I grew up listening to my Dad tell his stories of the War, it was not until much later in my life that I found out that he was a member of the FSSF. He was wounded in Italy, severely wounded and was able to come home. I always wondered why he was so tough, he never complained never called in sick to work! RIP Dad you were always a inspiration to your 6 boys!

+John Lozano i know what u mean, one time i saw my dad break his little toe at home (it was sticking out on a 90 degree angle) i told him that maybe he should go see a doctor, he just grumbled a bit put some masking tape on his toe put his boots on & went to work. he worked at chrysler auto a big factory with a huge parking lot so i know he put a lot of mileage on that busted toe. this happend on a friday & needless to say after work he spent sat. & sun. in bed, then on monday it was back to work. toe never got infected so he never saw a doctor. those FSSF men who trained in Montana were some tough old birds.

Well done and very realistic portrayal of the men that fought in the FSSF. I also thank those children of force members who were honest with the experience they had growing up, as I did. Many endured the explainable rage that their fathers brought back.

I have been blessed to know Jack Callowhill who served in the 1st company, 2nd regiment for a couple of decades. A quiet gentleman that we all owe a debt of gratitude to.
    Once again, thank you.

My Uncle Angus (Calgary Highlanders)told me not to be mad at my Dah. That him and his Boys were famous. He said "They did night work". I thought he was a janitor. Now I know different. Maithin Duit Dah.

Thank God! Finally. A properly researched and presented tribute to the FSSF that doesn't resort to that stupid, improper nick name attached to it in a 1966 book and subsequent 1968 film! I get so sick and tired of substandard docs falling back on the totally fake name of 'Devil's Brigade'. The force was never called that and everyone who uses that invented name is just displaying their ignorance and lack of research.

And the sad truth of the world today -- from "The Green Fields of France" by Eric Bogle
"Well, the suffering, the sorrow, the glory, the shame
The killing and dying it was all done in vain
Oh Willie McBride, it all happened again
And again, and again, and again, and again
Did they beat the drums slowly?
Did they play the fife lowly?
Did they sound the death march as they lowered you down?
Did the band play the last post and chorus?
Did the pipes play the flowers of the forest?"
