I didn't buy people saying Sora was only mid tier or so early on. Between his insane combo potential and a recovery that gives Pikachu a run for his money he's gotta be at least high tier. Feels like people just underestimate him because his floaty physics take some getting used to.

@@lobstercrostini Tbf it’s one heavy and cargo can cheese quite few high and top tiers also. Having some bad matchups to low and mid tiers doesn’t mean a character can’t be top tier.
All the respect in the world to Maister and Dabuz but holy hell did they do Sora NO favors for the first year of his existence. Kameme gets it. Sora isn't a pocket pick, he's a pick you want a pocket for, the other way around. He's damn good, definitely has a pretty hard time with super hard rushdown like Fox and super hard zoners like Samus, but still a damn good character, even if some may (understandably) find him annoying.
honeslty samus is pretty close to even, she's might be one of the easiest characters to combo/juggle outside of super heavies. Other than town and city/kalos, it's pretty even/winning if you know the mu well. I'm pretty sure Kameme thinks its winning or even for sora but my region has a shit ton of samus and knowing the mu doesn't make it nearly that difficult.
i remember in an mkleo video he said something about having sora practice because of fighting maister, and i was thinking "no... thats not real sora practice" sora isnt a secondary character, you either commit with him or you dont, and maister just doesnt get sora because he secondaries him
@Clickity Yeah on Tweek's recent Podcast he mentioned that, and then said that it definitely WASN'T practice when it came to Kameme lol
Soras counter really should reflect and not deflect, it even does in kingdom hearts so it makes no sense that it doesn't in smash and soras low ground speed plus air drift make fighting zoners a major pain
Leo in Tweek’s podcast stated that he treated Kameme’s Sora similar to Maister’s which that backfired horrendously
The interesting thing about that is, that's not even the first time that's happened for Kameme. I remember around the pre-Genensis events, Lui$ had a match with Kameme. In an interview before-hand he stated that he was pretty confident in taking on Kameme due to his experience training with Kurama's Sora. It definitely didn't work out as expected lol.

I wonder if top players are going to start discovering really good counter play to sora soon. I have no idea what his weaknesses are but I've never played against a good one so that's probably why.
Depends on your character, but his worst spot is above you as with all floaties, and the ledge. The ledge because he can’t double jump out of the corner and he’s slow on the ground. That’s why zoners do really well against him, and moves like t-jolt, and g&w chef can just lock him on ledge
Sora on fd just feels like sword kazuya sometimes.
A week or so ago I was checking Gluto's stream and I was pretty surprised to see him training with a Sora main in the EU. His chat was flabbergasted by the combos the Sora was showing off too. Overall, I'm glad Gluto's able to prepare himself incase he ever gets in that situation again.

Sora does not play like a Smash character. He plays a game of his own. That's why he is busted. You cant just out neutral him grounded he just avoids all that.

I been playing sora exclusively since his launch. He is busted. Although i will say he benefits immensely from in person play. Online he is mid tier.

From the initial release, I've said Sore is Top of High Tier similar to Byleth imo. Good enough to do great in the meta but not broken. Kameme and Leo are just pushing their characters to beyond the LIMIT
top of high tier would mean they are broken
no. being the best/worst doesn't automatically make a character "broken" in any game. Ultimate is super balanced considering the huge roster. I think the only characters up for the "broken" debate are steve and ganon@@nathanlevesque7812

How does sora do in the meta

He has a pretty good match-up against Steve, though maybe not to the extent of other characters with swords. What helps Sora in particular is that one bad minecart or anvil into Sora's counter can cost him a stock VERY early thanks to how Sora's counter stuns. Plus having a disjoint helps.
Sora also does very well against Kazuya, since he can simultaneously zone him out, outspace him with his disjoint and combo Kazuya hella easily, plus being floaty makes it a bit harder for Kazuya to combo him. Granted, it's still Kazuya and he can melt any character if he gets the chance, so it's never a hard win.
Sora doesn't do very good against Aigis since they can kinda smother him, but it's doable.
Sora is actually a pretty decent answer to Sonic as well, he's excellent at interrupting Sonic's flow wether he's being campy or not.
Fox is Sora's worst match-up by a country mile. Just about the only place Fox can't absolutely decimate Sora is off-stage, but in every other moment Fox can just never give Sora a single moment to breath, it's VERY rough.
Does good against ROB, Roy is pretty tough for him, Cloud is also hard, Diddy is second only to Fox to being Sora's worst MU, Pika is probably only a slight lose if not even tbh, Palu and Wolf slightly win, Min Min wins, G&W is about even, etc
Basically Sora does quite well against the two biggest "problem" characters in the Meta right now and has a decent MU spread otherwise, but hard rushdown shuts him down pretty badly, as well as some of the hard zoners.
