1. I dropped out of school after trying to fake my own rapport cards.
2. I did all of the drugs apart from heroin in a bad phase in my life.
3. I had crippling depression for over 5 years.
4. I became obese from finding comfort in food.
5. I recovered, and ASMR was a large part of my recovery, and your videos were lifechanging.
Now i have a job, i worked off all excessive weight, found a loving wife, and have a 2 year old babygirl. Life can be strange. Im happy i found this community. Much love.

I have a degree in gemology. I agree with you about gold, silver, and gemstones. Diamonds are PLENTIFUL! They are not rare. Just the perfect clarity and cut. Good for you for quitting smoking. The world needs you around for a long time!! XO!

ruby rydinghood no it's just that most diamonds are used in other fields like construction etc due to their hardness. Most diamonds just look like glassy rocks
And what about gold? why might she never wear it? Please lighten me up about it. In my husband's culture for example, you can hardly leave house without wearing any gold, mostly 22 K so I am just wondering. Thank you Angie :D

Mistakes are just a natural part of life. It's how we learn, it's how we gain experiences, and it's how a lot of us see different sides of the world we live in. You wouldn't be who you are today without the things you've gone through, and chances are, you wouldn't be in the stable, happy place you are either. Life can be rocky but seeing how kind and amazing you've grown over the years gives me hope that I'll get there one day as well.

Everyone has a path that is unique to them. Every soul has lessons to learn. Not all paths are the same. Not all paths are rosy and happy. That isn't how it works. No person has the right to judge another. I've fought my own battles. I'm still fighting them. I'm not as outgoing as you, I admire that in you. I clam up and go into my shell for a time, until finally one day I can't take it anymore and I unleash like a tornado, completely out of control. (I am also diagnosed Bipolar, so that probably has something to do with that) Anyway, I go through horrible depressions, and it's so hard to hold on sometimes. I'm also extremely empathic, which doesn't help because I FEEL things so strongly and soak them up like a sponge.
I've never had the courage to actually do the things I have wanted to do. I want to travel. I want to write. I want to move out of FL. I want to meet the right person for me. However, I have felt/feel like you said you felt... ..fat, ugly, unworthy, all those things you tell yourself. I totally let FEAR control me and I KNOW it. It hasn't helped that I also have mental and physical illnesses that have seriously limited my independence from others. It really breaks me.....breaks my spirit...because on the inside I want to be that independent woman that travels and does whatever she wants, I want to re-imagine myself. You may have felt bad about yourself, but for the past 5 years I've been watching your videos and thinking "Why can't I be like HER." Isn't it amazing, how we see ourselves, compared to how others see us.
I also didn't get my license until I was 22. I have a driving phobia. I've conquered this in my hometown, and a little outside of it, but I still get panic attacks if I have to drive in an unfamiliar place or big city. I'm also extremely bad at math, to an embarrassing degree. I really appreciate your candor and willingness to share yourself with others. I'm so tired of the shallow and vapid crap that we see on a daily basis nowadays. I crave genuine relationships with people. Give me real, or give me nothing. Why does anyone want someone fake in their lives?
I have come out of my shell much more when it comes to speaking about my illnesses. It's not something to be ashamed of or judged by. I hosted two fundraisers for mental health and invisible illnesses and disabilities. It has helped so much, and the best part was having others come up to me and tell me their stories, and thank me for trying to create awareness for what they themselves suffer from, and we laughed and cried together, and hugged. Hearing speakers at my event talk openly about their mental illnesses, including PTSD from traumas like being sold into human trafficking at 16, and healing from a loved ones suicide, etc... Just seeing people come together and have a voice, or seeing people realize they are not alone, that made it all worth it to me. That made me feel like in my own small way, I was helping make a difference. YOU make a difference, Maria. You make a difference for me every time I listen to one of your videos, and it calms me or helps me through a bout of insomnia or depression, or when I'm manic and I can't turn my brain off to relax. That makes a difference. Even though I don't REALLY know you, I feel like we could be the best of friends. I'm sure a lot of people feel that way. From seeing not just your videos, but your vlogs, I know it's actually true though. So I thank you for all that you do, with all of my heart. So you keep doing you, no apologies needed. :)

We sound so similar I may as well not bother to write it out a second time 😂
I don’t know if you’ll even read this as it’s been over a year since you commented. But I’m also suffering with physical conditions (slipped disc, fibro, ME), and have suffered with depression and panic attacks for the longest time. My back became so terrible I couldn’t walk, the Drs misdiagnosed it for years so for the past 8 years I’ve been mostly bedbound and extremely reliant on others, including those I wouldn’t want in my life if I could live life without help.
I only found the ASMR community last year. Prior to my back problem, I was training as a psychologist, hoping to be a therapist to children was the goal. My Mum had been fostering children for longer than I’ve been alive and so many needed help with their mental health but weren’t given any access to it. My own experience of abuse as a child from someone who was close to the family also drove me on to help children.
Prior to all this I was a drummer and a footballer for a local team. So going from all that to bedbound was an extremely difficult transition for me, as it is for anyone really.
After finding a surgeon who finally saw what all the previous Drs had been missing in the MRI scans, I had a couple of surgeries, some damage can’t be undone but I’m working on all the muscle weaknesses, imbalances, and wastage that occurred over this time. It’s extremely slow progress, but progress is progress.
I also gained so much weight from depression, comfort eating, and a lot of pain medication that made me feel sick and sucking on sugary treats seemed to help me a lot with that.
Trying to be kind to yourself when you think the world views you as fat, useless, and ugly, it’s impossible to free yourself from that if you value their opinion more than your own.
They don’t know my story. They don’t know how I got here. And I wish people would just be kinder.
Does anyone really achieve anything joking about someone’s weight to their face? It’s not about the fact they are saying it to me, it’s the personal reasons they felt the need to say those words aloud, and often it mostly comes down to their own insecurities. To pick on someone else before anyone sees their flaws. Divert the attention basically.
And for the longest time I’ve been saying how we are all in this life TOGETHER. We may have different paths, all with their own unique hurdles and obstacles. And that’s why it’s so important we help each other reach the end of our journeys together.
Just wanted to add your comment is the reason I am commenting. I wasn’t confident enough to post my own until I saw how familiar your story was.

Bravo Kris Gemini: I feel the same way. I have a physical disability and a car, but can't go anywhere without help. No one makes an electric arm for my car to help me get a wheelchair in and out. Tried to rig something up but it didn't work.Still have to call friends to meet me at a store to help me. I hate that! I want to be independent!
I started smoking at 14 too. I have quit and taken it back up a few times. Quitting again currently, been 4 days since my last smoke. No judgement from me!
I'm also a very anxious person and I catastrophise things often.
Don't be so hard on yourself Maria, we all have/had vices.

Oh that's so exciting!!! Good luck. Study/memorize the road signs and fines. That's what helped me! Know at what distance to use a turn signal, when to use your headlight, etc.
kimmykinnzzX93 I'm not sure where you might live, but I know that my test was very easy. Don't stress about the test, thinking "OH MY GOSH IM GONNA FAIL NO MATTER WHAT" because that's not the case. Just make sure you DO look through your entire book, because they could put anything into it.
kimmykinnzzX93 use the practice test apps that pretty much all you need and practicing in empty parking lots is a great way to start without the pressure of being around other cars. Drive at night when there's less traffic. That's how i got comfortable enough to drive on the freeway. Best of luck! 💚🍀

Glad you were able to quit smoking. My Aunt quit after her lung caner diagnosis. She beat that but than got throat cancer 2 years later and died from that. :(

Not having a car can really sick sometimes. I don't have one, so I have to walk to where I need to be. The only thing I'm okay with about walking to places is that it's good exercise. I have lost a lot weight because of it, and I am also much stronger as I continue to build more muscles. And I'll tell you what- I absolutely love the way my body feels. Nothing jiggles anymore. I feel lighter and more put together. Walking also helps me to think more clearly. Plus you get to see much that you would not notice were you in a car. I'm talking about cute little lizards, or butterflies, awesome looking insects, tiny brightly colored flowers, and yes, even money!

Maria, I was a "bad student" in high school as well. I couldn't even get a C on any of my classes. Couldn't concentrate; couldn't focus even if I tried. But after I entered a college, everything dramatically changed. Now I have aced 44 out of 44 classes I've taken, a 4.0 GPA, 8 semester remaining on Dean's List. Thank you so much for those late nights I was working on papers, and your ASMR videos were my only company that kept me up!!! Thank you! OMG, teary! lol I'm kidding! Thanks, again! Queen of ASMR!

I used to only eat Special Ks twice a day to avoid gaining weight ( weighted 90 pounds).
I learned how to drive at 22
I gave birth to 2 babies before I turned 20
I dropped out of school and got a GED because I was depressed
I had little to no outside contact for the 1st 2 years after I had my second child
Extra: I was able to graduate as an RN thanks too my mom and current husband, and I actually feel happy and proud of my life, and these lessons helped me get here

That's so interesting that you suspect that you have ADD/ADHD! I have inattentive ADHD and struggled IMMENSELY with algebra, chemistry, physics, and other multi-step maths. I got an A in geometry, though, because it's so visual! I always excelled at English and history but failed miserably at certain maths. I'm part of lots of groups of women with ADD/ADHD and lots of us had similar experiences in school regarding math and other subjects. We are extremely creative, "big picture" people, but can be detail oriented when it is favorable for us! I started to understand myself and my own tendencies so much more when I began to learn more about ADD/ADHD and how it manifests in women.
