@@LoveGodOutloud definitely not true. My mother had a collection from a small car lot that she bought a pickup truck from. It broke down within 2 weeks and she told them pick it up. "We don't have your file anymore" I called the cops on your crew when they tespassed, left my gate open, spread fertilizer and my dog got sick "It doesn't say anything about that in your file"
It does make sense.... There’s a thing called a *JOKE* in which one person says something funny, people laugh and find it funny too, and then someone like you comes along and ruins it, needing someone to explain the joke to them. I’ll do that now. What @Nathan Brisebois said makes sense because the person at Weed Man said that they “didn’t have his file” and then said that “their file doesn’t say anything related to the situation” meaning that the first statement that the person made was false, and the company did in fact have a file on the customer. It is “funny” because the Weed Man representative gave herself up, saying that she was lying.
"What kind of tactics are those?" " We are servicing over 300,000 customers a year." Excellent answer. Second question what is 2+2? "Potato" Nailed it again! Good job.
CosmicPentastar they moved to America and became actors and comedians please Canada please take them back it's like you round up the crappiest people label them and actor and send them to America
Imagine if surgeons operated like this........ "Hey I drugged you against your will and took out your pancreas, because you said 'yes' when I asked you if you liked tacos. Here's a bill for $5000"
I would demand at least two tacos for my pancreas, pointing out that he used the plural of tacos. But of course I would be foolish not to specify the number of tacos in our agreement. Also, I would have an independent doctor verify that he did, in fact, remove my pancreas and not some other organ or even just make an incision without removing anything. If the doctor removed my pancreas and inserted two tacos in it's place, I would be upset but any competent court would rule that the terms of the agreement had been fulfilled as there was no language specifying that the tacos must be consumed orally. The lesson to be learned here is that contracts are tricky and you must attend to details.
that's the famous "we have a lot of customers so, of course we are a good companie", every boss start by this when they're in front of someone accusing theym.
I’m a Mechanic, if they did this to me, I’d change the oil on their truck, and put the bill under the wiperblade, and if they don’t pay, I’ll contact a collection agency for my 300 bucks for an oil change

superunknown ? Canadians do? Nope, I've heard far more Americans seem so patriotic I would have to consider it narcissistic. I'm Canadian and The most Canadian store is Canadian tire that's painted red. Then like the most Canadian clothes tend to have 1 maple leaf and very occasionally it's red. I went to the USA one time and legit in the first 10 minutes driving around I saw 15 people wearing full America flag bathing suits and 2 stores painted as the flag and so many American flags on clothes. (The whole thing was a flag) And we dont brag about this stuff. Also I hear a lot more things like this about America.
@MrLoobu How does that correlate? Do pharmaceutical companies force pills into your home and then force you to pay for them? Nobody is happy with the cost of medications but thats the Governments fault with regulations, deals, and other variables. IF it was treated as a free market then companies would drop their prices just to compete with each other and medications would be more plentiful and inexpensive...but then the people in Government and the heads of companies wouldnt be making as much money... *we cant have that now can we* ??
@@MrLoobu I so agree!! Those Bastards! Go Google the cost of Multiple Sclerosis medication per year! It has gone up so much you'd think the drugs were going extinct.

I stay up usually until they go to school and wake up when they come home. Last 2 weeks I was put on new medications that knock me out.....
Weedman is the worst company ever. The company just suddenly showed up to my house and started working on my lawn a few years ago. I had no idea who they were and had never signed up for any of it and then they just billed me! I disputed the charges but they wouldn't reverse them and then they just showed up at my house several times after that while I was at work and sent me the bill. I refused to pay it so they send it to collections. I nearly went insane trying to rectify this but got no where. I need your help CBC news!
Can you catch them in the act and call the police on them for trespassing? Would you feel comfortable filing a lawsuit? Post a no-trespassing sign that specifies no Weedman and threatens action if they trespass anyway? I feel very American giving these suggestions that seem overly aggressive, but they seem like a predatory company so maybe aggressive is the only option that will work.
I had runins with government agencies incorrectly sending me bills. The way you go about disputing them is much the same. Hassle them as much as possible to get your right. Involve every single law and utilize every bit of leverage you can. It is a long, annoying, tedious and emotional process but coming away with a win is soooooooooooooo worth it. Especially when you know you're in the right.
Remy, I'm not sure if this would work, but maybe you can try filing a dispute with the credit agency? In America we have 3 major credit agencies, I'm not sure how it works in Canada. Call them and file a dispute or claim stating that you never agreed to services. They should open an investigation, and if they do, they'll find this is a common occurance. Hope it gets worked out.
I had a very elderly friend and she complained that a company kept spraying her yard without her asking for this service; she eventually just paid the company, seemed year after year. She was just from a generation that paid their bills, no matter what - even if ripped off.
As somebody who worked as a salesman for this company, its not the salespeople who are shady. We were just doing our jobs and following procedures. Please direct anger at the higher management, who no doubt do some shady stuff. Most weedman sales people are college kids with 0 sales experience such as myself, and when people were rude to me because of what the company does, I was the only one who suffered, not the big guys higher up.
I can't believe a company can just show up and do work you never agreed to and then bill you! On top of all that, send you to collections if you don't pay!! That's just crazy.
Someone should take the up the fight. - just bring a bucket of water, some soap and a brush, then go clean the "weed mans" car, and then leave a bill in their postbox.. redo the job each week and just ad more bills as time go by, and then sue them for not paying the bills !
They need to be sued and asked to provide evidence of such a contract occuring in court. No contract, no sale, no service and no collections. This company should shut down.
I’m so glad I didn’t get the job when I applied for them. I had a great first interview and was scheduled for a second, but then I went home and spoke with my wife. She asked if anything in the chemicals was hazardous/poisonous to me and potentially to her since she is very susceptible to getting sick. I emailed my concerns to the interviewer. To this day, I’ve never gotten a call, email or text from them. There’s my answer!
Everything in life happens for a reason. You got lucky. I've worked too many jobs where it sounded awesome at the interview then...... I wished I never went to the interview.
11:35 I hate it how he deflects the question like that. Politicians have been using that tactic for years. They just go on their usual spiel in order to not answer the question being asked. This reporter should have called him out for that..
Sounded like a well-trained answer with no apologies up front for the situation. As a manager, he should know the law and apologize in person to those people.
I don't understand why companies like this are allowed to continue operation. At the very least, they should be heavily fined, but perhaps even shut down entirely. This truly is an illegal scam.
Just a heads-up: as a former Weed Man employee, I experienced unfair treatment & low pay. Their services can be overpriced & ineffective. I'd advise researching alternatives before working for or hiring them. Be cautious and make informed choices! 👍
If i had the same experience they had i would surely cut out the grass and fill the place with good old cement. Try fertilize the cement bitches ! Big companies are bloodsuckers
When they met with Amanda Bligth and she said she's personally reviewed the call and confirmed the sale, they should have asked to listen to the call there and then so they could hear where she claims Brian said yes to the service. Then watched her fumble over herself about a recording that she suddenly won't have access to. And that's what you call a checkmate.
Yup, nothing but non-answers. The only reason the company sent him out was to counter criticism. Also notice how tall he is, which is intimidating to the interviewer.
The reason he did is because his company isn't responsible for this. Weedman hires company's to do cold calling, and he just supplies the services to supposed "customers". He isn't trying to run in circles, he has no clue what is going on.
So they send bills for services not ordered, then send bills and follow-up with collections? My response would be to send a bill to them for using my lawn, for at least ten times their charge. I'd immediately start calling for collection and I would not stop. Someone might want to check the company's financial statements. A large number of bogus accounts-receivable might constitute fraud.
The Weed Man just showed up to my folks place (they have cancelled services 3 years ago) and tried to spray their lawn! Shared this video with them and hope they chased that guy away
Nico: Upvote sir. Definitely! Being in forced retirement and, having no debt, I wish anyone would try something like this. It is a matter of principle and actually itching for an opportunity to hassle with such people.

Even if they could, based on what I've seen in the States, here's how it would go: Lawyers realize it's a national chain and try to bag the elephant, as the saying goes. They sue the parent company, automatically include all customers as the class, and settle for some multi-million dollar amount that breaks down to $5 per customer (regardless of whether they were harmed or not) in the form of a discount on future service. The company gets off with a manageable payment, the lawyers get rich, and the folks who were screwed by the company are still screwed, but they have a $5 coupon for services from a company they despise.
+Andrew Timm manageable payment, but that doesn't count all the fees for lawyers and court fees. It's a hit to the pocket book. It's not about getting money for the consumer.
These people were calling me and I was ignoring them, deleting the voicemails. Then I got an automated voice mail that my account is overdue. I had to Google what Weedman was, as I had never heard of them. I am supposed to pay a bill for a service I never agreed to, never knew about, nor got an invoice for. And I don't even own this house, my parents do who live here. They have no idea what Weedman is either. I wish I knew how they got my phone number.
voicie1981 peace I really SHOULD be growing it myself... But, I'm too poor to do such a thing. (because it's not worth doing unless done properly, right?)
lyric derbin You also realize the police are trained to lie to you too, right? I agree that both are sad, and I know I'm way off topic, I was just sharing some info that I found disturbing. It makes me wonder if the founders of this company, or the person who trains their sales teams is in law enforcement? Things that make you go "Hmmm?"
heyitschinoable actually they are in the US now. They say they are a "locally owned company" where I am here in northeast ohio. So keep an eye out for the lieing pieces of shit haha
Knolltop Farms hmm yeah that is something interesting to think about. I just had a personal encounter of police lieing right to my face and got caught in the act. They won't drop charges though because they would be sued for wrongful arrest. I personally think it's okay for cops to lie, but only when necessary. What happened to me and my buddy makes him look like a complete idiot. And was all unnecessary.
How? This generation has the weakest stomach when it comes to “cringe” it’s actually embarrassing nah. You’re just autistic who can’t deal with anything normally. You think the most basic stuff is “cringe.” You are part of the generation who have the weakest stomach for “cringe”. It’s actually embarrassing. Pretty sure you think getting a job is cringe. And making money. And about a million other things. But it loses its value since you use it so much. The only thing that makes me “cringe” is cardboard scraping cardboard, but I just call it misophonia. The fact that I only have one thing that makes that reaction in me gives actual worth to the word. So I doubt you actually cringed when you saw a cartoon. You probably don’t even know what it’s like to cringe.
When I used to work as a spray Technician, I was always told to be careful that we don't spray a lawn that wasn't a customer's. It's classified as chemical trespass and have huge repercussions. Such as fines from the Department of Agriculture and possibly being sued if any damage was done.
No need to shoot anyone, but I can guarantee if you calmly show the tech your gun and explain that if he steps foot on your property again you will shoot him, I doubt he'll risk that for a $15/job
Its crazy to see this 5 years later. My dad has been in the hospital since march and never asked for weedman services but they showed up in the summer and sprayed his grass. He had no clue until he received a notice from a collection agency. I never bothered to fight it and just paid it off for him. They are obviously continuing their shady practices.
They are still doing it. I am not sure what to do at this point. How can a business have such power over us with the credit brio that is the question. How can credit biro just accept any claim with it t any prof and ruin your score?!
@@lominero5lol yea why doesn't someone go do the same thing to their lawn. Throw some fertilizer on it, send them a bill and submit to collections so they can deal with the same sh*t
I used to work as a call center agent/supervisor that was contracted for the Weedman. We were taught to just get a yes no matter what for lawn estimates. We had a pages of rebuttals to any situation and worked ridiculously long hours. The call center name was 24-7 In Touch out of Regina SK. I always had a feeling that the company was shady as that same call center was hired for hundreds of other shady companies. Weed Man was our biggest contract though at the time. I feel terrible for being part of such a corrupt and lying company. I apologized to anyone who I got a yes from due to high pressure and faced situations like the hero's in this video. I am so glad I no longer am a part of this corruption and deceit! Marketplace should do an investigation on 24-7 In Touch call center. Talk about a place of lies and corruption. It is where all these type of companies go to hire a call center to deal with their angry and cheated customers.
Oh, they'll amaze you. They're simply asking if you want to be amazed by the number of services you never ordered that they force on you, by the bill that shows up for those services, or the brain melting price on the bill. Oh, and don't forget the shameless, manipulative, insulting "Customer Service Representatives". This company is absolute trash.
It’s called a hard sales tactic, if you’re selling a great item to customers who are in need of what you’re selling, this is a very effective way to sell. However, this is plain scamming people.
It must be nice to be able to conduct business this way. I mean, you buy it, whether you want it or not, or it goes to collection. Imagine if Walmart did that to us, or McDonalds placing a Big Mac on our doorstep, everyday, without even ordering it, but sending us the invoice afterwards.
One of these douchebags came up to my door when I was at work, opened my screen door, banged on my front door so hard I could hear it through my backyard camera on the other side of my house behind a closed door. Add to that, he left my screen door open on a windy day and now its damaged. Lovely people.
We Americans have a better way of solving these problems. Guy walks onto my lawn he is greeted by my shotgun. Works every time and no negotiations needed.
My dog it is still illegal to shoot someone in America they still have gun laws. If there is an unarmed trespassers (girl scouts, weedman, door to door sales man, neighbor, even a argument that doesn't threaten your live and you shot one of them you would be at fault for murder even if it did take part on your property. But if someone comes into your property with a knife, gun, broken into your house or you feel unsafe is when you are allowed to use your weapons.
I just hang up the phone when someone calling my house that sounds like a sale man or advertisement. If I need them I will call them. These companies are smart. They will take everything from us and make rich men richer.
9:58 Acceptance of the offer must be unconditional (a signature on a contract) and it must be communicated. Any negotiations between the parties are counter-offers, not acceptance.
Here we are in 2019 and our local Weedman office is like a sprayed weed ~ gone a couple years ago. The office has closed for well over two years now, the trucks all gone on 11 Grand Marshall Drive in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. Pro Deck took over the office and yard, and then they since moved to Rylander Blvd. (couple blocks east of Grand Marshall). Now Serenity Decks have taken over that place. So happy after seeing this video that they were run out of business. For those living in the USA and wondering why they are watching this, it is a warning to never let them settle in your neighbourhood if they ever head south of our border. Best ever trick, cement the law and spray it green!! LOL
we had a similar problem in Wisconsin, i don't remember the company name , something close to true green . They came over for one spray and after that , they were called and told we were not interested in any more after we paid it . They kept showing up and billing us . They were paid again and after that , we notified them we were moving and they stopped
I am a citizen of the US and hubby is Canadian and a Permanent Resident here. I watch news services from other countries because I am a fence sitter. Different government styles could be mixed to get the most from a government and provide the best citizenry to the government. Besides, I respect Canada, they gave me the best man I have ever met! Tha and the CBC kills it with their honest news, tips and tricks. Austrailia and the UK are a few of the others I watch. If it is in english, I tap into the feed. If I get stressed out my body does bad and dangerous things so I just click it all away and talk about the weather. So do all Canadians have an obsession with weather? Hubby's entire family start conversations with weather in order to compare. Cute.
When I was living in the USA we had scots lawn care send a letter stating they had been and accessed our lawn and that it would only cost $.... per ...... to care for our lawn (can remember the exact dollar or time frame) however.... when my husband brought the property it was all trees, he carved out just enough for the house and driveway. We had NO lawn!!! Not a single blade of grass to be cut. Lol it made me laugh, some companies are so full of it.
drkmgic weed man got caught selling weed and is serving a 5 year sentence, but by now he is out and attempting to improve his life and services, but sadly it is failing due to his criminal record.
I worked for their call center in Whitby for less than a week. I quit when they told me to just renew each customers contract if they don't answer the phone or didnt specifically say NO
***** ROFL, nice one! I know it's not for great reasons, but I can guarantee this wouldn't happen in the USA. Not because we aren't getting reamed by big corporations in many other ways, but because many folks would shoot any uninvited person on their property...and often be protected by the law for it. Crazy I know, and I'm not bragging that's for sure, but there is a real difference just across the border as to how private property and trespass are defined as well. The guy going into someones backyard would easily be considered as taking his/or her life into their own hands. I guess that motto from the Gadsden Flag declaring "Don't tread on Me" must apply to a person's lawn as well, LOL! Personally our yard is not only just native grasses and wildflowers, at least in the Spring, it is now crunchy and a golden brown color that would send any "Weed Man" scurrying away. The rocky soil would repel any signs they tried to post quicker than the threat of gun-play too. Thanks again for the laugh, I always enjoy well played sarcasm, it relaxes my trigger finger ;)
karl love look your (WEED MAN'S) tactics are the equivalent of reverse theft of services and is a total scam , to enforce services of any consumer w/o consent is a total racket . go do this shit to your family members and friends , let us know how well that goes !! btw any relation to MesSage EnVy where as you sign anything and they figure your committed for life like it or not !! shhhh ... BS great place but BULLSHIT tactics !!!!!
rick dubya No he's right. We have stand your ground and castle doctrine. We don't know what they're on, we don't know their motives, we don't know if they're armed or what they are capable of, but if we give them ample warnings and they don't heed those, we have the right to get them to leave in a body bag. It is regrettable, but it is for the safety of the residents. That is why America is great. The right to life, liberty and prosperity can not be infringed upon without a court issued warrant. The only way to truly enforce that right is with the 2nd amendment.
I love how the like chief who runs all the branches is just avoiding the question and being really vague so you can’t take his words and put them against him
Warning shots are a terrible idea, any firearm discharge you are responsible of and that is a terrible thing to teach people. If it comes to a point where you must use lethal force to threaten or intimidate then you should use a non-lethal for of defense (or offense) instead like pepper spray but only after repeated harassment - first you should consult a lawyer or your local authorities.
we had something like this near me but with hvac guy would snip hvac lines then leave buisness cards on mailboxes guy got a bullet to the neck when cutting lines to the home for the 2nd time
Yet again, they fixed the issues with the handful they were interviewing but a company that size is just going to keep doing what's making them money to anyone not luck enough to have a film crew follow them around. Sure they are spreading awareness, but unless all of us watching do our part as well this is just exploitation of the exploited for money..
These things happens in all over the world and its so nice to see CBC is educating and showing the pain of people and helping . This is what we need more in the world

And u would need a new pancreas
and the guy who got the surgery said he didnt even like tacos

Call them up and ask if the sky is blue, once they say yes, Take their truck tires and send them a bill for the work.
@@MG-ks1qg your comment made me LOL!
Remy, I'm not sure if this would work, but maybe you can try filing a dispute with the credit agency? In America we have 3 major credit agencies, I'm not sure how it works in Canada. Yup, nothing but non-answers. The only reason the company sent him out was to counter criticism. Also notice how tall he is, which is intimidating to the interviewer.
He's clearly consulted a PR/legal firm
The reason he did is because his company isn't responsible for this. Weedman hires company's to do cold calling, and he just supplies the services to supposed "customers". He isn't trying to run in circles, he has no clue what is going on.
So they send bills for services not ordered, then send bills and follow-up with collections?
My response would be to send a bill to them for using my lawn, for at least ten times their charge. I'd immediately start calling for collection and I would not stop.
Someone might want to check the company's financial statements. A large number of bogus accounts-receivable might constitute fraud.

Add to that, he left my screen door open on a windy day and now its damaged. Lovely people.
We Americans have a better way of solving these problems. Guy walks onto my lawn he is greeted by my shotgun. Works every time and no negotiations needed.
Another jealous Canadian here. Love you guys in the US.
Can't you get arrest for this due to your country gun laws?
@@AngelEmfrbl well in America a trespasser can legally be shot
My dog it is still illegal to shoot someone in America they still have gun laws. If there is an unarmed trespassers (girl scouts, weedman, door to door sales man, neighbor, even a argument that doesn't threaten your live and you shot one of them you would be at fault for murder even if it did take part on your property.
But if someone comes into your property with a knife, gun, broken into your house or you feel unsafe is when you are allowed to use your weapons.
Patty Jimenez unless you live in NYS with all their hogwash.
I just hang up the phone when someone calling my house that sounds like a sale man or advertisement. If I need them I will call them. These companies are smart. They will take everything from us and make rich men richer.
If Anyone Calls And It Says "No Name" I Just Decline It
I answer the call and speak in French. They go absolutely crazy, especially when they are indian call centres
MattyBWraps I speak in Japanese
Mixings
The Emoji Movie brehhh😂LMBO
LOL
Kevin Twaite sadly I see weedman trucks every now and then here in Cincinnati Ohio US
we had a similar problem in Wisconsin, i don't remember the company name , something close to true green . They came over for one spray and after that , they were called and told we were not interested in any more after we paid it . They kept showing up and billing us . They were paid again and after that , we notified them we were moving and they stopped
Here in Idaho, they tried to recruit kids in high school. They would literally advertise IN THE SCHOOL. I don't know how they even got away with that.
That CEO should be a politician. He totally evaded the question.
michael mixon it would've been even better if he added that other lawn service companies are much worse and CBC should focus on them
He is actually the COO (Chief Operating Officer)
I need an update on weedman scandal.
drkmgic weed man got caught selling weed and is serving a 5 year sentence, but by now he is out and attempting to improve his life and services, but sadly it is failing due to his criminal record.
hahaha
drkmgic my sister actually got a weedman Bill but we haven't paid it and so far nothing has happened
I worked for their call center in Whitby for less than a week. I quit when they told me to just renew each customers contract if they don't answer the phone or didnt specifically say NO
You need to contact the CPB and let them know that. Please. Companies like this won't quit until people stand up to them.
wow now we see one way these thieves operate..their hand picked so called collection agency needs to be investigated also
One dislike. Probably somebody from Weed Man.
Yea. Probably
This comment is my favorite! I was thinking the exact same thing XD
suvariboy 20 dislikes now were only getting bigger
Thanks again for the laugh, I always enjoy well played sarcasm, it relaxes my trigger finger ;)
suvariboy 60 Weed man employies.. xD
What a bunch of a-holes. I hope they lose a lot of customers after this.
Lb
Xenophene01 we are only getting bigger were even expanding into the usa you cant stop us
karl love
we'll see .....
karl love look your (WEED MAN'S) tactics are the equivalent of reverse theft of services and is a total scam , to enforce services of any consumer w/o consent is a total racket . go do this shit to your family members and friends , let us know how well that goes !!
btw any relation to MesSage EnVy where as you sign anything and they figure your committed for life like it or not !! shhhh ... BS great place but BULLSHIT tactics !!!!!
rick dubya
No he's right.
I think I will pass on your offer for cheap and affordable weed.
"I came back home a week later and there was another gram in my mailbox."
Drake my Josh Haha yep
Lol
Vitamin S But I swear officer, I never ordered it!
I love how the like chief who runs all the branches is just avoiding the question and being really vague so you can’t take his words and put them against him
This is why we're allowed guns people. Use them!!
I'm not saying shoot them but scare them away and sue them
Warning shots are a terrible idea, any firearm discharge you are responsible of and that is a terrible thing to teach people. If it comes to a point where you must use lethal force to threaten or intimidate then you should use a non-lethal for of defense (or offense) instead like pepper spray but only after repeated harassment - first you should consult a lawyer or your local authorities.
@P. Spit Yeah, at least sick the dog on them. Good enough.
@P. Spit they aren't just stepping onto a lawn, they are breaking onto a personal property, stealing money, and ruining credit.
One rule I use with my gun is if you point it at someone be planning on using it. Otherwise, keep it holstered.
Bruh
we had something like this near me but with hvac guy would snip hvac lines then leave buisness cards on mailboxes guy got a bullet to the neck when cutting lines to the home for the 2nd time
Hell yeah! Amazing. Can you send me a news story on it
it was in one of the police crime blotter magazines they sell at the gas station in south carolina
john leininger lol must be a joke, very funny joke indeed
Yet again, they fixed the issues with the handful they were interviewing but a company that size is just going to keep doing what's making them money to anyone not luck enough to have a film crew follow them around. Sure they are spreading awareness, but unless all of us watching do our part as well this is just exploitation of the exploited for money..
These things happens in all over the world and its so nice to see CBC is educating and showing the pain of people and helping . This is what we need more in the world
THEY ARE SHOWING US BUT DOING LITTLE
