Amongst The Eagles -- The Battle of Mount La Difensa

The battle for Monte La Difensa, which took place between 3 December and 9 December 1943, occurred during Operation Raincoat, part of the Battle for the Bernhardt Line during the Italian Campaign in World War II.
On top of Mount La Difensa, it's important to reflect not only on the battle itself, but of the lifelong bonds that were formed between Forcemen of two great nations. Whether part of this battle or not, the courage and tenacity that were shown on this mountaintop created friendships that would last a lifetime, cross borders and transcend generations.

Bernd, shame on me for not finding this before now. I'm at La Difensa in my project. Amazingly, I'm ALSO using Jack Callowhill as the on camera narrator!! I went to his home. Having him on location looks so good! This is as good a definitive piece as I can imagine. Congrats, and thanks agin for your continued inspiration.

I am experienced in guerrilla warfare. Many of our marches were conducted at night, across rugged terrain, with little or no illumination and sometimes even in stormy weather. All of them are very difficult already and all of that mixed into one and with the addition of a well-fortified and heavily-armed enemy. Wowww!!! Very impressive!
