I'm glad Meta Knight is back on the map. And I just wanna say how much I love that "Nebula Belt" is playing in the background. If I'm not mistaken, that's the level that was most suited for farming the airtime needed to unlock Meta Knight in Kirby Air Ride. Genius editing.

I love how everyone is either reconsidering their tier lists for Meta Knight or at least talking about him. Goes to show how one player can change how everyone views a character.

It's kind of like what happened with Leo and Byleth except you could possibly argue that this is a stronger case for MK since he's not being piloted by the best player in the world (no offense to the legend Abadango)
@@MisterCwisper Facts. If Leo didn't pick up Byleth, he would still be seen as low tier. If Leo didn't drop Marth and/or won a major, he'd still be seen as top tier. If Ragelo never got 9th at Smashcon with Lucas, nobody would even consider him viable. If Light never played Fox, absolutely nobody would know how good he is.
I can go on, but I think I've given enough examples.
@Lapis Manalis I've mained him from the day I got Ultimate in 2020. He is definitely cracked. He's good on any competitive stage and he is good in almost every match-up depending on how you play him in that match-up. With so much diversity in his kit, I hate seeing him underutilized. He even beats many top tiers either in Neutral, offstage, or both, but nobody talks about that.

later in the set aba does hit a ladder against a higher % sephiroth though; thats just cus abadango is way too good and we will never be like him...😞
As an MK player I think the char is a solid high tier, very risk reward but has super good things about him, his biggest weakness being getting important hits and his more linear neutral. But if you're able to hit the ladders or get good percent off of them, you're golden. He has top tier edgeguarding, really good disadvantage, good at getting out of the corner, super deadly combos, good frame data, good advantage. Think people only think he's bad because lack of reps and he's unorthodox to play and requires a lot of time to get ladders and bridges down
That fact that he used the Dark Meta Knight skin in particular is the icing on the cake here

Always played against meta knights in our region (OCE) from players who are believers and I tell you, getting caught in his uair chains feels more depressing than getting caught in the Mythra blender

10:36 Aba must've tried to spotdodge or roll because he is still holding his shield a frame before the hit, neither are intangible on frame 1. Holding the shield would've been a break, and letting it go would've been a parry, and that definitely isn't a shield poke.

I wanna see leo play MK again. His sets against zero’s diddy back in sm4sh was some of the highest levels of smash I’ve seen.

Rly enjoying how the ultimate meta is playing out .. even w steve dominance and pyra/mythra being annoying we’re seeing specific character counters that have specialized answers for those characters (Lucas, metaknight respectively). wonder if we’ll see top pros pick up one-character counter secondaries as the game evolves
it also just like feels like steve is answerable in ways that bayo/brawl MK werent. dominant and high pressure, but answerable, especially if you’re willing to play unorthodox characters
sephiroth is combo food for mk combos, and he's very susceptible to bridges. it's just the combo window happens at an earlier percent, so abadango was unintentionally making the combos more difficult by doing dash attack into up smash, so when he would try to ladder sephiroth after another dash attack, sephiroth would go into tumble earlier which is way easier to just DI out of the ladder combo
otherwise, if he kept sephiroth closer to around 7-14% ish, he could do a bridge/ladder off of a grab near ledge and probably kill him much more consistently
I didn't play brawl so I'm glad I don't have PTSD from watching this and it seems quite cool actually. Esp the uptilt and down tilt horizontal kill combo rather than the upward ladder combo
The ladder combo is wild and I don't think I can get tired of seeing it. My only problem is, on the chance that you outside the percents for the combo to work.... What else you gonna do?
Abadango was my first top player I watched a ton of because I liked his inkling alot
I think now that Smash Ultimate isn't getting anymore balance updates, more underused characters are gonna start popping up. I remember when the game got leaked and EVERYONE was talking about Meta Knight and then once the game came out pretty much everyone forgot about him. So glad to see that there's still dedicated Meta Knight players out there still putting in work. Ultimate has so much to offer and i'm hoping to see more underused characters do it big.

Im not even trippin on it being metaknight. Im way more shocked at how simple he kept all of his damage and kill setups. I could be wrong, but I believe he went up against characters on the lighter side of things but MK not being in alot of people MU chart also played a part. Masterful pick

Meta Knight is under-estimate because of his nerf thank of his reputation as a Broken character.
I used to see his Rufio combo as cheap and stereotypical for Meta Knight that I am convinced he is more than that. Heck, he can win with without them!
And Abandago proves me wrong by turning a cheap combo into a punishable move. Combined with a strong neutral, he turns MK into a beast.

Meta Knight been good, people just don't like being precise.
I can say that about a lot of other characters. Joker was good but people didn't use him because "you have to be precise" then Leo used him and now he's considered top 2. Marth is still considered bad even after his tipper consistency buffs because people hate being precise, anyway. Meta Knight we're already talking about, so lol. Pikachu is super precise so nobody cares to use him at top level other than Shinymark and ESAM.
@@Spyder-Marth Kazuya needs machine-like precision, Riddles is the only one to consistently reach that level and even he finds it tiring and shifts down to Terry when playing Kaz is too much

Definitely mid tier, MAYBE bottom of high tier, with random good matchups against some top tiers cuz he has good burst options. Compared to how OP some characters are in the game, there’s no way he’s underrated
Nah, a lot of people underrate him, seen him in low tiers many times. Imo if you're really good with ladders while also being a really good player he's a solid high tier character. Do think he's underrated cause most would say he's mid

Sephiroth isn't hard to ladder, Ken was just slightly too high percent - went too high with the up air to get hit with the next up air

Sheik is BUSTED.
I also think Sheik is extremely slept on, but it's pretty much unavoidable to not be considered an upset unless Sheik mains starts placing way higher in the future before the point she wins a major
I feel like Meta Knight could be a good answer to Steve. He's mobile, his multiple jumps allow him to go around some of Steve's traps, and most importantly, Tornado beats minecart
Also there is a glitch that Meta Knight can pass through Steve's blocks after losing a stock.
