Zachray pit better be here to stay man. It definitely is a character requiring forethought, technical skill and strong fundies and it is amazing to watch.
Fun Fact: Back in Brawl the American tier list has Pit at the bottom of C tier (17/34) but in Japan he’s placed at the top of A tier (8/34).

M2k has stated before that pit was the most underrated character in brawl. He noted that all the American pits were really bad in comparison to the Japanese players that played the character.
I’m a brawl vet and they had it rightish. Pit was like in the 13 area for me.
I remember watching a shit load of Japanese brawl especially regarding Earth in general and when he beat m2k when he was considered the best in the world
Zackray gave Pit his best placing and is better than Palutena’s highest placement ever since the post pandemic
The truth in that is a kinda dependent on whether we’re talking about pure placement, or if we’re talking about the size of the tournament as well. Particularly because Raflow’s 2nd place at 95 Kings of Fields is definitely a close contender given that he picked up wins on both Glutonny and Maister

I’ve thought for a while that Pit is so much better than the general community has thought. Everybody calling him an honest character hasn’t seen his ability to suppress your options… super active disjointed hitboxes, one of the best dash grabs I can think of, multiple jumps, a tracking projectile… he has an insane advantage state and his neutral is crazy too so like… the character is really good at being hyper-aggressive.
I’m glad you mentioned how stupid his dash grab is. I NEVER see anyone talk about it which is crazy since it’s a huge reason as to why it’s so easy to get consistent grabs as pit.

Pit is such a suffocating character that it's unbelievable.
I’ve always wanted to experiment with Pit but other fighters got my attention over him. Zack is slowly inspiring and we’re probably gonna see more Pits online now
Already happening, I’ve run into prob’ly three times as many as usual in the past couple days.
Been playing for years, my Pit is clean but yes, unfortunately ppl think they can pick up a fundies character like Pit, the worst one and think they'll have success. Not happening chief. Haven't played in a few days but I'm sure there's Pit's online jump in nairing to their hearts content lol.
People rely too much on tier lists nowadays, i'm glad Zackray is changing the meta.
They do, people are too trusting of the consensus of top players; it's not so easy to consider all the angles in a dynamic game like a fighter, unlike, say, an RPG.

Yoshi’s up-tilt is so stupid. The stumpiest tail in the world somehow reaches all the way back over Yoshi’s head to pop up an opponent standing half a character’s space away. Hitboxes man..🤦🏽♂️

I really don’t know why Pit has been so disregarded. He’s got good combos, good grab game, fucking broken spike in conjunction with his multiple jumps and long-ranged recovery, decent projectile, all I ever heard about him was “too honest tho”.
Too honest just translates to this character not being very gimmicky. Pits strengths will only shine when a skilled player wields him.
Lol his spike is not broken, us Pit mains wish it was. It takes some finesse to consistently hit it. It's basically a worse Palu dair but that's fine, I love the move overall.

A lot of "mid tier" characters are high tier. They just have underdeveloped play styles.

I could have watched him play against yoshidora for whole other set! Two very unique characters being played at such a high level is so dope! Some of the stuff zackray pulled off was down right nasty too
it feels so good seeing my old main get some recognition... almost makes me want to pick up the controller again

This video is blowing my mind! I have never seen Pit gameplay this clean before. A friend of mine started messing around with Pit for fun and I saw some of his potential, but this is way beyond what I thought he was capable of. Obviously Zachray is an insane player who could probably do well with lots of characters, but this has shown that Pit has a solid kit.

Makes me wonder why people thinks pit isn't great or is average. It's litterally a Swordsman with multiple jumps and all the tools in the kitbox.
He can even block in the air.
They got caught up in the heavies and dlc. Left all the "mid" characters in the dust.
Because ppl think if you have to play neutral longer than 3 seconds without completely blowing your opponent up then the character is mid.
@@mercurysnake274 Raze who is 2nd in Australia is a co Pit/Link main. Nata in Japan also does great with Pit. He's a really good character, ppl just don't want to play neutral for too long.

For those who don't Follow Zackray. He beat Ashimo in Kagaribi before when he went Sora. This isn't their first time fighting
I've mained Pit for about 2 years now. I don't understand why US players always put him in mid tier. He literally has tools for every situation: orbiters for projectiles (and other niche uses), super armor on side b, crazy range on up b, a projectile of his own, a combo throw, a kill throw, fast fall / auto cancel aerial combo hell, a spiking dair... And he's not light, if you know DI well, you can live till silly percents. This character is so good, and actually is fun to play too with all the combos.
This tourney was legendary. At least for me i never really kept up with the JP smash scene but this has really changed that for me. Zach Yoshidora and Asimo are too hype. I wish more NA and EU players would go to these JP events. Looking forward to all future JP smash tourneys!

The fact that Zackary got to 3rd in the major using Pit, tells me will wipe the floor with acola when he's with his best character. The dude's a legend.

I agree Pit is underrated. He is one of the last characters I picked up in Ultimate and I couldn't believe how good he was. I got him into Elite pretty fast.
@LarryLurr l am wondering do you believe former Smash 4 Shiek mains and even Ultimate Wolf mains in the pro circuit could learn from Zackray's Pit and possibly even have a discussion with Mr. R comparing and contrasting the meta between Smash 4 Shiek and what he even thinks of Zackray's Pit or am I just over thinking
Raze and Zachary are the two best pit players so far and the zackary is proofing that pit is a fun character including dark pit as well.

Since I started playing against him regularly I started to realize that this character is cracked in the right hands
There is another Pit Player that has really optimazed this character, he is "Raze", that dude combos are insane, but he is not at Zachary level of "neutral game", but he is really good too! you should check his Pit, really!
Looking forward to Zackray vs acola. The match between the former Japan's strongest and the current Japan's strongest will be even more heated.

I know this is about Zack, but holy hell Yoshidora has gotten so good in the last year or so.
I've been playing bit for a long time. I suck. But I always knew he had the tools to be crazy if somebody with incredible spacing and fundamentals played him. Other than Zero and MKLeo, Zackray definitely fits that bill.

Is Pit vs Dark Pit that much of a difference ? The arrow bend is that much more useful than the punish from Dark Pits?
id say pit is better just because his arrow is so much more versatile and better for controlling space. you can safely pressure people from places that you cant as dark pit
if side b was a move worth using more than once a match then they would probably be balanced the same though

Hate it when people say "that's a thing you can do with Pit??" like it hasn't been a thing for a long time. Granted, Pit isn't a popular character, but it still bugs me

Pit's Side B is the worst most inconsistent move, its like falcon side but with 10x the inconsistentcy. I don't blame Zachary for not even bothering. It's not worth when you could either get more damage from neutral air combo or an uptilt.
Its not really bad tbh. Some people don’t use it very well at all. Its pretty good on plats as it could kill at 90% at Top plat (Depends on weight though) and can sometimes get you to gain things on air. D.Pits is only good simply because it kills early on ledge and it drives the opponent offstage making for easier gimpings, but aside from that, every-other scenario is situational especially center-stage. Its good on air though and will get kills from 100%. But in situational regards when not on ledge, it will barely kill at 120% depending on weight when you use it as the opponent is in centerstagez

In my opinion, my top three pit players as a Pit main are as follows:
1) Zackray
2)RaZe
3)Earth
Earth barely came back and according to Orion/Smash Data RaZe was ranked the best pit player to put Pit in better placements but Earth can change that
I feel like pit players spend more time complaining about hit boxes than actually optimizing their character, and now that zackaray has optimized pit opinions are gonna change
no, it's everyone else complaining how "shit" the hit boxes are, (we) pit mains just take the blame because they (the majority of pit mains) won't refute it. Zackray didn't optimize Pit in any way, he just has amazing fundies that just happen to rub off on any character he plays. American smash players are still going to think Pit is bad (he's not) because Pits in the US just suck

Zackray is not just best rob in world, best pit and best sheik, does not matter wich char, he is so agressive, innovative and show huge dominion, is the best in japan for miles of 2nd
Ultimate pit is way better the smash 4 pit. They’re a more bad matchups for pit in ultimate only because there are more characters but his bad matchups aren’t nearly as bad as they were in smash 4. DLC made pit useless and even before dlc, the top tiers would run through him. If they would fix the nair hitboxes in this game though that would be much appreciated.

Think about it.
*worse Falco and I say that as a Pit main. His drag down fair and nair is worse than Falco's. Pit doesn't have a high jump like Falco so although his up tilt is almost as good as Falco, the combos aren't as guaranteed as Falco. Generally, Pits combos and confirms have a smaller window than Falco's.
@@dripfoe_3307 pit doesn't need to jump as high as Falco when he has multiple jumps. Pit has multi hits just like Falco except he has a dis joint attached to them.
Arrow safer on hit. So hitting someone at point-blank doesn't get you punished
He has a reflector maybe not as good as falco's but he has one. He can edgeguard just as well probably better since he can sit off stage for longer. And his moves are disjointed. Reflector is also a physical barrier. OH OH AND PIT
Has ALEGIT KILL THROW. Yeah Falco has some strengths but pit more than makes up for that with utility
@@bennywarren9866 Falco's advantage state is better than Pit, not even close, however, Pits disadvantage is leagues ahead of Falco. Also Pit having disjoints means very little when he has almost the same range as Falco for the most part. The reason why I say he's a worse Falco is because in the areas they're similar in, Falco has a easier time. His drag downs are easier to pull off and he gets way more damage than Pit, Falco's sharking/frame trapping is easier to pull off due to his higher jump whereas Pits requires guess work. Edguarding is even but Falco has a better spike, Pit can stay out longer but you still have to work for it. Guardian Orbiters and arrows are overall better but Falco reflector/laser is nothing to scoff at. Overall, similar characters but Falco definitely has more privilege in the same areas. You have to work more with Pit because sometimes his stuff doesn't work but that's why I like Pit more.
Pit is underrated, but he’s as middle of the tier as it gets lol Pit is only as good as the player is.
As a Pit main, conversing with several Pit mains on the internet, the consensus is that he's low high tier but not higher, however if you think he's still mid tier then it's upper mid at worst. What you said about Pit being as good as the player accounts for most of Pits success but he does have some absurdly good moves like down B, arrows, nair, dash attack.

Earth is definitely not a good Pit, probably not even top 3 in Japan, even if we don't count Zackray. Which makes perfect sense, he hasn't really played Ult all that much.
