I knew Sora was high or top tier from day one. A lot of people are so lame that they immediately write off characters just because of petty reasons. Sora was new and people immediately said he was trash just because he didn't get any instant results, same happened to Byleth, Corrin, Shulk, Marth, and even STEVE of all characters. It's about time the community learns that the unpopular characters take longer to develop because *they are unpopular;* less effort is being put into them on average. Unpopular does not = bad character, and some characters take more effort to be used at top level. I cannot believe how many people said Corrin, Byleth, and Sora were all bad just because "nobody plays them." Of course when Leo and Kameme came along, people doubled-down and started calling the characters mid or low tiers that were "carried," lol.
He won a major almost immediately in Japan and people still wrote him off
Smash community at its finest. Not the character you wanted? Probably low tier. Character annoying online? Elite smash demon, online warrior. It’s hilarious everytime

I think people still overrate Sora. I was never a Sora believer and I consider him mid tier. You can convince me he is high tier but I just think Kameme is a phenomenal player and outplays his opponent.
Sora is one of my mains it is hilarious how people still underrate him despite the fact he's arguably the best edgeguarder in the game.
The only thing truly holding it back from being the best in the game is air speed, (his ground speeds is actually pretty decent) better frame data, and some of his moves sometimes can be inconsistent and a thundara had a better hit box he'd probably be unmatched. And if his combos flowed better (their still pretty good though)
There are a few more small issues but most of them aren't that big of a deal.
Soras counter even works against Wonder Wing.

Sora has always been a strong character. I've known since early on. As a Kingdom Hearts fan, I'm glad. I'm an even bigger fan of Sephiroth which took him out in a reverse 3-0 recently. 👀👿

Sora is good but the problem is he’s not a character you can just pick up and play and see instant results like Pyra/Mythra for example. Because he’s so different from the rest of the cast you have to fully commit to him in order to do well
Most people just prefer the ease of picking up Pyra/Mythra or other characters instead of putting the work in for Sora

Aegis is way harder to play competently. I can do 0-70 or to death after 20 mins in training mode with Sora. I really never understood where the myth was coming from that Sora is a hard character to play... mid tiers are hard to play in this game, not this.
Pythra are not an instant results character, lol. The precision needed just doesn’t allow for that.

I can't wait to finally get my life really on track and make a ton of money so I can enter tournaments and show people that America also has a really strong sora. But I'm going to have to practice again It's been quite a long time since I've played competitively and I've definitely got the skills But in my current state it won't be enough.

I love the character so much. My only gripe and the reason I dropped him was because of how complicated his Nair was for combos being that his key has diff hitboxes. I say all this to ask the community, do you think that was a legitimate reason to drop him? Sorry if anyones finds this offensive 😂
Well, It depends. Its an okay reason, mainly because you can just learn the hitboxes from certain people who do play him, or from seeing certain examples. Noops are accessible if you get the tip of nair or as we like to call it (Noopbox)
if you don’t want to play a complicated character, that’s more than enough reason to stop playing him. i enjoy the complexity

idj noops is hard for some people, practice makes perfect I'm still trying to learn Ars Arcanum. Also some may not notice or may be mistaken but kameme wasted thunder so he can rotate to freeze more viable in certain early game to late game advantages & situations.

Check out DTP’s sora he’s the only person I’ve seen land the loops and the idj up air into up b with more practice and better neutral he could be up there
15:25 that is actually a huge problem for Game and Watch. He always has his limbs so sprawled out and it makes him get hit by stuff that should miss by a big distance. His hurtbox lowkey huge for his weight

imho as a sora main, sora is still mid to maybe low high tier but that’s because i feel he’s such a difficult character to play consistently and he has a garbage disadvantage and a slightly overrated recovery. kameme’s the first sora to truly optimize his neutral it’s just not what everyone thought it’d be: a safe, patient neutral that requires insanely consistent confirms on openings, edgeguards, and his op ass uair to juggle. thundaga is mostly useless against high tiers except offstage but kameme does great to cycle his spells and use them sparingly but he always lands them when he does use em
actually scratch that at kameme’s level i’d say he’s definitely high tier but not as far as top tier kameme’s just an insane player
There’s no world where Sora is a mid tier. He only feels like a mid tier if you aren’t committing to the character and learning their tech.

I think people are still wrong about Sora. I think he is VERY fun and very solidly B-tier. No worse, no better. He does a lot of different things pretty well. But his biggest strengths are overshadowed by other characters' strengths. I believe that once people start seeing Sora more and practicing against him more, you'll start to see Sora losses more often.
Sora being included in Smash Ultimate sold the game for me. Literally. I bought a Switch, Smash, a GCC, and Sora two weeks after he came out and have done nothing but try to improve with him. He's my favorite character, by a significant margin. But I do NOT believe he is top tier. I don't think this conversation would still be happening a year later if he was high-tier in a way decisive enough to prove it.

He's beaten Kazuya's before. The Sora Kazuya matchup isn't really that difficult, mostly because a lot of Kazyuya really struggle in the air and that's what Sora is good at.

Not many people rate Sora highly because he doesn't play consistently to an archetype, and he doesn't have a whole lot of ground mobility. In a weird way he's comparable to Corrin, but replace the kill-power with recovery options

A character with these tools is not top of mid tier. Low high tier minimum. He only has a 3-5 MUs which are truly cheeks and even some of those are doable.

@@ShadowHeartless0 I’ve also been maining him since release, LMAO 😂. His nair and fair are amazing combo tools (although you have to master the spacing of nair and timing of nair 2). His up air is top 5 in the game. Easily one of the best recoveries (although some characters with counters can check you if you aren’t careful with sonic blade). Up tilt and down tilt are great combo extenders (although they are influenced by DI unlike Nair/Fair). F-tilt is an amazing 2 frame if you time it right. His smash attacks are really strong and Sora has tons of kill confirms that lead into them (Nair 12 idj nair 12 up smash is really strong since you can get the sweet spot).
Once you start incorporating IDJ combo routes, soft resets with nair 1 2, short hop firaga as an approach tool, ladder combos, etc he gets a lot out of his kit. Yes he’s difficult to optimize and it can be tricky to get out of disadvantage against characters who juggle you or have better disjoints, but when Sora gets in he has all the tools he needs to get effective damage. A mid tier doesn’t have these tools nor do they have this kind of skill ceiling. He’s not an easy character by any means.
I used to main Joker and Pichu prior to Sora’s release and I pretty much had to relearn some aspects of the game to get used to his floatiness and double jump.

I'm aware of his kit clearly but you still have to be able to get in to land anything. It'd be a different story if he wasn't so slow. My ruling stands. Top of mid. Low high max.
