As a 17 year old who will soon be going into the work force and possibly moving out on my own, these types of videos have taught me to be critical and to even learn how to do things myself. I’m learning how valuable it is to be handy. A jack of all trades. Thanks for teaching me to always keep a watch on people!
Problem is these companies just changes names =\.. so even if they go out of business from bad business practices, they will start up the same BS again
So listen to the accent on the phone, and hang up if it's an Indian/Pakistani accent. And don't chase a discount deal: these people operate at the ultra-low-cost margins of the industry.
I don't know about moving companies but there are a lot of gas stations, restaurants, and small grocery stores that do this here. Basically they 'sell' the business to a family member, change the name, and BAM magically it's a "different" company.
Paul Biechmann it’s not only Pakistani or Indians. Some of those guys looked Afghani. Either way, you should make make a contract and discuss what’s included with the move. Put I payment terms. Either payment in full after the move is completed and unloaded at the new location.

You should have seen my last military move. I was scheduled to receive our household goods the following morning and called the driver with concerns that the back yard was muddy, so for him to use the front yard. He informed me that he offloaded 45 minutes from the house that morning. I was livid! My delivery was two days late, wasting two days of someone's time that came to help me get settled so I could get to work. Then, when delivery was made, every blanket and padding had been removed. Antique mahogany dressers with the Queen Anne feet busted off of them, and an 1899 family heirloom buffet came in the door broken into three pieces. The frame of the quality sleeper sofa was broken when they dropped it off of the truck. A bookcase of career souvenir mugs was knocked over, resulting in the loss of nearly all of the items. It was an absolute nightmare. I have never seen a move with such extensive damage. These are just highlights. My claim was seven pages long!
my dad works on a move company and he uses uniform, wraps things, but everything with ramps, and takes a LOT of care cause he knows he has to pay all of that. He is his own boss and follow the rules!

I watched this video a few years ago.... I was thinking that this might just be the company. I'm glad I found it... But I am sure THIS has to be the scam moving company.
We didn't have any motor league coverage once in 1989 and needed to have our van towed to a garage. I was in the USA driving a truck. My wife called a tow company who said they would come and tow it from our place to the garage( about 5 - 6 km.) for $45. She was told he works with this garage and they will pay him. Ten minutes later the garage calls up and said the tow truck is demanding $150 cash or he won't drop it. She agreed because what else was she going to do. We only got the money back because we got dirt on the tow truck driver and threatened to report him to the authorities. Ten minutes later a car rolls up and a little kid jumps out and runs up to the door with the cash.
Okay so this program came out a long time ago. I know it came out 2013 but I’ll break down what happened afterwards. *UPDATE* The owner and most of the movers were arrested in 2010. The sons owned like 20 moving names and they switched them out a lot if you noticed at the end they painted over it on van that’s why. One of the stories not mentioned really irked me “In one recent case, Hooper said, a Haitian couple was allegedly forced to go to an ATM machine and withdraw their last dollar to pay for the rising costs involved with what was supposed to be a $300 move. Police said the movers then jettisoned the couple’s belongings onto the street and drove away.” They got what they deserved. The car he drove which was part of the company was taken. Oh and he was a millionaire on welfare.
This is my new favorite show. Well filmed, well told stories. Thanks for uncovering fraudulent actions and airing it on large media markets! Y'all are fantastic. If I could help catch horrible scammers like this, it would be my dream job.
This company is well out of order. But believe me I worked in this industry for well over 10 years and I can tell plenty stories of customers coming up with excuse after excuse about not paying full price as agreed.
My grandfather was a professional movers, and he would be outraged on what some of these bad movers are doing. Keep fighting back against them Mr. Harington.
So... at the end of the day their outrageous fees got paid and the moving people are still around ripping people off with different moving company names... Who got the last laugh again?
I think they paid because most of these "SCAMS" Arent a scam in the traditonal sense..more like legal loopholes..its just people taking advantage of indivduals being to nice, or not speaking up..You have a mouth..use it, speak up ask questions. They probably would have got to court and the courts would have found no issues here.!
Raiden TheKat seriously these people are mostly just here to complain. They keep saying it felt like having a gun against their head, but that's so opposite. They're in control, no one's forcing them to work with a particular company or sign a contract. People don't have much of a spine these days. Or just do it yourself if you're a perfectionist.
I do the same. Sometimes it takes the whole day, but at least I get to keep my money, and make sure that my stuff is still intact and in good condition.
@Aleksey Razumov lmao when me and my family moved into new place we used my dad Honda Odyssey and load up everything in there even the fridge we have fit perfect we help my dad sister to move in her new place too
We had movers, four guys, insisted they could get our piano up the stairs, while I said it would be easier to push it around the house on their roller and enter through the back door. They moved it up four steps and got stuck for half an hour, then admitted they could not move it up any further, and took my advice to roll it around the house. But in the end, still charged me for the four steps up the stairs.
We really need the 2nd amendment over here its getting pretty bad, like if someone is robbing your house you just have to accept it until the police show up 15 - 20 minutes later. "Ok go ahead and rob my house I wont stop you"
As a country, they never had dealt with any wars, social segregation, and as a result have never had to be "rude". As a consequence, they will be taken advantage of.
t687m yep, also never move at the last minute. My current lease was signed when I had several weeks left on my old one - to give me enough time to move at my own pace
Rick's Giggle their scam was preying on people who hired them (based on a verbal quote). Those customers so relied on them that they had no backup plan and were moving at the last minute. Since they needed to move that day there was no way for them to hire another company and get them to come out that fast. It is really bad- a bad thing to do to people on Moving day (keep adding charges and holding their furniture hostage). Luckily I make a habit of moving well in advance of when I need to be out.
I'm a mover and when we get booked for only 2 hours and we have to pack a 25 foot truck, we try to finish as fast as we can but when when we get close to the 2 hour mark we usually ask the customer if they want to extend the time for another hour. So far I've gotten 5 stars on my moving.
this is exactly what happened to my family :/ two guys came in, no uniforms or logos, discussed price, which was $2500 they kept our stuff for a MONTH, couldn’t find a number, ended up being ~$4000 instead AND so much stuff was broken. like stuff that’s been in the family for 50 years just. broken. :(

@Jay Bee yeah the most basic fact checking here. im curious what happened to this newer moving company as their tactics sound just like that one linked from 2010
I used to work for a moving company and we didn't charge for heavy stuff or silly stairs we did charge if the estimated time was 6 hours and went over for about 1-3 hours more depending how big the house was but we never had issues or problems with the customer we would often get tips and food👍
Moon Pie I was going to hire them, too, but they quoted me a $700 minimum for two hours and boxes and a studio apartment. That didn't seem worth it to me.
you save on moving fees but then have to replace a bunch of holes in the wall and fix a bunch of your belongings or replace them cause people dont care cause it aint there place or their stuff and then on top of they they are stoned. its not a good combo, ive seen it done. decent for getting the boxes and stuff like that out but leave the bigger stuff and the expensive stuff for you and someone sober lol
I was scammed by a moving company in 2019. I am single mom with 2 small kids and I can't move the furniture myself so I needed their help. They told me no hiden fee but as soon as they came in my house to start the job. They were asking a deposit before moving. When they reach the final destination they said they won't unload unless I paid the remaining balance. I don't I have a choice so I gave them the rest. After paying they started unloading my staff then I went inside the house. After unloading they left most of my staff including furniture outside and they left. They were not professional and break most of my furniture. I called the police but nothing happen. I will never deal with moving company again

An overexaggeration I agree, but I see what she means. When it is the day of your move and your schedule isn't flexible you really do not have a choice. It is almost impossible to find a reputable mover the day of.
@@crackerjackrappr Day-of? Moving schedules often aren't flexible and when you're presented with ridiculous charges day-of you can't just tell your movers to leave and find someone else same-day who can do it right away. People have schedules and can't just dump everything because you didn't want to pay the extra charges from the movers you had already planned on using. If you had a week plus to actually organize it, sure- tell your friends, family, and neighbors that you'll buy them all pizza and drinks if they help you move. But day-of? You're pretty much stuck either paying the charges or hoping it's a national holiday where everyone is off work but nobody is busy celebrating.

I don't know about moving companies but there are a lot of gas stations, restaurants, and small grocery stores that do this here. Basically they 'sell' the business to a family member, change the name, and BAM magically it's a "different" company.

Ñ Ñ well if Indians didn’t scam us Canadians/Americans we probably wouldn’t think that
We didn't have any motor league coverage once in 1989 and needed to have our van towed to a garage.
*UPDATE*
The owner and most of the movers were arrested in 2010. Police said the movers then jettisoned the couple’s belongings onto the street and drove away.”
They got what they deserved. The car he drove which was part of the company was taken. Oh and he was a millionaire on welfare.
Thanks for the update.
This family has been arrested several times for identical charges in different cities around Canada since 2010.

So... at the end of the day their outrageous fees got paid and the moving people are still around ripping people off with different moving company names... Who got the last laugh again?
Idk why they paid... Take them to court like don't say court wasn't worth it? Umm yes it was like why did you film all this and do nothing
Raiden TheKat They found an issue with the black women. She won her case in court

They moved it up four steps and got stuck for half an hour, then admitted they could not move it up any further, and took my advice to roll it around the house.
But in the end, still charged me for the four steps up the stairs.
