A decent number of these guys are actually great at what they do.
For what its worth, a flapper chain issue, means i'm changing the flapper. Just adjusting a chain is a callback waiting to happen.
Exactly. I do appliance repair and if a machine malfunctions its usually a failed part or an intermittent issue. Not changing the part results in a pissed customer and call back like 90% of the time.
Agreed, especially considering the price of a new flapper vs the cost of a call back

$793 for a toilet, $900 for a faucet and one of them pisses in the sink.
The faucet confused me. Why would he want to rebuild the "broken" faucet when just replacing it would cost like $100 plus labor... its a standard single hole pull out faucet!!!

Good you deserve a cookie
The tight chain to the flapper of the toilet is a pretty tricky issue because it would have always leaked from the time of install. Visually it would look as though the flapper is closed and it is nearly an impossibility that the chain could over tighten itself and cause a problem. It is much more likely the flapper needs to be changed and it is extremely inexpensive.
this is actually a really good point

On the plumbers side most plumbers are not going to assume sabotage in their diagnosis, and would assume the chain length was working before fine so it should not need to be diagnosed as so unless they were told the homeowner messed around with it to fix on their own.
Sometimes customers don’t tell you when they messed with something, I’ve had a guy watch me for 1.5 hours trying to diagnose his furnace and I found out he wired it wrong lol

These stories are absolutely great. This should be setup/broadcast in every city. License insured companies are quite expensive. Being a homeowner these days you better make decent money. My brother just bought a house in Seattle Washington. Some of the repairs he just had done oh my God I could not believe the amount of money he spent. We are now RUclips repairman. Lol. No question this is a problem Nationwide probably worldwide. It's a roll of the dice the type of help you receive. But when you get an honest repair man you better keep his number and spread the word.
I love how they got after the guy who replaced the flapper and didn't seem very satisfied that he made a simple mistake and over looked the problem. I'd like to see these people go out into the trades and get a different perspective
The chain is the easiest fix and usually culprit for the for a running toilet. Can't see the flapper is bad with out seeing the chain.... but if all he charged was 13 no labor they need to give him a ham sammich

No idea what is so hard to ask to use the bathroom. Repair men work men do it at mine all the time. It's more disrespectful to not ask n go like that for the customer at their own home to clean up. Going outside is illegal this should be too. The first guy felt like a perv to me the second guy felt like a dominate the place. I understand if they are constantly on the job and don't get a rest break. Just ask. It won't hurt.
OMG...How hard is it to ask you use the bathroom. I seriously cant believe these people.
+Tyler Pearson Pigs
+Tyler Pearson I actually clicked on this video kind of expecting to see something like this. It's extremely common. I used to do plumbing work with my friend and his grandpa, we pissed in potted plants, sinks, you name it. We were told that it's rude to ask to use their bathroom. Lol. Like it's not rude to piss in their plants and sinks. Eh. We were kids. Didn't understand. Still not entirely sure why he refused to use their bathrooms.
you said If a repairman asked to use my bathroom, they are welcome. Then again, I live in the country so there are plenty of trees out there.haha My late Husband was a brickmason who subbed work. We did residential and commercial. So many weeks I would drop the bills off and pick the checks up at the builders and they had memo's attached. The memo was concerning the use of the new bath tubs, sinks and toilets being used way before the water was turned on to the homes. These were in brand new subdivisions where they could urinate on any tree. Any crew caught using the fixtures were fired. My late Husband told his crew, you piss in the tub, or anywhere in the house, you piss your job with him away. He fired two guys for urinating in the tub. These were brand new homes. When the brick is going up, the sheetrock isn't even finished on the interior. So this happens all over. They are pigs, plain and simple. Pigs with no respect for themselves, their jobs or for anyone else.
Helen Kruse Yeah, I did electrician work with a guy who taught me way more respect than the plumber did. If I hadn't broken my femur, I'd probably still be doing that work.
you said I am sorry to hear about your injury. Some people are just naturally pigs and have no respect. They do this to others, and treat people like trash in other ways and think it's funny, yet when it is done to them, they go beserk. Like the old saying goes, "You can dish it out, but you can't take it" fits those type to a tee. Hope you aren't still down with your injury and if so, get well soon,if not, either way, I wish you the best in all you have to do and all that is here and now and things to come.

As a service person who works in homes I give you some tips:
1) Check reviews and BBB ratings

it was their choice to accept payment or otherwise smh
Devontae Weaver I agree
They did get money.
The $100 angers some people, but it's necessary because of gas prices and time not spent on problem jobs that do require attention.
When a plumber turns up they're not looking for sabotage, if you're told "it just keeps running after it's flushed". First thought would be: needs a new siphon, not: somebody has messed with it.

Basically, this proves that reputable independent companies and locally owned companies are way more consistent than national chains.
Probably told by higher ups to make as much money as possible
@@Kni0002 or just make a commission
Yeah and a local guy probably wouldn’t be so bold as to pee in your coffee cup.
Most likely because national chains have many sources of income from various locations and use their brand as a ‘verification’ that they know what they’re talking about. Plus, they can afford to lose a customer here or two over large charges.
Local owned business can’t afford to lie, deceive, or push faulty product because they’ll go out of business fast.
If a single location of a huge chain goes down In flames, sure; the higher ups lose some money but they don’t untimely go out of business. Unlike family/local owned business.
Seriously me and brother own a plumbing company and we do great honest work but I can see further down the future hiring trust worthy people will be hard not to mention commission incentives, I personally know someone from a chain and the amount he needs to sell is ridiculous they're salesmen with wrenches
To be fair 90% of the time a toilet is running like that it needs a new flapper valve. No one would expect someone to tighten the chain nefariously.
I understand the idea of a repairman replacing the toilet parts even if they may not be required. I also understand the recommendation of a newer, more water-efficient toilet. If you show up and do anything, a completely different problem days or weeks later becomes your fault because you were the last to touch it.
I installed a tile kitchen countertop in a home and was called back days later on a Sunday night because the phones were not working. The problem was that lightning fried the computer modem, but in the mind of the homeowner since I had removed the telephone jack when tiling the kitchen backsplash, the phone problem was caused by something I did.

When I was working as an electrician, plenty of times I needed to pee. You ask to use the bathroom. Never had a client say no. Better the toilet than a bucket in the garage.

The lesson learned from several of these: the local dude is probably better than the chain place.
Ok, toilet flush chains don't just shorten themselves. I've seen them break and Ive seen them get caught on the lever inside, but failing to recognize something that never ever happens except by 'toilet sabotage' is a somewhat honest mistake.
***** And actually, most of those guys tried to replace the flapper. That usually is what goes bad, *especially* on older toilets. The rubber gets oxidized and hard and warps to the point where gets stuck moving up and down or won't make a seal.
For that matter, with the faucet, they don't just come unscrewed on their own.
Notice that the only problem that does actually happen, the dish washer drain line getting plugged, was correctly diagnosed by all of them (if I remember).
+htomerif True. I thought the same thing. These things don't do themselves.
If you already have something breaks down. Do it in a smart way.
Yea they were too harsh on that guy he didn't do anything wrong.
I would have sold them a flapper! the only reason the chain would be tighter would be if somebody was in there to try and stop the water running and had no idea what they were doing. a flapper is a small part that is a guaranteed fix even after I left.
The faucet nut can loosen on its own. It's happened on my kitchen faucet and I have to keep tightening it every so often. So that can happen. The toilet chain is odd though, like you said.
wtf why the hell don't they confront anyone about urinating all over the place? canadian politeness?
I think it was a strategic decision. Confronting them, particularly the second guy with the unnecessary circuit board, would give them a grievance to use to side track the question of fraud. They would accuse the investigators of violating their "privacy" while peeing in an inappropriate place. They wouldn't have a case but we would be deprived of hearing them lie about committing fraud.
The first guy's name is, Jerry Bance. Just Google that name. I don't want to ruin the surprise for you.

Love to see a group like this in USA.
Honestly, a lot of companies have strict policies against using customers bathrooms (even if you ask them). This is because a lot of repairmen / utility workers have been accused of theft (often medication), so it's easier just to have your employees use public bathrooms or go inside of a container / bottle in your work van. One company I used to work for (a cable provider) used to issue us these bags that you'd piss in (you'd go in the back of your van), it gels up / deodorizes, and you just throw it away in a dumpster or in a can at a gas station, they were actually pretty cool. I wish I could remember what the hell they were called.
To be honest, there's not really anything that would pull that chain and cause it to tighten with normal use. It makes sense to diagnose it as a problem with another part when the real issue isn't one that happens.
+Noah Agosta You talking about the peein?
+Noah Agosta Agreed

+Noah Agosta I'm the farthest thing from a plumber and I knew that a running toilet can be caused by a chain that doesn't have enough slack. It should have been the first thing checked. Inexcusable
+Holder Bee The only thing that causes the chain to get tight like that is if someone does it. Toilet chains do not magically get tight, so it's not something the plumbers would assume is wrong. I see that as an honest mistake. One person even suspected something was up and fixed it for a $13 part, I doubt the profit margins on a $13 part is high enough to pull something when you are suspicious.
good thing best buy doesn't do plumbing they would tell you that you need a new house.
+roadkill517
LOL
LOL thats a good one...
"You have a broken light... yeahhh we going to have to throw the full house out"
I'm not a handyman but I have figured out how to fix dozens of things in my home by watching RUclips videos. Fixed a washer, dryer, disposal, toilets, and garage door. There is so much information on RUclips if you are just willing to learn.
He should have asked where the bathroom is, but you would be surprised at how many homeowners don't want "the help" to be using their bathroom.
Moral of the story,
Dishwasher repair men are the most trustworthy
Saucey Tony Theyll fix it but piss in your cups
Saucey Tony for me, it’s my neighbour, he’s real nice and likes to help me repair stuff.
I have experience as both the customer and as the repairman going to people's homes. As the customer, you have no idea who is coming into your home. Conversely, when I was a repairman, some customers were so strange I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there.
Any stories?
Agree wholeheartedly. I could tell dozens of those stories, LOL
@@benfucrin4217 go into heat and air, or plumbing. You’ll have stories within 5 days. You have no idea how many hoarders live within a 15 mile radius of you.
It is tricky on both ends. I've known a few repairmen who tell me they don't engage in small talk about there personal lives because they don't know who the customer is.
I went into a home back when I used to fix computers that was kinda remote... I thought the guy was a serial killer... he just looked and acted creepy.. turns out he was a cool guy.. but I was super nervous at first.
I think replacement flapper is fine honestly, that's something that should be replaced every so often anyways. It's like if you change the oil on your car, you might as well change the oil filter at the same time.
14:00 “damn! My sink blew a head gasket!”
The transmission fluid is brown and smells burnt.
Del best comment XD
😂😂😂
Nice reference lol
Del lol
It should be a bright pink.
Started with the oil scam video now onto this... SAY GOODBYE TO THE REST OF MY NIGHT lol
I've been a technician for over a decade...I almost NEVER see anything shady like this, certainly not with the companies I've worked for. If someone messes up, a coworker will call you out whether the customer is there or not...at least in my field. -USA
wow the guy was honest im so happy you give me faith buddy thank you
This is basically how we interview software engineers. We give them things that should be trivial for someone experienced, and you'd be shocked how many people have trouble.
I was doing a technical interview where they asked me how to find if a character appears in a string or not. And I asked "and do what with it?" and they were like "IDK, return true or false?" It made me nervous because I thought I was getting punked or I was missing something obvious.
I am having that problem right now with hiring software engineers. lol
@@shawniscoolerthanyou what’s the answer JC
I have been in such an interview once and I completely messed up because I was simply too nervous to think properly. The question seemed so trivial to me that I thought I was missing something obvious so I ended up giving a way too long and complicated answer to a simple task/question. I like the idea of doing tests like this in job interviews but please remember that the person being interviewed is under a lot of stress there so even things you could easily do every day might suddenly become very difficult in such a situation.
The best way to do a job interview. The test!
Why didn't he just ask where the bathroom was?
One of life's great mysteries...
This show is fantastic
🤣🤣🤣John the third plumber kept up selling even when he was caught. I give him props for commitment.
I think mohesh was actually trying hard to do a good job when he soaked the floor.
I actually felt bad for him
*I agree!*
yes he got carried away after all they charge also by the hour
She got her floor cleaned LoL
So ripping people off or damaging their property is okay with you as long as his heart is pure???
I'm a licensed plumber of 17 years and watching this makes me sick!
Ken Ferner the 2nd guy that fixed the sink and then said a 13 dollar part I honestly believe he just overlooked the chain being tight...I do not think he was intentionally trying to scam her.
Ken..theres a reason you've been in business for 17 years. A good work reputation. Not many can say that. Congrats!
@@gbs1548 I felt that way with a couple of them, Just because 1 person who made the fault knows exactly what the fault is doesn't mean its the first thing another man checks If you really are only going for the small parts that look like they're causing the issue you can't exactly say they are scamming them, The guys like the garage guys who seen the sensors and realigned them as well as then changing the circuit board is fair enough, Or the guy who said you need a whole new tap or toilet, Those are the scammers but you can't put every one of these in the same boat, Some just overlooked the issue. The chain one really gets me as if someone called you out and the toilet was always working but then all of a sudden is continued to flush, You wouldn't think oh the chain has been re-adjusted, Why would you? You would physically have to do that and why would they need a repairman if that was the case
As an older woman, i love this cannel. ty
I like how almost every garage door repairman has the exact same truck and set up lol
