This is the first Vlog I ever watched. And it happened to be your Vlog and this interesting topic.
I think your in LA.? I lived there for a long time and LA can be lonely. I’m also going through a cleansing , so to speak, of friends and figuring out who actually values me as their friend and it’s a painful process. And I’m sorry you’re going through that.
I do spend a lot of time in LA/Orange County and Park City, Utah, if you ever want to meet and chat as I think we are hitting on the same wavelength as Moms of young kids. I have a 3.5 year old daughter.
I love meeting new people, especially people who are working to figure out where they fit and why they fit some places and not others.
I am also searching for my “home” … a home of friends who I can be me and they can be them and it just flows and things can just be… lovely.
I don’t know how to reach out to you. But I’d love to meet a new friend too. I suppose you could message me on IG if your open to meeting sometime or message me here on RUclips?? My name is Kristi Labrum. I’m on LinkedIn too. : )
Wishing you all the best! ❤

Oh girl, never waste your time on people who don’t fill you up. Quality over quantity! We’re too old to lose time and energy to people who don’t add to our existence.
On a medical note (speaking as a healthcare provider), if you feel like you’re asking for your needs to be met and they’re not, change providers. Nothing wrong with that! You need to feel heard, and you should be able to have a working relationship with your care team. 🩷

Yes it is very hard. It is something that I feel like foreigners complain a lot about when they come to the US...hard to make friends. I think part of it is the driving culture, lack of social places where you dont have to spend money, no community anymore, etc.

There just wasn't any real connection and I always had to watch what to say as well until I didn't and they got very aggressive. Yeah no. Didn't need that and told them so.

Hi from Greece, i totally resonate with you in everything you've described in this video and you don't have to make a bunch of "friends", just few and good... try to find "friends of heart", that's what i call them, and one or two usually are the average, everywhere. That's what i've learned in my 55 years of life. Thanks Maria, for just being here and really talking to us.💙✌✨

People can say how “horrible” it is to fast… but you know what? It WORKS for some of us. I was struggling to lose weight. I started fasting, I lost 75 pounds and hit my goal weight. I also have gut issues, I have diverticulosis. When my stomach hurts, it hurts. Pretty badly. I’m so happy you found something to help you!!! It’s not for everybody. But it worked for us!

I 10000% agree with the friend thing. For years I had shallow friendships and it left me feeling kind of sad honestly. I’m so glad you were able to go to Russia with Mila!
My son is 6 and this summer we took him on his first international trip. Several people made comments about us spending money to travel when he won’t remember it. Well yeah but I will remember it. I will remember the memories with my son. And you and your family will now have precious memories with your daughter.
I’m sorry it’s been a struggle finding a friend group that lifts you up and helps you be yourself. I was in that same situation for years. It really is difficult figuring out who you are and the balance of your individuality and your motherhood.
Lots of hugs and an open inbox if you ever want to talk.
Finally, healthcare can be so different from country to country. We went to the Czech Republic (from the USA) for fertility treatments and they were amazing. I’m glad you were able to get some help. Keep us posted on your journey!!! I hope you find healing.

I agree with a lot you had to say ❤ minus the trauma section. I feel like everyone experiences trauma differently, that also includes how they deal with it. It takes times to get to the point where you are content. If the trauma lasted a while it’s hard not to grieve what you could have done or could have been given. Grief also includes anger. You’re allowed to feel that too.

I think you’re completely right about the friendships; and it’s not unique to you or even adults. I feel like it’s really common to form friendships around parts of your identity that are very important, but if those priorities change or the type of interaction you have with that identity changes, you can realize that there’s really nothing else there. I think the important bit is allowing those friendships to exist as they are, letting them go when/if it’s necessary. And, ideally, you make a couple of true ones that will weather all that.

Ooo... the back issue sounded familiar! I'm glad he recommended physical therapy - it worked like a charm for me and now I know what to do when I start to feel old familiar twinges. Tai chi and Qigong also helped after phys therapy and that helped strengthen the little core muscles I miss in regular exercise.
And... "Moms" can be the worst! Once I learned to let go of them and other friends of proximity - just being myself, doing things I enjoy, etc - new people come into your life that give you joy.
    Love hearing about your trip

Especially the growing older, noticing how almost fake or difficult adult friendships are to relate to. As we change and grow finding people we are really comfortable with becomes more rare and I’ve learned to cherish my own time and the people who actually get me. It’s very relatable and sometimes it takes the lack of media or forced relationships to really be at peace and ourselves again.

I enjoy watching you talk about life because you have a way of describing details that makes me think in ways I haven't before! I would like you to know that you are not alone in figuring out your identity. I am a now 41 year old who has lost 2 babies, so I haven't been able to raise a child, but I still feel like I'm searching for my identity too. You have the legacy of this channel and your daughter too. I think grief has frozen my path and identity so to speak. I don't fit in with anyone in my age group because most of them are moms. I am an RN so I constantly try to tell myself I am making a difference in patients lives everyday, but I'm not really doing anything for me right now, especially to channel my identity. Anyways, your thoughts about age and health and friends really hit home for me. Thanks for taking the time to share this video; it made me feel like I had a decent visit with a friend which is much needed. We all need to take more time to smell the roses.

PS. I have Crohns Disease, and my doctors have always told me to never take ibuprofen because it's terrible for your digestive system. A chiropractor would be a great place to start for your back issues, if you havent already done that. So many US doctors just want to throw meds at a problem. Me, I'd rather find the source of the issue and fix it as holistically as possible, so I understand your pain! Also, I intermittent fast everyday, it's been a complete game changer!
