Am I the only one that can not defend an expensive almost 100% POLYESTER dress? It's such a bad, cheap fabric...
yes u are! :D
1. They are not that big of a brand.
2. They are paying people livable salaries.
3. They are trying to provide as many recycled materials as possible. (It's pretty expensive)
4. They are paying the people providing the materials decently.
I think it's pretty justifiable
@@Mariam-do6jq nono, polyester is 100% bad, always XD
I get that recycled material is like the hot thing right now but as much as the rest of their practices are cool I would so much rather have a natural fiber that is healthier for both skin and planet. Recycled polyester is just expensive polyester. @@Mariam-do6jq
Not the unfinished jump 😭😂
✨aaAaahhhAaaa✨
I laughed so hard omfg
that took me out
❗❗
i LOVE the fact that you are so passionate about giving brands the credit that they deserve. thank you mia for being one of the best youtubers on planet earth. i love you ❤️
You should do a whole video on AYM! They also have some dresses made of bamboo which is sooo soft and comfy and sustainable!! They have shirts, skirts, different dresses… I would LOOOVE to see you review several of their pieces!!
Bamboo fabric is the BEST!
Yeah I do have a problem with the fact that dress is polyester that Mia is showing right now. I just don't think it's environmentally good, even if it is from such a sustainable company. Bamboo is nice cuz it's both sustainable, breathable and always so comfy.
Yessss I've been asking for this to happen for so long now!!
Ohh yes! In that video, how about some info on bamboo? I’ve been told several times that it’s just rayon. I’d love some unbiased facts - especially since she has experience making clothes. (Mostly, I’d like to not feel like a bamboo/rayon dunce lol!)
It’s so sad but bamboo is really bad.. because it’s a sort of wood, so to make it in to fabric they do a huge chemical polluting process and in most of that productions they dump it in nature..
The unfinished jump is my new favorite version of that transition
Glad you did a full on video! Showing the difference between a quality garment that will be a favorite for years and sweatshop garbage that will end up in a landfill is so important. Cheaper isn't always the better choice.
So is assuming everyone can afford a nearly $200 dress. Sustainability really is a privilege. Even thrift shops are full of SHEIN. Do I want a nice dress or do I want to eat for the next two weeks
@@25archivesss I've found beautiful and normally expensive pieces from consignment stores (a gorgeous $70 chiffon halter for $15)! They're usually more curated than your average thrift store and so are a tad more expensive, but still comparatively very affordable! Plus, spending a bit more on one piece than the same amount for a bunch of pieces really helps naturally cut down on overconsumption, which is part and parcel of sustainability!
@@madsyxx to a degree, sure. If you "save up" for an expensive wardrobe what are you going to buy and wear in the meantime? your birthday suit? Also, there are a lot more people living hand to mouth these days and for a fact - they cannot save up to buy expensive clothes (not WILL not - CANNOT). I think having more understanding of people who are just trying to live within their means is a good thing, talking down to someone just because they can't afford sustainable fashion (which is a privilege to some people) isn't going to help anyone.
@@25archivesssI don’t think they meant it that way
I think they meant it towards people who CAN afford more expensive clothing and buy the cheaper one for convenience
@@MaxRide1 I'm not talking down! I'm in the same boat, I don't make a lot of money. I just wear some of my older clothes while building up a wardrobe I love that will hopefully last me years after I get it. I would honestly say that the only real sacrifice that comes with that approach is not being able to be on trend, but that can be a positive thing too because I've found my own style that way. I totally support being wise with your money and understand that saving or incremental spending isn't option for some, but I've met a few people who've just needed a perspective shift, so I'm just trying to offer a different perspective :)
Glad you did a video on the real creators of the dresses.... BUT an almost 100% polyester summer dress sounds like a sweaty nightmare to me and not like great material. Recycled or not, polyester is really not the best choice.
Yeah, I'd personally go with the ones that at least have flowy sleeves (like the one in the video). A lot of them have very fitted sleeves, I can imagine my armpit sweat patches making a real statement.
I would never pay over 100 dollars for polyester. No matter how ethically sourced it is. Polyester is one of the worst fabrics out there. It is so unbreathable. I don't know. That might just be.
Totally agree🙌
Idk im totally okay with buying polyester as long as it’s recycled or secondhand. There’s so much polyester out there already so we might as well keep using it if we can 🤷♀️
Yeah, I thought it was so weird that they were all about durability, longevity, quality... none of that says "polyester" to me.
Exactly my thoughts. Their concept makes no sense to me. Use better fabrics if you’re charging that much.
Agree, it’s everyday dress, I can’t imagine smell under arm area after few washes, and for that price, it’s big no for me!
For the fabric that has been used this is way overpriced.
Love that you’re giving the creator of the dress the recognition they deserve. These knockoffs are ridiculous on so many levels.
Listen, i applaud them trying to recycle but still paying 185$ for a poliester dress is too much (considering that polyester is cheap and not hygenic).
Agree
You’re paying for the time taken to make it as well as the materials, tools, and in part the brand; when you add it all up, plus the fact that companies still want to make a profit once everyone’s been paid and everything’s been bought, it makes sense.
Capitalism is designed in a way that forces lower income folks to buy bad quality items several times over and over... actually paying more over time. You, as the individual consumer, are expected to take on the burden of buying ethically instead of the actual companies that are single handedly killing our planet. Make no mistake, it is NOT the individual's responsibility to take on this burden. It's the greedy fucks who make billions in a year. They CAN lower their profit margins and still pay people a livable wage, but they won't.
Yes, i no longer wear polyester when possible because it starts smelling bad. It's all about natural fibers when I can!
@@melza822in my opinion even with those factors it doesn’t make sense for a basic looking polyester garment.
The real dress is so pretty and it looks so soft, it's hugging your body so nicely too.
185 dollars for a dress made of POLYESTER
I understand you but paying employees fairly in this economy is pretty expensive and it will become more and more expensive as times progress
It's so wonderful that you DID do a full on video about the real dress because it was worth it! The real dress is stunning, the quality just shows through, and it looks beautiful on you, Mia! x
You do know that just because a company says they pay their employees more than a living wage doesnt make it true. I used to work for a company in property management that claimed they paid higher than a livjng wage. They did not even pay close to a prevailing wage. Every level was under paid. Got the experience i needed and left. Now i make a very good wage on a secure contract.
Love your video, just want to point out that recycled polyester is actually made from plastic water bottles and stuff that is made from similar plastic. Those bottles could have been recycled. But recycling them into clothes ends their lifecycle. So recycling polyester isn’t good for the environment.( hope you understand what I mean because English isn’t my first language)
This reminds me of how I feel about crocheted garments. I've been crocheting for 11 years, and I can tell you, anyone who's crocheting an item for a big department store is _not_ being paid properly for the amount of work that it takes. Unlike knitting, crochet cannot be done on machines, it _has_ to be done by hand, and so everything that you see on the market right now was made in someone's hands with a hook one stitch at a time. I don't buy anything crocheted unless it's from a small creator like an Etsy seller, because the potential for sweatshop environments and underpayment is not just high, but nearly inescapable. I saw a crocheted bandana in Hot Topic a little while ago and I almost just burst into tears.
Love crocheting. Making garments is the reason I wanted to learn. The potential is unlimited.
Mia, can you do a video trying other AYM clothing? All their products look so nice!
omg I would love to see this
Yesss
Omg, some of their dresses have pockets too! Hope she decides to review more of them :)
Yes, please!
This brand can do a lot better , for that price, and for sustainability they should only be using cotton or a blend using mostly cotton which helps to get stretchy fabrics that are healthier for out skin and less contaminating. I hate synthetic fabrics :( not only are they bad for our health and environment but also makes it so the garment doesn’t age well, the textile starts getting damaged quickly opposed to natural fibers.
bamboo fiber would be a highly sustainable, eco-friendly option. and far more comfortable
Mia-Polyester is one of the least sustainable fabrics
Also Mia-60% Recycled Polyester is nice
Bruh....
"It smells so nice, it kinda smells like my mom" was such a sweet thing to say
I get what you’re saying about ethical products, but… polyester, really? For a summer dress?
i‘m so happy people like you use their platform for a good reason. keep on being you. this is a very important issue and i‘m so glad u‘re raising awareness about it. much love 🥰
I ordered my bridesmaids dress from AYM in the Venus style! I can’t waiiiitttt!!!
The real dress is so pretty and you look gorgeous on it (well, you look gorgeous with the fake one as well). I think you can really tell what's the fake one because it does look like not a good quality on camera, specially the lower part of the dress, definitely not as nice as the real one. Also great for the brand to be actually sustainable! Love your videos 💖
I love everything bout this video. The fact that your community spotted the fake in the other video is awesome because it’s nearly impossible nowadays to track every scam item online. And I love that you created a video highlighting the real brand and comparing it to the fake. I’d never heard of the real brand and now I want that dress!
The AYM dress looks so good on you!! ❤
It's good that they're using recycled polyster but even that isn't really sustainable! It still releases microplastics and it still won't biodegrade for hundreds of years
Is there a tornado warning? Yes. But did Mia upload a video? Yes, the tornado can wait
LOL oh my gosh, are you okay?
this is so real
You can watch Mia in the basement! No need to worry :D
I’m so glad you did this video. I learned about recycle fabric that I had not known. I love your ethnics and your passion for what you believe. I always look forward to Friday and your videos. ❤
Omg same 😂
I'm so grateful you made this video. Great message, intention and a pleasure to watch. The quality and intention of your videos are always spot on. I am always excited when I see you've posted literally anything. You are someone special. 🌟💖
ah! i’ve never been so quick for a video, so excited love your content always mia 💜
So excited for this video!!! Love you Mia ❤
Yippee a new upload!!! So excited :')
Speaking of the grandma energy merch, I really hope you come out with some more mercy with that on it! It’s such a mood!!!
Yess Mia! So happy that your supporting the real brands instead of the fake ones!
Im so hyped. u did a video on aym. The girl in the video is Allie. She's the founder and designer. Im in the Uk, own many dresses, and i LOVE them. Would 100% recommend them to anyone thinking about it.
Love your content, Mia! It would be great to see an entire haul from this company! Love from Nova Scotia ❤
Your videos are everything that I need after a tough day... Love you!! ❤Kisses from Ireland
I ran to this video so fast!! I love your videos, and i love that you appreciate the efforts people put into being sustainable ❤️
I think it's great you did a full video on this; it's a topic that really needs to be highlighted over and over!
It's been so many days since I've watched your videos. I am going to binge watch all the videos that I missed.💜
Big kudos to you for giving the original designer a dedicated video. Girl, you rock.
I love that you did a video on 1 dress it's so funny but it's also a great video because the real artist need to be appreciated
I love that you did a follow up! I love that you attempted to give us the jump transition haha and I love you!!!
I have 3 AYM dresses and love them all. They also have bamboo pieces for those wanting to avoid polyester. The cost (plus shipping and duties to Canada) does stop me from buying more often…but I have been trying to reduce my shopping anyways 😂
In March I had to have a major surgery which meant some significant recovery time at home. I started binge watching your videos because they made me laugh even when I wasn't feeling well and my two young kids would watch with me if they weren't at school. They ADORE you! Thank you for making such funny and entertaining videos and for making us all smile during a big life adjustment! Pleas send our love to Mama Maples as well! 💕
omgggg!!! have an AMAZING time in Japan!!!!
Great video! Glad you did this and compared the two dresses.❤
I love that you made this video to show the difference in quality real vs. fake. You always follow through with your ideas and follow-up videos, keeping us informed as consumers. 💘
It's always a good day when mia uploads ❤
You really are my favorite influencer Mia💗
You're a precious little sassy gem Mia Maples, thanks for being on earth, and on RUclips :)
Now we need to see a haul from this brand! A company with good quality and good morals is so great and I would love to see more items from them!
Glad you did a full video to give them credit!!
This absolutely deserved a full video! Heck it deserves to be main channel. The commitment to sustainable AND paying their staff properly is BRILLIANT xx
Oh im so happppyyyyy to see this! I always loved the videos from AYM dresses and was thinking to buy one of their dresses for my graduation and then i saw your video and was SSOOOO DISAPPOINTED and felt so tricked by the brand 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️😂😂 im so grateful you did this

Have fun in Japan! Can’t wait for the video (if you make one! No pressure!). I do like this more laidback channel.
This dress and color is STUNNING on you!!!
This was so great! Thanks for giving this brand the credit they deserved. It is so frustrating that people take others ideas and hard work.
that dress is the PERFECT shade for aurora’s blue dress ❤
Have this exact dress in red and omg I am so happy with it! Can confirm it feels amazing on and definitely worth the price
I’m in the middle of job application hell and needed a new mia video so bad 🎉🎉🎉
Great closure!
Safe trip Mia❤
Yeyy we love youuh Mia 🥹🩷
i LOVED this video and would like to have a longer in the future with more brands!
The real dress is so cute! And I cackled at your failed transition. That's why we love you Mia - so relatable
Yay so excited you reviewed AYM! The "model" is also the owner and designer! She's such a boss lady
I would love to see a longer video comparing Pinterest/tiktok scam ads to the real deal!
You are so good at finding originals that have been stolen. I have been trying to track down an original 3D Christmas sweater with trees and cats on it. All I can find is cheap printed versions of it. It's such an adorable idea and would love to see the original.
U say u didn't need to do a full on video for this....but we are all super happy you did!!!❤
mia, you look like cinderella with your blonde hair and that blue dress combo!!!! 👸🏻
Thanks for your video Mia💙
I love the “in motion” video bubble on AYM’s website! That’s SO helpful!
Video idea! I‘d love to see more popular canadian clothing brands (thinking about unique designers)! And you could do more videos where you try on popular brands from different countries
This is so exicitnggggg❤ Video in at the perfect time
I love AYM!!! I’m so happy you decided to showcase the brand after the Pinterest fake
omg i was manifesting this vid so bad. ive seen this brand on my ig for the LONGEST time and im so curious abt the dresses?? they always look amazing on the models
I appreciate the full video of this! I want to see more real vs fake products. Not too promote the thieves but to bring awareness to the originals!!!
Very cool if you to do the right thing and post this!! Even though you did have to a whole video I loved it!!! Make this a series!!
i’m doing a college essay right now on fast fashion. love this video ❤
Awesome, glad to see the real one get some spotlight!
Love Love Loved this video and would love to see more shortie videos like this one that only have to feature one product!
I'm a big fan of AYM! I always get compliments on the dresses I have from them. I don't live in the UK so have had to do a fair number of returns/exchanges to get the right sizes/styles and they've been really good about that too.
It is so cool and awesome that you show the real brands ❤love ❤
Wow, you're truly listening to all the comments. Love it!
Thanks for making this video ❤
Still love your videos Mia
The simple fact that Mia made a whole video for one dress just shows how passionate and how much she cares that we get the right clothes and not these scams and I couldn't love her more for that ❤❤
OMG I JUST NOTICED YOU ARE WEARING THE HEALS THAT YOU BOUGHT IN A PREVIOUS VIDEO I LOVE THEM❤❤😊
The real dress is so much more flattering too!! And that fabric looks so much better as well
I really love this video. I'm subscribing in hopes that you will make more videos like this.
Love the video❤❤ can you please do an updated full face of e.l.f. cosmetics??
Awesome how you made a video just for this brand ❤
LET'S JUST AGREE THAT
THIS GIRL MAKES OUR DAY
Love you Mia! Amazing video as always!
