The level up to the professional studio is noted but I miss the sunlight and down home feel of your old kitchen. I'm with you either way though and the growth of this channel in the business sense is inspiring.
Word! I was like hold up my guy updated the kitchen lol
Yes giving real cooking show vibes and like you said love to see his growth!
I am hosting Thanksgiving Dinner this year and while surfing the videos, I came across this one- OMG! I already know it will be great! Thank you so much and I am already proud of my greens! So elated that I scrolled to your video!
❤ true but you can still Watch his greens video from 3yrs ago. And there u have it folks😊
Pot liquor is the amazing juice of the greens!!!yes yes yes!!!looks amazing!!! Thank you 🙏🏾
🤤🔥💯👍
Crazy how just seein some greens can bring up some memories, theres never a bad time for em but they hit definitely different when its this time of year.
My mom taught me how to cook as a kid. I start by using a ham hock in boiling water with seasonings. Take stems out, roll into fat cigar ( lol), cut into thin strips . Wash greens until no more dirt is found and get to cooking until tender. Cornbread for the pot liquor, potato salad, fried drumsticks and sweet iced tea with yams on the side, yum!!!! Maybe even have macaroni and cheese. That combination will make you take a nap, lol.
Omg. Would love to eat dinner at your house. Unfortunately I have not made potato salad or collards. Shoot, I'm 42 yrs old but still a rookie when it comes to cooking so I ask my mom or my sisters how to make something.
🙌 yes yes, I was taught the exact same .
Come on "wid-it" Black Beauty. That meal will put you in a real deep sleep. Lol. Ooooooo-wee!!!! I'm salivating 🤤
Use a smoked pork belly thank me later.
I pick the stems off!
What attracted me to your videos is your sweet spirit, professionalism, cleanliness, and just good ole-fashioned cooking. You really do make the recipes simple. My Mom taught me at age 5. It started with just helping to stir foods up while standing on my highchair. I blossomed from there and eventually learned other recipes from recipe books, other cooks, and magazines.
That Pot Liquor is the bomb! All I would need is Cornbread and some Candied Yams!! I mainly use fresh greens when I can get them. It depends on where I am. In the South, that is not a problem. I also use Salt Pork for seasoning when I don't have bacon fat. What would be new for me is the Chicken Broth. I never saw my mother use that. I guess the Salt Pork did the trick!
The Iodized Salt helps to prevent Thyroid disease. I learned that in Nursing School. It was discovered that people who had thyroid problems lacked Iodine in the body. Our bodies need certain minerals as well as vitamins for our health.
Now if you are really Southern and Country you are supposed to eat that pot liquor by sopping it up with some cornbread and your fingers! 😂
You're the best I've seen!!!! ❤🎯
That pot liquor is the bomb with corn bread, love your cooking
Pot liquor, oooooo wee I love it!
@ Ruthie Green - You are so right about our bodies needing iodine. Docs tell people to quit salt and they end up on Synthroid 🤦♀️. Blessings to you and your family from this fellow RN in Florida 💕
Me too , my Mom taught me the same. salt pork But now I use turkey fat.
Love it u go Boyee!!!!✌️♥️😇
I learned to soak my greens in a sinkful of vinegar and cold water. Soak then rinse and repeat until there's no sand in the bottom of the sink - usually takes at least 2 soaks.
My great grandmother would dip out the pot liquor, OUT IT IN A BOWL and break up cornbread in it. YUM 😋
When I'm yams at AB 🤔🤔😋😋😛🙂🙂
Big homie. You’ve helped me make things I’ve had in my childhood that no one ever taught me how to make. But now I can share with my family and kids. I can’t begin to thank you enough!! G.O.A.T
AB that potlicker is liquid gold brother.
Potlicker and some good cornbread...
Mannnnnn "What you say....."
my girl makes this for dinner about once a week, straight fire.
Collards are good for the prostate. My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. A lady at church told him eat Collard greens at least 3 or 4xs out of the week. No more prostate cancer, no chemo or radiation was needed.
@@poppin2296 wow! Thanks for sharing such wonderful information!!
That pot liquor is where all of the seasoning and flavor settles. It is like a broth that is so good you can almost drink it. In the south we mix a little cornbread with the pot liquor.
For those that gave him a thumbs down, thats a southern dish handed down for years
Southern dish. We have been cooking like this for generations after generations. They used to give the slaves the pot liquid and they would eat the greens and wonder how healthy they were becoming, its because all of the nutrients were in the pot liquid
Don’t forget the hot sauce,I love half package of bacon diced up into squares and fried in pan in beginning of cook too, sometimes we can’t find turkey wings or drumsticks so have to use a hammock
That pot liquor is the best part. From down here in Alabama I can say this looks like some of the best collards I've ever seen.
A soul food classic!
This old lady from NY loves collards, I cut the stem out as you did in this video. Pot liquor is the delicious liquid in the pot after the greens are cooked, loaded with flavor and the most vitamin packed of the whole pot. Yummy
Co-worker introduced me to collard greens in the 80's. From a soul food place in Boston. Never looked back since. I get them every time its on a menu. Also make them myself. I use bacon. Another friend used to make them for me with chicken neck bones. Never thought of the turkey leg looks awesome. Found out fresh is better than frozen already chopped. Its worth the effort to make them fresh. Love your channel.
I was just talking about collard greens yesterday. I'm definitely cooking that for Thanksgiving. Yes indeed! I better get my smoke 🦃 before there's a shortage. Lol I'm going to do my Thanksgiving shopping early.
Smart idea and great minds think a like!
This is one veggie that will go great with cornbread and/or cornbread stuffing. Thank you for this video. Amen
Yes this is my favorite!!!!
Enjoy 🔥🤤
Pot liquor is “gold” and with cornbread, omg! I fix mine very similar (old school) with capful apple cider vinegar, crushed red pepper and little bit of raw sugar added. Thanks for the content..,… on point with everything!!!
I agree with your way also. I left out the Red Chili Flakes because of the hot sauce. Thanks Bev :)
Oh! I missed the hot sauce. I am 73 years old and have learned a lot from your channel. Good job and best wishes in your new endeavor!
Thats how I do mine too
AB I truly love the videos and grandma recipe’s is always best.
Oh yeah. I've been NEEDING greens in my life lately.
Love your videos!! Happy you showed this one! Thank you
Pot liquor is the broth or liquid in the pot. Yessss AB, that's what you call down home cooking.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I remember watching your first video on this. Changed my life! I can watch new videos of greens over and over again but the base of my recipe came from your videos! Thank you my guy!
I love the fact that you really do take the mystery out of cooking! You keep me excited about homestyle cooking!
I’m loving all of your videos! You’ve made me love being back in the kitchen again!!!!! 💪🏾
That's how I fixed them when I lived in Florida. You can't beat the flavor. Absolutely love greens especially with barbecue. I've done it with smoked turkey legs and I've done it with the heel of the pork ribs after they've been on the grill and smoking for 3 hours.
I love this man's cooking, recipes, and approach. I've followed several of his recipes with wonderful taste and success. Thank you!
9.30pm here Ireland and had dinner about 3 hours ago. Now you've gone and made me really hungry again!!
Been cooking in restaurants for 17 yrs and never made greens, I’m more into cooking varieties of meat, now I want to get more on the sides so I thank you for this, I can do a lot with just this.
I love collard greens they are my favorite greens. Especially with corn bread to soak in the liquor that's in the greens. Yum yum.
That kitchen is straight 🔥 🔥 🔥!!!
Love the new set and the new look.
I just bought greens today. I'm making this for dinner tomorrow. Looks so good! Thanks for sharing.
I am a northerner now living in the south. I must say how surprised at how few people really know how to cook greens. The way you cooked these is how my grandmother taught me. They looked so good! I think it's time I show them how it's really done!
THESE COLLARD GREENS ARE THE BEST AND EVERYONE NOW HAS NOMINATED ME WITH THE BEST GREENS 🥬 TO DO IT EVERY YEAR ❤️ THANK YOU 😊
Greens done like this are my number 1 comfort food. I have never had greens with turkey before though, that sounds amazing. Thanks for the idea AB!
I just shared this with 4 friends been watching for a long time ab love the content man thank you!
Every time I need a recipe I come to you. I’ve made almost all your recipes, was watching your pot roast recipe earlier & you were in an apartment with a tiny kitchen! Now look at you!!! I love to see it.
Alright now! Looking for my bowl! I also see you keeping it together over there AB. LOOKING GOOD my brother 💯
Thank you for showing people that you “wash” greens with water and salt. My grandmother taught me the same way.
I’ve heard ppl add actual dish wash soap to the water. smh.
Yeah. There's nothing like that detergent and lemon taste with your greens. Yum, yum!
I know you washed them greens more than once
Anyone who puts soap on anything edible has a mental issue
@@charlesmills6621 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for talking to the new people! I'm going to attempt to make this! My husband loves greens and I'm going to surprise him!
Did you make them? How did they come out?
@@NellyNelleNel wow no way it has been 1 yr since I posted that! Wow. I thought I watched this recently lol. Going to attempt it this month hahaa
I was just talking to my friend last night that I wanted to find a good greens recipe to learn from. Imma try this one. Thank you 🆎😊🙏🏼🙋🏻♀️
AB, what is the spice blend you used? You didn’t mention it during the video. Thanks I really enjoy your videos. Make that money!!
That’s what I’m talkin bout mouth watering collards and the smoked turkey looked plentiful.
My parents had an amazing cook who made the best southern old time food. Best greens I've ever tasted. I miss her so much. I've tried and failed to cook like her until now. You have shown me how to cook close to what she made. Her love and kindness is the secret ingredient I can't replicate. Still I revel in your wonderful recipes that allow me to remember my happy childhood. I've got a pot of mustard greens and a pot of black eyed peas on the stove right now. Thanks to you I know they will taste delicious. Thank you and happy new year.
i made this today and i thank you so much for this. it filled me up the whole day!
I'm loving your kitchen!! It's absolutely beautiful! And those greens looks really good!
So amazing as always. Collard greens are one of the most delicious dishes in the whole world and I've had a lot of dishes over the years lol. I've always been intimidated to make it but this year might be the year I have to try. Thank you for the recipe.
Thank you so much for your recipe. I made Collards today and they are amazing 😊😃
I eat a few stems with my greens and when I was kid we would wipe the greens with a cloth and then put salt and baking soda in the water and clean them in water.
Hey AB pot liquor was like medicine for my fam my momma used to put some in our baby bottle 🍼 lol or for cold weather man back down memory lane bro you hit the spot on that but a pro tip my mom’s didn’t cut the stems she would say “ A leaf 🍃 is only good as it’s Branches “ old school Baton Rouge Louisiana tip ✌🏾👍🏾🙏🏾
I love your videos, I'm old school, and your recipes bring me back to my roots, thx, much love.
I have learned so much from you! All the tricks cooking now for 2years. Your the only one I watch! Thank you!
Hey man, I love, what you are doing ! My wife an I spend a lot of time in the US (for vacation). We cook and grill american recipes several times, here at home. You are a great inspiration for our cooking. So, thank you very much and all the best for you and your loved ones.
Tommy from N.Germany
Thanks for this AB! I crave these from time to time, but haven't cooked them myself! Thanks for sharing....now I know! BTW, thanks for speaking to the new people and sharing your Safety tip as well! Ouch! We can all use a safety reminder! Love the channel!

"mines"??
I can’t wait for this delicious collar green recipe
Fire 🔥 💯
I have been cooking Collard Greens many years but I really like how simplified you make them. I was taught to cut the whole stem off the greens and to wash each leaf 1 at a time Thanks AB
AB I JUST fixed this recipe previously posted by you Sunday. My lady said best greens she’s ever had. Thanks for making me a hero!
learned about how long to cook. love it. turned out delicious. thank you 🙏

Love the upgraded production! Recipes always A1!
Definitely trying this one. Thanks!!
From the south here and I have always had collards made with a ham hawk but not with a turkey leg. I am super stoked to try them that way!
Looks amazing! I remember as a kid I would wait patiently just for the pot liquor and bread. It’s so good together
I was just talking about how I've been craving collard greens, and then this pops up! Awesome. I will try your recipe. Nothing of yours ever fails.
You gotta try this one fam!
Pot liquor=green juice!!!😀
It didn't popup by coincidence, your phone and other devices are always listening, spying on you. Facts matter.
@@lonetraveller Isn’t that the truth!! SMH 🤦♀️
I'm making these for Thanksgiving
Amazing! My grandmother taught me the about the same, except to remove stems & cut before washing in cold water & salt bath.
But, a senior coworker and OMG she showed me how to make greens and cabbage without 🍖 meat… so good & added red pepper flakes😋
Yesssss AB, pot liquor from the greens, so good with cornbread.
Thanks for sharing! I love these comments :) Enjoy!
Loving the quality of the videos man. KILLING IT! Did this recipe, my Dad say i'm in charge of greens going forward
Another great demonstration, as always!
Looks great, can’t wait to make it.
Thank You for your help looks awesome
you made it so simple. Love it
Born and raised in the south and I never realized the stems were a thing. I'm always happy when I see them in greens. Its almost a meaty texture. Love your channel !!
Crazy I was JUST writing my thanksgiving list and I wrote down “turkey leg” for my kale 🤤
I cooked Camelia red beans Sunday/Monday and now midweek have my favorite treat; pot liquor. Beans and rice are almost gone but the liquid is still there. Learned from my mama the best part of the cook.
That's awesome! Family in the kitchen is the best. Those memories live on in us forever :)
Thanks I needed this video for real.
Thanks for easy delicious recipes. Yum 😋 I will be making this recipe and have made many of your other recipes.
My mother also added 1 head of cabbage to her collard greens! Talkin about some good eatin' aw man. I'm salivating just thinking about her greens.

I'm born and raised in Cali, but my family's ancestry and soul is of Selma Alabama. I love the stems.
