous to share all the history -- Thank you so much !
I enjoyed you Madame just as much as the chateau and the tour... You're such a beautiful lovely person thank you so much for sharing your home with all of us..!
Merci beaucoup! A wonderful tour of a real treasure of France. The family Nicolette should be very proud of the dedication and hard work to restore and maintain such a beautiful jewel.
What a wonderful tour of La Lude. We were able to tour this beautiful chateau last August so it was enjoyable to see the rooms we saw in person, as well as to see the rooms that were not included in the tour that day.
1st. I LOVE YOUR OUTFIT! WELL DONE! I ENJOYED THE ENTIRE EPISODE, PLEASE CONSIDER DOING MORE. WHAT A FABULOUS HOME AND HISTORY. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! JimH
😳 It's true that every time I discover a chateau thanks to you,I am impressed as they are all fantastic, but this time I am genuinely Lost for words! It's absolutely incredible. Majestic. I was watching with open mouth from start to end. I stopped,I zoomed different parts staring at details. Every cm of the chateau is extraordinary. The styles, details, those warm colours, the systems that she is explaining in different parts, the history...the library-O my God...the linen room, the dining room used every day,the bedrooms, the kitchen/ one of my favourite parts in every chateau/,those stunning stairs, floors, ceilings, original furnitures with the spirit of old times. The attention to detail and ornaments is beyond incredible. I am so impressed, I can't even organise my thoughts. It's so incredible to be able to see rooms and private rooms, that are usually not open for public,or just very rare as it was said. Those old clothes/dresses,the uniforms with colors of the chateaux are so rare to see. Countess Barbara de Nicolaÿ is remarkable! It was very generous of her, to open the doors of certain parts of the castle for us to see. Thank you,So Chateaux, for this amazing episode. From today, one of my dreams/plans is to visit Chateau du Lude!
What a splendid Chateau! Inside out! Chimney mantels, parquet floors, Master Woodwork! Furniture, elaborate Dormer Windows and Chimneys, and much, much more! What a heartfelt warm and comfortable dining room! and to know you still use this Kitchen for making preservings! What a happy family gathering this must be every summer! How amazing, a Kiddneushaped Table, Never seen this before and am touched to know the WHY of this shape! Ohh I can feel, you must love your Chateau very much! Now I d'have a little question, how come that Antoine Roy (so says the speaker),.... "unfortunately died without a descendent", and then later says had "his daughter marry Marquis de Talouette" ? Hm... did I must have missed out on some part? Thank you so much for your Video!
Thank you so much for this beautiful video! Your knowledge of this house and its history is wonderfully told. What a time piece! Really enjoyed watching this! 👏

What a superb video on a castle I have ever seen
I love that. I took French in high school and college. Now in my 60's, I look for opportunities to hear French.
She's really taken the responsibility of owning such an incredible building very seriously.
Thankfully this chateau landed in this family's care, knowledge and love.
She is very practical and respectful of stewarding things and keeping it a living museum.
The taxes must be as stunning as the chateau. God bless them for preserving a most beautiful piece of grand history. I am awe struck.
A government who asks taxes from this property does not deserve to have it, If it were mine I would have demolished it simply because a society who applies taxes over history does not deserve it.

So beautiful! Thank you for sharing!

This video is an absolute gem!
Just beautiful, I love that I would love to visit some day.💗😊
Isn’t it interesting that people who live in castles have the need to find smaller intimate rooms to feel at home and comfortable 💁🏼♀️
“People that live in castles…” surely you are keen patronizing observer of such people, but also missing the point of the video.
@lynnesews9725 Thanks for pointing that out. I also noticed that.
It looks awesome...but really living there is something else. You are right 😂😂
So beautiful!
What a very prestige property with so much story ! AMAZING. Thank you very much❤
Amazing!
Very beautiful home. I just love it!
I thought she was an art historian at first, not the lady of the house! She was so knowledgeable and elegant
Looks straight out of Tomb Raider. Beautiful artwork.
