- In this video we look back at 2023 season in F1, not looking at the drivers ranking but what the year was like to cover as a Formula 1 Photographer. The highs, the lows, the crashes and the celebrities.

Had a good laugh Michael, went to my wife and daughter to see if they would like to join me in watching a review of f1 2023 season. They stared at me as if I was mad. I said it was hosted by Stephanie Jarvis. All of a sudden, the enthusiasm changed. So we are now watching and they are very engaged . Thanks for a great year, and I'm looking forward to seeing more content next year🎉
Michael has a brilliant eye! Thank you for taking these dramatic and exciting pictures. What a great year. So happy for you to be able to take a break at LaLande with your Mum. Happy New Year!!
Thank you so much! It was so so good to be there. I'm glad you liked the photos :)
Michael, you are so talented ❤
Thank you so much! So lovely to hear!
Michael, maybe you should take a trip over to Dan's Chateau and take some photos of his build and his works and gain some subscribers? It's just a thought🎉🎉 cheers! Happy Prosperous New Year. hug mom for us❤
Love the different camera angles. 🥰
Yay! Thank you! That was a new experiment. I'm glad it worked so well.
Loved the interview. I learned more about racing than ever before just watching television. Thank you Michael. How exciting. 😊
That is brilliant to hear! I'm so glad you enjoyed it
I know I have said it to you before Michael but it deserves to be said again, your photos are amazing! I have seen a lot of sporting photos but yours have a whole new dimension. Your color and vibrancy is breathtaking - detail is impeccable. You don't take photos you create art!
I was at the Austrian this year, it was such a wonderful experience. I miss the days of Ayrten Senna (RIP) and Alain Prost, I must add.
Austria was incredible - Prost v Senna was my childhood and probably the reason I do what I do.
@@MichaelPottsF1 Incredible and now I understand why you do what you do.
@@MichaelPottsF1 I am Austrian, born in 1959. The hero of my childhood was Jochen Rindt.
Loved this video. You gave a thorough and engaging description of what you do. Your photography is very emotional, very beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Cheers to mayhem on the tracks in 2024! 🎉
Thanks for your great run down of the F1 season Michael! Your photography is fabulous. As I was watching I tried to count the number of celebrities I recognized. Looking forward to next season and your taking us along with you. Happy new year!🎉
Michael I know nothing about racing started watching your channel because I feel I knew you of course LaLande ,but your description of each race and the drivers is phenomenal
Cheers Michael 🥂 btw your Mum is absolutely lovely ❤
Thank you so much! She is amazing!
Wow, Michael. I had no idea of the extent in breathe and width in what you work. it's incredible! Your photography is phenomenal. I live in Columbus, Ohio and every Sunday my dad would take me to the races locally and that was such a special time when I was young and he brought me into his world to watch the races with him, so this is special for me to see your story. He's been gone 20 years now. So thank you❤ Happy New Year... Cheers for a safe & prosperous year! 🎉
Mr. Potts... you are a very talented photographer! F1 doesn't interest me one bit, but I find your foto's, no... your ART fascinating. Thank you for sharing and, from The Netherlands, I wish you a great 2024.
Dankjewel!
Wow Michael great interview with Steph your job is wild but exciting….good luck for 2024 and be safe so you will be baking bread at La lande in the future!!!
Happy new year! I do hope to spend as much time there as possible in 2024
Enjoyed the interview as well as your stunning photography! Have a wonderful New Year!
Thank you! You too!
Gorgeous vlog, very suited for the end of the 2023 season, Michael! It is certainly not an easy job and I cannot see anyone doing it unless driven by talent and passion for F1!! You certainly tick both of these boxes!!! Thank you for the colourful (literally!) insight!! I wish you a New Year filled with great professional and personal achievements!!!😊🏎❤
A fascinating and informative interview. Had no idea just how flat-out time-consuming photographing the races would be. Michael's photos are superb, and Steph is an excellent interviewer. Thank you both so much!
Beautiful shots! I loved the video. Thanks! 💕
Thank you!!!
As F1 doesn't really float my boat, i didn't expect to enjoy this as much as i did! I found it informative and fascinating. Thank you.
I'm glad you enjoyed it - hopefully it showed you something a little bit different :)
I must say this was a very interesting interview with your days shooting F1, and your photos are amazing, Michael!
What an amazing career for Michael Potts and what a super talent at what he does. I also want to personally thank Michael for some very useful pointers on the driving skills necessary to get around the slower paced over-wintering snowbirds on the congested streets of Palm Springs.
Superb, amazing shots Michael , I am not a formula one follower but admire the clarity and colour and artistry of your photographs . Thanks for chatting to Stephanie about you working year , very enlightening ❤️
Thank you! I'm glad you found it interesting :)
ABSOLUTELY gorgeous Pictures ❤
Thank you so much!
@@MichaelPottsF1 Have you thought about making a book? A coffee table book of those pictures would be fantastic ❣️
I learned so much about F1 from this! I'll be at Miami F1 in 2024!
So talented God bless love what you do and the love you do it with !
Thank you!!
Wonderful Michael! I live in Vegas and for months if not years leading up to the race it was all we talked about! Vegas had a few glitches but hopefully they will be able to fix them before next year. Lots of excitement though! Next year if you are in town and have any free time a delicious bbq invitation awaits you! God bless, Happy New Year and stay safe! 🏎🙏🏻😁
Thank you so much! That sounds really fun, I'll be there next year. Send me a message on @michaelpottsf1 and we can plan something!
Great recap of the year and your job.
Thank you!
I moved to Las Vegas right after the race took place, very fun to hear about ❤ and beautiful pictures of the area! I can’t wait to explore now.
You've got so many beautiful things to discover!
Spectacular work, Michael! Also enjoyed your nature shots of the American southwest. I've been to Vegas a few times for trade shows, but have never had a chance to see the surrounding area. Usually I like to do a little "power sightseeing" in a day tacked onto the end of a business trip, but not when in Vegas; it's just not my scene!
You would have enjoyed Red Rock, Valley of Fire, Mesquite, Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, and the bridge over the dam to Arizona.
I'll add all those to my list for next year!
There is so much to see in the area, but you do need a car
WOW, what talent you have. I am sending this from Nova Scotia... Canada and thanks to RUclips we all get to see your wonderful photos. 👍
Now Nova Soctia must be amazing. Any tips on traveling there?
Fascinating recap. Always a professional. Congratulations on this past year and future exciting fun for 2024. In my past, I had the fortune of spending a few summers at Silver Lake and Sand Dunes, Mears, Michigan with Mario Andretti and extended family. My parents had a summer cottage there and one of our neighbor family were from Indianapolis, Indiana and worked at the INDY 500 racetrack. They were close friends of the Andrettis.
Don’t know anything about F1 but really enjoyed the video. 😃 What an interesting job!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fab interview. Love your photos such a creative eye... quite a sacrifice a juxtaposed life style- sure add's colour and depth to life All the best for a fantastic fruitful 2024
Luv ❤ your photos & your back stories of the F1 Congratulations 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇬🇧👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a fun interview. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photography and adventures.
My Goodness Mr Potts.. Your talent is Extraordinary..
That is so kind, thank you!
I've stayed in some seedy places in Montreal too
I'm excited for next year, I've now got a new airbnb near the track.
I work at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on my breaks I would run outside to watch the qualifying for a bit. The feeling when they came flying down the strip was incredible.Yes we locals weren't very happy with the year of construction but in the end it was so worth it!
Sorry about that... hopefully next year is smoother. What was the reaction once it was over and how long did it take to clear up? Do you have your city back?
Michael I am so impressed thank you for sharing your magnificent photos and stories. Thank you Stephanie for the interview. ❤
Thank you!!!
Amazing photo Michael, enjoyed your vlog very different 😊xx
It's lovely to see some of your work, Michael, and to see Brad Pitt's rival in the good looks department. Seriously, your work is impressive. Thank you both for the video. 🎉❤🎉❤😊
Thank you so much!
I like the behind the scenes stories, including Michael's photo's in between, there are beautifull. well done interview
Thank you so much!
Stunning photography are you doing a book of the chapel the photo you gave your mom was gorgeous
Very interesting, even to a non race fan! I really admire your work, whatever the subject .
I have to say that I have not ever followed F1 until I saw that they were going to have a race in Las Vegas which is so close to me since I live in Salt Lake City. I started watching Kim Illman and was so interested in how much work went into planning and preparing for the LV race.
Then, one night while watching Kym’s vid with him filming next to the track, I spotted Mr Potts out of the corner of Kym’s video and squealed with glee that I spotted Micheal in the wild also on scene filming F1!!!
It was so fun to put two and two together seeing Micheal whom I know from the CD channel spotted on Kym’s video - I’ve come to learn more about how fantastic Micheal’s work is!
I hope this doesn’t come off as a “hey, I saw you on someone else’s channel” comment, but more of a “HEY! I can now connect the dots of what you’re doing and can appreciate how amazing it is!” kind of comment 😅
Thanks for this vid as it helps me understand more of what it takes to do the work you do and I think it’s absolutely fantastic that we get to see the world from your perspective 😊
Brilliant! The Vegas race really was something. Kym and I did a walk around the track trying to find the best spots to photograph from so we could plan our weekend. It was a bit tricky as the track was part of a working city.
Very glad that you have connected the dots and hope to see you at the race next year. I hope they make the tickets a bit more realistic in price.
@@MichaelPottsF1 Wow! Thanks for the response - I’m very honored 😌
I also hope that they adjust pricing and it will be interesting to hear the fallout of the class action lawsuit that has been filed by those disgruntled by the Thurs night fiasco.
Hope to see you there and shake hands next year!
Michael really does take the most amazing photographs. Happy New Year!
Loved the interview. Hope you make tons of $$$ from yr beautiful photographs. Follwing F1 since my youth, was at Kyalami in South Africa once and it was awesome, I was sooo young. You are so dedicated and talented. Love the dark ones with the lights streaming. Rest up please, yr year sounds hectic!❤❤❤
Thank you!! Next year is going to be a big one, but it is a lot of fun to do too! Hopefully Kyalami (or even better a street race in Cape Town) will happen in 2025
Im not a formula 1 fan Michaeal, but your photos are stunning . I wont be watching the racing but will watch for your photos . Happy new year
Much appreciated! That is all I can ask for :) I hope you have a wonderful new years!
Wow so many amazing shots! @2.28,3.25, 3.28,3.36 3.56,4.09,4.36,7.51,8.20,8.28,12.40,16.18,18.20, 19.10...love the shards of colour in 3.56 the above lights matching the colours of the car and sense of movement and how you got the eye as focus in 7.51 and soft focusing around it and different shades of colour. Love the Jimmy Kimmel advert man shot too Only cos one my fav funny hosts lolol .Can you make a book? The Explosions of colour are amazing.
Lovely shots, Michael.💫👏
Thank you so so much! I am so glad you liked so many shots!
Super dramatic and highly artistic fotos! ❤
Thank you so much!
That was an amazing interview. Not a racing fan, but you take photographs like no one else. I am thinking a coffee table book with your photos would be a bestseller with the racing world.❤❤❤❤
Thank you Michael! Great photography this year. I didn't see many "crash" shots in this video which can only mean one thing. You sold enough shots to get to eat this week! I was wondering how your year went with the global inflation situation. Costs for dining out and hotel/Air B&B accommodations are crazy expensive. I can't imagine you riding a bus after a long day at the track, a tummy full of food and trying to stay awake so you don't miss your stop - It's almost cruel. You must build your Bar-B-Que this year somehow - when you land your feet at LaLande to recharge the first thing you want is Bar-B-Que. (well, after sleep lol) Fantastic shots on this video - thank you so much for sharing them with us. Long time Potts Photography Fan and how I found Stephanie's channel. No one likes when the tracks are being built, Vegas will get better at it - Toronto did.. sort of lol
Thank you so much! I booked a lot of travel in advance - so I'm not sure I experienced the full inflation crunch, but 2024 hotel costs have been lower. I do home F1 reduce their ticket prices because they are far to high.
I looked at the ticket prices for Montreal and the prices aren't bad for the nose bleed sections lol But $35K for the elite grand stand. Ouch.
Amazing photo’s , I’m a great fan of the Formula 1 and a great fan of Max, he is the best. Thank you for sharing those amazing photographs with us…
My pleasure! Max is indeed a special talent.
Your photos are amazing! Fascinating to know how you do your job. Our good friend, Dan Gurney (the first to spray champagne) was so excited to win Le Mans (1967) that he started to spray champagne on everyone, including Henry Ford II, photographers.. He would get a twinkle in his eye when he told the story because he knew it was a bit crazy and he thought he would be in big trouble!! My husband just retired from his shop, that is still going, All American Racers. Loved this video and especially your photographs!
That is a brilliant story - I didn't realise that Gurney was the first winner of the Cannonball Run. Very interesting racer!
Amazing Photography Michael, nice interviewing Stephanie, really enjoyed the whole vlog.👍👏😌❤️
That is so good to hear! Thank you!
@@MichaelPottsF1 Have a fabulous year Michael.🙏
Fantastic interview and amazing photographs and information from Michael as usual. Bravo. ❤
Thank you so so much!
Love the photos Michael. Great interview Stephanie Michael 😊
Thank you!!!
Excellent photography. I enjoyed listening to this informal interview between good friends.
Thank you so much! It was such fun to do.
Wow! What a wonderful job you have Michael. My daughter used to follow Mark Webber when she was a uni student and for her 18th birthday went to Formula 1 in Melbourne. She did’nt tell us until I got the phone call “ Hi I Mum you’ll never guess where I am? That’s right I nearly died with shock. She said she was in a hotel full of men, her stand seats were surrounded by men. Yes, I was worried. She survived and had a wonderful time? 😱
haha! That is brilliant. We see Mark a lot in the paddock these days as he is Oscar Piastri's manager. That kid is very talented!
Thankfully the races are so much more mixed these days.
Superb photos, really interesting interview 🏎️
Thank you so much!!
I know nothing about Formula 1, but the interview and the photography were fascinating!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it
Thank you Michael for allowing us to connect with you AND with Formula One in this way. The explanation of how you work was very interesting, honestly! You no doubt live a ram packed life so I’m sure you relish your down time at home; I don’t blame you!
FYI, I LOVE your non-race photography!! I hope you sell as much of that as you do your primary stuff - it’s fantastic!! The Grand Canyon pictures were so balanced and lit so wonderfully. Maybe when you’re done with your race life, you’ll take up more landscape stuff so you can slow down a bit and smell the roses (reap the benefits), if you will??!!
Again, I appreciate you taking the time to respect all of us, out here in internet land, enough to honor us with a brief peek into your world…..as an owner of LaLande it really does make us viewers feel like we matter to you & Stephanie, who we’ve come to know & love through your generous gift of sharing!!
Still looking forward to the day Nick decides to join us though but in the meantime, you and Steff do a wonderful job; you’re both so gracious!!
CHEERS - Big Hug
Thank you so much! That is so lovely to hear. I am so glad you are enjoying the diaries, I have intentions of producing more non race videos this year. Lets see how that goes :)
Happy New Year, Mr. Potts. This was entertaining. I had not really thought much about what you did between races. Good job, Stephanie for bringing that out. 🧡
Thank you! Yes she does!
What a great interview!
Thank you!
Spectacular as expected Michael, thank you...BUT. forget the races, forget the cars, forget the drivers, forget the crashes...YOU got a great shot of ROGER FEDERER!!!! 🇨🇦
Yeah, that was a lot of fun - the Williams sisters were also at that race. Roger did a lap of the track as a passenger in a sports car driven by a professional racing driver. He loved it!
I imagine then that you will see him at more races in the future. Mercedes-Benz was one of his long-time sponsors during his tennis career. I just hope he sticks to the passenger seat. It looks awfully dangerous.@@MichaelPottsF1
As always, fabulous photography Michael, wishing you a happy and very successful 2024...
Happy New Year from Sydney! ❤🦘
Thank you so much! Sydney is on my roadmap for 2024! Can't wait.
Spec work is so hard. I hope you want/get contract work soon, but I know, it comes with liabilities too. Anywho, rock on because your work is great! 💐
Thank you!
Very interesting, entertaining and informative. Thank you.

I've already booked my flight!
Soooo interesting…thank you!❤️
I don't know anything about racing but your photographs are amazing.
Thank you so much!
spotted you on Sky Sports F1 Ted's notebook :-)
Thanks, it is always fun the hang around him at the end of the race
It is a lifestyle....you capture action, people. I just finished Annie Liebovitz's Master Class, and so I can see what you are doing through her eye, and as a photographer myself I can appreciate the dedication to making a good photo. Every photo is edited, and editing is so important in photography.
For this type of photography you need to deliver a large number of photographs quickly so I do a lot of batch editing. I try and create presets for different conditions and types of light so it speeds up the editing process.
I am a big F1 fan. This gave a whole new perspective on my favorite sport with your stunning photographs. See you next year. Happy new year!
Excellent! I am so glad you liked it. Hope to see you at one of the races!
I really got a lot out of your vlog today, Michael, thank you SO much Stephanie for having a sit down and suss out this fun info. I've been several times to the Grand Prix in Long Beach, Ca. as a guest with a person who ate up races, this helps me to understand more of what I was experiencing.
That must have been an amazing experience. That track looks amazing.
Well done Michael
Thank you!!

Very interesting interview - and my Formula 1 exposure has been minimal - one little event in Detroit Michigan probably before either of you were born. I had no idea what the life of a Formula 1 photographer was like. The photos are magnificent!
Thank you! I remember watching Senna race on the streets of Detroit. It must have been amazing to see. Do you remember the sound of the cars?
