Yes for sure. There’s a lot of times I just use steam with no chemical.

Hose is not replaceable unfortunately. There is a pressure gauge where you can monitor the pressure but not a water level.

Why distilled water only? Would RO work?

It's better to use distilled water since it contains no minerals. If you keep using water from the tap, over time, the minerals and whatever is in tap water, calcium buildup will occur and it can either damage the system or you will get reduced efficiency.
