I'm just diving into playing Pit and I'm now realizing that he is extremely underrated. Especially after watching Zackray utilize him to the fullest.

Just because he's decent doesn't necessarily mean that he's got a real gimmick: Mario doesn't really have a gimmick either, and he's still good. (Unless being an all-rounder is considered a gimmick... Which it shouldn't by definition.)

I think a lot this was matchup check. Zackray is damn good, and there aren't any pits that I can think of at this level. I saw a lot of people die to dash attack because they di'd it bad.

Pit not a bad character at all people don’t use him because he don’t rely on gimmicks but if you take your time to experiment with the character he can cook for sure so I’m not surprise to see him do good in the hands of a top player

@@janswhatsupdoc yeah at top level play no you need more than just gimmicks but mid to high level play for sure you just need have decent neutral and fundamentals trust you’ll get a lot further than using a character that’s “honest” that’s my opinion tho

Some characters are more privileged than others (no shit) but skill is the only thing that will carry you, a fact which will always elude most peeps
@@janswhatsupdoc yessir what I appreciate about top players is there creativity in what they do they don’t copy ppl styles or use characters as how must ppl consider the most optimal way to use them creativity takes you far hate when someone comes in tell me I using a character wrong when I’m trying to experiment and implement my own style and creativity

I think this result definitely pushes Pit into high tier, even if on the lower end. I usually put characters with large amounts of unrecognized potential in upper mid, since they don’t have the results to support that potential, unless it’s Pikachu, since everyone knows why that character is stupidly powerful. Now that Pit actually has the result needed to show what he can do at the top level, I don’t think there’s anything really holding him back from crossing that high tier threshold. And they crazy thing is that Zackray’s Pit isn’t even optimized, imagine what could be if it was

Solid high tier character with a syndrome of not having good enough mains to make people see his full potential. Which sucks, because of how good Pit is and it unfortunately had to take a top player who doesn't play him to make big enough waves for people to finally see

Pit has almost everything in his kit that most of the best high tiers and even top tiers have: solid frame data, disjoints, dragdown setups, a great projectile, a great grab game with a combo throw that works for ages and kill throw, multiple jumps and a recovery that goes far and can be heavily mixed up.
Its just that they all kinda suck in comparison lol
Watching Zackrya's run with me got me to try him out and now he's my new main. So fun

The juggles and oppressive offstage arrows would be deadly against most characters, but don’t have much strength against high and top tiers with great disadvantage.
Which is why it is baffling how Asimo won against this Pit with Ryu. On paper, this MU is buns.

Long time pit player since brawl, I never lab combos but I’ve always felt b reverse shield has some untapped potential for edge guarding. Maybe slingshot for momentum or something? Please reply if you’re actually good at this game and want to shit on my speculations :)
Honestly, it probably could be good. The only reason why I say probably is because his hurtbox sticks out from the bottom when in the air, causing him to be more vulnerable to attacks. it's definitely great for blocking recoveries, but only if you know how to use it

I do. As a Dark Pit main, his main issue is his disjoints suck. Upperdash/Electroshock Arm is near useless unless you go for a read. Guardian Orbitars can work against you because of the fact they shrink. Pit/Dark Pit arent bad characters but they lack a lot compared to the broken cast we have
Hwan Niggles A disjoint is a disjoint. Pit's is weak at times, losing to some moves it shouldn't but it still gets the job done. It doesn't "suck". He doesn't need electroshock, it doesn't matter if it's bad. Just don't use it. It's the same thing as Byleth down b.

I asked google lanma the best smash ultimate character and it said pit I told my brother that put his s tier and he didn’t believe me so then I proceed to 3-0 him and he says I’m spamming people just now found out that pit is the best if people could study neutral speed smash attacks and an unblockable side b then they would understand

it's moreso because he's playing my character and not being a main of him instead of someone who actually plays the character and does good. the way he plays him is very basic and reactionary, along with defensive options to cover and weak spots he could have. Great that he's playing him, but kinda shits on the mental for not being a "true pit main"

and other things that people have been coping with since 2018 and won't change
Fun fact: Pit actually used to suck! Until the 8.0.0. update saved him, he had almost NOTHING going for him except for a solid NAir and arrows, since his damage output and kill power before v8.0.0. onwards was absolute trash. The devs tend to buff characters by making their damage and kill power better, and Pit was a rare example of a character that actually needed those type of buffs. He got exactly that, and now he's a decent character but nothing SUPER crazy. Probably true mid tier ATM.
